Azziad Nasenya has responded to online criticism surrounding the outfit she wore at a recent Garnier event, explaining that her fashion choice was intentionally designed to match the theme of the occasion.
Azziad, who was unveiled as the Face of Garnier East Africa on Saturday, June 6, 2026, described the partnership as a major career milestone and a full-circle moment in her journey as a digital creator.
Expressing her excitement after the announcement, she said she felt honoured to represent the beauty brand and be part of what she considers a significant step for local representation within the industry.
Outfit draws mixed reactions online
While many fans and followers congratulated her on securing the ambassadorial role, others focused on the outfit she wore during the launch event.
Addressing the reactions on social media, Azziad explained that her look was carefully selected to complement the event’s theme rather than conform to traditional fashion expectations.
“Guys, I’ve seen the comments, and apparently some of you think I wore my skirt halfway and forgot to pull it up,” she wrote. “Let me help the genuinely confused ones for a second.”
Inspired by the Aqua Chic theme
According to Azziad, the event was built around an “Aqua Chic” concept, inspired by elements associated with water, beaches, resorts and coastal luxury.
“The theme of the event was Aqua Chic. Think water. Think beach. Think resort. Think pool party. Think bubbles. Think coastal luxury,” she explained.
She noted that the theme was reflected throughout the event, from the décor and entertainment to the overall atmosphere.
“That’s why there were people in the pool. That’s why there were bubbles everywhere. That’s why some of the performers and bodyguards were literally walking around bare-chested and covered in water,” she said.
Azziad maintained that her outfit was part of the broader creative direction of the event and was designed to align with the visual experience organisers had curated for guests.
