A Ruto and Babu Owino ticket for 2027? Cassypool thinks so

Kenyan social commentator and influencer Cassypool Capon has proposed that Babu Owino be considered for the position of Deputy President under William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Tony Mwirigi on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Cassypool praised Babu Owino’s leadership qualities, saying the youthful lawmaker has grown beyond county-level politics and deserves a bigger national role.

According to Cassypool, Owino’s popularity among young people and his political influence make him suitable to represent Gen Z interests at the highest levels of government.

“Babu Owino is a good leader; he is better than me 100 per cent. Ni kijana ambaye amejituma na ameenda mbele sana, but I want to tell Babu Owino that he is bigger than Nairobi governor seat. Let him come I negotiate for him with William Ruto so that he can be the deputy president and represent the Gen Z,” Cassypool said.

“Babu Owino is a good leader; let him deputise Ruto to represent Gen Z,” he added.

Confident about Nairobi governor race

Cassypool, who has already declared interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial race, also claimed he would defeat both Babu Owino and current Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja if they all contest for the seat in 2027.

“Nitawashinda kwa sababu Sakaja atakuwa kwa ballot, Babu atakuwa kwa ballot na hao wengine watakuwa kwa ballot, mimi nitapita katikati yao,” he said.

The outspoken entertainer officially announced his gubernatorial ambitions in December 2025, saying he intends to vie for Nairobi governor without attacking his political rivals.

“Yeah, I’m vying for the governor’s seat. I want to be the governor of Nairobi. I don’t want to talk about Sakaja; he is doing his work. I don’t want to be the type of politician who talks ill of other politicians,” Cassypool previously stated.

“Sakaja is working; he is doing his best. Tukutane sisi sote 2027, Sakaja, Babu Owino. So I will not badmouth Sakaja, he is working, and I’ve worked with him on several projects.”

He further expressed confidence in his chances, insisting he is ready to challenge established political figures in the capital.

“Mimi nasimama kuwa Governor wa Nairobi. Bahati ni mtu unahesabu kusimama Governor? Nakuambia watu nitatandika ni Sakaja na Babu Owino,” he said.

From Stage To State House- Kenyan Celebrities Who Have Announced 2027 Political Bids

Following the highly anticipate 2027 general elections, a couple of celebrities have announced their interest in running for political seats.

The most recent celebrity to announce the bid is comedienne Jemutai. She has declared her interest in running for Elgeyo Marakwet women rep.

Other than that, two more prominent Kenyan celebrities, musician KRG The Don and internet sensation Cassypool, have also officially announced their intentions to vie for political office in Nairobi County during the 2027 General Elections.

KRG The Don Targets Nairobi Senate

Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Karagu Kimani, known as KRG The Don, officially reaffirmed his plan to run for the Nairobi Senator seat on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Using his official Instagram account, KRG urged Nairobi residents to register as voters, emphasizing that their collective votes would determine the future leadership and direction of the city. He positioned himself as a candidate who intimately understands the struggles of Nairobians and believes it is time for change.

“Take some time off your busy schedule and register as a voter, because that vote of yours is what will change things for all of us in the 2027 General Elections. Residents of Nairobi, before you is your youth, this round I have come to tell the residents of Nairobi, the youth, the mothers of Nairobi: Come out in large numbers and cast your votes,” he stated.

KRG stressed that he is ready to work alongside the residents to bring meaningful solutions, arguing that Nairobi’s problems cannot be solved by leaders who do not live within the city.

Cassypool Eyes Gubernatorial Seat

Internet sensation Cassypool announced his ambitious plan to run for the Governor’s seat of Nairobi County on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Despite his candidacy, Cassypool took a measured approach toward the incumbent, Governor Johnson Sakaja, acknowledging that Sakaja is working. He emphasized that he seeks to avoid the negative campaigning often seen in politics.

“Yeah, I’m vying for the governor’s seat. I want to be the governor of Nairobi. I don’t want to talk about Sakaja; he is doing his work. I don’t want to be the type of politician who talks ill of other politicians. Sakaja is working; he is doing his best. We will meet all of us in 2027, Sakaja, [and] Babu Owino,” Cassypool stated, confirming he views the current and potentially future opposition figures as his main rivals.

He further reiterated his focus: “I am standing to be the Governor of Nairobi. I am telling you the people I will confront are Sakaja and Babu Owino.”

Cassypool doubles down on his support for Samia Suluhu despite bloodshed in Tanzania

Political analyst Cassypool has doubled down on his unwavering support for Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, even as the country grapples with widespread unrest and mounting criticism following the disputed October 29, 2025, elections.

Speaking to local YouTubers on Wednesday, November 5, Cassypool dismissed claims that his loyalty to President Samia stems from ethnic or regional ties, saying his stance is driven purely by admiration for her leadership and commitment to peace.

“I have supported Mama Samia Suluhu one hundred per cent. I am not Tanzanian and I do not have a vote in Tanzania, but I have always been among the first to advise my Tanzanian brothers and sisters not to imitate the bad habits of Kenyans,” he said.

“Tanzania Is a Land of Peace”

Cassypool urged Tanzanians to remain calm and uphold their country’s long-standing reputation for stability, contrasting it with Kenya’s often turbulent political culture.

“Focus on your country because it is a land of peace. Those habits of endless protests that happen in Kenya bring no honour to anyone. Your country is peaceful, and blood has never been shed there. I preach peace because I love peace,” he said.

The commentator argued that Tanzania should avoid the cycle of street protests and political hostility that, in his view, have undermined unity in neighboring countries.

Defending President Samia’s 98% Win

Addressing criticism surrounding President Samia’s landslide 98% re-election victory, Cassypool insisted that the outcome reflected genuine public support, not electoral malpractice.

“If you did not know, the official opposition in Tanzania today has its own Vice President in Zanzibar. Those parties you hear making noise on social media should be ignored,” he said.

Cassypool added that even President Samia’s rivals recognized her popularity.

“I support what Mama Samia said — she had seventeen opponents, and even they agreed to vote for her. I see no problem with that 98 per cent result because the people genuinely love her. So you should not come here with your social media narratives trying to spoil Tanzanians.”

“I Respect Her as a Mother and Leader”

Cassypool further explained that his admiration for President Samia goes beyond politics — describing her as a symbol of strength, motherhood, and capable leadership within East Africa.

“I have continued to support President Samia Suluhu because she is a mother and a woman leader from our East African region. I respect her, and I respect all women and mothers,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming his call for peace, urging Tanzanians to reject divisive rhetoric and focus on rebuilding national unity after the tense post-election period.

Gospel Singer Ringtone Apoko and Politician Cassypool in Brawl

Popular gospel singer Ringtone Apoko and politician Casypool were involved in a brawl in Kahawa West, Nairobi county on Tuesday evening.

The video of the brawl was shared on social media by 2mbili, and it shows Ringtone getting out of his car and angrily going to attack Cassypool while he was chatting with the comedian YY.

In the video, Ringtone is seen taking off his shirt and clenching his fists to hit the politician while accusing him of ruining his name.

“I am an orphan, you are ruining my name. I live in Wanyee?? I am an orphan, you cannot ruin my name? I live in Wanyee??”

Ringtone was heard shouting at Casypool as YY tried to separate them. The gospel singer accused Cassypool of spreading rumors that he was being kept by a white woman.

In his defense, Ringtone denied the allegations and made it clear that he personally struggled to finance his luxurious life in Runda.

The brawl was eventually broken up by bystanders, and both men were taken away by police. It is unclear what charges, if any, will be filed against them.

The brawl between Ringtone and Cassypool is the latest in a series of high-profile incidents involving Kenyan celebrities. In recent months, there have been several reports of violence and threats between celebrities, including musicians, comedians, and politicians.

This trend is worrying, and it raises questions about the state of celebrity culture in Kenya. It is important for celebrities to set a good example and to behave in a way that is respectful of others.
