Betty Bayo’s daughter defends her fathers after Kenyans bash them

Sky Victor, daughter of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, has issued a heartfelt appeal to Kenyans online, urging them to stop attacking her biological father, Prophet Victor Kanyari, and her mother’s husband, Hiram “Tash” Gitau.

Her message, delivered through a viral video, comes amid intense public scrutiny following her mother’s death on November 10, 2025.

A Daughter’s Direct Appeal

Speaking calmly but firmly to the camera, Sky dismissed claims that she is caught between the two men, stressing that she shares a loving relationship with both.

“I still love both of my fathers. I don’t know what you guys are talking about. I’m not picking sides. I love them both,” she said, adding that life must continue “whether she’s here or not.”

She clarified that she is not involved in any conflict and urged the public to stop projecting drama onto her family.

Calling for Privacy and Respect

Sky’s frustration centred on the online harassment directed at both Kanyari and Tash. She reminded Kenyans that they are not privy to everything happening within the family.

“Please be careful. Don’t bully my baba. Don’t bully my dad. You don’t know what is happening behind the scenes,” she said. “Some of you hear a little information and assume everything. Don’t assume.”

She emphasized that much of her family’s life is private and should not be judged based on half-truths circulating online.

Navigating Grief Under Public Scrutiny

The loss of her mother has brought Sky immense grief. She described the burial as deeply painful, saying it was “sad seeing her ass go down,” and noted that the dress she had planned to wear remains untouched in her closet.

Despite the emotional turmoil, Sky expressed determination to push forward.

A Promise to Honour Her Mother

Sky revealed that she had shared all her dreams and aspirations with her mother—and now feels compelled to achieve them.

“I will make my mother proud no matter what,” she declared, adding that the tragedy has only strengthened her resolve.

Her message serves as both a plea for compassion and a reminder that behind public figures and viral stories are real families navigating complex emotions away from the spotlight.

Betty Bayo laid to rest as her husband Tash and ex-hubby Kanyari unite to give her beautiful send-off

Hiram Gitau delivered an intensely emotional tribute at the burial of his wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo, speaking openly about the silence, pain, and profound emptiness that has filled their home since her passing.

Addressing mourners, Gitau said the house now “echoes with a heavy, profound quiet,” a stark contrast to the laughter that once brightened their lives. He described his grief as “a new raw footprint — a landscape of loss shaped entirely by your absence.”

Losing his wife, he said, felt like losing the compass that guided his world.

“I still turn to share a thought with you, only to face an empty space. I reach for you in the night and find cold sheets,” he said.

Gitau reflected on the small, intimate rituals that defined their marriage — shared glances over their children’s heads, late-night conversations, even the simple routines of caring for their skin together — memories that now “ache with intensity.”

Despite his heartbreak, Gitau assured mourners that his priority now is their children, Sky and Dani, whom he described as their “living legacy” and “the most precious pieces” of their mother still present.

“My commitment to our children is now the very axis of my life,” he said. He vowed to protect them, honour their choices, and ensure they never doubt how deeply they are loved. “The love you poured into them will now flow through me — doubled in its intensity.”

He also pledged to take care of his mother-in-law and preserve the strong family ties Betty nurtured. Noting that she always united both families during Christmas, he promised the tradition would continue. “Sky and Dani will help me keep that bond alive,” he said.

Gitau reminded mourners that Betty’s birthday was just days away, on November 24, promising that her family will continue to honour her life every year.

In closing, he described himself as “shattered but not broken” and thanked God for the years he shared with his wife. Though accepting God’s will is painful, he said he finds peace in believing “He did not want her to suffer in this cruel and unforgiving world.”

“Rest now, my beautiful wife,” Gitau said. “Your watch has ended. Mine continues, fuelled by a love that not even death can dim. Watch over us until I can hold you again. Rest with the angels till we meet again.”

His tribute moved the audience to applause, with clergy, friends, and public figures visibly emotional during the farewell.

Pastor Victor Kanyari’s Tribute

Pastor Victor Kanyari also delivered a heartfelt message as he mourned the mother of his children.

He reflected on the early days of their relationship, their struggles, and the family they built before parting ways. He recalled meeting Betty 13 years ago “in the middle of our daily Nairobi hustle,” describing her as a shy, ever-smiling young woman whose gentleness softened even his busiest days.

They connected instantly, he said, and within weeks, found it difficult to imagine life without each other.

He reminisced about their long conversations, dreams shared, and their humble beginnings in the warm, modest home where Betty lived.

“Even then, I could already see the big dream in your eyes,” he said.

Their relationship progressed naturally. “I was looking for a wife, a companion, a partner, and a dreamer,” he said. “Within months, we were already living as husband and wife.” They welcomed their first child soon after, a moment that made life “suddenly serious,” eventually becoming parents of two.

Reflecting on their children, Kanyari said he sees Betty in both of them.

“I see your face in our daughter’s beauty and your spirit in her gentle way,” he said. Their son, he added, carries his boldness but also his mother’s warmth and humour.

Kanyari openly apologised for the hardships Betty endured during public controversies linked to him.

“I’m truly sorry that my brand, my name, and my drama put you through difficult moments,” he said. Despite everything, he praised her for never poisoning their children’s hearts against him or denying them a father.

He recalled periods when they both trended online, saying each had their own story to tell. He admired her resilience, noting how she rose above challenges — even joking about her brand growing stronger despite the scandals.

“Betty, you were a hardworking woman, a forgiving soul, a loving mother, and a true friend,” he said. “You loved God with all your heart. You built your life with grace and raised our children with humility.”

He expressed regret for the ways he may have failed her, but vowed never to fail their children, saying she will forever remain alive in their hearts.

Tears and Tributes: Betty Bayo’s Husband Hiram Gitau Speaks

The late gospel singer Betty Bayo’s memorial service at her Eden Ville home was marked by raw emotion and unity as both her husband, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, and her ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, shared heartfelt reflections about the woman they both deeply loved.

Tash’s Emotional Tribute

Surrounded by family, friends, and members of the gospel fraternity, Tash stood before the mourners to express his gratitude for the overwhelming support his family had received since Betty’s passing.

The memorial, hosted by comedian Terence Creative, saw close friends and celebrities gather to celebrate the singer’s life and comfort her grieving family.

“How are you guys? I am Tash, Bayo’s husband. This is home, and you are welcome,” he said softly. “I want to thank you for praying for us and being with us. The support you have given us is immense. We used to live here with my departed wife, and I have my kids here who will only say hi. These are my kids; we lived here with Bayo as a family. It was a shock, and they will not speak today.”

Social media users later praised Tash’s composure and humility, commending the love and respect he showed toward his late wife. Many noted how he handled the tragedy with grace, even drawing comparisons to Pastor Kanyari, who was also present.

Kanyari Speaks on His Relationship with Tash

In a rare moment of solidarity, Pastor Victor Kanyari, Betty’s ex-husband and father of her children Sky and Danny, also opened up about his feelings and his relationship with Tash.

Speaking to Obidan Dela, Kanyari dismissed claims of animosity, revealing that both men have maintained a respectful relationship for the sake of the children.

“They are working together. I do not know why some people are saying this and others that, but we should support both parties. They have both lost someone who was very dear to them,” he said.

Kanyari also revealed that Sky affectionately calls Tash ‘daddy’, a gesture he fully respects.

“I have no problem with that. I love my children, and I continue to support them. What matters is that they feel loved and secure,” he added.

A Father’s Grief

Since Betty’s passing on November 11 from acute myeloid leukaemia, Kanyari has been open about his grief. Witnesses described him as visibly shaken at Kenyatta National Hospital, and later, breaking down when Betty’s body was moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home.

During a press briefing the following day, he revealed that he had been unaware of her illness until it was too late.

“It is very painful for me. Yesterday I did not sleep; I had nightmares of Betty more than three times. Every time I fell asleep, I would dream that my child was asking me where their mum was. I slept with a disturbed conscience.”

The pastor admitted that accepting Betty’s death has been nearly impossible.

“I even think she has not truly died. When I see her in photos, I feel like she is still alive. Other people might forget her, but I shall never forget the mother of my kids, and my kids will never forget her.”

Bound by Loss, United by Love

Despite the complicated past between them, both Tash and Kanyari now share one unbreakable bond — their grief for Betty Bayo.

In his closing words, Kanyari asked for continued prayers for himself, Betty’s children, her mother, and her husband, Tash, as they navigate this heartbreaking chapter.

“We all need God’s strength. She was loved, and she will be remembered forever.”

Even in death, Betty Bayo’s life continues to unite those she once called family — a testament to her enduring spirit and the love she left behind.
