Controversial preacher and Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about the contrast between his lavish lifestyle in Runda and his simpler life in Chokaa, revealing that despite owning a multimillion-shilling mansion, he finds greater peace and happiness in his modest home.

Speaking on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Kanyari disclosed that he owns a mansion in Runda worth approximately KSh90 million. While describing the property as luxurious and fully equipped with high-end amenities, he admitted that it does not offer him the comfort and fulfillment he experiences in Chokaa.

According to the preacher, the Runda residence is a multi-storey home complete with a swimming pool and expansive living spaces. He noted that his bedroom is located on one of the upper floors and is exceptionally large.

“I have a house in Runda, a very big place, by the way, with a swimming pool where you can swim and relax. The house has many floors, and my bedroom is up there, almost on the sixth floor. The bedroom is even the size of this church of mine here. The bed is very big, like King Pharaoh’s bed; you can roll on that bed several times without falling. But there is no happiness over there,” he said.

Despite the luxury and grandeur of the mansion, Kanyari said he does not feel emotionally settled there. He explained that happiness, in his view, is not determined by wealth, expensive property, or material possessions.

The preacher revealed that he often struggles to sleep comfortably in Runda and frequently returns to Chokaa, where he feels more at home.

“Happiness for me is here in Chokaa, where I live and preach. Even if I go to Runda, I cannot sleep there; I have to come back here to Chokaa. And yet that house I bought for KSh90 million,” he said.

Kanyari went on to compare the two homes, noting that while his Chokaa residence is valued at around KSh1.5 million and lacks the luxury of the Runda mansion, it provides him with the comfort, peace, and emotional fulfillment he values most.

He explained that Chokaa offers a strong sense of community and belonging, allowing him to interact freely with residents who know him personally and treat him warmly.

“The house I have here in Chokaa is not that expensive; it is about KSh1.5 million. It is not fancy, but I love it and it is where I feel my happiness and my rest. Because my people are also here. My people call me good names, and I feel at home. The place has a vibe; they call me Honourable,” he said.

According to Kanyari, the simplicity of life in Chokaa, combined with the close relationships he enjoys with residents, contributes more to his peace of mind than the luxury associated with his Runda property.

He also highlighted the difference in lifestyle between the two areas, noting that Runda’s strict security procedures can make the environment feel less personal.

“The difference is that in Runda there are strict security procedures; they have to check and ask questions when you are going in and out,” he said.

Speaking during his Sunday, May 24, 2026, church service, the Salvation Healing Ministry founder recounted how the incident unfolded years ago after Betty Bayo reportedly left their matrimonial home and returned to stay with her parents.

According to Kanyari, the move angered him, prompting him to follow her to her parents’ home in an attempt to convince her to return together with their children.

“I don’t remember exactly what I had done. Oh, I remember one time my late wife, Betty Bayo, left our home and went back to live at her parents’ place, and I became very angry. I went to their home and caused a lot of drama. I demanded that she return to my house together with the children, and I also insisted that all the things they had carried away should be brought back,” Kanyari said.

Arrest After Domestic Confrontation

The preacher admitted that emotions ran high during the confrontation and claimed he insisted that every item taken from their home be returned as well.

Kanyari further disclosed that the altercation eventually escalated to the point where authorities became involved after Betty Bayo reportedly contacted the area OCS.

“Betty later called the area OCS and reported that I had caused so much commotion that the neighbourhood was no longer peaceful. I was arrested and placed in a police cell,” he narrated.

He explained that officers detained him for several hours over allegations of causing disturbance and unrest in the area.

Despite the heated confrontation, Kanyari revealed that Betty Bayo later intervened and helped secure his release from custody after about two hours.

“After about two hours, Betty came and I was released,” he said.

The televangelist also shared what happened immediately after his release, saying he was extremely hungry and asked Betty where they could eat before leaving the area.

According to Kanyari, they eventually found a small roadside hotel near Kiambu Police Station, where he noticed a surprisingly large crowd despite the food vendor appearing untidy.

“I remember after she secured my release, I was very hungry and asked her where we could eat before leaving the area,” he said.

“We found a small hotel outside Kiambu Police Station, and the woman preparing food there did not look very clean because she kept wiping sweat while cooking. Surprisingly, there were many people lined up waiting for the food, and I wondered why. But that is what favour is. Sometimes life is not just about hard work but also about the favour of God,” he added.
