After five years, Citizen Radio anchor Shatta Bway departs from the station

Steve Jacob Maunda, known as Shatta Bway from the “Waks Tiki Taka” show on Citizen Radio, bid farewell to the station after five years, citing his commitment to being the best parent for his children following the passing of his wife.

During his departure announcement, Shatta Bway emphasized his role as both a mother and father to his kids, especially his 13-year-old son, who he feels needs his presence during this crucial stage of adolescence.

“I need time with these kids. My son is 13. He is at an age where you can easily lose your kid. At 13 is when things start happening, I cannot be in something that limits how I spend time with my kids,” he explained.

Expressing his desire to explore new opportunities, Shatta Bway revealed his long-standing aspiration to work behind the scenes as a director. He plans to venture into consultancy while pursuing this passion.

His advice to others contemplating leaving their jobs was to avoid making impulsive decisions driven by emotions but instead to strategize and evaluate the viability of their choices.

Shatta Bway’s decision to step down from his role at Citizen Radio comes after the loss of his wife, Rebecca, in June 2023. During her burial, he pledged to honor her last wish by prioritizing the well-being of their children.

In response to his departure, fans and listeners extended their well-wishes, acknowledging his positive influence and role as a mentor to the youth. Despite feeling saddened by his departure, they expressed support for his future endeavors and assured him of their continued following.
