Shakib Lutaaya has dismissed ongoing speculation about a split between him and socialite Zari Hassan, maintaining that their marriage remains intact.

In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Shakib denied claims that tensions involving fellow socialite Boss Mutoto in December had strained their relationship.

The controversy stemmed from an alleged robbery at Mutoto’s bar in Munyonyo and Shakib’s subsequent summons by police, sparking online rumours that Zari’s friendship with Mutoto had triggered a fallout between the couple.

“My wife and I have not separated. The rumors are false. Just as we never held an interview to announce we were dating, we won’t publicly declare a breakup. Let people think what they want. Ugandans should stop believing everything they see on social media,” Shakib said.

He also urged journalists to verify information before publishing personal stories, emphasising the need for evidence.

Responding to allegations that he depends on women financially, Shakib insisted he is self-sufficient.

“I’m a hustler and I work for myself. I have several businesses that generate my income. I don’t ask anyone for money,” he stated.

On claims of infidelity, he was equally firm, saying he remains loyal in committed relationships and challenging anyone making contrary allegations to provide proof.

Shakib concluded by reaffirming his commitment to Zari, stating that they are “very much in love” and remain devoted to each other.

The couple first wed in a private Islamic Nikah ceremony held on April 16, 2023, in Pretoria, South Africa, attended by close family and friends. Later, on October 3, 2023, they hosted a larger, all-white wedding celebration in Pretoria. The lavish ceremony drew friends, relatives and several African celebrities, with Zari’s five children participating in the event.
