So my fam thought I was leaving LA to rush back to Lagos for work. They didn’t know I had gotten permission from my madam, and made a plan with my Sister @msddg, to change my flight arrangements and pay them a surprise visit. Their reactions were priceless I didn’t even know Momma W could scream like that!!! By the way, @funmiwellington paid Susu and I a similar surprise visit in Lagos during election weekend, and we almost fainted when he walked in the door – so I had to get him back. Thank you to everyone who sent a message/tweeted/called.. I am soooo grateful. I did the best I could to reply, but I’ve been spending some much needed quality time with my family, and it is exactly what my soul needs right now. It’s been years since I got to spend a birthday with them, and I don’t see them so often.. so Pls forgive me for not being able to keep up with all the messages, and thanks so much.

“I shudder to think of how life would have been,
If God didn’t show me, if I hadn’t seen,
That you are ALL i ever prayed for,
My knight in shining armour, my thor

Your love is one I’ve never seen before
My heart you cherish, my being you adore
Olubankole, you were worth waiting for
This love I feel, really is hardcore.

Your heart is so pure, your love is like gold
So precious, so valuable, a beauty to behold
I’ll tell everybody, both young and old
And I’ll love you in return, a thousandfold

Thank you for being the man you are
Mama raised a game changer, an absolute star
When I count my blessings, I don’t look too far
Cause i turn to my side and there you always are.

May the lord increase you on every side
And with you, may he always abide
May favour in your life be multiplied
And all your needs, may he provide.
My lover, my baby, Happy birthday
Remember God’s goodness, especially today
May you look at this wonderful life and say
Thank you Lord Jesus, keep having your way.

I love you very much.

Always and forever,
Your Shug. “

Banky W Says he will Publish his Earnings as a Legislature, if Elected

Nigerian entertainer turned politician, Banky W has vowed to make his earnings as a member of the legislative arm of government, if elected.

He said this at a debate where he spoke against four other candidates in Lagos. According to him, accountability is one of the major problems of government in Nigeria. This, however, is what he says he is willing to change.

Here is what Banky W had to say:

Most of us don’t know who our representatives are, talk less of their salary and allowances and constituency allocations that they receive every year most of the time to enrich themselves.

How I plan to address it myself directly is first of all, I’ll publish what I earn as a legislator my salary, my allowance, the allocation given to Eti-Osa, I will publish it.

We will have town halls and an active constituency office to engage the community to say this is the allocation that we’ve received, this is what we intend to spend it on.

Banky is therefore set to contest against other candidates on the 16th of February. He has since gathered the support of so many celebrities.

Banky W Accuses his Opponents of Removing his Campaign Posters

Allegations, however, followed shortly and the Wellingtons didn’t seem to take them well.

Adesua Etomi says she wishes to clear her  name.

Taking to Twitter therefore, the actress spoke frantically against the allegation. Noting, however, that she was in Abuja in December for a Gender Based Campaign, she dared her accuser to come up with facts.

Miriam, I don’t know u and I will never understand why you have tweeted this lie. My husband and I went to Abuja in December for the 16 days of Activism against gender based violence. A final event was put together by the EU and as influencers, we were invited to attend’.

Banky W Charges Youths to be More Active, Says he is Running for his Unborn Children

Nigerian entertainer, recently turned politician, Banky W, has charged youths to do less of criticism and be more active.

This was at the Convergence Event in Abuja, where he spoke the motive behind his contesting for an electoral post. According to him, he is contesting for the sake of his unborn children. Advising youths to act more than they criticize, the singer says he wants to be able to tell his children that he tried. This, he says is irrespective of whether Nigeria turns out to be great or not.

Banky W’s words below;

It’s a lot harder to try, and a lot easier to criticize. It is a lot easier to talk about it, than to do something about it. We only fail when we stop trying, and battles are only lost when you stop fighting. So, don’t just tweet and talk, walk the walk.

I am running for my unborn children, because when our generation is old and grey, and we hand the country over to them, and they asked what we did about the state of affairs, whether Nigeria ends up being great, or forever a shadow of what could have been, I want to be able to look my kids in the face and say you know what? I tried.

Olubankole Wellington recently declared his intention to contest for the Eti Osa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Cobhams Asuquo Eulogizes Banky W, Says he’s the Ideal Candidate

Ace music producer, Cobhams Asuquo, has thrown his weight behind singer, Banky W in his race for a seat in the Green chamber.

Describing him as a selfless and dedicated person, Cobhams vouched for the singer as one in the race for the collective good. According to him, this is one of the few times that a brave person has taken a political step. He however, detailed on how his relationship with Banky started and has fared over the years.

Cobhams Asuquo’s note on Banky W.

The first time I met Banky was in 2008. I was writing an Etisalat commercial and I needed a certain style of voice on the song. I thought of the fresh new artist who sang the song  “Ebutemetta” – BankyW. He was quite fresh on the naija music scene at that time, so I didn’t know anything about him. After a few calls, I was able to track him down only to learn he wasn’t in the country, but because I was determined to get his voice on the track, I stalled the project.

When we finally got into the studio to voice the commercial, we worked through the night and I was struck by how professional, hard working and good natured he was. He left quite an impression on me, but the biggest surprise was yet to come.

A few weeks later, I called him to confirm that the client had paid for the job and I had a cheque for him, but instead he flat out refused the cheque and didn’t want to be paid! He said he was just happy to have done the job. I was shocked. Why would an artist, especially a new one refuse good money for a major campaign for a big brand?

I was absolutely blown away! But I was glad about how the story eventually turned out.  The client loved the 0809ja song and wanted to meet the artist who sang on it to see him and know if he would be interested in also appearing in the TV commercial.

One thing led to another and that’s how BankyW, a brand new artist on the naija scene, became an Etisalat ambassador and went on to perform all over the country that year for the brand. I would later learn that one of the ogas at the advertising agency believed so strongly that Banky would deliver on the commercial that he staked his salary on it. .

On the success of their friendship since then, he says:

Fast forward to the present, Banky and I have developed one of the most treasured friendships I have in my life. With him I am able to have tough conversations. Nothing is off limits. He’s not ashamed or afraid to express brotherly love in a way that others may consider to be “uncool”.

We became neighbours at a point and it wasn’t uncommon for Banky to pop in just to make sure that I and my family were doing OK, or to invite me to his house to listen to music. We have worked on several projects together and each time, Banky would always in addition to his own tasks, place it upon himself to make sure I was doing fine.

It’s become such that when I have to work with a bunch of people in an unfamiliar space professionally or geographically speaking, just knowing Banky is there fills me with reassurance that I will be OK. I recall a friend’s wedding we traveled for. I didn’t travel with an aide. Banky was the Bestman and in the middle of his best man duties, he would always come check on me to make sure I was OK.

Now, at this point you’ll probably think, “well, it’s because he’s your friend”, but the truth is that he is this same way with everyone, not just myself. It is just second nature to him to look out for others. He is one of the most naturally consistent people I know and there are many others who would testify to this.

Cohbams Asuquo says Banky W is a dedicated and selfless person.

It’s a special kind of person (especially in a time where corruption, selfishness and greed have practically become cultural “values”), that can start with practically nothing as he did, and over the years grow it into the successful brand and string of businesses we see today without tarnishing his image; while also maintaining the same stellar work ethic and positive attitude that anyone who has worked with him can attest to. I know because it all happened right in front of me.

He has become an ambassador to many brands since we first met, and one thing anyone who has worked with him will tell you is that he is always professional, good spirited, conscientious and always ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work.

At work or play, he will always arrive a few minutes early or exactly on time, and give his heart completely to whatever he had to do. In an industry that’s very …”interesting” to say the least, he is remarkably selfless and truly believes in love, service, friendship, togetherness and the power of community over the power of one. He is and has always been all these things and more, not because of any agenda. It is just the way he is.

Cohbhams on his hopes for the election.

In a time where originality is hard to find and is often called to question, Banky is one person I know to be authentic. I think that all of this makes him an ideal candidate for the position he’s trying to occupy. It’s not only about how I have seen him behave with me, but about how I have seen him behave with others.

I see no reason to  trust any one other than one who has shown themselves to be who they truly are; and who they are across the board has proven to always inspire. This is one of the few times in our National history, that a truly good person has taken that brave, political step forward to try to do some collective good.

He is a testament to what you can do with a little hope. So I’m hoping that this time, we will not let ourselves down. Yes, ourselves. Not him. Because we finally have someone who is not in this race for himself, but for you and me.

We finally have a real chance here, one we have long waited for. We can give this position to someone who not only truly deserves it, but who WE also deserve to have look out for US and OUR interests for once as Nigerians. I support @BankyW as he runs for the Lagos Eti Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in 2019.

Blackface Files Lawsuit Against Wizkid and Banky W for Copyright Infringment

Blackface Slams Wizkid and Banky W with a 100 Million Naira Lawsuit.

Blackface is dragging popular Nigerian singers, Wizkid and Banky W, to court for what he calls copyright infringement.

This is for the EME Records’ 2011 song, ‘Slow Whine’, which he says is a reproduction of his song, ‘Like the Way.’ He therefore demands over a Hundred Million Naira, off the suit.

He made this known in an Instagram post, where he posted legal documents from the case.

See what he wrote below:

I have remained quiet while my name has been dragged in the mud the past few years. Some of Nigeria’s biggest artists have infringed on my copyrights but I always restricted myself to speaking out against this in the media. Maybe because I always felt that music is an art and not really a business where you bring in lawyers and all that. That’s why I couldn’t believe when I was sued for N50m by the same people who stole my intellectual property.

I have nothing personal against Wizkid & Banky, in fact I can say I groove to both their music, but the fact is that they stole my song in 2011 and there’s clear evidence to prove it. We’ll allow the Court to decide.

Banky Wellington

@BankyW

Last weekend, a very creepy video was posted online, by someone making fun of my car. I wrote her an open letter. You can read it on my blog: http://bankywellington.com/dear-stalker/

Pls share with everyone you know. I really want her to read it. LOL.

Read Banky W’s response to the girls that criticized his old Range Rover

Banky W explains why he is using a old model Range Rover

Banky W’s reply below:

“Dear Stalker, In response to the cringe-worthy, creepy video you made about my wife and I, I think there are some things you need to know. First of all, poverty will never be my portion in Jesus name. Also, it is a 2008 Range Rover Sport, not a 1999. Amen and Lol. Oh, and additionally, it’s currently for sale to the highest bidder. I had decided last month that I’d sell it, and whatever I got for it, I’d hand over to the “Vocational School for the Blind” in Oshodi and the “Pink Oak Cancer Trust Fund”. “My Aunt volunteers at the school, and she reminded me that they were still trying to raise some money to care for their students, so I came up with a plan. I told her that I’d give my followers the background history of my old car, and get all my celebrity friends who’d sat in it at some point or another to autograph it, and then put it up for an online auction. I figured that since I didn’t need the money from the sale to buy a new one, we could just auction it off and hopefully raise a decent enough amount of money to give back to those in need. “You see, I’ve never found it necessary to own more than one car. Mostly because I can only ever DRIVE one car at a time; and when I bought the car in 2011, I promised myself that I would never buy another car until I owned the home I live in. To me, owning a nice car might help me LOOK like I was doing okay, but owning a nice home would help me KNOW. The way my mind is set up…what good is owning a Rolls Royce, if I’m still paying rent on the house I park it in? “Over the years, as my car went from being kind-of-trendy to being just plain old, people around would occasionally wonder out loud about when I would finally buy a nicer one; I’d just smile and say to myself “not until I own my house”. I eventually did buy an additional much smaller car (a Kia), but that was only because I wanted to use it on “Uber”, so my driver could earn extra bonus money for himself and us, in his free time. I wonder how shocked and horrified you would have been if you’d seen me driving that smaller car instead (which, by the way, I do drive, occasionally). You might be happy to know that I’ve now FINALLY ordered a newer, nicer, personal car, and my wife has too. We paid for them a month ago, but we will probably never show them to you, because we don’t want you to stalk us again, but also because that’s not really any of your business – much like my old Range Rover wasn’t. The cars we are getting are relatively new this year, but the way my mind is set up, we will probably drive them for as long as possible, until we have stashed away enough money for our future kids’ complete University Education, and until we have secured a hell of a lot more real estate for them to inherit. I’m not sure how long that will take…I’m just grateful that my wife’s mind is set up a lot more like mine, than yours. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is the Best Dressed Man in Nigeria- Banky W

Banky W is all about “the Ebuka effect” in this article.

Nigerian singer, cum music boss, turned actor, Banky W, has taken some time out to pen reasons why Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is the best dressed man in Nigeria.

The TV host, who emerged 8th in the maiden edition of the BBNaija show has now hosted the show for the second straight year.

Speaking on his dress sense, the singer stated that Ebuka can transform anything he wears. According to him, he turned the BBN Sunday eviction nights to his own personal shows. Viewers looked forward to who will be evicted and what the host will wear, he said. Not even Ameriac’s Ryan Seacrest has been able to make such fashion statement as Ebuka.

According to the singer, designers now scamper to have the fashion enthusiast wear their designs.

He wrote;

I believe it’s fair to say that Ebuka is unarguably the best dressed Man in Nigeria, and possibly Africa. When you think of TV show hosts, even the extremely accomplished ones like American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest… you never really notice their style. They tend to blend into the show and become a part of the fabric; Ebuka, on the other hand, doesn’t blend in, and doesn’t just stand out… he shines. He has completely shattered the TV presenter mould; viewers look forward to the weekly Sunday Eviction shows to see who was getting kicked out, but also just to see what Ebuka wore.

He turned Sunday nights into his very own personal fashion show. His outfits trended online as much as the contestants did. In a business where stylists have to beg, plead, sweet talk and cajole designers into lending their clothes for use in productions, Ebuka turned the table upside down. Designers are instead the ones scrambling to get him to wear their pieces.

This is because he has a singular transformative immediate and long-lasting impact on their market. Case in point: Circa “#BAAD2017”, Designer Ugo Monye had less than 4k followers, and was reportedly charging an at-best modest amount for a very innovative take on the “Agbada”; he had infact displayed that style of Agbada for over 6 months, with very little fanfare or success. And then Ebuka wore it. What happened next is astonishing: the designer’s followers got up to 30k in the first 24 hours, and now sits north of 75,000. The same could be said about his revenue. That Agbada style was sold for N50,000 prior to Ebuka wearing it. And now? The very same Agbada will require you to shell out $1,000 USD. I call that ‘The Ebuka Effect’

Banky W Speaks About his Relationship with Adesua, Says he wasn’t Looking for an Entertainer for a Wife

He is happy he married Adesua.

Nigeria’s one time most eligible bachelor, Banky W, speaks about the genesis of his relationship with his wife, Adesua Etomi. According to the singer, he did a background check on Adesua back in 2015 and found she was a spiritual person; this part of her impressed him. He said he wasn’t considering getting married to an entertainer but the beautiful miss Adesua swept him off his feet.

Excerpts from his interview below.

“I met Adesua in 2015 and after inquiring about her from her manager, Isioma, I went online to search for her and found her social media handles

“I looked her up online and I liked what I saw. I googled her, stalked her on the gram and a day or two later, I slid into her DM like the real man that I am

“I had two defining moments with Adesua. One was before we started speaking. It was actually when I was stalking her and I saw a video of her and her childhood friends singing worship songs and I felt like this is really refreshing to find someone in our line of work that would readily show this part of them

“The second part when I knew was when we took a private trip somewhere and it was the first time that she danced with me and at this point, I already knew she was a spiritual girl and a praying woman. But if I can confess, I was a little bit worried that when it comes to the turn ups and the fun, I wasn’t sure if she would be free like that and the very first time she danced with me, they were playing Rihanna’s ”Work” and she danced with me. Ladies and Gentlemen, once you have the spiritual and physical, you close shop, you move

”I wasn’t specifically looking for an entertainer as a wife because of what I presumed, but she took me off the balance

“I am glad I married Adesua because she understands my business and the pressure that comes with it.

Some words of advice.

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, in a tweet shared what looks like an advice to the Wellingtons.

One will recall that yesterday, social media went agog after Banky made a live video with Adesua’s backside in it. Many reacted to the video and advised the newly weds to take their lives off social media.

Kate Henshaw in her tweet seemed to be adding her voice to that of others asking that the couple tune down their social media presence. In her tweet, the actress advised that things should be kept private.

It’s easy to get sucked into the whole social media whirlpool but some things should just be kept private.” She wrote.

Kate Henshaw

Omotola Jolade Ekehinde was the first to advice the couple to take their marriage off social media. This was before their white wedding in Cape Town. After Cape Town, everyone is going to leave the couple and they will have to live with each other she said. They should stay off social media for a while she advised.

Let’s hope they learn from this one.

“Just discovered Banky W and I wedded on the same day” — Oritsefemi

Quick Question: How can he not know?

Saturday the 25th of November 2017 saw two of Nigeria’s big voices; Oritsefemi and Banky W walk down the aisle with their sweethearts.

Oritsefemi

The  two events were magnificent, with both brides looking fabulous in a fairytale stye. The fact however that the two singers chose the 25th to take the walk is no news. What is news surprisingly is Oritefemi’s claim that he didn’t know he shared the same date with the Wellingtons.

In an Instagram post, the singer shared a picture of the two beautiful brides and congratulated them. He then added that he didn’t know he shared the same date with the Wellingtons.

His post below:

Oritsefemi

“A very big congrats to this two amazing queens @nabila.fash and @adesuaetomi #on2017 #baad2017 … mehn just discovered we shared the same date , congrats bro @bankywellington ??”

The running rounds of putting together, a perfect wedding ceremony, like that of Oritsefemi and Nabila is enough to detach one from the world. One will easily excuse him on this ground because he was probably too busy to notice that he was getting married on the same day with Banky.

Whatever the case, congratulations to the latest couples, we can’t wait to welcome your cute kids to the world.
