Rema exits the North Carolina stage subtly

Nigerian singer Rema grabbed headlines on Sunday for abruptly leaving the stage during his performance at the Dreamville 2024 Festival in North Carolina.

The highly anticipated festival, spanning two days on April 6 and 7, boasted a star-studded lineup featuring J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Monica, and Muni Long.

Rema took the stage on day 2 alongside these music heavyweights. However, during his rendition of ‘Calm Down,’ one of his popular tracks, Rema encountered sound issues that forced him to pause his performance.

A video that quickly went viral captured Rema expressing dissatisfaction with the sound quality, labeling it “messed up” and asserting it was impeding his ability to deliver a stellar performance.

Addressing the sound problems, Rema stressed the need for equal treatment in sound quality for all artists, emphasizing its crucial role in ensuring top-notch performances for everyone.

“Hold on, there’s a lot of sound issues. It’s messing up my entire performance, I don’t feel sh*t at all,” he voiced.

“It’s so messed up. I’m representing Africa, and this is so messed up. If the sound can’t be perfect for every artist stepping on this stage… Africa is inside the house, and you’re messing sh*t up? I’ll step off this stage, fix it!”

In another clip, Rema voiced his concerns about the sound before exiting the stage.

“Too many sound issues, my people, I love you, good night,” he concluded.
