Ndlovukazi pays Senzo Meyiwa’s family a visit

Music star Ndlovukazi decided to pay a visit to parents of the late Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates star, Senzo Meyiwa.

She donated groceries worth R6,000 to the family, who are going through a rough patch after Senzo’s father suffered a stroke.

Senzo’s father can be seen crying in the photos that were taken.

Ndlovukazi decided to help the family out as she realized no one in the family is employed.

“I only realised when Bab Sam suffered a stroke that Senzo’s death really affected him. It shows that he has been suffering, especially since the case is still unsolved.

“As a musician I felt the need to donate the groceries just to meet them half way. It is not much but I knew I had to help. They need all the support they can get.”

She has therefore promised to donate groceries every month until the end of the year.

“What was hurting was that when he saw the groceries, Bab Sam just broke down, because he couldn’t speak. I knew it was tears of joy. Senzo’s mother was excited too.”

Ndlovukazi has also appealed to the businesses around Durban to assist the family.

Kelly Khumalo sister speaks on what went down the night Senzo died

Kelly Khumalo’s sister‚ Zandi‚ who was present when the late Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was killed‚ has described the happiness and joy around the dinner table just minutes before men stormed into the Vosloorus‚ Ekurhuleni‚ home.

Speaking on Ukhozi FM on Wednesday afternoon‚ Zandi said that since Senzo’s death‚ she and her family had been in constant contact with the police and had given them every little detail of that fateful day.

“Even on Saturday‚ I was at the police station. I arrived at 3pm [and stayed] until 12 at night. We were giving all the information we have to the police. We are trying our best to help as much as we can so that they can get the people who did this‚” she said.

Meyiwa was shot dead while visiting his girlfriend‚ Kelly Khumalo‚ at her mother’s house in Vosloorus in October 2014.

Zandi explained what happened on that day during the radio insert.

“It was a Sunday. We were coming from a show which was at Dorothy Nyembe [park]. We were happy‚ and we went and fetched Senzo’s friend‚ whose name is Tumelo‚ in Spruitview. We arrived at home‚ sat down and ate. It was a very happy day. My mother had prepared Sunday dinner for us.

“Late in the afternoon‚ Longwe [Twala] called saying he is coming [to the house]. I said he should come because my mother had cooked. When he arrived‚ I went to fetch him outside. Then all of us began to eat.

Then my mother and Kelly also ran towards Senzo. Kelly began to cry out‚ ‘Please help my husband’‚” she said.

Still in the bathroom‚ Zandi saw Meyiwa lying on his back‚ looking up.

Then one of the men came to take the phone‚ which was being charged on the sofa‚ next to where Senzo had fallen.

“My mother tried to hide the phone but this boy came and hit my mother with his elbow in the stomach‚ and she dropped the phone.

“All of this I was looking at while being in the bathroom. Kelly continued to scream. As she continued to scream‚ I realised that these boys were gone. I then rushed out and went to take my phone and tried to call. I did not know which number to dial because I was in panic. I then went outside and called neighbours‚” Zandi said.

She then went to call neighbours and one of her mother’s friends‚ who lives in the house opposite hers.

When she came back‚ she saw that Senzo was being taken to his BMW SUV. She said she asked why an ambulance wasn’t called‚ but was told it would take a long time.

“We then got into the car. I then continued to apply pressure on the chest wound where Senzo was hit. As we drove along the way‚ I could see that Senzo wanted to close his eyes… I then felt that his stomach was becoming cold. We arrived at the hospital and went to the emergency ward. Medical staff began examining him and later my mother arrived. She rushed to where medical staff was helping Senzo‚ the next thing I heard was her voice screaming‚” Zandi said.

When asked where Twala was during the ordeal‚ Zandi replied: “Longwe simply rushed outside‚ and I don’t know where he went. I only saw him when he arrived with my mother in hospital.”

Chicco Twala tells his side of the story on Senzo’s death

Chicco Twala has opened up on what happened on the night Senzo died.

The former Bafana Bafana player was killed in 2014 in an alleged robbery at Kelly Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. No arrests have been made.

Parody account @AdvBarryRoux caused a stir on Twitter last week after claiming that Chicco’s son, Longwe was behind the shooting.

Speaking to Metro FM’s MoFlava and Masechaba Ndlovu, Chicco recalled what happened on that fateful day.

He says Kelly called him, crying.

What Chicco had to say

“I rushed to the house. I found Kelly, Longwe and another childhood friend of Senzo’s. Senzo was lying there. They said two guys came in and wanted to rob them. I don’t want to talk on behalf of Longwe. He’s an adult. I want to talk about my part,” he said.

Chicco is adamant that his gun was not used on the day.

“It wasn’t missing. My firearm is always with me. I got it in 1989 and it is always in my safe.”

He added that if his son was the person who shot Senzo he would have turned him in.

“If Longwe had killed Senzo, I promise you Masechaba, I would be the first person to act. I don’t care. He’s my son. But if he killed Senzo, I would have pushed for him to go to jail. Leave me out of this thing. I wasn’t there.”

He confirmed that police took his gun for ballistic tests after the murder.

“They took my firearm and about four weeks later they said my gun is not the one.”

Senzo’s father, Sam Meyiwa, is convinced that all those who were present in the house are covering up what really happened to his son.

He appeared on Mo and Masechaba’s show several days ago and told the presenters he does not buy the story that his son was killed in a robbery gone wrong.

“There was no such thing as a robbery, the person who killed Senzo is amongst the boys who were at Kelly’s house. The culprit is amongst those boys… The people who were present when my son was shot are causing me so much pain. They know who killed Senzo but they are keeping quiet,” he said during the interview.

Sam hinted that he knows who killed his son.

“…there is someone amongst those boys who killed Senzo. His father paid money to bribe the police so this boy does not get arrested. The thing is I can’t say who the boy is exactly.”

Media reports claimed at the weekend that police are close to making an arrest in the case.

But Sam told eNCA he has not been briefed by police about any developments.

“It’s been four years investigating one case, and no one has been arrested. Instead I’m getting death threats that they want to kill me because I’m the one making noise, and when I’m dead it will be quiet. But I can’t keep quiet.”

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula took to Twitter to confirm that officers are “very hard” to find Senzo’s killers.

“We are working very hard to find Senzo’s killers. If anyone has into please approach saps and ministry by all means necessary (sic),” he  tweeted.

Senzo Meyiwa’s family fighting to keep his house

Senzo Meyiwa’s family has endured its fair share of drama over the past few years and the latest saga involves their late son’s home in Durban.

A Sunday Sun report claims that community members in the area of Adams Mission, a neighbourhood in the South of Durban, are fed up with the house that Senzo left incomplete after he died.

The late Bafana Bafana star was building a home in the area but the project has yet to be completed because his family does not have the funds to see it through.

They also report that communities members have complained about the house being used as a hideout for local criminals and demanded it be demolished to keep the area safe. They also allege that the unfinished building is now falling apart and have urged the local chief to expedite a demolition.

The Meyiwa family has responded to these comments and denied some of the accusations leveled at the property.

What Senzo Meyiwa father said

Senzo’s father, Sam Meyiwa, spoke to the press and said:

“They say that they want it demolished because it is falling apart but it is not falling apart. Senzo was building it before he died and it just needs a few things more and a roof. We want to finish it because he loved that house and we want to honour his wishes for it to be done. We can’t demolish it,”

In an interview with Tshisa Live, Sam revealed that the house has been delayed because he hasn’t been working. The housing project was being funded by Senzo while he was still alive:

“We don’t have any money because Senzo was working and I am not working. We were supposed to get money from Senzo’s bosses but we still don’t have the money. I don’t know why our family is being punished like this. I will be meeting with some of the leaders in the area next week to discuss the house and I hope that someone can help us.”

This year will mark four years since Senzo Meyiwa passed away but it seems that his family is still plagued by his financial obligations, as well as the fact that his killers are still running loose to this day.

Three years on: Remembering Senzo Meyiwa

Exactly three years ago today, Senzo Meyiwa met his untimely death.

He was shot and killed in Vosloorus during a robbery at his girlfriend’s house, Kelly Khumalo. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Three years on, no arrests have been made in connection with the soccer player’s murder thus far. His fans have honored his memory. They have also reminded the justice system that his family has not received justice for his death.

According to an article, top investigators were hired to solve Meyiwa’s case. They however classified it as a cold case as police investigations were unsuccessful in getting to the bottom of Meyiwa’s murder.

The private investigators were quick to add that the case went cold because there were too many people working on it.

We hope that justice will prevail soon enough.
