Simphiwe Dana joins Universal Music Group family

Simphiwe Dana becomes the latest musician to join record label Universal Music Group.

She took to Instagram to share how long a process it had been from the negotiation to signing the deal.

“In the past year there was so much I couldn’t talk about. Everything seemed to be taking forever and I had to trust the process. And write and write and write. To offset how heavy my spirit can get, my songs are testimony to this, I try and keep life light around me. I love to joke and laugh to keep that ever present depression away. I’m happy to say on my birthday that I have finally signed that contract which took me months and months to negotiate.”

Simphiwe has not only signed a record deal, but an artist development partnership too.

“I also have some other surprises for you in store. But I’ll say, this contract does not only enable me to deliver a stellar album, but we also are doing a separate partnership where I will identify, develop and groom new artists plus those artists who never got a proper chance during the production of their work. So in a sense I’m about to become a big aunty to a few choice artists of my own choosing.”

Congratulations to her.

Simphiwe Dana clarifies state of her voice

After performing at Winnie Mandela’s memorial service, Simphiwe Dana was clearly not satisfied with her voice.

She therefore saw a need to clarify to her fans that there is nothing wrong with her voice.

” I need to clarify something. There’s nothing wrong with my voice. I have a very big voice with a wide range. And id I don’t get enough time to warm it up it can embarrass me, like it did the other day. My apologies for that,” she tweeted.

For Simphiwe’s fans however, they found no fault in her performance.
