Author, entrepreneur, and podcaster Lilian Ng’ang’a has fiercely hit back at long-running social media narratives painting her as a serial dater, clarifying that her romantic life over the last fifteen years has been restricted to just two partners.
Appearing as a guest on a popular digital podcast hosted by veteran media personality Alex Mwakideu, the former Machakos County First Lady addressed the intense internet trolling and cyberbullying that peaked during her highly publicized separation from Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua and her subsequent marriage to alternative hip-hop artist Juliani.
Calling Out Misogynistic Labeling
Ng’ang’a expressed deep frustration at how quickly public observers weaponize derogatory insults against independent women who choose to walk away from high-profile relationships.
She revealed that the sudden transition from her previous long-term relationship to her current marriage triggered a wave of uncalled-for slut-shaming on Kenyan social media corridors.
“It’s so crazy because when I left my relationship… people used to call me the M-word like I’m a whore and all that, and I said, ‘what the f*** are you talking about?’ I’ve been with two men from age 25 to 40. I’ve been with two men,” Ng’ang’a stated.
However, when Mwakideu playfully prodded her to reveal the number of partners she had interacted with before hitting the age of 25, the author drew a firm boundary, declining to elaborate and keeping her early youth private.
The Spiritual and Emotional Energy of Dating
Delving deeper into her philosophies on modern dating and intimacy, Ng’ang’a argued that casual hookup culture carries distinct emotional and psychological consequences for women compared to men.
She advanced the view that intimacy involves an exchange of deep personal energies, suggesting that multiple casual encounters can diminish a woman’s holistic well-being.
“Unlike men, women lose their dignity and well-being when they sleep with multiple partners since they are recipients of different energies deposited in them during intercourse,” she reasoned.
Her conservative take on biological and emotional boundaries strongly resonated with Mwakideu, who nodded in agreement and vowed to pass down similar values and protective virtues to his own daughters.
Mixed Reactions From Netizens
Despite Ng’ang’a’s candid attempt to set the record straight and deconstruct the online myths surrounding her personal life, her statements have sparked a fresh round of debate across digital spaces.
While a large section of progressive netizens commended her for her vulnerability, accountability, and the courage to define her own narrative, online skeptics remained cynical, arguing that public figures often sanitize their relationship histories to fit prevailing social expectations.
