As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ this year, the only thing we can do is pray for grace. In essence, Nigeria’s Sinach and Ada have teamed up for “Fix my eyes on You.”
“Fix my Eyes on You” is a tune that reminds Christians to not forget their hope in the Lord.
Lyrics
Done purely in English, the vocal blend of the two is breath-taking. Sinach and Ada take turns to bring our hearts closer to God.
All my hope is found in you, I’ve found in you ,There’s no fear, There’s no doubt
The one who walked on water holds my hand, You who began this good work in me you are able
You perfect it all, You make all things new, Like only you can
This a reminder that we need to fix our eyes on the Lord because with him all things are possible.
“Fix my eyes on You” song serves as a beacon of hope in these trying times when the world is dealing with the covid 19 pandemic.
This song comes barely a week after Sinach released ‘All things are ready’.
Unlike most artists who take a break after having a baby, the award- winning artist seemingly has chosen differently.
Talk of that heavenly feeling, these two give us a reason to go to church! Oow no more church till further notice. However, the song is a reminder that Jesus is omnipresent.
Further the Waymaker hit-maker also has other songs such as Ommema, He did it again, Give Thanks, The name of Jesus, Stand amazed, An overflow and rejoice.
Ada Ehi, International singer and song writer is popularly known for her song Only you Jesus. Other songs she’s done include I Overcame, Jesus (You are able), the Final Say, I testify, Cheta, On my matter, I have confidence in you Jesus, I’M A Miracle and Beautiful among many others.
The hundreds of comments on YouTube are indication enough of how blessed their fans are to receive this tune.
After 5 months of waiting and almost losing hope, Runtown has released the official video of “Redemption.” The Nigerian song writer who possesses amazing vocal prowess has however been underrated so far. Runtown seems to have walked in the shadows of a few big names in the industry.
What people haven’t realized yet is the huge potential carried by Runtown. Only listeners with the ear for good music appreciate his talent. Nigerians seem to highly value songs which are vigorous and can be danced to.
Runtown however walks a different path with the grace and finesse possessed by just a few. He has been in the industry for years and has done songs such as International Birdman Killer, Mad over You, Energy and Emotions.
Despite not being celebrated as much, he has gathered a good number of fans who have been waiting eagerly for this video.
Video
Set in vast, plush and serene fields: the video is exotic and depicts much affluence. The horse and doves involved compliment the exotic ambiance intended for the song. The sense of fashion in the video is also worth mentioning besides the two dancers whose dance choreography is spot on.
It is also worth mentioning that the lack of nudes, or scenes with drugs does not take away the beauty of the video in anyway. The fans are treated to pure talent and natural beauty in its authenticity.
Lyrics
“I swear you do not know what you do to me
Dangerous what you do to me
You go give me hypertension oh,”
Oh baby this is my confession oh
Give you love na my intention oh
Baby show my ride for me
She be my redemption”
Nothing ever goes wrong with a love song. If the lyrics are well arranged as in this song: except for the accent interfering, Runtown will end up in love.
It’s a laid-back song, easy smooth beats and quite calming and therapeutic.
Rayvanny seems to be on a “woeing” mission in the Western Part of Africa. This time he has teamed up with one of Nigeria’s biggest Rapper Phyno to bring you their latest jam ‘Slow’.
In what looks like a praise to the African woman Rayvanny has incorporated the Swahili language. To many it may seem like an urge to reach every audience in the continent but he is keen to keep his roots intact.
Phyno on his part used his baritone voice to bring out the musicality in the song.
Slow
This is a feel good love song. A son g that has man in love and only thing he can do is appreciate his woman using his lyrics.
In the beginning Rayvanny starts off with a description of why he loves his woman.
He says, “You got the power in the beauty Quality, unarembua au makengeza Vicheche namba nishadelete Kibinti, fujo mi sikuziweza….’
In other words, he won’t let go of her no matter what.
Of course with incorporation of metaphors in the Swahili lyrics. That I must say is another beauty in Rayvanny’s music.
As the song goes on, he keeps telling the girl about his love and how he loves it when she dances and whines her waist thus,You kill me Slow slow slow slow down My beiby taratibu nyonga kidogo.
Later in the song, Phyno inputs his voice of course with pidgin there that we couldn’t translate either but worked for the song.
Video Production
The blend of Afro-fusion in the video is what sells this song most. Use of vixens dancing in ankara was beautifully done. The photo studio set up was also well done.
I mean African clothing are just magical.
The song was done by the ever magical Wasafi man Lizer Classic and S2Kizzy. The visuals done by Mr. C.
Flipside
However, for as much as Rayvanny is still on the hunt for audience in the West, this jam was way below his standards. He does much better even on rap. Well that is just what I think.
For rating I will go with a 6/10.Tell us what you think.
Comfy and stylish, slip-on or laced-up; how do you want your sneakers?
(Guest publication by Cephas Omaku)
First off, let’s agree you’d ditched those heavy, out of shape, full-on athletic shoes with a wavy sole that creaks when you walk (that’s not so 2019).
If it’s made in the ’90s with a design not so overboard, sleek and futuristic, they belong on the top shelf.
You sure wish you never had to worry about buying fakes. If we have our ways, we would have ‘legit’ made in Nigeria Aba sneakers instead of horrifying prototypes. Imagine a sneakerhead rule this country, I will order two pairs of (different colour) Nike Air Max 1 and never have to face excessive heavy duty charges. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Who says beggars can’t be choosers? Just don’t be blind enough not to check out those sneakers before you go for one.
But, this is Nigeria! Slay mama would slay; government sanctions remain (God forbid those tax tariff stopping the average Nike store from importing the good stuff). It’s about good, good stuff this year. Elegant kicks every ‘slay mama’ should go for – ‘jakpa!’ If you can’t afford some not-so-generic brands.
#1 The Adidas Deerupt Runner Parley
Deerupt: From ‘Disrupt’ and ‘Erupt’.
Glam up your thick, fit, curvy body with this Adidas Deerupt and Parley collaboration kick. Adidas and Parley shoes are made from recycled plastic from ocean debris. Just like the name, Deerupt, disrupt your Instagram feed with cool fit pic inspired by the shoe’s bold visual identity and – I bet you – your followers will erupt. That’s realistic logic.
Beware of Replicas: Its unique selling points are an ultra-lightweight knit-webbed upper material, EVA (boost technology for responsive cushioning) midsole, an OrthoLite insole (footbed), rubber outer sole and NFC chip in the heel.
Spot the fakes: Remove the insoles and wear the shoe. It immediately gets uncomfortable. If you have an NFC phone, tap it just by the heel of the shoe for detailed product information and to see reviews.

Casual outfit queens love everyday wear sneakers like their bag varieties. These cuties are yet to understand how Vans material makeover continues to match their love for varieties with infinite colour variations of the beloved Old Skool.

The looks are a work in progress. They keep adding plenty of interesting new patchworks on a rolling basis. The low tops can be rocked with any outfit that comes to your imagination. (just get more pairs at a fair price).
Beware of Replicas: They come in low tops (no high ankle support). They retain the classic silhouette design. Comfy enough for different activities, like going to class in the evening and clubbing right after. They retain the ‘side stripe’ of the iconic shoemaker.

#3 Nike Arrowz for her
These are easy to maintain. You can even throw it in the washing machine (so long they ain’t suede). Put em in a pillowcase, take out the insole & laces and thank me later
Connecting retro and contemporary sneaks. They’re very light and available in toned colourways. Arrowz comes with laces to give you that feel of the old and perforated strap-like pieces, a cue from the sporty vibe of the Sock Dart. The laces-and-strap blend brings the golden era of the Presto (early 21st century) to mind. Its subtle shades will blend easily with your outfit of choice.
Beware of replicas: Arrowz combines both laces and a midfoot strap. The upper looks like a knitted material, so it’s well aerated. Flex grooves on the outsole allow for natural flexibility.
Spot the fakes: Remember, Nike doesn’t use replacement boxes unless the retailer damaged the box and switched it to their own. Check to see if its lining is made of textile.
#4 Adidas ZX Flux ‘Xeno’

Spot the fakes: Spot the 3M reflective material on the tongue and along the heel (it wears a lot of colours than you can count, the moment it goes under a bright light). The ZX Flux model is known to have torsion technology (strong arch support with flexibility on the forefoot and heel.
#5 Nike Tanjun sneaks for girlfriend
The Tanjun has a suede eyelet, while the Roshe One (from the Roshe line of merchandise) has metal eyelets plus more holes on the tongue.
The Nike Tanjun is apparently inspired by the Roshe Line (after all, it’s its the sequel). The midsole is basically like the latter but with wave hits at the mid-section for better aesthetics.
It’s incredibly lightweight, flexible and well ventilated. It has a padded collar and tongue, which makes it comfy.
Beware of replicas: Simplicity (that’s ‘tanjun’ in Japanese) is the keyword here. The plush feel of the interior comes from the soft fabric with which they’re made. They feel quite comfortable without socks and comes with a tailor-made no-sew upper (designed with diamond grid mesh).
Spot the fake: Check for huge Nike logo either side of the shoe.
#6 Vans SK8-Hi Models
Just call them the fashionista’s edition. A high top version of the Old Skool which retains the same excellent support and comfy structure. They are trendy, beautiful, and cute. TheVans SK8-Hi shoes have received several deconstructions of its exciting silhouette since it’s initial release some 40 years ago: changes to the makeup of its upper material and an introduction of different colourways (ladies go for the pinks, reds, purples, and yellows).
Regardless of your fashion taste, you’d sure find an SK8-Hi sneaker ready to blend in with your skinny jeans, skirts, and shorts
Beware of replicas: The shoe has an upper part that’s made of suede and canvas materials. Other prominent features are the waffle rubber outsole and the trademark side stripes.
Spot the fakes: Check the barcode and labels for country of production and shoe size. The price should start at $60 (about NGN 21, 500) per pair – special editions, limited versions, collaborations and premium could sell higher.
#7 Supra casuals
Like, seriously, who needs Timbs when you have a Supra Vaider cold-weather edition
They take your kick game ‘above’ the ordinary. Need a replacement for your Air Jordans? Your casual day function gets a new lease of life with its easy-styled and laid back design. Friends, who have recommended them, like that they come in a number of colourways (remember what they say about the spice of life?).
Beware of replicas: Chill, there are no significant others. The upper design is made up of two different materials (leather and suede). It comes with extra-soft breathable inside lining with lots of padding around the ankle. A midsole dual layer gives it a trendy look.
Spot the fakes: Check for perforated details on the midfoot panel and tongue (they are there so you don’t sweat your steps out). The sole is really flexible with thread patterns.
#8 Reebok Classic Leather love
This breakthrough beauty continues to be cherished (thanks to different iterations) 36 years since its release. The female-friendly kick was initially designed for running but has since shifted focus from performance to lifestyle.
The Reebok Classic Freestyle ‘Crocodile12’: Other notable variations include Classic Leather Gum, UE, 2.0, Camp EBK, Altered, Pastels, Urban Descent, Low BP and many more
Beware of replicas: It was the first running kick ever to get a leather upper – many of its wearers have testified to its comfy and supportive features.
Spot the fakes: Read reviews and ask questions. Check what material its upper is made of – should be leather or soft suede (as in the case of the Clean Exotics).
#9 New Balance Classics fits
One of the best silhouette out there with timeless and exciting colourways.
They’ve been mostly underrated, yet, the fittest pair of running/workout shoes you would be pleased to buy. Do you lean towards the Adidas Ultra Boost but can’t seem to cough out NGN 90,000 for some sneakers? Cop this athletic, chic pairs.

Spot the fakes: New balance logo could be found on the footbed and heel of the outsole (check that the circled registered trademark ‘R’ imprint isn’t missing.
According to the Spectator Index, Nigeria has been ranked the second worst electricity supply Nation in 2017. This ranking was released on its twitter handle. Yemen was ranked the worst electricity supply Nation.
Comedian Seyi law to run for 2019 presidential election
Since the declaration of Independence on the 1st of October 1960, Nigeria and Nigerians have transcended from different times and trends but whatever the side of the coin, we have lived happily through it; Cheers to us!!!
Nigeria hasn’t always justified the faith of it’s people but the era of communication has portrayed us in good light as a people that have mastered the art of turning limes to lemonades.
Since the advent of computer mediated communication, the nation has received a boom in the entertainment industry which somehow, always gives rest to the Nigerian mind.
Social media in some ways is a very special tool with which an average Nigerian is able to lend a voice to issues of National concern and this, most times is done with unrivaled sense of humour which places us above others as one of the happiest people alive and this is against all odds.
In the Music and Dance scene, we have had amazing dance steps to go with the best of Afro music the world will ever have. As one Nigeria, we danced ‘suo’ from the Danfo Driver’ Classic, to ‘Galala’. As a nation bound by the same social needs, we embraced and danced to Olu Maintain’s ‘Yahooze’, then there was ‘Alanta’, ‘Alingo’ then ‘Etighi’. All the way from Ghana, we learned and danced ‘Azonto’ like it was our own. Together, we danced ‘Skelewu’, ‘Shoki’ and ‘Shakiti Bobo’ and together, we are still dancing to happy times and good tides.
The movie industry has also contributed in giving us hope, our film makers have helped project a future of a happy ever after, they have also done well to shed light on the past that brought us where we are now. Our rich cultural heritage is not left out on this one. Tunde Kelani’s ‘Saworiode’ is one of such movies.
In these times of Social Media, the roles of clap backs, puns, short skits, vox pops and other social media tools cannot be over emphasised in our quest for laughter. Fela must have been a prophet to describe us as ”Suffering and Smiling” for there are no tougher times than these but as the strong and happy people that we are, we will transition to greater times in the same high spirits as One Nigeria.
Looks like these Kenyans have a thing or two against Nigeria and Nigerians. Last week, it was Vera Sidika, now it’s Sheila’s turn to diss our nation.
In an Instagram post, the filthily rich, Sweden based Kenyan Social media sensation said Nigerians are frustrated. This came in reaction to CNN’s list of World’s most stressful cities where Lagos ranked third most stressful city in the world.
CNN’s Rating
Sheila Posted the image of the ranking and wrote…
”Been to Nigeria a few times when I was working for Sony and having dated a Nigerian and tried to do business with a few made me question my sanity and my once a month trip to see my therapist became weekly!! I was wondering if there is something wrong with me!! My therapist advised me to stop going to Lagos which from April I haven’t and I am so happy and feel sane!! Now I understand I am perfectly normal!! that country everyone is frustrated!! Everyone likes to shout and I can’t even scream to save my life!! God bless Nigeria”.
Sheila, the daughter of one of Kenya’s top politicians is known for partying and her extravagant lifestyle. She once lashed out on her Nigerian girlfriend whom she claimed stabbed her in the back after taking her as a sister.
Her post bellow…
Could the problem be that these Kenyans keep falling into the wrong hands or that Nigerians are always too quick to play a smart one on their Kenyan counterparts leaving them with a dark marks to always remember Nigeria for?
Whatever the case, we certainly love our Lagos and Kenyans are always welcome no matter what.
