Emerging rapper Ngesh wa Vasha, known for her contribution to the Spider Clan track Kaveve Kazoze, has addressed her recent absence from social media.
Regarding the short-lived nature of Spider Clan, Ngesh wa Vasha stated that despite the song’s significant popularity and fan support, the group did not generate any income from YouTube.
Consequently, they were unable to continue producing new music. She emphasized that she refused to remain in the public eye under such circumstances.
In a conversation with a blogger, Ngesh wa Vasha expressed her frustration with the idea of maintaining a public profile while facing financial hardship. The artist, who stepped out of the spotlight following the brief popularity of their hit song, explained that she is currently broke and sees no point in appearing online simply to entertain others while struggling in her personal life.
The rapper, also recognized for her memorable verse in the song cash crop za Nyandarua ni mawaru, where the line became a popular sing-along, disclosed that while her Spider Clan colleagues wished to pursue strategies to maintain online relevance, she disagreed with this approach.
She firmly stated that she would not present a false image online to please fans while privately dealing with difficulties.
This candid revelation elicited sympathy from some, while others inquired about potential ways to support her return to the limelight once her situation improves.
2Mbili, who recently spearheaded a successful online fundraising campaign for the release of Khalif Kairo, questioned whether fans would be willing to contribute similarly to help Ngesh wa Vasha regain her footing.
It’s worth noting that during the peak popularity of their hit song, Spider Clan met with public figures such as Senator Karen Nyamu and businessman Mike Sonko, both of whom pledged their support to the rising artists. However, these promises ultimately did not materialize.
