Before Rayvanny exits Wasafi Records, he needs to get his ducks in a row

Rayvanny is said to be the latest Wasafi Records artist seeking his emancipation following Harmonize’s rather strained and acrimonious exit from the Diamond Platnumz headed record label.

The young lad has been the subject of Tanzanian rumours for quite a while now and the main focus of those rumours is whether or not he is gearing up to leave Wasafi records.

What is interesting is that despite the fact that he has just recently released a song in collaboration with the head of Wasafi Records, Diamond Platnumz, the rumours have refused to abate. This actually leads me to think that indeed, this smoke is accompanied by some level of fire.

And if he does indeed decide to leave and set up his own record label, then it would be nothing other than the geometric progression of an artist whose ambitions have grown as his stature has and he has been under the wings of the most successful East African artists so it is only right that he would be itching to show himself what he is capable of.

What is, however, important for Rayvanny to remember is that first, he has a lot of options for how to go about this. Perhaps, he could explore discussing with the management at Wasafi and negotiating his own imprint within Wasafi Records.

With this option, he could work to minimize his risk and at the same time grow his own record label bigger than Wasafi Records if possible. And should that come to pass, he would be the main man like his very own Diamond Platnumz because he would have shown not only an acumen for this type of business but also that he has his finger on the pulse of the culture.

If this isn’t an appealing idea to him then he also needs to ensure that he goes about breaking away in a manner that does not leave his career overshadowed by the decision to leave. And here Rayvanny should study the case of Harmonize carefully. You see, when Harmonize decided to leave, he did so with a lot of fanfare and controversy engulfing his decision and so far, his music career hasn’t allowed him to live down those circumstances.

As a result, harmonize is not on the same level as Diamond in spite of the fact that he clearly has the Tanzanian President’s goodwill. If anything, he comes off as a hyped and overinflated Rayvanny.

Rayvanny should give himself an eighteen-month runway and start planning his exit well ahead of time including starting to woo investors in his dream.

Wasafi Records has decided to seek out different influences to sustain their longevity and different sounds for their artists.

Diamond Platnumz’ record label, Wasafi Records also known as WCB Records has a track record of tapping into either Nigerian or Congolese influences which allow their artists and producers a wide array of sounds.

And it is actually working well enough to make Wasafi Records the biggest record label in Eastern and Central Africa. Diamond himself has gone to Nigeria, sought permission from Naira Marley and used his instrumentals and arrangements for his own song. That is how we got Baba Lao.

Then when Diamond Platnumz wants to put out yet another street anthem with a twist, he went to DRC and tapped Innos to work with him on the artist’s remix of Yope Rmx.

Diamond Platnumz is well aware that when it comes to churning out ballads, he has that covered. So he really isn’t pressed to work with anyone else for ballads. And that same formula has been adopted for Rayvanny.

The guy has tapped into West African influences for his latest collaboration with Diamond, Amaboko. The song is an upbeat street anthem that is clearly meant to get you and yours dancing with a heavy Mr real influence. It is such a dope homage to Nigerian music that in the remix if he got Mr Real or Naira Marley or better.

The reason why this is a dope strategy is the fact that it allows Wasafi records artists not just a wide array of sounds (which serves to make their albums diverse sounding and also appeal to a wider audience) but also makes it such that they can work with artists from different cultures with ease.

Mbosso treats us to a new tune ‘ATE’

Favourite Wasafi artiste is back with a new tune Ate after Shillingi. In this new jam, he has not disappointed and just like always the voice is still there.

It is a love song and it is just amazing to listen to. What does this dude use when writing his lyrics? Mbosso is a name that is worth the effort and time for sure.

To start with, In Ate, the singer is describing the activities he will undertake with this sensual lover. The beats first before we look at the lyrics are just dope. Whoever says that Mbosso is not a brand is just wrong.

Whether in Wasafi or not, Mbosso is a great name and his jams are just a confirmation of who he is. He is worth the time and effort.

Mbosso is going all about love in ‘ATE’

Nataka longa na wewe Nikufunze mapenzi Mwenzako nayajua. This verse itself is enough to tell you that Mbosso is in love. To add on, he is asking the girl to come so that he can teach him more on love.

Nikupe michezo hatari Uzitidi takata Tuwe ng’aring’ari Dangote Tanasha. Our girl Tanasha is not missing out this time on Wasafi hits. Dangote in this case is the boss and it seems the song is also dedicated to them.

Mimi dakitari Dakitari wa mapenzi Dozi yangu temethali Inatibu na kuenzi. Mbosso in ATE describes himself as a lover doctor and for sure he might be one as his songs are getting all the love.

Twende Zanzibari Comoro Mombasa Tucheze Somali Ndombolo chakacha. Also, it is love that will involve a lot of touring the world. Like in this case, they will tour even Kenyan coast Mombasa and enjoy the Chakacha dances.

There is a lot of sexual content though coded and this is good. In conclusion, it is a nice song that can be played even at weddings and on the radio.

Finally, Mbosso gets a rating of 7/10 in ATE.

Rayvanny features Rowlene in his new jam ‘Girlfriend’

Rayvanny is back with a new jam dubbed Girlfriend. In this jam he has featured Rowlene. This is dope. The boy who is signed under Wasafi records has been doing so well. In Girlfriend, it is a collaboration of great voices.

I didn’t know that Rayvanny got such good command in English. The style he has adopted for this song is just great. He says that he needs a Girlfriend more than a friend. Isn’t this what most people want.

Rowlene is a South African singer songwriter and aspiring actress. Born and raised in Elsies River, Cape Town. Rowlene performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She dropped her first single titled ‘Imposter’ early in 2015.

Also, I feel like Wasafi members are working under pressure to capture the whole of Africa. Recently their boss has also been doing a lot of collaborations.

Audi Production of ‘Girlfriend’

To start with, this jam got very good beats. They are just capturing one’s attention immediately. This is the second song from Rayvanny’s collection that am falling in love with.

The team behind this jam is one to sort when one wants quality. Girlfriend has been produced by Rashdon and mixed by Lizer classic.

Ravyvanny is a great artist and he always delivers something good. Can’t wait to see the video for this jam.

Message and delivery

There is always some message in every piece of art. First, Girlfriend has been delivered in a lovely tone. This just a superb collaboration. The way Rayvanny and Rowlene are taking turns to perform their lines is just so great.

The song is at heart. What do I mean? It means that the song can be felt from the singers emotions. This something that most musicians fail to give their songs. I mean you will easily feel the flow in this jam.

To add on that, the message is all about someone who needs a lover. It is a love song, what do you expect from Wasafi? In addition, the lyrics are great and they really emphasize on the songs title.

Also, we must acknowledge good work. This is good and these kind of mergers should keep coming.

Last but not least, I rate the song at 7/10.

Penzi lake ajab: Mbosso from Wasafi is back with ‘Maajab”

Mbosso is among the boys at Wasafi Records who seem to be working really hard.In the past two weeks they have been on the spree of releasing hit after hit.Just after the release of his Biography documentary, Mbosso is back on the scene with a new song titled ‘Maajab”.

For that we the fans appreciate.

Just as you would expect the song is all about love.Who doesn’t want to be loved?

Lyrics

The lyrics in the song are rather poetic and coded.The Swahili used is is very simple from the outward look of it.

However the lyrics tell a story of love.In the song Mbosso describes the kind of love he is receiving from his woman.

He starts off with,

“Hii Imara kashikilia, na Avibe Bichwa,Walahi Kanipatia, Anastahili sifa.

Chumba Kizima cha nukia,Uturi Kajifisha Vidole nasimamia, Ukingoni nafikishwa…”

Need I explain more?

He says she is the kind of woman that every man would wish to have because ‘Penzi lake ni la Ajabu ananipa penzi la ajaab’

Further he goes on to describe how his woman takes care of him.Sadly not many men can a test to this in this day.

“….Ananikosha mwili kwa maji ya madafu,yeye ndio kocha na ananifunza kucheza rafu…..”mmmhhh!!

Clearly Mbosso anaona penzi la ajab yaani maajab.

Production

Any production from Wasafi records is always one to anticipate.We will keep waiting for the video which I believe will be top notch.

The audio was done by the music master himself,Lizer Classic and Mocco Genious.

The Nadekezwa hit maker is surely out to make music for the world. Despite his fall back from his group he did not give up.

He was picked up by friends and had to prove himself and this is just another of the many big jams we the fans keep expecting.

As we wait for the video I will give it 7/10 rating.

Video: Diamond and Rich Mavoko finally meet face to face after falling out

Singer Diamond Platnumz has met his former employee Rich Mavoko for the first time since Mavoko launched a nasty legal fight against his label and won.

The two men who have been topping headlines after their fall out met face to face at the National Arts Council, Tanzania (BASATA) on Thursday after Mavoko launched a complaint against WCB claiming that his contract had a problem.

Mavoko managed to break free from his contract with Wasafi records after winning the case against WCB he had submitted before BASATA.

BASATA then came out to share that it will intervene the situation and try to calm the two parties down.

Rich Mavoko signed a contract with WCB in June 2016. The singer was previously signed by Kenyan record label Kaka Empire.

Diamond’s manager Sallam SK Mendez , speaking during an interview on The Playlist on Times FM, said Rich Mavoko was not honest in claiming that WCB was exploiting him.

“Mpaka sasa sielewi malalamiko ya Mavoko ni yapi kwa sababu ukisema sisi tunamnyonya mtu hicho kitu hakiwezekani alafu isitoshe pesa ambayo tumewekeza kwa Rich Mavoko haijarudi hata robo,” said Sallam SK Mendez.

Juma Jux afunguka kuhusu suala la kujiunga na Wasafi Records

Jux ambaye ni msanii mkubwa bongo anaonekana kufanya vyema na wimbo wake mpya utaniua.

Hatah ivyo akizungumza na Planet Bongo ya EA Radio msanii huyo alisema kuwa Wasafi record ni label nzuri lakini hajawahi kufikirikia kujiunga na label hiyo.

Ni kitu kizuri sio kibaya kwa sababu ile ni record label, hiyo nafasi ikipatika sio mbaya lakini kwa mimi sikuwahi kufikiria kwa hapa Tanzania au kwa Africa kwa kweli.

Hata hivyo yeye binafsi hana shida yoyote ya kujiunga na label hiyo iwapo watazingatia mkataba wake kwa sababu hafanyi muziki peke yake.

Iwe ni kampuni au sehemu ambayo itanichukua mimi kama kunimeneji pale nilipokuwa wafanye vitu extra zaidi. Sawa wanaweza ikawa wanaweza kwa mkataba kama watakuja na mkataba ambao nitautaka na vitu vyangu ambavyo navihitaji naweza nikasaini kwa sababu mimi ni mfanyabiashara lakini kwa sasa hivi hatukuwahi kuongea au kufikiria.

Diamond Platnumz amekuwa mada ya wiki huu baada ya Hamisa Mobetto kufunua jina la mtoto wake, Abdul Naseeb.

Kwa kufanya hivi, Diamond Platnumz alimbumburushia Mobetto matusi huku akimuita ‘bitch’ na kuwafanya mashabiki wake kumponda kwa kitendo hiki.

Hata hivyo, Diamond Platnumz ameonekana kuendelea kumponda Hamisa kwa kumuwekea picha za kuudhi mitandaoni. Akimsheherekea Rayvanny Leo, Mkali huyo wa Wasafi aliweka picha huku akionekana akimbusu Zari na Vanny akioneka kwenye background.

Rayvanny akamilisha kazi yake mpya na Jason Derulo

Mkali wa Wasafi Records Rayvanny hatimaye aliweza kukutana na Jason Derulo marekani ambapo wawili hao waliweza kukamilisha kazi yao mpya itakoyoachiliwa hivi karibuni.

Rayvanny alijumuika na Jason Derulo siku kadhaa baada ya kushinda Tuzo lake la kwanza la BET. Kupitia mtandao wake wa Instagram Rayvanny aliweka picha yake na Jason Derulo huku wakionekana wakiwa kwenye studio session.

Aliandika kusema,

“God bless you my brother @jasonderulo its amaizing opportunity,am so grateful for that……… Toka Saa 8 Usiku amekaa na mimi hadi Asubui… Studio kulikua na Watoto wakaaaaaliiiii lakini kawacha waondoke sababu walichoka kukaa studio yeye kabaki na sisi tu. Lava Lava ambaye ni msanii mpya wa Wasafi records kwa hivi sasa anatamba kwa wimbo wake mpya ‘bora tuachane’ ambao umempa mashabiki wengi kwa muda wa wiki moja.

Baada ya kuingia Wasafi msanii huyu amepata interview kadhaa kwa redio na hivi karibuni tunatarajia kumuona kwenye televisheni.

Hata hivyo kama wasanii wenzake, msanii huyu ameweza kupata changamoto ambazo zinaweza kuiletea career yake shida. Hivi karibuni akizungumza kwenye interview na Bongo 5 msanii huyu alikana kuwa hakuna msanii yoyote kutoka Wasafi Records anayemuiga Diamond Platnumz. Kulingana na yeye kila mtu ananjia tofauti ya kuimba na iwapo saa zingine wengi wanaona kuwa wanaimba kama mkubwa wao…hii sio ukweli.

Alisema,

“Naona watu wanazungumza lakini watu wawe na masikio ya kusikiliza kitu. Sio watu wote wanaweza kufanana ya Diamond japokuwa kuna vitu tunaweza kufanana kwa sababu ni watu ambao tunakaa pamoja kwa muda mrefu. Lizer amtaja msanii ambaye anafurahia kufanya kazi naye Wasafi

Muziki wowote wa Wasafi ukianza mara mingi utamsikia mwanadada akisema ‘ayo Lizer’ lakini wengine hawafahamu kuwa yeye ndiye mtayarishaji wa muziki kutoka studio ya Wasafi Records.

Hivi karibuni Lizer alimtaja msanii wa WCB ambaye yeye hufurai kufanya kazi naye. Akizungumza kwenye interview Lizer alisema kuwa Rayvanny ni msanii ambaye ameweza kufanya kazi naye bila matatizo yoyote.

Aliendelea kwa kusema,
“Msanii yoyote anayejua mimi nina enjoy sana kufanya naye kazi, ukimuelekeza fuata hiki anafuata. Lakini naweza kusema kwa kuwa Raymond ndiye msanii aliyegundua kitu kilichopo ndani ya Lizer huwa nina enjoy naye zaidi kwasababu ndiye msanii ambaye nilitoka naye.”

Ni wengi ambao wanatamani kujiunga na label ya Wasafi Records. Hata hivyo kulingana na sheria ambazo Diamond Platnumz ameziweka wasanii wachache ndio tu wamehitimu

Akizungumza kwenye kipindi cha XXL cha Clouds Fm Diamond Platnumz alisema kuwa yeye hutaka wasanii ambao wanaubunifu wa kujiandikia nyimbo kwa sababu hii inasaidia kuangalia maudhui na uzuri wa wimbo.

“Kwanza Rich Mavoko ndiye mgumu kwenye kupitisha nyimbo, ikitoka hapo Ravvanny aipitishe, Queen Darleen aipitishe, ikitoka hapo niipitishe mimi, iende kwa Mkubwa Fella na Babu Tale waipitishe na Sallam aipitishe, ukitoka hapo wewe ni mwanaume haswa.”

Diamond aliendelea kwa kusema,

“Kwa hiyo wengi wanakuwa na uwezo mkubwa. Labda unaweza ukaja ukasikia kitu kidogo, ukasema ukiweka hapa kitu flani itakuwa poa zaidi, yaani ukiandika unaandika haswa.”

Lakini kwa sasa Diamond Platnumz amemsign Lava Lava ambaye amenonekana kuwa mkali baada ya kuachia wimbo wake mpya.

Rich Mavoko ambaye anafanya muziki chini ya Wasafi records hivi sasa anajipanga kuachia album mpya hivi karibuni baada ya collabo yake ya Show me na Harmonize.

Ingawa umaarufu wake sio kama wa Rayvanny na Harmonize muimbaji huyu anajikaza kufikia kiwango ambacho wasanii wote wa Wasafi records wako.

Akizungumza kupitia kipindi cha Top 20 cha Clouds FM kuwa, Rich Mavoko alisema kuwa yeye mwenyewe hufika saa 12 jioni studio ilikufanya kazi hadi saa 12 asubuhi kwa sababu hivi sasa anamipango ya kuachia album ambayo itakuwa yake ya kwanza. Alisema,

“Hii itakuwa albam yangu ya kwanza kubwa kufanya, nilishawahi kutengeneza na watu wangu wa mwanzo ila haikufanikiwa kutoka.”

Hata hivyo kuna matumaini kwamba Rich Mavoko ataendelea kuwavutia mashabiki kwa wingi baada ya project hii yake mpya.

Moses Iyobo ambaye ni dancer maarufu wa Diamond Platnumz amefunguka kwa nini hawezi kuwa muimbaji ataiwapo angepewa fursa hiyo.

Akiongea na gazeti maarufu la Dimba, Mose alisema kuwa hana mipango ya kuingia katika muziki na kuwa kwa hivi sasa lengo lake ni kuwa dancer ambayo ni kazi anayoifanya kwa hivi sasa.

Kiluingana na yeye, kuwa muimbaji inatakiwa mtu kuwa na kipaji ambacho yeye mwenyewe hana kwa hivyo si kitu ambacho anaweza kufanya na kufanikiwa. Alisema,

“Unajua kuimba kunahitaji akili nyingi ili ufanikiwe, sasa kwa upande wangu sitaweza ni bora nibaki huku huku ndio pananifaa zaidi,”

Ata hivyo Mose Iyobo alisema kuwa angependa kuwa mwalimu wa kuwafindisha vijana kuwa dancer kama yeye. Kuna watoto ambao wangependa kuwa dancers wakiwa wakubwa kwa hivyo ni heri yeye kuanzisha shule ambayo atawafundisha ili hapo mbeleni waweze kutambulika kama yeye.
