What started as a romantic evening at the coast quickly turned tense for Bahati and his wife Diana Marua after a discussion about body enhancements sparked disagreement between the two.
The couple had been enjoying a sundowner at Bamburi Beach when the conversation shifted to cosmetic changes, leaving Bahati describing the moment as uncomfortable.
Concerns over cosmetic changes
The discussion was triggered by Diana’s recent decision to get dental braces. Bahati admitted he is struggling to embrace the change, saying he preferred her natural smile.
He went further to express concern that small adjustments could lead to more extensive body modifications over time. According to him, once someone begins altering their appearance, it can become difficult to stop.
“When you start this journey of doing things to your body, you cannot recreate yourself. You are not God,” he said.
Bahati also voiced fears that such changes could escalate into procedures like nose reshaping, breast enhancement, or other cosmetic surgeries.
Family weighs in
The issue has previously drawn attention from within their family. Their eldest son, Morgan, had earlier expressed disapproval of Diana’s reported plans for additional procedures, including a breast lift and liposuction.
He warned that such changes could alter her appearance significantly, stating that she risks looking “plastic” despite already having the support and admiration of her family.
Morgan also suggested that Bahati shares similar concerns, particularly regarding the idea of more extensive body enhancements.
A difference in perspective
During the coastal trip, Bahati reiterated his stance, questioning why Diana felt the need to change aspects of her body. He maintained that he was content with her natural look when they first met.
“I liked your teeth the way they were,” he said, adding that the changes might shift away from what initially attracted him.
Diana, however, defended her choices, emphasising that her decisions are personal and rooted in self-care. She argued that men may not fully understand the motivations behind such choices.
“You are a guy. You’d never understand what happens in women’s minds. I’m just trying to take care of myself. If I can make anything look better, I will,” she responded.
Personal choice vs shared views
The exchange highlights a broader conversation around personal autonomy and relationships, with Diana asserting her right to make decisions about her body, while Bahati and other family members express concern about the direction those changes may take.
Despite the disagreement, the couple continues to navigate the balance between individual choice and shared expectations within their relationship.
