Janet Mbugua & Eddie Ndichu Celebrate Son Huru’s 10th Birthday Together

Media personality Janet Mbugua and her ex-husband, Eddie Ndichu, recently came together to celebrate their son Huru’s 10th birthday, showcasing their successful co-parenting relationship since their divorce in 2021.

The separated couple, who share two sons—Huru, 10, and Mali, 7—spent the special day with their children, attending a church service before enjoying a celebratory lunch date.

The Parents’ Loving Tributes

Eddie Ndichu shared his pride as his son reached a double-digit milestone, posting a family photo with a heartfelt caption:

“My not-so-little boy turns double digits. Happy 10th birthday. 10 going on 18. Happy birthday #Huru.”

The proud father also shared a video from a posh city restaurant where hotel staff surprised the 10-year-old with a cake and a birthday song.

Janet Mbugua, the mother of two, shared a photo posing with her sons and their father after the church service, accompanied by a lengthy and sweet message:

“Happy birthday, Huru! A whole decade since that labour prank I pulled on national television! From not knowing what motherhood would be, to now, you are almost my height, teaching us more about love, patience and grace than we ever imagined. You’ve shown us that freedom isn’t just your name, it’s your spirit. Here’s to knowing we’ll keep walking beside you. God speed, my boy.”

The combined celebration underscores the former couple’s dedication to jointly raising their children, prioritizing their sons’ happiness and stability.

It definitely hasn’t been easy for Eddie and Paul Ndichu, to have their names circulating on all media tabloids after their fight at the Ole Sereni hotel.

The video from that fateful night shows a drunk Paul Ndichu breaking someone’s side mirror; while his brother Eddie Ndichu is seen caught up between two ladies who he claims were fighting. And, being a gentle man he saw it right to separate them – only for the story to backfire on him.

Well, as seen on a new statement released by Wapi Pay; the brothers have distanced themselves from any from of abusive against women saying;

We found the story distasteful and troubling and want to firmly state that any type of behavior involving violence against women does not reflect our values nor does it reflect those of Eddie and Paul.

Wrong place, wrong time?

As seen on the same statement, the brothers also distanced themselves from any form of racial discrimination; adding that they would never encourage any form of gender based violence.

However Eddie and Paul did offer their deepest regrets; and as of now, the matter is already being investigated by the police and DCI.

Janet Mbugua has come out to speak up about gender based violence hours after her ex husband, Eddie Ndichu; and twin brother, Paul Ndichu were caught on camera fighting some unknown ladies.

The story shared widely by Edgar Obare left many Kenyans shocked at the fact that a man like Eddie Ndichu; would stoop so low to a point of putting his hand on a woman.

His brother’s actions on the other hand were ~~not so surprising;~~ as the public already knew the kind of life he put Grace Msalame through about a decade ago. But Eddie Ndichu? Who would have ever thought??

Anyway with the stories everywhere, former media personality Janet Mbugua; the lady that married and started a family with Eddie Ndichu has issues a statement addressing the viral videos; and incident that surrounding her sons dad and their uncle.

In a detailed post, Ms Janet Mbugua wrote;

I am sadden by increasing incidents of Gender-Based Violence. Over the last decade, I have joined my voice to efforts to #EndGBV.

Adding;

I condemn all forms of GBV irrespective of who is involved and will continue to speak out against it. We have laws in Kenya and justice must prevail.”

Although the mother of 2 did not name any names or directly refer to what happened at Ole Sereni; the fact that she opened her statement with ‘I am saddened by increasing incidents of based gender violence’ makes it obvious to know what she was talking about.

Janet Mbugua’s husband Eddie Ndichu used to be a TV presenter before he joined the corporate world. For the unacquainted, Eddie is the managing director of internet firm Opera.

On Thursday October 11th, Eddie took a trip down memory lane and opened up about his days as a TV presenter. Janet’s husband reveals that he settled for the TV job while he was looking for his way into the corporate world.

The Ndichu family is quickly getting bigger, currently there are only four members but if Eddie Ndichu’s words are anything to go by then it’s only a matter of time before a new member arrives.

Janet Mbugua and her husband were blessed with a bouncing baby boy Mali Mwaura Ndichu on 17th September 2018. The couple already has a grown boy Ethan Huru Ndichu who will be turning 3 on October 27th.

Eddie hinted that they might be having more children on his post on social media. He took to Instagram to announce that his wife will document her motherhood journey on her Vlog.

The twins have announced that they’re launching a new technlogy show which will premier on August 1.

Janet Mbugua is already talking about having a second and a third child. The former Citizen TV anchor is a proud mother of a two year old baby boy Ethan Huru Ndichu.

Many people anticipated Janet Mbugua to give birth to twins back in 2015 when she was expectant. I mean the twin genes are deeply embedded in their family.

Janet Mbugua has a twin brother called Timothy Mbugua. Her husband Eddie Ndichu also has a twin brother Paul Ndichu who is the father of Grace Msalame’s twin daughters.

How come Eddie missed?

Eddie’s twin brother Paul got twins the first time he became a father. Janet Mbugua’s husband however could only manage one on his first trial.

Janet and Eddie are now keen to get twin babies the next time they get pregnant. Janet opened up about their desire to have twin babies while responding to a question from one of her followers on her Q&A video on YouTube.

“We love being twins. We want twins, by the way, if it is in God’s plan,” Janet Mbugua said.

Eddie Ndichu has started a new year with blessings galore. The father of one has secured a top managerial job with a leading multinational corporation.

Janet Mbugua’s husband used to work for Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB). He served as the head of digital finance service and mobile payments at KCB.

Eddie quit KCB to join global mobile browser – Opera. The multinational corporation announced Eddie’s appointment on January 2nd 2017.

Opera has appointed Eddie Ndichu as its managing director and vice president for Africa. Eddie’s appointment is the first step in Opera’s plans to have a Kenyan office which will become the East African hub.

Janet Mbugua’s efforts have finally yielded fruits after three years, President Uhuru Kenyatta has given his assent to the Bill she was dying to see become law.

Janet Mbugua through his initiative Inua Dada has traversed the country distributing free sanitary pads to girls so that they could not miss school when they are in that time of the month. Janet’s vision was to see all girls in Kenya attend school without any disruption brought about by their menses.

The former Citizen TV anchor advocated for the government to provide free sanitary pads to girls who couldn’t access them.

And on Wednesday President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the Basic Education Amendment Act into law, meaning all school-going girls will receive free sanitary pads from the government.

The Act was earlier amended by parliament to make it mandatory for the government to supply schoolgirls with the towels.

The law places the responsibility of providing free, sufficient and quality sanitary towels on the government in order to reduce the number of girls missing school during their menstrual cycle.

Janet Mbugua’s husband Eddie Ndichu was quick to pat his wife on the back after the president gave his assent to the Bill.

Paul is the twin brother of Janet Mbugua’s husband Eddie Ndichu. Paul was previous married to Kiss TV’s Grace Msalame before they divorced.

He hooked up with Evaline Momanyi years after his marriage hit rock bottom. The two lovebirds first got married in a tradition Gikuyu ceremony a month ago.

Eddie Ndichu is among those folks who believe that old is gold… Janet Mbugua’s husband is working on restoring a 1975 vintage Audi.

For those that didn’t know, some classic cars are worth more than most modern vehicles on the roads. While most Japanese vehicles lose value over time, the value of their counterparts from Europe and America appreciate as years go by.

Janet’s husband is restoring an old German machine, a car that was the paragon on the road some four decades ago when most us were not even born.

Eddie Ndichu bought a 1975 Audi 100 LS, he’s currently working on restoring it. While the car looks like a discarded scrap metal, its price is staggering.

“She’s the one. #Audi100 1975 #lifeprojects restoration begins,” Eddie Ndichu captioned a photo of his vintage Audi.

A search on eBay shows that a 1972 Audi 100LS fetches as much as 11,000 US Dollars or 1.1 million Kenyan shillings.

Just in case you missed it, Janet Mbugua and hubby Eddie Ndichu held a traditional wedding for their son Huru over the weekend.

Having made major strides in his growth, it was time to make yet another one; it was now time he was officially introduced to his mothers and grandmothers age mates.

This ceremony in the Kikuyu community is called Itega and its primary purpose is to celebrate the birth of a child. It is an opportunity for the new mother and grandmother to introduce the baby to the community. The community in this case refers to the new mother’s age mates (rika), and more importantly the grand parent’s age mates and close friends.

The Itega allows the community to meet the baby and celebrate her. This occasion is marked by plenty of food, a slaughtered goat or sheep that is then barbecued, singing and dancing galore and plenty of ululating.

Itega is held when the baby is old enough to deal with new people holding him/her. This is usually from 6 months+ depending upon the preferences of the parents. Having this ceremony too early is not advisable because the baby is passed and bounced around in all the excitement of welcoming her into the family.

Janet Mbugua is actually late as Huru is now 16 months old.

Traditionally, an Itega was held by the womenfolk only, but currently men are encouraged to participate so that they can also be celebrated and congratulated for the accomplishment of adding to the community and that’s why Eddie was also present at the event.

An independent woman with the looks of a nubile Nubian queen, who can cook, be a mother to your kids and well, be supportive and clearly that’s what Eddie Ndichu got in Janet Mbugua.

Today he was hanging out with the president to talk matters employment and mobile penetration and we can’t seem to hear the end of it from his lovely wife.

Eddie Ndichu reveals how helpless he felt seeing Janet Mbugua in Labour

Janet Mbugua welcomed her son in 2015, October 26th and this was the most emotional day for her husband who had been standing with her throughout the pregnancy journey.

In a post shared by Eddie Ndichu on his wife’s blog we have every reason to believe that Janet Mbugua had a caesarean section and not vaginal birth. Not surprising at all as there is an increasing numbers of women today who appear to prefer delivering by caesarean section as it is quick in comparison to most labours.

Anyway, Eddie Ndichu opened up about how scared he was to watch his small wife in labour as she lay on a theatre bed waiting to deliver their baby.

I MAKE IT INTO THE THEATRE AND FIND HER SMALL BODY LAY ON THE TABLE ALL COVERED IN SURGICAL CLOTH. SHE SMILES AND I SEE SHE IS AWAKE AND NERVOUS. SHE SAYS, “I CAN’T FEEL ANYTHING”. SO I HOLD HER HAND AND KISS HER FOREHEAD GENTLY. I SAID TO HER, “THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING”. OUR CHARMING DOCTOR NARRATES, “NOT FAR TO GO… ANY MINUTE NOW”, AS HIS TEAM OPERATES ON MY WIFE. BY THIS TIME I AM SWEATING.

Eddie Ndichu went further to how worried he was about their unborn son. He kept questioning whether his son was healthy despite all the prenatal visits to their doctor.

ALL I COULD HOPE IS THAT HE IS GOING TO BE IN ONE PIECE. TWO EYES, TWO EARS, TEN FINGERS AND TOES. IS HE GOING TO BE OF SOUND MIND? HAVE ALL HIS BODY PARTS DEVELOPED COMPLETELY? WILL HE BREATHE, WILL HE CRY? THEN IN A MATTER OF SECONDS THE DOCTOR LITERALLY FLINGS HIM IN THE AIR AND SAYS ‘HERE HE IS’! THIS TINY LITTLE BODY HANGING IN THE AIR COVERED IN MUCUS. I BARELY GOT A GLIMPSE OF HIS FACE BEFORE THEY SENT HIM TO HAVE HIS CORD CUT.
I SEE TEARS ON MY WIFE’S FACE AS SHE LAYS HELPLESSLY. I COULD SEE HOW BADLY SHE WANTED TO HOLD HIM. I CLENCH HER HAND EVEN TIGHTER AND CONSOLE HER. HE WAS WHISKED AWAY FOR NORMAL CHECKS AND A WIPE DOWN. THE DOCTOR ALLOWS ME TO GO AROUND AND WATCH THE NURSE AND HIM. IN MY EXCITEMENT I GO AROUND THE FROM WHERE MY DEAR WIFE IS CUT OPEN…. THAT’S FOR ANOTHER BLOG!!!,”

He continued.

Since this was their first child, the couple now understands the journey better and will hopefully apply the knowledge they have when planning for their second child.

Ethan Huru Ndichu was born on October 26^th 2015. Janet Mbugua’s husband, Eddie Ndichu, has decided to talk about the fear that engulfed him that day his son was born.

Mr. Nidichu revealed that he was shaking with fear when doctors escorted him to the operating theater where his wife was to deliver.

“It has been over 14 months but I remember the day vividly. I was escorted to the doctors changing rooms to wear pair of scrubs. I was shaking with nerves. I couldn’t feel my entire body as I changed. The thoughts going through my head were that this is really happening and that my wife is on a table all by herself,” Eddie Ndichu wrote in part.

Baba Ethan says that several things crossed his mind as he was waiting to see his son; top being physical development of the baby.

“All I could hope is that he is going to be in one piece. Two eyes, two ears, ten fingers and toes. Is he going to be of sound mind? Have all his body parts developed completely? Will he breathe, will he cry? Then in a matter of seconds the doctor literally flings him in the air and says ‘Here he is’! This tiny little body hanging in the air covered in mucus. I barely got a glimpse of his face before they sent him have his cord cut. I see tears on my wife’s face as she lays helplessly. I could see how badly she wanted to hold him. I clench her hand even tighter and console her. He was whisked away for normal checks and a wipe down. The doctor allows me to go around and watch the nurse and him. In my excitement I go around the from where my dear wife is cut open….”

Eddie’s fears evaporated when he finally got time to examine Baby Ethan, he didn’t have any deformities.

“I get there and now fully see his features. His little limbs, toes fingers ears and eyes, all there! His hair, oh my so much hair, thats definitely not from me! He is so pale and light and can’t quite make out who he looks like. Then a sound comes out. I am excited. I am now a father, I could even explain the feeling. It was an overwhelming sense of responsibility mixed with a strong sense of accomplishment and joy. The nurse quickly wraps him and hands him over to me to take to my wife. I couldn’t help feel like I was going to drop him. I finally make it to her. She could barely hold him so I move him close to her face. She touches him and rubs him on her face. Her eyes filled with tears.”
