Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has offered a raw and heartbreaking glimpse into her grief following the loss of her father.
Days after laying him to rest, the media personality took to Instagram Stories to share emotional reflections that revealed just how heavy the pain has become. Posting alongside images from the funeral, Maribe admitted that although she had hoped to mourn quietly and on her own terms, the reality of the loss has come crashing down all at once.
“I’ve been meaning to grieve in my own way and time and pace, but it’s suddenly hitting me like a rocket ball, and every inch of my being hurts,” she wrote.
When Grief Finally Hits
In a series of deeply personal posts, Maribe confessed that she is struggling to hold herself together. She said she isn’t even sure which stage of grief she’s in, only that the pain feels both emotional and physical.
Set to Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again,” her messages captured the moment the weight of bereavement fully settled in.
“I don’t know what stage of grief this is, but I can’t stop the tears from flowing.”
A Brave Fight and Final Goodbye
Maribe’s father, Mr. Maribe Mwangi, passed away peacefully on 22 December 2025 after a long illness, which the family said he endured with courage. He was remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, 28 December 2025, at Worldwide Gospel Church in Buruburu, before he was laid to rest on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, at his home in Gathaithi Village.
‘My Friend’ in Heaven
The bond between father and daughter was evident in Maribe’s words. She affectionately referred to her late dad as her “friend” and shared a touching message that she hopes he is celebrating in the afterlife.
“I hope you are having one blast of a party in heaven, Dad, so that these tears make sense, my friend!”
Photos shared from the burial showed family members gathered at the graveside in Gathaithi, marking a painful yet heartfelt farewell.
