Kenyan actress and digital content creator Celestine Ndinda, popularly known as Wakavinye, has entertained fans online after enthusiastically celebrating Arsenal F.C.’s latest Premier League victory while her husband, comedian Timothy Kimani, reacted with humorous frustration.
The couple’s well-known football rivalry once again became a trending topic after Arsenal secured a narrow win over West Ham United F.C. in a tightly contested league fixture.
Wakavinye celebrates Arsenal victory
Wakavinye took to Instagram Stories to share videos of herself celebrating Arsenal’s late winning goal against West Ham.
Belgian forward Leandro Trossard netted in the 82nd minute to hand the North London side a crucial victory.
The mother of two watched the match alongside her sons, who support rival Premier League clubs. Their eldest son, Tugi, supports Manchester United F.C. like his father, while the younger son, Toria, was seen wearing a Manchester City F.C. jersey.
After the match, Wakavinye joked that the atmosphere at home became chaotic because of the football rivalry.
“The conversation after this photo session was crazy,” she wrote.
In another clip, she confidently backed Arsenal’s chances of lifting the league title despite playful resistance from her sons.
“Arsenal, we will hold the cup,” she declared.
Njugush reacts with humour
Njugush, a longtime Manchester United supporter, appeared less thrilled by Arsenal’s victory.
The comedian posted a sarcastic video congratulating Arsenal while joking that the result had ruined his plans to enjoy watching the club struggle.
“We wish Arsenal all the best this season, yea the league is theirs. They have really fought and they deserve it after that long. What an unsuccessful hate watch also wamebebwa,” he joked.
Fans join the banter
The exchange quickly drew reactions online, with many Kenyans joining the ongoing football banter surrounding Arsenal’s recent performances.
Some supporters described Arsenal’s matches as stressful yet entertaining, while others claimed the club had been relying heavily on luck.
One fan humorously commented:
“Hii Arsenali itanipeleka sayuni jameni.”
Another follower, identified as talliem3, teased Njugush directly:
“Sema tena bila kulia. Najua ulikuwa ushamake video ile ya gishuthe ukiwa England. Kimani muhotwo.”
A user named blueck_nickish questioned Arsenal’s playing style, writing:
“Team inabebwa… Hizo ni goals gani wanafunga hawa… goal moja alafu wanakaza.”
Others simply enjoyed the rivalry between football fans online, with comments such as:
“Nlijua Arsenal wanatumia dark energies.”
“Manze guys, this might be our season, cha ukweli.”
