Janet Mbugua reveals that her son Ethan Huru Ndichu is fully aware that he will have a brother or sister soon. Speaking to her fans on her vlog, Janet explains that her son constantly wanted to be with her ever since she explained to him that he will have a sibling.

“Huru has totally changed, especially after we explained to him about it. I noticed that there is a difference and he constantly wanted to be with me. I tried and explained to him so that he does not get too shocked. But I was told that the transition would be a bit tricky, and that in the first few months there may be a little bit of jealousy. So what I should do is include him in washing the baby and even changing diapers,” said Janet Mbugua.

Boy or a girl?

Janet Mbugua refused to disclose the gender of her unborn baby when asked by her fans. He neither confirmed or denied if she is pregnant with twins.

“I can’t reveal that now guys, maybe at some points,” said Janet Mbugua.

 

 

Janet Mbugua has shared a secret to keeping a healthy friendship. Her advice comes a few days after Betty Kyallo broke up with her BFF Susan Kaittany.

Betty and Susan’s split took many by surprise considering how tight they were. The breakup was ugly as the KTN anchor even got Susan arrested by the police.

Janet Mbugua has since shared her thought about friendship. The former Citizen TV anchor states that most people don’t have one’s interest at heart.

Keep your circle small

Janet says the secret to a healthy friendship is keeping a small circle of friends. She further states that one shouldn’t put their faith in other people.

Janet’s sentiments echoes what Betty Kyallo said about the lesson she learnt after the nasty breakup with her former BFF Susan Kaittany.

“Over time I’ve learnt that a lot of people, for their own reasons, don’t have your best interests at heart. Be on good terms with people as far as possible but keep your circle small, share your deepest truths with a very select few and in as much as it may hurt when people do you wrong, don’t put your faith in man. #WednesdayWisdom ✨ #ItShallBeWell!” Wrote Betty Kyallo.

 

Janet Mbugua used to be a smoker but she stopped it anyway. The former Citizen TV anchor recently explained to her fans why she quit her smoking habit.

Scientists say a habitual shisha smoker might breathe in much more poisonous fumes during an hour-long session than a typical cigarette smoker inhales in a few days.

Apparently shisha smoking can be as damaging, addictive, and dangerous as cigarettes, because the tobacco is no less toxic in a water-pipe.

But the dangers associated with smoking shisha is not what prompted Janet Mbugua to stop smoking the fruit-scented tobacco that is burnt using charcoal.

Speaking to her fans on Instagram Live, Janet Mbugua explained that she quit smoking shisha after she got her son Ethan Huru Ndichu.

Janet confessed she used to smoke shisha when a curious fans asked her about some bowls in her house which looked shisha bowls.

“Those are not shisha things, they look like it right? No… Let me show you what they are because right now you guys are being haters. This is not a shisha bowl guys, i don’t do that no more. Once in a while i used to do shisha but ever since having my son…” said Janet.

 

Janet Mbugua experienced firsthand the horror of living in a foreign country when she relocated to South Africa after securing a job with eNews Africa in 2009.

Janet quit her job at KTN to join eTV in Johannesburg as a news anchor. The process of applying for work permit in South Africa made her to be frustrated and disappointed.

The process dragged and even the input of her employer to try assist her get the permit turned futile. She almost gave up but eventually she was given one year work permit.

“Some insight into how the process of acquiring my work permit was supposed to go: The company that was hiring me in South Africa, eNews Africa under eTV, was to send me an offer letter to sign. They did. It’s the document before the contract, which I could only be given once I had the work permit in my hand. The company was also supposed to send the High Commission a letter of motivation to ascertain that they indeed wanted to hire me. They did. The High Commission officials in Nairobi were then supposed to process my papers, send them to Home Affairs in Johannesburg and I was meant to receive my permit shortly after. Two weeks tops, I was told. Easy enough, yes? Er, no. eTV tried everything, they couldn’t understand why nothing was moving and they needed me on that end asap! I was beginning to think I wouldn’t see an end in sight to this issue,” Janet Mbugua wrote in part.

Janet’s life as an alien in South Africa was full of frustrations – especially when her one year permit expired. She was forced to live like a kangaroo hopping from one office to another in a bid to renew the permit.

The situation was so bad that Janet withdrew from people and even avoided conducting banking transactions or anything that required her passport so that South African immigration couldn’t detect the discrepancy with her permit.

“It was during those dark moments that I began to second guess my decision to move countries. The job was great though; I got on really well with my bosses and colleagues, plus I’d found a haven in my one bedroom apartment which was in a great neighborhood not too far from work. Everything else was great except the status of my permit. I would withdraw from people and couldn’t do much because if I attempted to make any banking transactions or anything that required my passport, the system would pick that there was a discrepancy with my permit. I wallowed, I was upset, I was homesick,”

Even after she managed to secure a five year work permit, Janet still didn’t have peace. She eventually decided to quit her job and return to Kenya.

Janet reached out to Royal Media’s Chief Operating Officer Farida Karoney who gave her a job on Citizen TV in 2011.

“Something inside me had shifted; I was tired, disappointed, embarrassed, frustrated…I was jaded. It all just seemed too little too late. Shortly after, I handed in my resignation. I was longing to return home, where I would never need to chase permits. Where I would belong and build myself. My bosses were understanding about it all.

“While I knew I would miss some of the amazing people I’d met while at work in SA, I needed to do this for me. The 2013 Kenya elections were on my mind and I figured it was best to make a move early, and it was a smart move because shortly after returning home in July of 2011, I would seek out Farida again and ask to join Royal Media Services. In hindsight, I had learned myself more, become a more resilient individual and made a mark as the first Kenyan Anchor on e News Africa. I was beginning to appreciate the dark moments, albeit over time.

“In November that year, I debuted on the Citizen Live at 9 alongside Hussein Mohammed, and there began another chapter in my life…”

 

Janet Mbugua finally quit her job at Royal Media Services (RMS) after five years of service on Citizen TV. The mother of one bid goodbye to her fans when she made her last appearance on Citizen TV on Monday night April 10^th.

Janet took to her blog to talk about her departure from Citizen TV, she says the right moment had come for her to finally leave Royal Media Services.

“I happen to be a believer in doing what feels right when the moment feels right, as long as I’ve thoroughly thought it through, prayed, meditated and know that I can sleep with a sense of conviction in my soul. I’m also deeply aware of how blessed and lucky I’ve been. The opportunity to have been a Broadcast Journalist for 10 years has been humbling and rewarding, with 5 of those years spent at Citizen TV. For that I’d like to thank Farida Karoney and Wachira Waruru, who have believed in me through and through. I know the moment is right for me to take a sabbatical; breathe, reflect, pursue my passion projects in earnest and spend time with my young family. It’s more ‘see you soon’ than ‘goodbye’,” Janet wrote in part.

Janet didn’t reveal what exactly made her quit the lucrative job – she however admitted that she was scared stepping out of the ‘comfort zone’ even though she doesn’t regret her move.

“I’m not going into specifics about what my next steps are, that’s not my style. What I can say for now is that I am in a space of renewal and rebirth, without wanting to sound too perceptible. It’s as metaphorical as it is literal.

“Sometimes life forces you to reboot, whether you want to or not. Am I scared? Sure. A little. Anxious? Yes. Excited? Very! Broadcast has not just been my bread and butter, but the Ying to my Yang as far as career goes. My go to. My comfort zone. Stepping out of all that familiarity, albeit momentarily, can shake ones equilibrium a little…but that’s not unusual. But, I’m a closet Life-ist who’s ready to own that. Life is too short. Better to live it absolutely!”

 

 

You will be mistaken to think Janet Mbugua would show support to Kilimani Mums since it’s women’s group; the Citizen TV anchor has zero tolerance to idle gossipers.

Kilimani Mums group on Facebook is a hotspot for all sort of shocking and sickening confessions and discussions centering on all topics.

The group which provides a platform for women to discuss their issues freely has of late become very controversial due to the kind of posts its members share.

Janet Mbugua is not pleased with what’s happening on Kilimani mums, she blasted idle mums for what she termed as lying to themselves.

The Citizen TV anchor warned idle gossipers to stop discussing other peoples’ marriages, failures etc saying that such behavior would only lead to self- destruction.

 

“You’ve buried your head in the sand too long. You’re looking for validation from someone, something, but you want to jump to that part without putting in the work to get validation from yourself first.”

“Stop lying to yourself.”

“You sit around gossiping about other people; their failures, their successes, who they married, what they wore, how they walk, what they say…but what does that have to do with how you’re living your purpose? Does it make you feel any better, any more authentic or superior? It does? Therein is where the problem may lie.You see, we’re all terribly flawed, some more than others but I’m beginning to realise that this has a lot to do with where one is in their journey. No excuses for those who refuse to learn! But again, they too are entitled to making and learning from their mistakes.”

“I see friends rally one of their own to walk down a path they know will eventually be self-destructive. Maybe she’s doing too well too soon and they don’t want her to magnify how little they’ve done with their own lives. Maybe he’s too progressive and they don’t want to be the ones playing catch up down the line.”

“Whatever the case, they somehow feel like it gives them the right to make sure this person doesn’t shine. How does this satisfy your ego? Wouldn’t it be better if you shine together? No? Too simplistic for you? I beg to differ.”

“You write out your disdain for someone you haven’t met, ranting, instead of looking inward and asking, ‘What am I doing to change what it is I don’t like about them? How is it helping me if I spend those 5 minutes online, trolling, when I could be building myself?’ You’re projecting and it’s not healthy. Or helpful.”

“Look inwards, if you want to start doing the things that make you truly happy.”

“Look inwards, when you find yourself talking cheap, gossiping for hours on end, shaming, defaming.”

“Look inwards, when you begin to find yourself constantly angry and upset with everything and everyone around you.”

There is no doubt Janet Mbugua has one of the sexiest legs of all female celebrities; no wonder she keeps showing them when rocking tiny shorts.

Janet Mbugua has mastered the trick of making mafisi drool like crazy, a few photos of her beautiful leg does the trick.

The Citizen TV anchor must be working really hard to keep her body in a tip-top shape; perhaps workout or strict diet are what has enabled her to look yummy each passing year.

Mama Ethan keeps slaying in tiny shorts; every time she is seen rocking shorts mouths can’t stop wagging.

The Citizen TV anchor tried her hands at various professions before she finally landed a job as a news anchor. Her first attempt to audition as a model was disastrous.

Janet Mbugua did a course in counseling psychology and also did a bit of modeling before she finally landed a job on TV.

“I tried out for many things before landing my current gig as News Anchor/Media Personality. I auditioned to be a Radio Presenter (that eventually worked out)! I took a course in counselling psychology because I’ve always been fascinated by human emotions,” Janet Mbuga wrote.

Mama Ethan revealed that her first attempt in auditioning as a runway model was disastrous as a mentor told her to her face that she would never make it to the runway.

“I auditioned to be a runway model! Now, I’m 5’5, but I didn’t let this bother me, even though the first casting call I was sent to was filled with long legged, amazonian structured gals and guys. I somehow made one of the cuts…it was over 15 years ago so that part remains blurry…”

“When my turn came I decided to be cliche, because I honestly wasn’t even sure what I was doing in that room! I said I wanted to be a runway model and before I could finish, Mentor X interrupted me, ‘How tall are you again?’ ‘5’5?’ I half asked and answered. ‘Stop right there; you’ll never make it to the runways, so you need to pick a different dream. Be realistic’. Her words verbatim. The room went silent with everyone trying not to look me in the eye. Of course it stung because it just felt unnecessary. Plus I was all of 17 years old…”

Janet says the mentor’s corrosive words only fired up her self esteem as years later she walked the runways of Malaysia against all odds.

“I’m not sure how I picked myself up from that but something in me clicked. I had to choose to believe in me if no one else did. I’m so glad I made that decision! I would later walk the runways of Malaysia”
