10 Kenyan online comedians who cracked our ribs in 2020

One of the things that kept Kenyans entertained during the self-isolation period were the skits that were made by online comedians.

As such, we decided to make a list of Kenyan online comedians who cracked our ribs this year and left us asking for more.

1. Crazy Kennar – If you’re an avid social media user I am sure you know Kennedy Odhiambo, alias Crazy Kennar. He is so funny. I spoke to him some time back and he told me that he is the content cartel and to be honest, he is.

2. Flaqo Raz – I recently discovered this guy’s real name is Erastus Ayieko Otieno because he looks like a Kevin or a Brian. Anyway, he also makes some dope skits that will definitely leave you on the floor.

3. Cartoon Comedian – Some of you might know this lass because she often appeared on Churchill Raw, some of you might have no clue who she is but you should definitely check out her content if you want to have a good laugh.

4. Mark Mwas – He does skits about high school or college experiences that I am sure many of you can relate with. You’ll even wonder if ever high school or college is exactly the same.

5. Seth Gor – This lad has been making comic skits for sometime alongside Sharon Mwangi and George Kimani and the truth is that they are absolutely hilarious.

6. Blessed Tugi – He is so funny. If you thought Njugush is bonkers then you should meet his son. You know that common saying that an apple does not fall far from the tree, I have never found a place to apply it better than here.

‘8 years and counting’ Emotional Njugush celebrates wife in moving message

Timothy Kimani popularly known as Njugush won our hearts through The Real Househelps of Kawangware; where he played the struggling hustler, lover and hilarious joker. Of course Njugush changed the game in terms of delivering new and fresh content the acting industry had been missing.

While others saw the show as childish, those who appreciate local actors and actresses however continued to show their support; not knowing that they were helping build Njugush. Indeed the funny man remains grateful to all his supporters and for this reason Njugush has several platforms where he connects with his day 1’s.

Talking of day 1… we understand that Njusgush and wife Celestine Ndinda (Wakavinye) have been together for 8 years. However what many don’t know is that they too have relationship issues just like any other couple out here.

With all the problems including financial struggling, the two still chose each other and never they gave up despite all the problems life threw their way.

Judging from their stories, Njugush says his wife would support him with the small small things he couldn’t afford; and just like that years late the two are counting millions together. Anyway just to prove how much he loves his wife, Njugush has shared a beautiful post to mark their anniversary where he wrote;

Despite the fame and extra responsibilities that come with being a celebrity, a number of male personalities have proven that spending quality time with their children can still be done.

Children here, I mean newborns or less than 3 year-old celebrity kids who are getting to spend some priceless moments with their daddies.

Some being first-time dads, others not new to the game but have gotten better at it with time. Be it single parenting, co-parenting or raising up children with their wives. Let’s start off.

1. Polycarp Otieno

The Sauti Sol guitarist is new to the game, welcoming a bouncing baby boy with wife, Lady Mandy in August and ever since, the new dad has been spotted be it feeding, sun-basking with or even dancing with the newborn in his arms. He describes his fatherhood journey as “absolutely heavenly”.

2. Khaligraph Jones

It would be easy to crown the Kenyan rapper as one who embraced fatherhood to the full. Previously spotted spending some quality time with his daughter, before baby number two, a baby boy came on board on October 11 and seemingly robbed his sister of her daddy.

3. Diamond Platnumz

Diamond is trying to rekindle the good family vibes with his ex, Zari Hassan and their two children who recently landed in Tanzania and have since been keeping the music star busy with fatherhood duties.

4. DJ Mo

The gospel DJ has been spending time around his family more especially after COVID-19 struck, going out in vacations, having meals together and just being a present dad. However, the father of two’s vibe with his daughter seems stronger than with that of his roughly 1-year old son.

5. Tedd Josiah

A veteran Kenyan music producer who embraced the title ‘ManMom’ after the passing on of his wife just 3 months after delivering their baby girl and had to take up both mum and dad duties for the baby girl who is now 2 years of age.

6. Nick Mutuma

The Kenyan actor has sweetly bonded with his adorable baby girl Dua, now 2 years of age, who is undeniably a replica of her mom, Bridget Shighadi.

7. Njugush

This particular one stands out. The comedian’s genes seem to have trickled into their barely 2-year old son who is already a star in his own capacity. A baby boy whose level of maturity has lived to impress masses.

The film director and producer, married to Kate actress, is one very proud dad who got to hold his first child, a daughter, baby K in December 2019, who he clearly adores if their daddy-daughter moments are anything to go by.

Comedian Njugush went on a short vacation with his family just recently; and as usual together with Wakavinye, the couple made sure to flood our social media pages with nothing but stunning photos from their baecation.

Well apart from Wakavinye showing her curve in complete swimsuit; it appears that Njugush also had some heads turning on social media.

This is after he stepped out in what appears to be male swimming bikers that did not cover up so much. Not that we are complaining, but using this as another reason to give thanks for the gift of functional eyes.

What upcoming comedians can learn from Njugush

Timothy Kimani Ndegwa, better known as Njugush, is one of the most sought-after comedians not just in Kenya but the whole region.

Most people first came to know him after he featured on The Real Househelps of Kawangware (TRHK), however, he later exited the show to pursue personal interests.

In hindsight, that was a brave move because he has really grown online since he stopped appearing on our screen so much so that NTV had to look for him and ask him to create content for them.

Other than the fact that he is really funny, there’s something about how he carries himself that many are yet to understand. His peers wonder how he’s able to land many mega deals.

However, what they do not know is that he has a serious manager who helps him make serious business decisions and that is none other than Celestine Ndinda, his wife.

Other than than, Njugush has been very consistent over the years unlike many local comics who take a break when they get some little money in their pockets.

The truth is that not everyone will like your product and that is why Njugush has solidified his fan base over the years so much so that if you hate on his comedy one of his fans will attack you.

The other thing is that his approach to comedy has really evolved over the years. If he was making the same jokes that he used to make when we first knew him, he would have lost most of us along the way.

Comedian Njugush and his wife this past weekend shared quite a lot about their lives while on an interview with Dr King’ori.

The couple who have made a name for themselves in the entertainment industry not only talked about their struggles, life in collage; but also their exes.

Celestine Ndinda who is popularly known as Wakavinye revealed that she was just friends with Njugush back in collage unlike what many thought. After going through a bad break up, Njugush stood by her as a friend before they got involved with each other romantically.

Njugush on the other hand also went on to add that he was also going through a bad break up after his lady dumped him. According to him, the lady played him and even went on to tell him off since he had no money.

Comedian Njugush has always been open about his humble background. Back in the day before the money and fame; he was just an ordinary man facing the usual struggles faced by many!

He says that his wife was his only hope of surviving back in college as she helped him with money whenever he had nothing to use. Speaking to Dr Kingori on the Weekend edition; Njugush opened up revealing why he allows his wife to handle money matters unlike other men. He went on to say;

When it comes to money, I’m so lucky to have broken that ice, cz most of the time when you work together or differently mnaandikiananga nani anapaswa kununua kiti ama kuleta chakula ya kuku. The comedian went on to add that money has never been an issue in his home because he trusts his wife. He went on to add;

Comedian Njugush has left many admiring the kind of love he shares with his wife, Celestine Ndinda.

In his latest post the celebrated comedian and father of 1 opened up about his first time experience in Mombasa.

Apparently, Njugush only carried Ksh 500 which was meant to last the two for a whole week – but unfortunately he ended up spending it all at Mtito.

Being the only people with no money and shopping, Njugush says they had to pretend all through…. yet deep down they both knew they had run out of money.

Since a few of the people they had travelled with to Mombasa knew about their financial struggles, Njugush and Celestine at some point were accused of stealing a phone.

Baby Tugi has finally turned 1 year and his parents; Njugush and Celestine Ndinda could not help but mark this special occasion in the best possible way they know.

Judging from the photos shared by the two parents; we understand that a small lit birthday party was thrown for baby Tugi to help mark the new milestone in his life.

Celestine Ndinda went on to pour out her heart to baby Tugi through Instagram page where she dedicated a special message saying;

Njugush reveals why he did not propose to his wife

Njugush has never been shy about his life before the fame and money. He talks about the struggles he faced but grateful since all that time his girlfriend now wife Celestine aka Wakavinye was by his side.

The two had long been dating and partly living together since Celestine was still in colleague. Despite Njugush’s struggling lifestyle the lady chose to stick by him and she now reaps the fruits of success in the entertainment industry.

Anyway recently while speaking to Betty Kyallo, Celestine revealed that Njugush did not propose; he however went on to ask her,

“Aliniuliza Tunaweza kuwa na harusi December ama August? Hiyo ndo ilikuwa proposal.”

Njugush however went on to explain his side of the story saying;

“Unajua nilimuuliza between December na August wewe unaona tufanye Harusi lini, juu nilikuwa nataka kupunguze watu. You know why I was asking that, ni umekaa na huyu mtu mumeshaaongea hata viti mnataka kwa harusi, Gari, wedding gown, mpaka suti sasa kwani hajui anaolewa?. But obviously for me proposal ningeenda out of my way, sasa imanagine nimuwekee pete kwa cake akule alafu. So what I thought was, one she already know tunaowana, juu tulikaa tukasema penye imefika tuambia wazazi, tumeenda kwako, nini nini so hata ile time ningeprose ilinipita. So unajua ni when I was on TV , I was broke yes I’m famous but pesa hakuna, so nilikuwa naogopa kupropose juu hataki hizi pete za River road, juu anataka hizi za 40k, sasa 60K. so for me proposal ilipita ivo. The most impottant thing was my commitment to her, I told her nataka tukae mpaka mwisho. Enyewe hiyo time hatukuwa na pesa, coz nilikuwa nimequit job.”

It has been two years now –actually three– since comedian Njugush quit ‪The Real Househelps of Kawangware and decided to focus on sharing jokes on social media.

Njugush took to Facebook on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 to announce his departure from the popular program citing changes in scripting and directing as the main reasons for his decision.

Comeback

He recently opened up about his return to TV saying that he’s currently cooking something with Abel Mutua. He also revealed that he has started a company with his wife Celestine Ndinda and they’ll be producing content for different platforms.

“I’m the writer of the Hullaballoo Show on Maisha Magic. There’s a show that Abel and I are also working on. Celestine and I also started a company, Njugush Creatives, which deals with digital solutions and content creation. We also recently signed a deal with Fanaka TV to present their show Biashara Mtaani,” Njugush told Parents Magazine.

No matter how much in love you are, there are few things, little things, from your lover that piss you off. No one is perfect and no relationship is also perfect.

Comedian Njugush has come out to share some of the annoying things his wife does that piss him off.

The comedian works with his wife Celestine Ndinda a.k.a Wakavinye to shoot his comedy clips and usually travels with her around the country for gigs.

In a radio interview, the comedian opened up about how Ndinda can be annoying especially in the morning.

“Mimi kitu huwa inaniudhi ni akiamka asubuhi. Mimi nikiamka huwa naamka niki tip toe. Yeye akiamka hawezi amka polepole na saa hizo hana kitu ya maana anaenda kufanya,” narrated Njugush.

He added, “She then turns on all the lights including those of the balcony, which she doesn’t even need.”

Pressure

The comedian also went on to confess that the pressure to showcase his family on social media and travel with them has been weigh him down.

“I have has to travel with the family even where i’m not supposed to because of my son. I’m always not settled when I am not spending time with him. Fans kept asking to see my wife. I can now testify that as a public figure, you can’t entirely hide your family.” he said.

After quitting Real House Helps of Kawangware, many claimed comedian Njugush’s career was over. It’s now almost two years and Njugush is still thriving.

In an interview with Word Is, the comedian said that people should always follow their hearts instead of listening to other’s opinion.

“When I left TV, the same people said my career was done. After my comeback, the same people are now embracing what I am doing. That is why I say, if you listen to people you will always lose focus, because if I listened to them, probably I would not be this far. To everyone out there, do what you want so long as it is bringing food on your table.” he said in the interview.

Njugush also added that he plans to sing more after recently working with Fena Gitu for “Sijaskia Vibaya”.

“I have more things to do apart from comedy because it has been my own journey,” Njugush told Word Is, adding that he will be singing more. If I decide to do anything it is all about me. We have one life to live and it is us who limit ourselves. Comedian Njugush has narrated how he met one fan who was unlike any other. According to the comedian, the crazy fan  was too excited when she saw him and even jumped on him which made them fall because she too big.

“Alinihug tukaanguka tao. Mama alikuwa mkubwa. Nilifikiria tu alikuwa ananihug so alikuja kama anakimbia. Whooo! I thought it was just a hug akaruka! Hee! Tuligonja chini. Pale Reinsurance Plaza. Ilikuwa awkward, lakini tufanye nini na tumeanguka? Kuamka hapo it was the longest two minutes of my life,” the comedian said in an interview with Pulse Live.

The comedian went on to add that he feels always blessed when fans give him such reception and shows that he’s working really hard and doing a nice job.

“It’s a blessing having those people because there are people in the industry na hawasumbuliwi na wanataka kusumbuliwa. It’s a blessing siichukuliangi vibaya. All you need to know is that the moment you get in front of the camera you sign off your private life,” he said.

There was a time when Njugush and her wife could barely afford a meal. The two have come from being just collage lovers to top entertainers.

Njugush took to social media to thank God for the blessing after he managed to surprise his wife with a brand new Samsung S9 plus that’s valued at almost 85,000 bob.

On Instagram Njugush and the wife also posted a lovely message for each other after the gift.

“I was so broke that on her birthdays I used to kill my family members bana ‘babe nimepigiwa simu kuna uncle wa cousin ya aunt ya cucu wa beste ya mwalimu wangu wa nursery amepass…….. Exams’ lol nisiitishwe treat aki. But she understood, the heart really wanted to treat her lakini mfuko ilikua petition. She told me because we gonna be together for long hizo birthday nitalipia tu loool and she was categorical that she’d want one of those birthdays iwe Dubai.” he said.

His wife also loved the gift and said that as much as he has been patient with Njugush, he used to push him in the past to get more jobs and roles.

When you are at the top, expect envious competitors to drag you down. That’s the message comedian Njugush is driving home after an upcoming comedian recently attacked him for allegedly stealing his work.

The comedian, who goes by the name JB Mole, took to social media to attack Njugush claiming that he has been stealing his jokes and repacking them for his 500k plus fans.

‘I am an upcoming online comedian called JB Mole and I am very aggrieved because I am really trying to get into the industry but one very popular comedian has been stealing my works and redoing them as his through his social media platforms,” JB said in an interview. 

Looking at the clips the comedian is claiming Njugush copied will leave you with a clear idea that JB is just looking for attention. To make matters worse, he has only six videos so far, Njugush has over 1000.

Njugush took to Instagram to blast the comedian having noticed it just another wild goose chase.

Comedian Njugush is always out to make you laugh but it seems after Ksh 9 billions were lost in the recent NYS saga, the comedian has been forced to do more.

He recently released a clip telling Kenyans that they are now paying for the price after voting for corrupt leaders who are not doing any thing to help their country.

New photo of Comedian Njugush’s wife rocking her huge baby bump

Funny man Njugush is about to become a dad. His wife Celestine Ndinda is heavy with child and her recent photos show the huge baby bump she is rocking.

Even after announcing that they were expecting, Njugush and his wife have since kept their lives private. The comedian however continues to entertain his fans through the videos he shares on Instagram.

Anyway, the comedian’s wife happened to step out for Catherine Kamau’s wedding and the dress she wore could not hide the bump. In a short video shared by the lady, one can’t help but notice the huge baby bump which might pop anytime soon.

How far is the pregnancy?

This is a question that can only be answered by the couple. However judging from the size of the baby bump seems like Njugush’s wife is in her last semester. The two hopefully will announce their unborn baby’s gender soon as fans cannot wait to see if the baby will take after her daddy.

Comedian Njugush will never seize to amaze his audience. He is a funny man and he knows it. Lately his Instagram page has had nothing but funny clips which he entertains fans with.

Just recently he shared another video where he plays the role of a tout. Surprisingly he featured his pregnant wife who helped play the role of a passenger.

In the video Njugush shows how rough touts can be when trying to get passengers to board public transport. The video which has it’s funny scenes has left Kenyans asking for more projects and hopefully Njugush will deliver.

Acting career

Njugush first made headlines after he was featured on local TV show The Real Househelps of Kawangare. Even after leaving the show, he continuous to produce funny content for his die hard fans.

Comedian Njugush is quite a character. He is among the hilarious men we have come across the entertainment industry and if you ask me, he never runs out of jokes!

A few hours ago the fella decided to share a never before seen photo with his siblings on his social media pages where he ended up leaving most of his fans gasping for air after giving them a good laugh.

Looking at the photo it is easy to spot Njugush since his looks have never changed nor his physic. His sister on the right hand however remains a mystery to his fans since he has never introduced her to them but his brother by the name of Ngugi Ndegwah has been receiving some serious trolls after his older brother shared their throwback photo where he was caught unawares, sleeping while standing.

Njugush is going to be a daddy if the latest photo shared on his social media pages is anything to go by. The comedian shared the photo through his gram leaving his fans excited for the two.

This comes a few months after the comedian wedded the love of his life in a colorful wedding back in December 16, 2016. Anyway this is a good step for the comedian who is slowly expanding his family and a baby on the way will keep motivating him into being somebody better.

He might be the funniest comedian in Kenya but trust me Njugush also knows how to keep his wife, Celestine, happy despite his busy schedule.

Just recently he celebrated his wife’s birthday through his social media pages where he narrated how they met and how she always stood by him despite knowing that he had no money. Njugush went on to add that at times she would spare her collage pocket money just to make sure he had enough shopping in the house.

Their love story left many shocked and impressed with how they held each other through the hard time – I mean, this is something that rarely happens with couples from this age.

Away from that, Njugush made sure he flew his wife to Dubai for her birthday just to show how much he appreciated her. He however shared a few photos from their get away to prove that he was now in a position to treat his Queen the right way.

Comedian Njugush talks about his humble beginning and how his wife put up with it!

Njugush is a lucky man to have found a woman like Celestine who happens to be his wife! Just recently the lady turned a year older and to mark the special day, Njugush made sure to pamper her with a short trip away from the city just to have some alone time.

Anyway, this was however not enough as Njugush has now come out to express his love for his wife through a message shared on his gram. From what the comedian wrote we now understand that his wife has been by his side from the very start even before he became famous

The comedian went on to say,

This woman has been soo good to me.
Starting out bana nilikua nimeparara sana. There was no Njugush just a young guy trying to make it in life. Kuosha masahani kwa hoteli, auditions hapa na pale. This lady always held me down.I was so broke that at times couldn’t afford supper. She’d always save her college pocket money for that.She’d go to githurai market and do some shopping for the house. Lol yani she’s that day one.

He went on to add that;

Talking about one of the most embarrassing moments he faced when she was around Njugush said:

Iv never seen a mgenge lady such as she . I rem one day she came to my kabedsitter pale transami, a neighbours’ laptop had been stolen.physical searches were being conducted house to house, now it was my bedsitter’s turn. Aki the caretaker aliingia akaona nikiwa na matress na stove only akacheka and said ‘pwaahaha hapa ata mtu hawezi ficha” After they left this lady laughed out and said “babe usiskie vibaya, hii nyumba siku moja tutajaza” Thats the moment i knew haendi mahali (also that’s when we started using ata sijaskia vibaya phrase) Yani nyumba ilikua empty mpaka i made sure Abel mutua never entered that house, alikua anaenda kuingia chochoro nameambia huku ni kubaya side mirror zinaenda kwenda lol so he would fret and anasema nitaingia basi kukiwa mchana, i made sure that didn’t happen.lool

For the conclusion he added to say;

For real she kept me on my toes. Yani i had to make it or make it. I haven’t reached there yet but i thank God so far. He’s been amazing like i can’t say enough. I don’t know if there’s nothing i wouldn’t do for her, including kushika room?.
