Bensoul Says Friendship With Nviiri Remains Strong Despite Solo Paths

On KTN’s Art of Living on May 1st, singer Bensoul opened up about his current relationship with fellow artist Nviiri the Storyteller, revealing that although they haven’t performed together since leaving Sol Generation, their bond remains intact.

“We’re still very good,” Bensoul shared. “He even came for my show on 4/20.”
He added that the two used to live in the same apartment complex, with Nviiri residing in the unit above his. But after acquiring several pets, Nviiri relocated to a home in Karen to better accommodate them.
“Once he got many animals, he moved to a compound in Karen that had enough space for all of them.”

Bensoul emphasized that they still visit each other and dismissed any rumors of a fallout.
“There’s no bad blood,” he stated.

Bensoul was the first artist signed to Sol Generation in early 2019, the label created by award-winning Kenyan group Sauti Sol. Later that year, Nviiri Sande—known professionally as Nviiri the Storyteller—also joined the roster, gaining recognition through his performance in the group’s hit track Extravaganza.

Before his breakout, Nviiri worked as Sauti Sol’s videographer, capturing behind-the-scenes footage. It was Bien who first heard him sing and encouraged him to pursue music seriously.

Bensoul parted ways with Sol Generation in April 2023 to launch his own label, Lions of Sudah.
“I’ve learned a lot at Sol Generation, and I feel ready to build my own empire and support other artists,” he said in a previous interview. “I’m in a much better place now, and I want to focus on my own journey.”

A year later, in April 2024, Nviiri also announced his exit, officially ending a successful five-year stint with the label. In a farewell statement titled Unveiling a New Chapter in Musical Odyssey, he thanked Sauti Sol for their mentorship and the platform they provided.
“We bid farewell with hearts full of appreciation,” read part of the statement, which celebrated his growth under Sol Generation’s guidance.

Despite taking separate paths, both artists have made it clear their respect and friendship remain strong.

Bensoul Reflects on Being Dumped During Critical Illness

Former Sol Generation artist Bensol has opened up about a deeply personal experience that, while leaving him shattered, ultimately transformed his music career.

In a YouTube interview with Philip Karanja, the singer-songwriter shared a time when his health declined so severely that it threatened to derail his life and relationships.

“There were many moments in my life that I can attribute to God’s will and plan, but to single one out… there was a time I was ill, and I truly felt I might not survive,” Bensol recounted.

During this difficult period, his then-girlfriend ended their relationship due to his worsening health. “Her family was concerned, thinking, ‘This guy looks like he’s dying; maybe he has AIDS,’ since I had lost so much weight,” he explained.

Bensol clarified that, contrary to those assumptions, he was actually battling tuberculosis (TB), a disease that had severely weakened him.

As his health continued to decline, he had no choice but to return to his family home—a decision that unexpectedly became a pivotal moment in his career.

“I was extremely thin… but I believe everything that happened was essential for my life. I went back home, lost my voice, and could no longer sing, so I focused on writing songs,” Bensol said.

Isolated from external distractions, he dedicated himself to songwriting, pouring his emotions and creativity into his music.

“I wrote many songs from my imagination, trying to picture how they would sound. I’d mentally record them in my head using the huskiest voice, and I ended up creating some amazing tracks,” he shared.

This reflective and introspective approach to songwriting unlocked a new creative process for Bensol, which has become central to his music today.

“It revealed something within me, and I learned to write from my subconscious. Nowadays, when I go to the studio, I prefer not to write with loud music. I like finding a quiet place, visualizing the song, observing life around me, and getting the purest words from that,” he elaborated.

Bensol noted that while this unconventional method has yielded some of his best work, others in the industry sometimes struggle to understand it.

“I try to explain this to people and fellow artists, but they often don’t get it. I just see the music,” he concluded.

Bensol’s Health Crisis Fueled Creative Renaissance

Former Sol Generation artist, Bensol, has opened up about a harrowing personal experience that nearly derailed his career but ultimately led to a creative breakthrough. In a candid interview with Philip Karanja on YouTube, the singer-songwriter revealed how a severe health crisis forced him to confront his mortality and reevaluate his priorities.

“There was a time when I was sick, and I genuinely felt like I was going to die,” Bensol confessed. The illness not only took a toll on his physical health but also strained his relationships. His then-girlfriend ended their relationship due to his deteriorating condition, with her family even speculating that he might have AIDS.

However, Bensol clarified that he was battling tuberculosis, a disease that had left him physically weakened. As his health worsened, he was forced to return to his family home, a move that unexpectedly proved to be a turning point.

Isolated from the distractions of city life, Bensol found solace in songwriting. “I went back home, I had lost my voice, I couldn’t sing, so I was just writing songs,” he recalled. Despite his physical limitations, he channeled his emotions and imagination into crafting music.

“I penned a lot of songs from my imagination, trying to envision how they’d sound,” Bensol explained. This reflective approach to songwriting unlocked a new creative process for him, one that has become central to his music-making today.

“I learned to write from my subconscious,” he said. “These days, even when I go to the studio, I don’t like writing with loud music. I like going somewhere far and quiet, envisioning the song, seeing how life is happening around me, and I get the purest words from that.”

While this unconventional process has produced some of Bensol’s best work, he acknowledges that it’s not always easy to explain to others in the industry. “I try explaining that to people and other artists, and sometimes they don’t get it. I just see the music,” he said.

Bensoul defends his friendship with Cindy K., his ex-girlfriend’s best friend

Former Sol Generation signee Bensoul has found himself deeply in love, and his newfound romance with TikTok content creator Cindy Kipsang, also known as Cindy K, is stirring up quite the buzz.

Cindy K, once the best friend of Bensoul’s ex-girlfriend Noni Gathoni, has now become his romantic partner, sparking varied reactions from fans.

During his recent performance at Raha Fest, Bensoul surprised many by inviting Cindy K on stage and serenading her with his song ‘Favourite Song’, followed by presenting her with a bouquet of roses.

While some fans embraced the news enthusiastically, others found themselves bewildered, considering Cindy K’s past connections to both Bensoul’s ex-girlfriend and his close friend, YouTuber Prince Newton.

Cindy K had previously been involved with Prince Newton following a turbulent split from NRG host Shaq The Yungin, who accused her of infidelity with his friend.

Despite being aware of Cindy K’s romantic history, Bensoul remains steadfast in his love for her, asserting that their bond is strong and unaffected by outside opinions.

“We’ve been going out for a long time. This is my girl and she’s amazing. No matter what anybody says, they don’t know the story. If you want to comment, comment, it’s not going to hurt us. It won’t affect our love,” Bensoul declared.

According to the singer, they had been planning to publicly reveal their relationship for some time, and Raha Fest provided the perfect opportunity to do so.

Bensoul Highlights Benefits Of Weed As He Calls For It’s Legalization In Kenya

Talented musician Bensoul is calling for legalization of weed in the country. The singer, who has been among the few celebrities admonishing the govt to legalize, has been on the frontline justifying the pros of weed.

Bensoul shared his sentiments in a recent interview with SPM Buzz, where he outlined two main reasons for his stance: medicinal benefits and relaxation properties.

“Let’s legalize this, not just because people like us smoke it,” Bensoul said in Swahili. “The medicinal uses of this plant could significantly change our country’s medical industry.”

Bensoul, known for his hit song “4:20,” urged the government to consider legalization’s potential to aid those suffering from treatable conditions. He also emphasized bhang’s ability to promote relaxation and meditation.

“There are many distracting drugs out there,” Bensoul said. “Bhang offers a natural alternative.”

Bensoul Defies Deadbeat Father’s Advice to Pursue Musical Passion

Despite his father’s discouragement, Sol Generation artist Bensoul is grateful for his unwavering passion for music, which has led him to the pinnacle of success. Following his father’s footsteps was not a path Bensoul was destined to follow, as revealed in a recent interview on Sol Generation’s YouTube channel.

Bensoul’s father, also a talented musician in his youth, attempted to steer his son away from a musical career. However, from the tender age of three, Bensoul knew his heart belonged to music.

“My dad was also a musician. He sang in the choir and played with a certain band. He tried to stop me from doing music, but music has been a part of me since I was three years old,” Bensoul confessed.

Born and raised in Embu, Bensoul’s childhood was marked by his single mother’s unwavering support and the challenges of growing up in the Dallas slum. His father had left the family, leaving Bensoul and his older sister, Lucy, under their mother’s care.

Bensoul’s mother, who has since passed away, openly discussed the struggles of raising her two children, with an age difference of 13 years. She revealed that Bensoul’s passion for music became a source of tension between her and his father, ultimately leading to their separation.

“My husband decided to leave us due to his insistence on my conversion to Islam. He made it clear that if we didn’t embrace Islam, we would no longer be associated with him. Bensoul’s pursuit of a musical path also became a source of conflict between me and his father,” she explained.

Despite his unconventional upbringing, Bensoul holds strong family values.

“Family holds immense significance for me. Raised by my mother, my father may not have been physically present, but his presence is still felt. However, his current whereabouts remain unknown to me,” he said during the interview.

Bensoul’s journey exemplifies the power of pursuing one’s dreams despite adversity. His unwavering passion for music has undoubtedly shaped his path to success.

Bensoul’s baby mama brags about being the reason he broke up with his ex-girlfriend

Tiffany Muikamba, the baby mama of Sol Generation singer Bensoul, has sparked controversy with a cryptic Instagram story. In the story, she seemed to express her belief that there’s nothing wrong with being involved with someone in a relationship. She said, “Never feel bad for taking someone’s partner. You deserve to be happy too.”

Tiffany’s story has led to speculation about her relationship with Bensoul. In 2022, she became pregnant with Bensoul’s child while he was still dating Noni Gathoni. This led to accusations of Tiffany being a “homewrecker.” However, Tiffany has denied these accusations, saying that she only had a “civil relationship” with Bensoul at the time.

Bensoul has also recently opened up about the end of his long-term relationship with Noni. He said that the relationship simply ended and that he is now enjoying being single. He is focusing on his music career and fatherhood responsibilities.

The musician claimed that he is content with his life right now and mentioned that he can concentrate on both his music and the obligations of parenthood.

“Mahusiano yaliisha tu. Unajua mapenzi huisha. Nina raha vile niko single. Kazi yangu sasa ni muziki wangu na kulea binti yangu,”

Bensoul made it plain that he was the one who broke things off with his ex-girlfriend and that the decision to terminate things had no bearing on him.

“I’m like Harmonize I am single not mingle but I’m single..” Bensoul said in an interview with Mungai Eve in April.

After being in a relationship, the musician stated earlier this year that his romance with Noni Gathoni had ended.

Sol Generation artist Bensoul is in talking terms with his baby mama Tiffany Muikamba despite having a tumultuous time before welcoming their baby.

They were previously locking horns over the responsibility of the child.

A screenshot made rounds on social media showing that singer Bensoul was not on talking terms with Tiffany Muikamba.

The artist apparently, wanted Tiffany to contact his girlfriend Noni Gathoni whenever she wants any help, instead of talking to him directly.

The screenshot of the text exchange between Tifanny and Gathoni read;

“Thank you. Also Ben wants you to be talking to me directly if you want to reach him. Is that okay?”

However, Tifanny didn’t like the idea, terming it unfair.

“Hey no, it’s not okay respectfully. You are not the baby’s father so how does that make sense,” she responded.

The mother of one was updating her fans about her motherhood journey two weeks after she welcomed a baby girl.

Bensoul’s Baby Mama Tiffany Muikamba Says She Misses Him

Sol Generation musician Bensoul’s baby mama Tiffany has opened up about missing the singer at times. The damsel, who happened to be impregnated by the singer while he was in another relationship, claims that he thinks about him on several occasions.

She shared on her socials that the two are no longer in bad terms and that she’s reminiscing the good times they had when they were still together.

” would be lying if I said I never think about you. What we had, our love hate relationship. Everything feels so ridiculously funny right now.”

Even though the two are no longer together, Tiffany said she loves that they are at peace now and she is happy raising her daughter.

“Considering how everything went downhill so freaking fast, I love the peace and harmony we now share. Life really has its ups and downs so never focus on the downs only because I never thought I would be this happy plus peaceful. It all feels like a dream but it’s really a huge miracle.”

“Just realized something I never though I’ll be thinking of. I’m actually ready to date again, but I have a lot of rules.”

Baby mama takes a swipe at Bensoul, mocks him for growing up without a dad

Bensoul’s baby mama is clearly not happy with her unborn baby’s dad – that is judging from the posts shared on social media. Okay okay, for those who don’t know… word making rounds in town is that Bensoul is about to become a dad.

Bensoul with girlfriend

Yes, the 24 year old singer has a baby on the way, with one of his former flings. From what we’ve heard is that the pregnant girl is from Mombasa – and the pregnancy unfortunately was a result of a one nightstand; however the girl, Tiffany Muikamba claims her relationship with Bensol was never a one nightstand as alleged – but all in all the good thing is that he promised to take responsibility of the unborn baby.

A few weeks down the line and the two are back to making headlines – thanks to the amount of shade they keep throwing at each other. Well from what we’ve seen is that Bensol and his girlfriend, Noni Gathoni can’t stop choking baby mama haters with their unbreakable love.

Bensoul’s baby mama

This became obvious after Bensol shared a short video of both him and girlfriend singing to Ginseng Strip 2002

… Bitches come and go, brah
But you know I stay

And that there ladies and gentlemen sounds like a diss aimed at someone who tried splitting them apart – but failed.

Baby mama hits back, hard

Well having seen the video and having most of her hormones work overtime now that she has a human growing inside her; Ms Muikamba decided to respond – but damn was she savage.

You see, she opted to share a post which we all know was aimed at Bensol – who once opened up about growing up without a dad around. In his own words Bensol described his relationship with his dad saying his mzee ako busy anarobosa huku tu Nairobi.

Words he probably never thought anyone would use against him until baby mama came along. Well, from what we can see is that Ms Muikamba recently threw some shade to her baby daddy in a post talking about deadbeats…but this time around she used his dad to hit back. Ouch. But again, hasira hasara.

Love wins! Girlfriend celebrates Sol Generations Bensoul with special message as he turns a year older

Trust me there is no such thing as bad publicity. Publicity is publicity and Noni Gathoni is making good use of her boyfriend’s cheating scandal – that is judging from her Instagram posts.

Just a few hours ago she was said to have thrown shade at Bensoul who not only cheated but impregnated a certain girl from Mombasa. In the now deleted post, Noni wrote;

Also read: Bensoul’s girlfriend reacts after he admits to impregnating another woman

Enyewe mal*y* ni mal*y* tu

But again, the post could have been aimed at the other lady – who exposed the scandal through blogger Edgar Obare. Ama?

Birthday boi!

Anyway, in case you mistook the post shared above as a breakup stunt – then….. jokes on you because Noni Gathoni isn’t planning on leaving her bae, Bensoul. Asking why?

Well, the lady has joined the many fans celebrating Bensoul who just turned 24 years on March 4th. Noni celebrated her man by sharing an old photo from her IG timeline to which she wrote;

Happy birthday my love ❤️ @bensoulmusic

And to prove that everything was perfectly okay between him and Noni, Bensoul reposted  the post on his IG – but did not caption it.

I know there’s the ‘can never be me’ team watching from the sidelines – but again iriz whar iriz and life has to move on. Right?

Bensoul’s girlfriend reacts after he admits to impregnating another woman

It is no longer secret that Bensoul cheated on his girlfriend Noni Gathoni and the worst part is that he got the other woman pregnant. Wait, what happened to protecting your partner when you’re involved with other people especially a one night stand?

Anyway, sadly – yes it happened and although Bensoul had an option of denying and covering up the story; he came out, spoke about it and admitted to have made a mistake.

Having him address the issue may have been the best thing ever; that is judging from how fans are applauding him for being man enough to admit when he is wrong.

With all this drama going on, girlfriend Noni Gathoni who has found herself in the middle maintainer her silence until just recently when she first addressed the issue.

As expected, Noni Gathoni is not only angry but disappointed by the fact that her boyfriend cheated and impregnated another woman; knowing very well their relationship was already public.

However from her reaction, it’s obvious to see that she didn’t expect much from Bensoul – who she bashed saying;

Enyewe Mal*ya ni Mal*ya tu

Ouch, right? Anyway with this reaction is it safe to say Gathoni is now single, since clearly there’s about to be some baby mama drama from the other lady. I mean, wasn’t she the one who leaked the story despite Bensoul accepting responsibility of the unborn child?

‘Nairobi’ hitmaker Bensoul admits to cheating on girlfriend and impregnating ‘side chick’

Just wow. Anyway word making rounds on social media is that Bensoul has one on the way but problem is, he is not expecting the baby with girlfriend but a girl he apparently met during a show in Mombasa.

Bensoul

The exclusive given by Edgar Obare May have been aimed at exposing the Sol Generation artiste – who by the way has confirmed the story is true. According to Bensoul, he was planning on addressing the issue soon but Edgar beat him to it.

In his statement, the Nairobi hit maker wrote;

Hey Edgar, yes this is true, a mistake I did on my part and my people know that I have been doing all I can to be there for the unborn child.

Adding;

I was about to make the story public but I guess you beat me to it. If you need any more information, ask me.

Bensoul in Mombasa

As you can expect, fans on social media are having a field day with the new tea; especially since the singer was the first one to expose how Kanairo relationships work. What he didn’t know is that one day he would find himself caught up in such a scandal.

Bensoul alisema sote tunashare and he just confirmed hakuna mtu wa mtu. No? But again, having him accept the responsibility proves he is not ready to join the celeb deadbeat dad list. Yes?

This Is Why Bensoul Wants Marijuana Legalized In Kenya

Benson Mutua Muia, famously known as Bensoul, has joined the controversial debate on whether to legalize marijuana or not. The singer seems to strongly agree with Octopizzo on the issue of legalizing the drug.

In an interview, Bensoul said that marijuana is actually safer than the cigarettes and alcohol people are taking.

”I feel like ni conversation government yetu inafaa ku take upon.”

BENSOUL’s REASON FOR LEGALIZATION

The singer also adds that marijuana has helped economies to grow. He also gives an example of Rwanda and Canada.

”Angalia countries kama Canada, walilipa deni yao within the second day. It’s a big industry.”

He also adds that USA has a good economy because they legalized Marijuana.

The singer has joined Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Octopizzo to campaign and champion for the legalization of marijuana in Kenya publicly.

The late Kibera Member of Parliament, Hon. Ken Okoth has also been championing and campaigning for the legalization of weed.

He wrote to the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to petition for the legalization of marijuana use. He was the first Kenyan MP ever to support marijuana legalization.

I honestly think that our economy needs to try all means to get better and sustainable. Besides, we have a huge debt to pay as a country.

‘Baba Yangu Ako Tu Lakini Sijui Ako Corner Gani-I Was Raised By My Mom and Sister’- Bensoul

Benson Mutua Muia, famously known as Bensoul, has been the talk of the town after his latest song release ‘Nairobi’. The song features Sauti Sol, Nviiri the Storyteller and Mejja. The hit song has been hailed by most netizens for the message that it conveys about Nairobi girls. The song was released a week ago and has fetched over 1.4 million views on YouTube.

In a recent interview, Bensoul says that his father is alive but he doesn’t know where he is right now. He adds that it’s normal for such to happen.

”So, mimi nimezaliwa Embu and raised by my mom and my sister. Baba yangu ako tu lakini sijui ako corner gani. Lakini hiyo ni hali ya kawaida saa zingine.”

Bensoul wrote his first song when he was in high school.

”It was inspired by “Lazizi” and I dedicated it to a girl I liked back then. Guys liked the song and I felt like it was something I could do. I went on to write some gospel songs. When I moved from Embu to Nairobi in 2013, to study Civil Engineering at the University of Nairobi, I met H_art the Band at Kenya National Theatre and, with time, my writing got so much better that they started asking me to write for them.”

Bensoul is definitely a promising talent. More collabos with Sauti Sol will boost him at the top in the music industry.

Mejja comes under attack after dropping a whack verse in Bensoul’s ‘Nairobi’ (Video)

Celebrated Kenyan singer Major Nameye Khadija, known to you and I as Mejja, found himself on the receiving end after netizens claimed that his verse on Bensoul’s latest jam Nairobi featuring Sauti Sol and Nviiri is below par.

Okwonkwo, as he is popularly known, was the man behind the biggest hits in 2020. As such, we would not blame Bensoul for asking him to drop a verse on the track.

Bensoul

However, many Kenyans were not really impressed with his lyrics in Nairobi – which basically talks about how girls are sleeping with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

While some opined that him featuring in every song that comes out has become monotonous, others claimed that he ruined Nairobi, which according to them is a good song, and that his verse should be deleted.

Super excited about the meet up, the artist got to the venue ahead of time and waited for his light-skin babe who did not disappoint.

Telling their story, a dear Noni revealed they were actually celebrating their first anniversary together before telling of how they met.

“We first met on social media, basic chats, nothing serious. Until this one evening when we crossed paths at an entertainment event,” recalled Noni.

She was attending an evening birthday party of one of her girlfriends while Bensoul was there to catch up with his male friends.

Remember, these two had never met physically, so they literally bumped into each other at the night event and Noni realized that this is the guy she has been chatting with online.

“So I approached him and tapped him from his back then we chatted endlessly, had a good night and exchanged numbers,” she continued.

Funny enough, Bensoul never hit her up until like a week later to ask her whether she got home safely and all.

“We kept meeting up and the chemistry slowly started building and we moved to the next level,” sweetly recalled Noni Gathoni.

Dallas, Embu is a slum area the talented multi-instrumentalist called a home for a better part of his younger years. A small mud house where he and his older sister of 13-years age difference were born and bred. With only one parent to call a mother after his dad demanded that they either convert to Islam or they forget that he ever existed.

Bensoul’s mother speaks of their humble beginnings

His mom took up the second option and since then, life was never the same.

Music break

Bensoul started showing keen interest in music at the tender age of 3. He studied until campus enrolled into a Bachelors in Civil Engineering before dropping out in his final year to pursue his passion in music.

Benson Mutua Muia, famously known as Bensoul discovered his gift in music from a young age

At first, his decision cost him big time before his gradual break in the music industry, introduced him to H_rt the Band, forcing the boys to move to Kayole together but life was not any better.

When he wrote El Shaddai, in Rongai, things took a nose dive. Bensoul persistently coughed all month, lost tremendous amount of weight, leaving him looking all-bony.

“I think that was one of my lowest moments. We told him to come and stay with mum. He could not sit on a chair without a sponge because the bones were very weak,” his sister Lucy painfully recalled.

Bensoul’s sister tells of a horrifying experience

His mom immediately broke to tears after spotting her skinny son.

I did not see a body, I saw bones. I was like a mad woman. So I left him in the house and went to look for a doctor.

According to Bensoul, he might have been infected with the deadly HIV/AIDS.

I had all the signs (of HIV) and at times I would feel like life was coming to an end. I nearly gave up on music because if I couldn’t sing, and I couldn’t explain what I have written, then there was no point in doing music.

Bensoul

He got tested and fortunately turned HIV negative. But there was an underlying issue that almost cost him his life.

They discovered it was tuberculosis. Everyday I ate a portion for 5 people.

Away from that, according to Bien, Bensoul is pretty talented and his exceptional gift will see him cross boundaries.

The jam dubbed Sweet Sensi, has been getting a lot of airplay since it was released a few days ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it.

Bensoul

Interestingly, the first time I heard Sweet Sensi, which talks about the culture of smoking marijuana, I did not really like it but with time, it grew on me and now I can’t get enough of it.

It’s such a beautiful composition. Think of it like Zzero Sufuri’s Zimenishika with some uptown vibe and a little bit of oomph (I didn’t even Google what this word means but it seemed like a good fit).

If you’re a huge fan of Bensoul –like myself – then this is definitely a treat especially if you are a stoner because to be honest that is what this jam is mostly about  – celebrating the culture of smoking weed.

Bensoul has an amazing voice and most times I feel that he should even be doing acappella because he doesn’t really need instruments.

As he sings, you feel like he is right in front of you because it is so lively. To add to that, the musician who is signed to Sol Generations, has a wide vocal range.

The fact that he featured Nairobi Horns project on this jam made it even better because they really spiced it up with their instruments. I don’t know if there is anyone in this country who can handle an instrument better than them.

There is not much to say about the video really because it is made up of clips from different events. Anyway, although the concept is simple, I love the fact that it is not dull.

The track titled No Kisses has been ruling the airwaves since it was released a few days ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it.

Bensoul

If you are a huge fan of Bensoul – like myself – then this is definitely a treat especially if you are the lovey dovey type or just emotional.

No Kisses tells the story of two lovers who are no longer seeing eye to eye because of one reason or the other and that means that they can’t kiss or hug. As such, the guy is forced to learn to love her from apart.

I don’t know about you but this song is well-arranged and I just can’t get enough of it. It’s those songs that you want to listen to over and over because it sounds so pleasant to the ears.

The instrumentation on No Kisses is really dope and I’m not even surprised that Bensoul was playing the piano since we all know that he is an all round artist.

H_art The Band latest release with Bensoul titled ‘Lover Lover’ is too awesome (Audio)

H_art The Band, a music group that became a household name after releasing Uliza Kiatu circa 2014, has dropped a new song with Bensoul and we really love it.

Also read: H_art The Band makes good music but no one cares

The song titled Lover Lover, which is from their debut album Made In The Streets, is one song that will make you hit the replay button a couple of times.

As the title suggests, this song is about a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person. More often than not, you don’t have have to say it because they can feel it.

H_art The Band
H_art The Band

If you are a fan of both Bensoul and H_art The Band then I am sure you’ve been looking forward to the day they treat us with a collabo. Well, that day is finally here.

The word that aptly describes this song is magical. This song is really a vibe. I played it a couple of times and I’m still in love with it.

H_art The Band members namely; Mordecai Kimeu, Kenneth Muya and Wachira Gatama came through on this jam. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting anything less from them.

However, I must say that of the trio, I think Mordecai totally killed it. There is just something unique about his tenor that makes it awesome to listen to.

Bensoul
Bensoul

Bensoul also nailed it. From the way he sings in this jam, anyone can easily tell that this jam has a deeper meaning to him, maybe just maybe, he had a particular person in mind when he was penning his verse. Sorry ladies.

The beat and instrumetalization for this jam is also dope. Although this is not the kind of jams that you would expect people to dance to, I would not be surprised if I saw someone busting a move to it. Props to the producer.

I honestly can’t wait to listen to and review more songs from Hart The Band’s debut album because from the look of things, it’s totally out of this world.

Sauti Sol has to put up a strong fight to save Kenyan music

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with the kind of music that is popular in Kenya at the moment, in as much as it’s vulgar, I still find it enjoyable.

Also read: Believe it or not, Sauti Sol is saving the Kenyan music industry

However, we have laud the likes of Sauti Sol for trying to model the next generation of musicians and showing them that they don’t have to be risqué to make hits.

New musicians and groups are emerging everyday and most of them seem to be taking the same direction with their music.

Ethic led the way when they released Lamba Lolo in 2018 and because it became a big hit, everyone thinks that is the way to go.

Ethic Figa
Ethic

Sometimes I miss sane, responsible and mature music, the kind that you can listen to even when an elder person is in the room.

However, if you are keen, I’m sure notice that that kind of music is becoming less each day.

Almost every musician, even the established ones, are going route of Ethic because it is what is popular in Kenya at the moment.

People like Sauti Sol are showing us that it does not have to be like that, that you don’t have to be dirty to make a hit.

However, it seems to be a difficult task since the whole country has made vulgar music acceptable.

The boy-band will have to put a strong fight if they want to save Kenyan music because this wave is sweeping over so fast.

Watch Sauti Sol’s jam with Bensoul, Nviiri The Storyteller, Crystal Asige and Kaskazini below.

Believe it or not, Sauti Sol is saving the Kenyan music industry

I’ve listened to Sauti Sol’s new jam Extravaganza a couple of times since it was released. I kept hitting the replay button because the song sounds great. I really love it!

Sauti Sol
Sauti Sol

Each time I listened to the song I kept thinking how different it is from what the vulgar music that we have gotten used to in the last 1 year (or so).

The new song by Sauti Sol, Bensoul, Nviiri The Storyteller, Crystal Asige and Kaskazini is about a party  but it was executed so beautifully.

The other thing that I loved about Extravaganza is the fact the different singers didn’t have to throw in dirty words like lamba lolo, geuka nikubeng and what have you to make the song enjoyable.

Also read: New age musicians are destroying the Kenyan sound

I honestly miss kind of of music. It’s music that is sane, responsible and mature. People are just singing about ordinary things and it sounds so good to the ears.

As I listened to the song I a realized that Sauti Sol is trying to salvage the local music industry. Hope is not lost ladies and gentlemen!

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx6rjqmhsFU/

The band has signed up a couple of singers to their label – Sol Generation Records – and they are trying to show them that you don’t have to be vulgar to get people’s attention.

I have immense respect for Sauti Sol because they have taken it upon themselves to mentor the likes of Bensoul, Nviiri The Storyteller, Crystal Asige and Kaskazini.

We are at a time when vulgar music has become the order of the day so that some artists thought it was okay to release a song and make fun of a university student who was hacked to death.

Sauti Sol could not sit back and watch these as the so called ‘new-age musicians’ ruined the industry so they act! Props to them!

Watch Sauti Sol’s new jam with Bensoul, Nviiri The Storyteller, Crystal Asige and Kaskazini below.

Bensoul is talented, Sauti Sol shouldn’t force him down people’s throats

Singer and songwriter Benson Mutua, alias Bensoul, is indeed gifted. Actually, some music fans claim that he’s one of the best, if not the best, male vocalists in Kenya – a sentiment that I have no qualms with.

A few days ago, Bensoul re-affirmed this notion when he released his second project under Sol Generation Records dubbed Favorite Song. If you listen to the song, you can tell that a lot of thought went into putting it together. It’s a masterpiece.

His first single under the stable titled Lucy was also a work of art. Bensoul spends so much time honing his songwriting and performance skills. Perhaps this would explain why his songs are doing well.

But then again you could argue that Bensoul has Sauti Sol to thank for his newfound success seeing as they have been promoting his music heavily across their social media pages that have millions of followers.

Sauti Sol with Bensoul on Chipukeezy Show

What you may not know is that Bensoul has been doing music for quite some time. He had a name and a fanbase even before he was ‘discovered’ by Sauti Sol. He was not doing that well but he had made some steps, including recording a big hit with H_art The Band dubbed Masheesha.

To a large extent, I feel that Sauti Sol has been shoving Bensoul down people’s throats which should not be case because he is really good at what he does.

You know the Swahili proverb that says “Chema chajiuza kibaya chajitembeza“? I feel like Bensoul should just be allowed to flourish on his own. He should face challenges like any other upcoming artist so that he can really appreciate success when he gets there.

The thing about talent is that it might take time before someone recognizes it but it will be appreciated eventually. It also needs to be appreciated naturally. I’ll listen to Bensoul’s music because I feel it’s good and not because Sauti Sol keep hyping him on their pages.

In as much as Bensoul is Sol Generation Records’ first signing, I feel that the brands should be allowed to maintain their unique identities. Sauti Sol can support him but from a distance. For instance, why do they need to accompany him to every single interview?

I want to see Bensoul and think of Bensoul. I don’t want to see him and start asking myself whether he is the 5th member of Sauti Sol. There needs to be a clear distinction.

Bensoul’s latest single ‘Favorite Song’ is definitely one for the books (Video)

Kenyan singer and songwriter Benson Mutua, alias Bensoul, is back at it again with another soulful song and we’ve got nothing but love.

He captured the attention of music lovers when he released his first song under Sol Generation Records dubbed Lucy. We knew right there and then that he’s one artist that we should keep an eye out for and we were right.

Six weeks down the line, Bensoul is back with another soulful song that many of us, including yours truly, can’t get enough of not for any other reason but because it speaks directly to the heart.

Titled Favorite Song, the new tune brings to life a moment of in a lover’s life that is filled with happiness, gratitude, adoration and all the good stuff.

What struck me most about this song is the instrumentalization. It’s totally out of this world and I’m not exaggerating. If you listen keenly, you’ll hear beautiful guitar strings of in the background.

Bensoul Favorite Song
Bensoul

The song has simple lyrics which are easy to remember. Actually, if you listen to Favorite Song thrice you will have mastered the whole song. I’m not even kidding.

The chorus goes like, “Darling darling I will sing your favourite song because I’m feeling lucky to have you dance along..to your favourite song.

The video which was directed by KG Brian and Rodney Wachira is very vivid. It paints a real picture in your mind so much so that if you are the lovey dovey type, you’ll find yourself missing a specific person.

If you ask me, I think this song will be much bigger Lucy. I can’t help but imagine what Bensoul’s subsequent releases under the stable will be like. We are here for the ride.
