British Producer Arrested in Uganda over Gay Play

A British theatre producer was yesterday arrested in Uganda for staging a play about a gay person in Kampala. This comes despite a temporary ban by the country’s media authorities.

Producer David Cecil will stay in jail till Monday when his hearing is expected to come up. . “There are two charges preferred against him, one of disobeying lawful orders contrary to the penal code and another of staging the play which was still under review,” Ibin Ssenkumbi, a spokesman for the Kampala police, told AFP.

The groundbreaking play, The River and The Mountain, was staged at several venues around Kampala last month despite an injunction by Uganda’s media council, the government media authority, which had placed a temporary ban on the play pending review of the script. The play examines the plight of a man who comes out as homosexual and the motivations of Uganda’s vociferous anti-gay lobby. The play was written by British playwright Beau Hopkins but directed and performed by Ugandans.

Homosexuality is already a crime in Uganda but proposed legislation currently before parliament would see the death penalty introduced for certain homosexual acts. To this effect, public discussion of homosexuality (including by rights groups) would be punished by up to seven years in jail.

Do you know which is the most viewed Kenyan music video?

This is unbelievable stuff. Really, this is amazing. I have always kept tabs on which Kenyan music video has the most views on YouTube for the longest time. Jaguar’s ‘Matapeli’ and ‘Kigeugeu’ have been on the top for quite a while, but one, it’s just been kicked out of the number one slot and guess who has replaced him…

Camp Mulla! Who else did you expect? Their latest music video has taken YouTube by storm. Only a week in, the ‘feel no pain’ video is already the most viewed Kenyan music video of all time on YouTube with 19, 380 views. In a week!

If that isn’t amazing, I don’t know what it. Check out the video below and find out what made it the most viewed video.

Pulse and Ogopa are hosting a party at Crayfish Tomorrow. You are invited

The Pulse Magazine crew and the Ogopa DJs stable will be holding it down tomorrow (15Th September 2012) at the Crayfish Camp, Naivasha. This won’t be like any other camping outing. Not at all. It will be a celebrity studded, red carpet like event.

The two companies will be hosting this event, meant to be a weekend outing and showbiz extravaganza at the same time, meaning you get to spend some quality time with family or friends, while enjoying performances from Ogapa artistes such as Colonel Mustafa, Marya, Amani, Avril, Trapee and Kenzo among others.

Pulse and Ogopa will be heading over to Naivasha in style. They will be taken by Limos R Us all the way. Yes, riding in a limo all the way to Naivasha. Pretty awesome, huh?

See you there.

What Makes a Good Reality Show?

Sometime back we revealed the top five events in Kenya. Today we’ll highlight the factors that make a good reality show. Most of us are fans because we have realized that watching reality television truly makes us realize how “normal” our lives are and how screwed up so many others around us can be. So what are the secrets behind their success?

#Make the prize something worth being on TV for
This is why Tusker Project Fame has been around for long. This show offers 5 million Kenyan shillings to ultimate winner of the 8 weeks show. The truth is, people want the money so they turn out in large numbers during auditions and those who make it into the house work as hard as they can.

# Showcase people with talent
Sakata Dance Competition and Tusker Project Fame (TPF) are great shows that give undiscovered talent a chance to prove themselves. These shows are created to give the contestants a “leg up” in an otherwise extremely competitive business. Plus it is so nice to see truly talented people finally get their due.

# Get popular and attractive hoststpf
As much as I hate to admit it, any reality show producer MUST have a fairly popular and attractive host. From Sheila Mwanyigha, to Wahu, to Lilian Muli, and even Dr. Mitch Egwang’, all of these hosts have looks, charisma and knowledge of their show. They always speak well and are never boring.

# Drama, Drama, Drama
Every reality show has to have “high school like” drama. This is what keeps fans coming back. For instance, the girls have to “fight” for the hottest guy on the show and vice versa, the guys are complaining about food sufficiency and the judges (or one of them) have to be egomaniacs for all fans to love to hate them.

# Emotion is the key
Finally, a great reality show must deliver the moments that make viewers mad or make them cry all at the same time. Viewers care about they are watching. If that means leaving them hanging until the next episode, do it because they will watch. It’s normal for viewers to get mad at the producers for making them wait to see who gets eliminated but it’s guaranteed that viewers will have the television on the minute the next episode comes on.

In a nutshell, the only way to make the show great is by making the people at home care enough to allow those people to stay on television and complete the task at hand.

9 Of The Worst Friends To Go Out With!

One of the worst mistakes when it comes to work nights is going out for a tipple that turns out to be more than a drink as always happens.

Well, i was unfortunate enough to get assigned to hit up an event mid-week and i paid the ultimate price for it… a hangover from hell complete with hell’s most furious bats singing “Figaro” in my head.
But it wasn’t completely a waste seeing as i got to do what i love doing… No, not drinking, i’m talking about observing people.
As the night wore on, i saw a lad torment his friends with his douchbagery and overheard one say that he (the drunk) is the reason he doesn’t enjoy going out.
Every group of friends has one of those… actually, every group of friends has one of these:

The Leech
This guy always forgets his wallet and visa card at home -conveniently though, he didn’t forget his thirst at home. Don’t get me wrong, once in a while boys buy each other pints but this chap is always the recipient… and they ambush you -they never let you know before hand that they’re skint (broke).
This chap goes on to drink asthough liver cirrhosis is a myth!

Mr. Goon

angry_by_zalas.jpg
This lad isn’t even of the human species. This chap is homostupidus. How else can you explain a lad going to the club JUST to pick a fight?
This chap will instigate fights over silly misunderstandings such as “This chap looked at me wrong!” What?! And they expect you to validate their stupidity by backing them up in a fight.
I know you should have your boy’s back but not when he is clearly the antagonist! And this goon idiot always picks a fight with the biggest chap around!
If your weekends usually involve nursing wounds the morning after, you need to improve the gene pool you hang out with.

DOUCHEBAG.jpg

Mr. Casanova
This is the lad who goes out expecting to get lucky. He picks out a strategic spot in the club and wastes no time eye-rap*ng every lady. The worst thing about this chap is that when he gets tipsy, he begins touching himself… Inappropriately… This chap is also really good at creeping behind ladies who only become aware of his presence when he begins uhm… Let’s just say they “feel” his presence.
Problem is, this chap harrasses lasses that are spoken for and their lads are never flattered by the attention they are showing the lass in question.
There is nothing wrong with hitting the club looking to get lucky but do not harass the female patrons. And creeping up to a lady dancing with a partner is just suspect!

bored-273x300.jpg

Mr. Complainer
This chap complains from the minute you hit the club to the point you want to cause him to bodily harm. The music isn’t hype enough, the women aren’t attractive, the drinks taste flat, the music sucks, your shoes suck, they hate their lives blah blah blah!
Anyone who does this should be slapped! These guys are the worst downers ever! If you didn’t want to come out you should have stayed home.

Mr. Dynamo
This chap is bursting with energy and always wants to cram the night with a visit to EVERY club around. This lad doesn’t understand why you are grumpy at 6 in the morning when they suggest passing by Q’s… After you’ve already been to Volar, Brew, a house party in Kitengela, Mercury ABC Place, Mollys and steady sippin at some random parkinglot.
This chap will even have the energy to suggest you go to church for a service after all your debauchery!

Passed-Out.jpg

Mr. Passed Out
This is usually a hybrid of Mr. Leech and Mr. I-can’t-handle-my-liquor. This chap passes out on the dancefloor if you’re lucky and if you aren’t, this lad will pass out in the toilet… pants down… Bleurgh!
This chap always passes out and rarely ever recalls the previous night’s proceedings and this is usually the fattest and heaviest in the group.

Mr. Over-dancer
This chap takes dancing to a whole other level. He dances to every song in the latest high school/ natty/ safara moves. This chap will wait for the lass you’ve been chatting up to agree to dance with you then start grinding on her as you dance with her and not understand why you got pissed and the lass left.
This is also the chap who will dance asthough he is having uhm… coitus on the dancefloor.

Mr. Cockblocker
Why is he even in your circle? Promptly proceed to slap him then exile him from your circle, no one likes a cockblocker!

Mr. Vomit machine
This chap always vomits. Then vomits some more. The only time he isn’t vomiting, he is about to start vomiting. This lad takes projectile sports very seriously as is shown through his dedication to vomiting.

10 Tips on Partying & Raving Safely by Nonini

This morning, Nonini went on one of his Facebook monologues, this time, about the murder of Mercy Keino. The rapper and radio presenter then went on to give advice and tips to follow while out on a rave. It is usual text book advice laced with some Nonini wisdom. Check them out below.

1. Kumbuka sio lazima utumie alcohol or other drugs to have fun.
2. Kula poa kabla utoke keja, sawa. A full stomach slows the absorption of alcohol.
3. Ka unakata maji, kunywa mdogo mdogo. Don’t let others top up your drinks and go for low alcohol options wherever possible. Na ka wewe si mtu ma shots, jo usijichoche.
4. The best way to avoid drug-related problems is not to use at all. If you do, make sure you know what you’re taking and find out how to reduce the risks of overdose or injury. Kisha ambia beste zako unatumia nini ndio incase of emergency ambulance ikamu waulize, “Ametumia?” Watu wanajua what you used sawa.
5. Trust your own judgement. Don’t let peer pressure sway you into doing anything you don’t want to do. Fuata nafsi yako.
6. Kuwa radar na dunda na mabeste una-trust.
7. Take condoms with you if you think you might end up having sex. Na usiweke tu kwa mfuko, tumia.
8. Don’t get into a car with a driver who has been drinking. Panda taxi.
9. Remember that your judgement may be impaired if you’ve been drinking or taking drugs. Don’t take risks you may regret such as diving into water if you don’t know how deep it is or fooling around near swimming pools. Ubabini…mchoree.
10. Leave for somewhere safe if you feel unsafe at a venue or party.

Five things you must never say to an artiste

As a listener/fan, you might think that being an artiste is something very simple. I mean, just get out of bed, roll up a blunt, get some inspiration and write up out of this world lyrics that will drive everyone crazy for your songs. Dude, it ain’t that easy at all. Just ask any one hit wonder you know.

There are some sadistic trolls that get off from making the artistes’ lives a living hell by asking silly questions that demoralize and provoke the artiste to a point of losing it, especially after a concert. These are some of those stupid questions.

5. “Dude! You couldn’t compose anything better than this?”

Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, would totally go Onyancha on you especially after pulling off what to them was the best performance of their life. Come on man, you try composing a song and sing it to people who have expectations the size of a skyscraper.

4. “You used to be a really good artiste. What in the world happened?”

If the artiste is a guy, you have just landed a severe kick on his nuts. If it’s a girl, you have burned down her hair. He/she would at this time, have nothing to say, unless of-course he can say it through his fists. Whether true or not, that is just straight up cruel.

3. “Why can’t you sing more like so and so? He is pretty good you know.”

Stepping into the music industry with someone else’s style and flow is just lame, not to mention wrong. Cut the artiste some slack. At least he’s original and just in-case you don’t agree, keep it to yourself.

2. “Was music the best professional you could choose for yourself?”

By saying this, you have just insinuated that he can’t sing to save his life. No artist will take this politely and the conversation won’t end well, whether you intended to offend or not. You’ve just messed up big time.

1. (To his/her face) “YOUR MUSIC SUCKS!”

At this point, you better run for cover. It is moments like these that turn celebrities into violent maniacs, all because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut. For crying out loud, SHUT UP! Keep your opinions to yourself.

Unbelievable! #PamojaConje yesterday raised Sh. 84, 000 in one hour!

The Pamoja na Conje campaign has so far achieved quite a lot. The team and its supporters for the first time met yesterday at the Tamasha Restaurant to physically raise funds for the aid of Conjestina Achieng.

The contribution was unbelievable. Celebrities, politicians and fans alike, all made it happen and they are still making it happen right now by sending more money to the paybill number 222911 Ac No. 2012.

Within just one hour, they had raised Sh. 84, 000. No, seriously, they did. Makadara MP, Gedion ‘Sonko’ later donated Sh. 50, 000 in cash.

The contributions went on and on and by the end of the night, they had contributed a total amount of Sh. 450, 000.

The support that Conjestina is getting from her fellow country men is overwhelming and very patriotic. Keep on sending what you can to the paybill number above and see just how far your effort goes.

SCAM ALERT: How Conmen Are Using Fake Celebrity Profiles On Facebook To Steal Your Money

I was recently in a cyber cafe in Fig Tree, Ngara, browsing the internet before I boarded a matatu home. I was leisurely scrolling through my favorite websites, when I was distracted by the sound of a tall, dark man seated on my right, clicking buttons on his computer at a fast and furious pace.

I glanced over to see whether he might be having some trouble navigating his computer. The separator between my desk and his was small, so I could see most of what he was doing. To my shock and horror, he was on Facebook, as Julie Gichuru! The reason for his frantic clicking was because he was rejecting and accepting the flood of friend requests that were coming into the ‘Julie Gichuru’ profile.

Seeing that a tall, dark man was browsing Facebook under the guise of being Julie Gichuru, a petite, light skinned TV anchor, I was intrigued. My eyes remained glued to his screen. Lucky for me, the man was engrossed in his activities, so he was not perturbed by my intrusive stare. It was interesting to see the amount of activity on this “Julie Gichuru” profile. There were hundreds of pending friend requests, messages and notifications waiting for the man to read. Notably, the man was filtering through the friend requests, quickly accepting friend requests from women and swiftly rejecting friend requests from men.
After he was done with the pending friend requests, he turned to “Julie Gichuru’s” inbox, where there were many girls who were pouring their hearts out to “Julie” as her adoring fans. The man didn’t seem to be interested in any of these love letters. After several messages, the man finally stopped to focus on one. He did a small celebratory gesture with his hands when he saw this message. There was a young woman who seemed to be having trouble searching for a job. She went on to tell “Julie Gichuru” about her troubles while tarmacking, and how she would appreciate if “Julie” were to look for a job opening for her in Citizen TV. The man replied to this inbox, saying that he will get the lady a job, if only she sent money via MPESA to a certain phone number. Minutes later, there was a ring on the man’s phone. He woke up and went to the MPESA agent at that cyber cafe and withdrew some money. He then returned to his dubious Facebook browsing. What’s more, the man later logged out as “Julie Gichuru” and logged in as “Maina Kageni!” He continued to withdraw money from the nearby MPESA at intervals during his browsing session.

Presumably the money he withdrew from MPESA was from some of the desperate women who he had told to send money in order for one of his fake celebrity profiles to land them a job.

How To Stop This Guy And Similar Conmen

From my analysis of the whole situation, the man in the story was exploiting a loophole in how celebrities market their Facebook profiles. Take for example Maina Kageni. He tells his listeners, “talk to me on my Facebook page,” and that’s it. What people then do is go to Facebook.com and search for “Maina Kageni.” A host of profiles come up in the search results, and only one is the legitimate Maina Kageni. However, Facebook has no way of verifying which profile is the real Maina, so it’s up to the users to guess which one. Some might end up clicking on a fake profile which a conman has set up, which leads them to a situation like the one I have narrated above.

Celebrities need to stop telling their fans just to look them on Facebook. What celebrities need to do is to tell their fans “My Facebook page is facebook.com/soandso” to make sure that people do not confuse them with the fake profiles.

You can also help stop this practice by sharing this story with your friends, so click the share button below and tell your Facebook or Twitter followers.

P-Unit’s Gabu just killed the first verse of ‘You Guy!’, no doubt

Ever since Nonini introduced P-Unit to the Kenyan music scene, they have provided the fans with hit after hit, and I really mean, hit after hit. Every track they make ends up as a huge club banger and the talk of the town. ‘You Guy’ is no exception.

Hardly a month has passed and ‘You Guy’ is already the talk of the city, already a hit, already a club banger. Collo is also featured in this hot track which is all about the ladies, the number one topic in men’s conversation.

One undeniable fact about this song is that Gabu has definitely killed the first verse of this track. The lyrics, flow and diction is just superb, especially the flow. You just can’t help but move your body to the beat when the first kick drops.

I’m not saying the rest of the artistes in this song did not impress. No, not at all. They were in-fact at their best, but come on, let’s face it… Gabu killed it on this one.

Listen to the track below.

Why Wawesh is The Biggest Producer Thus Far

You know him from his track Wawesh Ni Mjanja. Well, the Kenyan producer and hip hop artiste Robert Wawero aka Wawesh seems to be doing very well as far as music production is concerned. Sweden-based Wawesh is the latest producer to work with a musician from beyond the borders.

While on a press engagement in Nairobi, South African musician, Zaki Ibrahim met pioneering producer Wawesh and in just one recording session they had written a few songs intended for her current album Every Opposite. However, Wawesh’s prodigy comes out most in Zaki’s Go Widdit.

Zaki IbrahimGo Widdit is based on cross-cultural exchanges between artists from this continent adding to the world-wide buzz around 21st century African music. “There are a lot of exciting sounds and ideas making their way to the fore now. So much is happening within the continent alone and the major international players are now paying attention. The possibilities are endless,” said Wawesh.

Go Widdit, is currently topping charts in South Africa’s urban radio stations thanks to its a breezy call to action which is an enticing gesture to ride the tide and have fun doing it.

Starflix to Premiere Blockbuster Gangster Film

I was talking to a friend about film yesterday and she pointed out that Starflix is probably the only cinema chain in the country that is actually bringing in films that are not considered “safe.” By “safe”, I mean films that are sureshot blockbusters. For example: last week, they were the first in Africa to premiere Bob Marley’s documentary.

This week, Starflix premieres Savages. The Oliver Stone crime thriller that stars Taylor Kitsch (John Carter), Aaron Johnson (Kick A**), Salma Hayek (Grown Ups), Emile Hirsch (Alphadog), John Travolta (Face Off) and Demian Bichir (A Better World).

You might know Oliver Stone as the director of one the best war films of all time, Platoon, one of the best sports film of all time, Any Given Sunday, and one of the best gangster films of all time (and every rapper’s favourite film), Scarface. He goes back to doing a gangster film by directing Savages, an adaptation of Don Winslow’s book of the same name.

Check out the full schedule for Starflix Village Market between Friday, 14th September and Thursday, 20th September.

DNA in Court

Rapper DNA who burst into the music scene in a huge way with the release of his hit single “Banjuka” will on Monday appear in court in a case in which he sued a leading bank in the country for using parts of the track in their advertisement.

DNA seeks damages from the bank for overstepping on his patents. He also claims that the bank’s campaign which is youth-oriented borrows heavily from his song. Even the campaign’s title, DNA maintains, was inspired by name of the song.

The hip hop song skyrocketed to the top of the charts and was a major club favorite across the region hence the bank saw the opportunity to ride on its fame and success. DNA maintains that he is keen on following the matter to a satisfactory end because he greatly values his music career which everyone should respect.

Video: Nonini explains why he paid Conje’s rent

You do know that it is Nonini who started all these support for Conjestina Achieng after her suffering was made public, right? Yes, true mgenge he is indeed. If only our politicians had the same heart. Wait, Makadara MP Gedion Mbuvi ‘Sonko’ does!

Yesterday, a good number of artistes, politician and public figures gathered at the Tamasha Restaurant in Hurlingham to raise funds for our boxer heroine, Conjestina Achieng under the project titled #PamojaConje.

In this fund raising event last night, Nonini explained why he offered to pay four months’ rent for Conjestina. It is obvious that haters out there thought that Nonini did this as a publicity stunt. Well, it’s time for all you haters to shut up and take a look at the video below.

More sentimental music for the coming general elections

Things just got real. The fact that there are clashes already happening in Tana, just months before the general elections, is really putting everyone at edge. No one wants a repeat of what happened in 2008. No one. It is therefore an overwhelming feeling to see the youth engage themselves in activities that discourage that from happening again. Especially through music.

I am confident that a good number of the Kenyan citizens learned quite a lot from the PEV and that the majority are very much against it.

Through this, comes music that have given people the heart and courage to embrace the coming general elections without fear. This song in particular, titled ‘Mabadiliko ni sisi’, is a good example of the concept. No famous artistes, nor famous production houses, just the ‘raia’ giving out their piece.

Photo Gallery: Maia’s performance at Choices’ Thursday Night Live

Having shared the same stage with the likes of James Blunt, and performed at prestigious and honorable events like Sauti Za Busara and Tandawazi Festival, Maia Von Lekow is still as humble as the day she was born.

Known for her soul soothing angelic voice, Maia’s Afro Fusion music is favorite to many across Africa and abroad.

Maia yesterday performed at the weekly Thursday Night Live concert that takes place at Club Choices along Baricho Road.

Prezzo Snubs Haters

Local rumour mills have been rife with assertions that the self-proclaimed King of Bling and recently appointed ONE campaign ambassador, Prezzo will be using his position for his own benefit.

Well, Prezzo has refuted the claims terming them as unfounded. Prezzo was speaking to the media during his recent visit to Tanzania.  Prezzo instead declared that he would use the opportunity to fight the food insecurity menace in Africa.

“This is just a platform for me to voice what fellow Africans are going through; it is in no way a platform for fame gathering,” he said.

As part of his new status, the rapper will attend the concert of international hiphop super star, Jay-Z in US Later in the year.

All the best El Presidente.

Rabbit cancels Kisii concert after Club burns down

There are two ways we can look at this incident. It’s very unfortunate that Club Backyard in Kisii, where Rabbit was supposed to perform tomorrow courtesy of Q FM, burned down. Then again, it is very fortunate that the fire did not consume the club on the day of the concert (which would have been tomorrow, 14Th September 2012).

Whichever way we look at it, it is a very sad story indeed.

Rabbit and Q FM have now publicly cancelled the show but promise that the tour still goes on and Kisii will still have its moment with The Story Teller, Kaka Sungura.

K’Naan to head back to Somalia to motivate the kids

Even after Somalia has just concluded its first independent general elections, there is still a lot to be done for them to stay, or rather, come afloat. Much effort should especially be focused on the children. What better way to ensure a totally different and much more successful and peaceful future for the Somali people.

US based musician with Somali origin, K’Naan will be headed back to Somalia following a request by the Somalia Teachers’ community, to help the Somalia pupils gain confidence in themselves and be more proud of their country.

K’Naan will not be alone in this tour. He will be accompanied by Mohammed ‘Mo’ Farah, who is a Somali-born British international track and field athlete. Farah grabbed an Olympic medal and it is this kind of inspiration and motivation that the teachers are hoping will rub off the pupils and give them something to live for.

Take a look at how Jimmy Gait satisfied fans at a recent concert

Jimmy Gait has been around and about in more than cities than you can think of, delivering memorable performances in each. In most of the concerts he takes part in, fans just go crazy when he gets on stage and unleashes his very much danceable tunes.

Jimmy recently performed at the Niko Na Safaricom Meru Concert and the reception he got from the fans would make any other artiste scheduled to perform after him very nervous. From the looks of things, Jimmy should perform last at the concerts to avoid making the other guys look bad.

The fans clearly appreciated this one. Check it out.

Epic Musical to be Staged at the Storymoja Hay Festival

The Theatre Company presents Shungwaaya, an original Kenya Musical based on African Cultures, beliefs and taboos highlighting on the integrity of leadership, misuse of power and its influence on the unity of the society. It fuses modern performance techniques with traditional East African performance styles and the story is told through drama music and dance.

The event will take place at the Kenya National Museums amphitheatre on Sunday, 16th Sunday between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Shungwaaya is a mythical, musical theatre piece that tells the story of a community that faces the timeless challenges of individual greed, envy and lust as they struggle to form a society where people can live together harmoniously. The show is created through a mythical combination of the ancient cultures of East Africa, where a community is united, guided and tested by spiritual powers which are gifted to the people through chosen shamans or healers.

The play shows the initiation of a chosen one, Mwejuma, in the river, whom is handed the calabash which guards the ancestral spirits; a calabash which holds the powers of the spirits which protect and guide the community. During the performance, we experience wrestling contests to choose community leaders; rituals that cleanse families and households, and the downfall of greedy men which brings calamities to their families.

Young people fall in love and marry, betray and reconcile. The environment is an active character in the performance, being intricately connected with the community. The story is told through powerful songs, dances and dialogue in the languages of East Africa, and also uses the kanga which brings color and beauty into the piece.

Shungwaaya has been created collectively by the members of the Performance Training and Development Programme in 2012. Three groups created the short performances Leaving Shungwaaya, Kukicha and Mwiba, which have been combined through TTC’s unique style to form the piece you will see.

The current production features Liz Enane, Hilary Namanjia, Dembede Mido, Squich Musau, Sylvia Namusassi, Carolyn Mutua and John Wasonga with Izzo Anyanga on percussion. The choreography is done by Kitt Nyang’aya Kiarie and musical arrangments by Wafula Mukasa. The musical is directed by Keith Pearson.

Watch out Octopizzo! Mwakenya is catching up fast with his own clothing line

Ever since Mwakenya dropped his first hip hop track, it was obvious that he was after Octopizzo’s musical neck. The two are rivals musically (or so it would seem from Mwakenya’s lyrics) and also naturally (Kibera and Kawangware young’uns haven’t exactly been seeing eye to eye for the longest time now).

Although Octopizzo has never responded to this rivalry which I think is productive musically, Mwakenya has been on his grind and now, he is also setting up his own businesses.

Mwakenya has just launched his line of T-Shirts that bear the label ‘M#254‘ which is basically promoting, appreciating and celebrating our country, Kenya. Kinda like the 254 swag.

The M#254 cloths are now officially available for the public to purchase and done in the proud streets of Nairobi, where you can also get free delivery of the merchandise.

Check out some of the T-shirts below.
