Vera Sidika Has The Ultimate Socialite Accessory! (PHOTO)

Vera Sidika. I must say I love this lass. Her “devil-may-care” attitude, her love for freedom! This girl is a true blue anarchist! I swear I could marry this lass. She is beautiful and charismatic and an accidental avowed anarchist! That said, she is also a hot trending topic. She has actually changed the entertainment industry without realizing it!

Kinda like Paris Hilton. But that said, I now want to go into her accessory. The one accessory that has ushered her into the international socialites’ club. And no, it isn’t surgically enhanced mammary glands! They say pictures are worth 1000 words aye? Then check it out below:

Q FM’s Rashid Abdalla Writes Emotional Love Song for His Wife Lulu Hassan on their Wedding Anniversary

Four years ago yesterday, something very special happened.

One of the most celebrated radio personalities married one of the screen-sirens on Kenyan TV in a lavish ceremony. Ever since, their fans’ eyes have been upon them.

They’ve gone on to produce two of the most beautiful children to ever exist, and build an empire on their skills in TV and radio.

In their 4 years as husband and wife, Rashid Abdalla and Lulu Hassan have given hope that A-list marriages can last to a generation of pessimistic fans.

In celebration of their special day, here’s what Rashid wrote for Lulu;

You’re my rightful wife, I don’t fear sin,I don’t care not about those who like to reproach and irritate me.It is our destiny to be Together eternally.

In my heart you instilled love With grace and good deeds.
Happiness vanishes when you disappear,
Life brightens when you’re there.

Hard is my day Until you return home.
Sadness disappears When you smile.

No matter what did or will happen
You are and will be My Darling.

My Wife
You are and will be My Darling.

Life turns black When you’re upset,
So I work hard To make your wish come true.
You’re my happiness. May you be happy forever.
Our souls are united Like soil and plants.

You’re my hope, my peace My good company and inspiration.
Life is good, no matter how hard it is, When you’re fine.

You’re my hope, my peace My good company and inspiration.
Life is good, no matter how hard it is, When you’re fine.“

Kidero Bans Alcohol at This Weekend’s Rugby Tournament

In what has been seen by rugby enthusiasts as foul play, Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero has banned alcohol at the Kabeberi 7s rugby tournament set to take place this weekend.

In a press briefing held this afternoon at City Hall, Kidero slapped thrill seekers with the ban saying no one will be allowed in the stadium with alcohol, no one will be allowed to drink in their cars and alcoblow devices will be stationed around the pitch to check those drinking.

Kidero issued the directives on the consumption of alcohol during sporting events within the county adding that security will be provided during the event that will be held at Railways Club on August 2 to 3rd.

It will be remembered that recently Mututho called for the banning of Masaku 7s after terming the side-shows that characterized the rugby tournament as modern day “Sodom and Gomorrah”.

Photo of the Day: Larry Madowo & Jeff Koinange Bump into Each Other for the First Time after their “Beef”

A month or so back, award-winning TV show host, Jeff Koinange, apparently couldn’t pronounce Larry (long pause) Madowo’s name and so during the next episode of The Trend, Larry “retaliated”.

Some mediocre blogs took that as a beef between the two hosts with the most watched TV shows in Kenya. Anyway, Jeff and Larry bumped into each other at Kalasha Awards last week and this is how their meeting was like…

American Journalist Reveals What Kenyans Consider Beautiful (Photos)

What is beauty by Kenyan standards? Is it a yellow-yellow complexion, is it ruby red lips, eyelids glazed with eye shadow or is it stunning chocolate skin?

Kansas based Journalist Esther Honig sought to find out what was beautiful in different cultures. She brought together 40 artists – a mix of amateurs and professionals, paid them a small fee and asked them to photo shop her make-up free face into what they consider beautiful .

original-600x450.jpg

She told them to make her “beautiful.” And the results were remarkable, Moroccans considered a woman covered in a hijab with a face fully made up beautiful, people from the Philippines thought that flowing hair and red lipstick made a woman beautiful while Kenyans thought that blue-eye shadow was what made a woman beautiful

Honig found the resulting images “intriguing and insightful.”

Here are some un-retouched photos of her  and after her face got retouched to fit into different cultures standards of beauty

When Home Becomes Hell

Atlanta-based Kenyan rapper Danny Kay’s new music video has caused a lot of upheaval. It all started during the shoot of the video that left locals incensed leading to the intervention of the police officers thanks to the video concept.

Thereafter the release of the official video has in return not been received well by some people questioning who Candy n Candy are to touch on child molestation; they are just a “record label”. s

Responding to critics, Mr. Joe Kariuki says, “We are here to teach, to speak on behalf of those that have been affected and to create awareness on the matter.”

Statistics show that 94% of child rape victims under the age of 12 are abused by a family member or an acquaintance/friend. More than one in three children, who experience contact sexual abuse by an adult do not tell anyone else about it.

Here’s that;

Hopekid Embroiled In Confrontation With Sonford Management

Sometimes human kindness can sometimes be shocking in this cruel world we live in. A reliable eye-witness recently told me of one such incident -where those around were astounded and it involved none other than Hopekid. The young gospel artist was asked by some street kids who were apparently really young for some money.

The children claimed that they needed the money for food and rather than run the risk that they might use his money to buy glue (to sniff) or worse, Hopekid opted to buy them food himself. And he asked them to follow him to Sonford so he could get them something to eat. But there was a problem, Sonford do not serve street urchin.

The watchman flatly refused the street urchin access to the establishment. I think this is where the predicament exists though; I wouldn’t want to be eating my chicken or whatever it may be and have a street urchin walk in to eat next to me -and if you’re honest, you know the same applies for you too.

Anyway, the management also refused to admit the street kids but undeterred, Hopekid went to a different establishment. Hmmm… God bless his heart!

Sauti Sol Get The Entire Kiss 100 Team Dancing (VIDEO)

It would seem Pharrel inadvertently spark creativity worldwide with his “Happy” video, the ripples of which are yet to stop rocking the surface of humanity. Right on the heels of the video, Sauti Sol who were recently hacked have been have decided to make a video in similar mode.

And the group were at Kiss 100 earlier this morning where they got the entire team to dance to there new jam and I have a video of the entire scenario unfolding. I however feel the need to warn you against trying the same stunt as most of the people in this video are professionally trained to dance -horribly.

Drama as STL Exchanges Harsh Words with Club Promoter in Public Over Alcohol! (PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE)

So last evening, rapper STL was meant to perform at the Mojos Club as she promotes her new song – “Biashara” remix with Khaligraph Jones and Kristoff.

She went ahead to rant on her official Facebook fan-page telling her fans that she will be a no-show at the club pointing a blaming finger at the club’s promoter. In her words, Attention: There won’t be any #BIASHARA party at club mojos tonight. The promoter failed to follow the agreement. So I’ve cancelled it. Fuck it.”

STL 1

The club’s promoter, Hillary Ngash Kamau, who is also very active on social media happened to stumble on the post and immediately issued a rejoinder. And he didn’t mince his words as he told off the female rapper;

“Stella, do not lie to your fans, I’m aware of your preposterous demands. You demanded for two bottles of champagne, two bottles of Chivas Regal, and two bottles of Johnny black and transportation from your place of residence and back! Makes me wonder (1) Were you coming to perform or to indulge in binge drinking (2) An artiste of your caliber should at the minimum afford his/her own transportation! You are such a disgrace and a letdown with your chameleonistic behaviour! Anyways, we got Khaligraph set to perform. Shame on you!

STL 2

However, the confrontation didn’t end there.

STL posted another scathing update about the promoter and the club saying;

I’m all about Good service for a good BIASHARA promo performance. I don’t do freebies. I also don’t buy my own drink and cater for my own transport to my shows. It’s the promoter’s duty. It was in the contract. That’s why we sign contracts and work! BIASHARA is just BIASHARA. Talk is just cheap! En yes, I ordered for many drinks because I don’t come to shows alone. Promoters respect the artist.

STL 3

This time round, the gloves came off as Hillary decided to tell her off and informed her that they have previously hosted bigger artistes than her and have never had any problem.

Promoters are not meant to promote your drinking habits but your music and brand. One more lying word from you and I will post our email exchange here for all to see! Just shut up and let it slide. And for your info, Khaligraph and kristoff are now rocking the party. In other words biashara bado inaendelea. We’ve had numerous artistes bigger than you perform at mojos including Jaguar,TMK,Sauti Sol and none asked for transport or liquor. Not that we can’t afford it, its just that we refuse to stoop to your level of pettiness!

STL 4

And he was done as he went ahead to spill the beans;

“An hour before she was supposed to take the stage,She asked for a bottle of champagne which goes for 10,000kshs, two bottles of Chivas Regal for 6000kshs each and two bottles of johnny black for 6000kshs each, a total of 34,000kshs which was more than her agreed performance fee of 30,000kshs! She must be on drugs!

And Now Sarah Hassan’s Take On Vera Sidika’s Breast Implants

At just 25 or 26, Sarah Hassan never ceases to amaze us with how much she has done in such a short time!

Whether she’s acting, presenting on radio or TV— the rising star proves that we can all achieve what we want if we take a chance.

Sarah is not only ambitious but also a natural beauty with what guys call ‘curves for days’.

She recently gave her opinion on Vera’s new transformation and just like fellow actress Catherine Kamau, she thinks that its Vera’s life so she should do what she feels is good for her. Adding that she would not judge Vera for doing what is right for her since she has her own principles and Vera has her own principles

Retired Activist Boniface Mwangi Viciously Disses Vera Sidika after Breast Implants

In what is playing out like an episode of American television drama Nip/Tuck, Vera recently got some work done on her body and got some big boobies. This comes shortly after her skin lightening and booty implants.

This crazy transformation has also caught the eyes of activists like Boniface Mwangi who dismissed her as a joke and a bad role model.
She needs help, she does not love herself, and she is a bad example to young girls who think that they should go nude and get implants he went on to add.

“Who taught her to hate herself? Why does she have to hate herself so much that she has to change how she looks?”  He inquires.

Boniface was on a roll and was not pulling any punches adding that Vera would look like Michael Jackson when she grows old! He then went ahead to recommend that Vera should see a psychiatrist!

More Bongo Artistes Find Home in Kenya

Bongo singers have always considered Kenya their second home which explains why most of them do their music here and even find residence in the 254.

William Pius Murashany best known as Muras is the latest upcoming singer from Bongo to want to penetrate the Kenyan market.

Muras had recorded songs but never worked out and therefore his talent was never known or rather heard. In 2013 he met DJ Dizzo, a businessman and friend to EmptySoulz and Seductive Records who took him in and started nurturing his talent.

The singer met with super-producer, Touchez, the genius behind “Mziki Gani”, “Nakula Ujana” among others, and managed to record his single, “Mama Mkwe” and had the video done by award-winning director, Solomon Lamba.

For now, Muras and his record label have plans to record more hits.

TOP 5 RAPPERS IN KENYA

It’s about that time when  I take a keen look at the Kenyan Hip Hop scene and try to see whether there are guys bubbling or nah. And luckily, there are guys bubbling enough to get on my radar. The last time I told you about the rappers who are doing there thing and holding it down. After searching high and low, I think I can finally say I have a conclusive list.

I must say that while I wanted to include STL to the list, she got murdered on her own track so…

#5. Smallz Lethal

His performance in the track Ndizi Flow was electrifying. I just hope he’ll work on more material from now. But for the second quarter of 2014, he does it for me:

{youtube}bH0XELSSqOs{/youtube}

#4. Kristoff

the lad featured in STL’s Biashara Rmx and wouldn’t you know it, he managed to outshine the lass. And this is no mean feat given just how talented a rapper STL is.

{youtube}-7OcGS6sV8E{/youtube}

#3. Wangeci

Wangeci recently went on tour in Britain -London I believe. But not before blessing us with a body of work that kept her fans and I must say, the highlight for me was seeing her hold her own in a song that boasted HHP and Kaka Sungura:

{youtube}Ra2aRnWaomg{/youtube}

#2. Khaligraph Jones

Aye, the lad just had to feature here after he ate up STL and Kristoff when he featured alongside the pair in the remixed Biashara. He has also been consistently putting out an impressive body of work of late:

{youtube}XDty5suQEfk{/youtube}

#1. Taio Tripper

For those of you who only know songs because they are on telly, then you will not feel me on this one. But for those of you who genuinely like good music, then you know Taio Tripper launched his first solo effort called Man Made Machine. Which btw, you can download for free on waabeh.com

That said, I have listened to the mixtape and I enjoyed it immensely. Lad had me feeling like he might be Wale in the flesh what with the poetry he embodied.
He takes you on a musical journey with his musical effort feeling like a kaleidoscope without the confusion, but all the intensity and fun. You have to check it out to understand what I am talking about.

Ghafla Poll Result: Do You Think It’s Time For Kenyans To Censor The Content On Radio?

I said this yesterday. I said this the day before and I will say it again: Kenyans are hypocrites. We want to pretend to still espouse “traditional African values” but then go ahead to do the exact opposite. This would be a case in point. Classic FM’s Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’i are always cited for discussing “mature content” on air at a time when children are able to listen in -and this is why the society is rotten.

Maina and King’ang’i are also responsible for global warming right? They were also probably behind Boko Haram kidnapping Cameroon’s Deputy Prime Ministers wife!

Bleurgh! Anyway, yesterday I set a poll seeking to find out whether Kenyans feel the government should step in and censor Kenyan radio stations. Seems many people agree that we need to stop pretending our children do not know about sex nor do they engage in it. It is time for parents to stop passing on their responsibility (to raise good children) to everyone including radio presenters.

Anyway, this was the final tally:

Statistics:

HELL NO!
Votes: 26

YES! THE STUFF ON RADIO NEEDS TO BE CENSORED

31st July 2014: Ten Things You Need To Know This Morning

Top of the morning beautiful people, it’s a brave new world and it’s yours for the taking. That said, allow me to share something with you:

Out of the night that covers me,
      Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
      I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
      My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
      Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
      Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
      How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
      I am the captain of my soul.   -William Ernest

Jaguar Pledges to Support the Late Jastorina’s Sons

Last weekend the nation woke up to the sad news about the sudden and untimely death of TV comedy sweetheart, Nancy Nyambura better known as Jastorina after a long battle with meningitis at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

24 hours later, another tragedy struck.

It was double tragedy for the family of Jastorina when her mother died of shock upon learning of her daughter’s death. The ailing mother had been admitted at the Kijabe Mission Hospital. According to close family members Jastorina was the bread winner of the family and her ill-timed death only cast shadow on the future of her two sons.

However, singer, businessman and philanthropist, Jaguar has come to the aid of the family.

Anto-Neo Soul’s New Hit ‘Pepea’ Will Leave You Inspired

Pine Creek Records and vocal powerhouse Anto Neosoul are at it again this time releasing Anto’s brand new hit single Pepea.

Staying true to creating music standards in Kenya and beyond, Pine Creek records is determined to paint a canvas of musical excellence and this includes releasing a song every three months from its artistes.

Peter Nduati, CEO of Pine Creek Records and Resolution Health describes this as “the epitome of sheer music industry brilliance, where a label is interested in the artist and artistry.”

Pepea, produced by Jesse Bukindu who helped Anto in creating his first hit single Chips Funga, is a an upbeat inspirational song that will not only get you dancing but also inspired.

Anto remembers Pepea as the first song he ever wrote while he was still trying to figure out the music industry and working on his music skills. Pepea IS a moment and NOT a verb. It is about a renaissance. That moment when you think life has done you in but a hurricane of hope, faith and possibility hits you and you start to make strides in your life.

Pepea is a testimony. Many who you see prospering right now did not start off as super heroes. A successful person needs a testimony of where they came from, the dark trenches, when they had given up on life and questioned their existence and Anto is no stranger to this feeling.

anto_neo_soul.jpg

Anto reminisces when he was declined from joining the top 24 in Idols East and Southern Africa but that did not deter him from keeping the fire alive. This is why Pepea more than any other song in Anto’s debut album STARBORN is so personal. Like a Phoenix, we have to rise from the ashes, from the negativity, the hate, the rejection to be all that we can be and more.

Pepea is a song that inspires all going through a hard time to keep the fire alive and when we feel like the spark is gone, to huff, puff and puff again to ensure that fire never goes out like a candle in the wind. This song will get you dancing and inspired. Kenya is about to hear Anto Neosoul in a way they have never before.

Anto, now a Radio Presenter on Nation FM, continues to embark on his Barclays sponsored STAR BORNTOUR visiting Kisumu in August before heading to Dar es Salaam and thus will release the Pepea video in August when his schedule gets a bit free but it will be nothing short of spectacular.

Popular Nigerian Writer Shows Support for Vera Sidika’s Bleaching On an International Platform

Vera Sidika’s decision to lighten/bleach her skin was met with a lot of shock and wonder which transformed to severe backlash. Since then, Vera has been on the receiving end of a stream of vitriol thanks to her decision. In my opinion, I think most people are super pissed that she did not hide in shame like other people who have had this procedure done on their skin, instead she announced to all and sundry that she had shed off some melanin.

Anyhow there is a  writer by the name Sede Alonge  who writes for the Telegraph UK who thinks peoples should just get off Vera’s back
because “Not all African women believe ‘black is beautiful’. And that’s OK”

Sede Writes:

A bullish Sidika says she is proud of the way she looks and thinks African societies are hypocritical on this thorny issue. But her honesty roused the ire of many social media users across the continent.

Passions inevitably run high among Africans whenever someone brings into play racial issues. On the topic of skin whitening, emotionally charged slogans such as “black is beautiful” are often employed in an attempt to make women like Sidika feel as if they are somehow betraying their race. Such women are then accused of having inferiority complexes towards white people.

vera_cover.jpg

Adding that “I myself am a dark skinned Nigerian woman who does not use whitening creams or soaps, but I feel that while there are valid health concerns as to the side-effects of skin lightening products, it should remain an individual’s prerogative to be who or what they want to be.

Yes, black is beautiful, but so also is white, brown, yellow and the many shades in between.

vee_figure.jpg

“Skin lightening should not be automatically regarded as an individual’s outright rejection of their race. If a woman feels that lightening her skin will make her prettier or more confident, then society should let her be and not impose itself as judge and jury on her concept of beauty. It is high-time Africans stop being hysterical and overly-defensive about issues of their self worth and identity.”She concluded

Forget Twerking,Sauti Sol Introduce The Hottest Dance Yet!

Many thought that Sauti Sol wouldn’t produce a hit bigger than Still the One, but they proved the critics wrong by dropping Nishike and Sura Yako which are doing even better than their predecessor.

Along with Sura Yako comes a dance that will get even the ‘leftiest’ of left feet moving to the beat and shaking their waists like one of those Awilo Longomba dancers. The Dance is called ‘Lipala ’ which is a collaboration with the brilliant Sarakasi dancers.

I cannot dance to save my life and if the world’s saving depended on my dancing, it would probably just have burn but I will attempt this dance, because its a fun dance!I cant help myself…here is Lipala!
