How Our Insatiable Appetite for Alcohol and Nyama Choma Is Doing More Harm than Good

Anyone who has suffered from gout will tell you that it is a very painful experience. It is also very common especially among people who eat too much meat and drink alcohol, the popular nyamachoma culture in Kenya.

According to Dr Omondi Oyoo, Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at Aga Khan University Hospital, gout is a condition characterised by pain and swelling of joints resulting from high concentration of uric acid in the blood.

He explained, “In people with gout, instead of the uric acid being excreted through the kidneys into the urine, a disorder in their bodies causes the uric acid level to increase forming crystals which are deposited in joints and other tissues. These needle-like crystals trigger an immune response that produces intense local inflammation with severe pain, swelling and tenderness especially in the big toe.”

“Gout has been described as one of the most painful rheumatic diseases. When left untreated, the condition often worsens due to excess build-up of uric acid in joints. Attacks may subside after a few days, but over time theycan keep recurring and cause severe arthritis, permanent joint damage, and even kidney disease.”

“Most people suffering from gout often have a diet rich in purines which includes red meat, some alcohols (including beer), sardines, mussels, mackerel, kidney, liver, meat extracts and yeast. Genetic predisposition only account for ten per cent of the root cause of the problem.”

Because of the ‘nyamachoma’ culture in Kenya, gout is one of the fastest growing problems and the age group of patients suffering from this condition has come down from 40s to affect people as young as those in their 20s. Gout mainly affects men as women are protected by estrogen until they reach menopause then they become equally vulnerable. The disease is further complicated by hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.

Dr Oyoo

The most effective way to treat gout is by the correct use of prescribed medication and dietary modification. Dr Oyoo explains that this involves reducing intake of proteins, especially red meat to a plum size serving not more than three times per week. When uric acid levels are very high, foods rich in purines should be avoided completely.

“Increase the intake of foods rich in Vitamin C as they increase the excretion of uric acid and this helps to reduce the formation of crystals. These include citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines, mangoes and pineapples as well as grapes, apples and bananas.” Advices Dr Oyoo.

“More intake of Vitamin B complex is also recommended. Vitamin B boosts enzyme production and also breaks down the uric acid. It is important to consult a specialist to ascertain the best form of the complex for you and you should avoid over the counter supplements.”

Drinking plenty of non-alcoholic fluids is also recommended. These include water, fruit juices and tea. Take at least eight glasses of water per day. These fluids dilute the urine and promote excretion of uric acid through the continuous flushing of the kidneys.

For patients with high blood pressure (and those with a family history) it is important to regularly monitor uric acid levels as high levels of uric acid may cause the blood pressure to spiral out of control.

Other dietary measures for people prone to gout attacks include avoiding alcohol, eating a diet rich in carbohydrates and low in fat, maintaining ideal body weight, eating regular meals and not fasting.

The Rigging, The Fury And The Uproar… Chaos As People’s Choice Nganya Fails To Win Rongai Matatu Awards (Photos)

The illest nganya in Rongai failed to win Matatu of the Year award in the recently concluded Rongai Matatu Awards. And Rongaians are having none of it!!

Rongai-Nairobi route has the most pimped matatus in Kenya. Rongaians love to travel to diaspora in matatus that are literally mobile nightclubs, the loud music and disco lights etc.

Chaos erupted when Catalyst was announced the Best Matatu of the Year. The management of phantom gave back the certificate and prize money and disassociated themselves with the award.

Apparently Phantom is the people’s choice in Rongai. Claims of rigging followed after Catalyst was announced the winner.

The organizers of the event were faulted for being the architects of the alleged rigging. The blame has been laid on Political aspirant Mr. Abdisalam Hassan and Rufus Kamau aka Summy.

Mr. Hassan told Ghafla! he couldn’t have altered the results of the award explaining that he sponsored the event without favoritism on either side.

Ghafla! was given the results of Rongai Matatu Awards (by a person who wished to remain anonymous) which had not been tampered with:

During an episode of the Sporah show in early 2015, Victoria Kimani revealed that she had not dated anyone since she joined the music industry despite getting linked to A-listers like Victor Wanyama and Wizkid. 10 Things That Happen When A Married Woman Starts Having Sex With Another Man

First of all,let me defend the sisterhood by saying, many, many women don’t cheat. They don’t even think about it… Or spend days, like men, figuring it out in their heads.

But it’s 2016. Not 1916 anymore and women have become more liberated, more exposed and more vocal in their activities and even social – and romantic – interactions.

We even have most of them running for President or already running entire nations.

As the years have gone by,sexual promiscuity has become some sort of the norm with many marriages experiencing acute deterioration due to philandering ways and cheating and lack of loyalty.

It used to be men. It still is the men.

But now, women have let go of their inhibitions and are now stepping up the stage and even upstaging their own hubbies when it comes to maintaining a secret affair.

Men can conduct a secret affair for years and go unnoticed. But no man can beat a cheating woman.

They’re just expertly created to cheat ; you might never ever catch her or even suspect her for decades. Women can hide an affair with the efficiency of a trained Russian sleuth.

You would have to be real smart, real observant and real alert to catch your girl at the game.

But as we all know,in between his boys and his beers and his football games and his shoddiness and his endless boyish road trips,a man will never be settled enough to catch their wives cheating.

And that’s why we did this article – for you to catch her cheating while at the same time enjoying a beer,a game and a blowjob in a downtown strip club.

10 Things That Happen When A Married Woman Starts Having Sex With Another Man

1. She’s No Longer Needy
Before the affair, she used to be all over you needing your attention and also needing all sorts of things ; material and emotional. But after she’s found some other good d**k from some other dude, she suddenly becomes sort of independent. And doesn’t seem to be the desperate, needy wretch she used to be. She’s all good and quite OK all of a sudden. The neediness is gone.

2.No Longer Gets Mad At You
Women can get mad at your 24 Hours a day. And repeat the same thing the next day. And the next. And the next. But I’d she’s no longer mad at you,no longer going crazy over something you did,it might not be a very good sign. One day you wake up and she’s all happy and cool with anything you do or suggest. Doesn’t even blow up when you get home late. It could be a good thing to any man. But a dangerous thing to an unsuspecting man. Watch out.

3. Gets A Promotion
When she’s getting some good pounding out there, her career probably will improve significantly. Girl moves from junior assistant to manager to senior manager to Chief Operating Officer withing months. Or a couple years. Something’s definitely going on. Promotions don’t happen that fast. They don’t come that easy. It’s a promotion. Not a box of crayons. You either need a lot of hard work to earn one. Or to drop ’em pants for the Big Boss.

4. Becomes Way Too Nice To You
When she’s cheating, unlike men,a woman feels some deep sense of guilt. And is deeply convinced she’s doing something terribly wrong. Therefore,to cover up for the monster she has become, she becomes too nice all of a sudden. She even starts buying you little gifts and calling you nice names and becoming way too sweet and playing too nice to you. She’s making up for the witch she’s become. Don’t be fooled by the new pair of undies she’s bringing you every Tuesday.

5. Sudden Busy Schedules
Before the affair started, she wasn’t the busiest cat in town. Now, after she’s found some other pair of balls to suck and tickle, she becomes suddenly busy. She has all these meetings she’s attending and all these Sudden Chamas she joined and all these sudden work retreats. It’s a good thing to be busy. But a dangerous thing to be busy – doing the forbidden.

6. New Sexy Underwear
You will notice the new sexy lingerie she’s now buying – or bringing home. Every week, she’s going to be bringing home some extremely salacious undies and thongs and tiny panties. Red. White. Flowery. Tiny. Netty. Naughty. She’s definitely not buying all that for you, bro. Naah. Don’t be flattered. She’s pleasing someone else. Who clearly loves a new pair of panties per weekend.

7. Sudden Kinkiness and Nastiness In Bed
Before the affair, she was all lazy and clueless in bed and now,she has all these new tricks she wants you to try. You’ve never known her as the kinkiest and naughtiest in bed but now she’s coming home with all these new styles she wants you to try. She now wants to be spanked and touched on a certain way and she’s now even learned now to bend over and arch that booty up during the doggy style. She even has some sexy bedroom lingo you’ve never heard before. Someone’s definitely teaching her something. You just don’t wake up one day and become Pamela Anderson.

8. Uneasiness In Public
In public, she starts becoming uneasy and inattentive. Watch her eyes – she’s roaming her eyes and looking allover. She’s not mentally settled and doesn’t concentrate too much on what you’re saying. She probably is hoping and wishing that the man she’s secretly sleeping with doesn’t suddenly show up and go over to hug her. She seems to be too mentally engaged and even lost. Like I said, watch her eyes carefully. If they’re darting and restless,it’s about time

9. Increased Privacy
Unlike men, most women don’t bother with phone lock codes and PINs and patterns. They just leave their phones easily accessible by anyone. But if she has a new cryptic pattern on her phone. If her phone suddenly has a LOCK code or a PIN number you must apply to access it,then, the signs are not very good. Also, change of security patterns and lock codes too.

10. Paranoia
She starts becoming defensive and mad all at the same time. She treats everything you ask her as a trap and as a challenge and views you suspiciously and with trepidation. She’s paranoid and she has all these mental situations in her head… She starts a fight easily and keeps thinking you’re trying to trap or catch her. Her mood changes and her approach to issues is all too cautious and calculated. She keeps thinking you know about what she’s been up to. And therefore, she keeps creating walls and moods to ward off any unsavory discovery.

Kibaki’s Good-Looking Grandson Gives us a Glimpse of Kibaki’s Expansive 400 Million Kshs Mansion in Mweiga Nyeri (Photo)

As he headed for retirement after serving the country for a decade, former president Mwai Kibaki was given a Sh 400 million maisonette located in Mweiga.

But mzee was not ready to retire to the village just yet and preferred the hustle and bustle of the big city as opposed to the tranquility and fresh air the countryside offered.

Not even the GSU officers who provided security and the retinue of servants including gardeners and housekeepers to take care of him 24/7 could lure him to permanently settle into the mansion. The former president settled into the city and only visits the house once in a while.

People don’t know how  this expansive mansion looks like from inside the compound as journalists who attempted to enter and take pics were barred from entering without authority from the family and ex president.

But during a stopover in Mweiga, his grandson Sean Andrew decided give us a sneak-peek into the mansion’s compound.

President Uhuru’s Eldest Son Gives Narok Women A Million Shillings (Photos)

President Uhuru’s eldest son showed his philanthropic side when he visited Narok County in company of his sister and his younger brother.

Jomo Kenyatta and his siblings, Ngina and Muhoho visited Narok County a fortnight ago to attend a fundraiser in a church.

The First Kids were joined by Narok Governor Samuel Tanui at Nairage Enkare, Narok County to raise funds for Engape Women Group.

Jomo Kenyatta donated a whopping Kes 1 million to Narok women. A total of Kes 5 million was raised during the fundraiser.

It seems philanthropy runs deep in the blood of the Kenyattas; only last December Muhoho contributed a similar amount to Kenyatta National Hospital.

It’s sad to learn that the accident at a train station in Geneva robbed Akothee of her unborn twins.

Akothee was admitted to a hospital in Switzerland after she collapsed at a train station in Geneva on Monday.

The singer’s manager, Nelson, had yesterday confirmed Akothee was going to the theatre for surgery following the accident.

Nelson yesterday evening confirmed the bad news; Akothee’s twins didn’t make it. He told eDaily that Akothee was in a stable condition after coming out of the theatre.

Apparently doctors couldn’t save Akothee’s unborn babies after learning of their condition; they were forced to prioritize saving Akothee.

The condition of the twins was severe as Swiss doctors couldn’t feel the heartbeat of one of the babies even before Akothee went under the knife.

5 Popular Celebrities Who Got Engaged But Never Made To the Aisle (Photos)

Life is generally 50-50. You can get engaged and enjoy a life of romance or you can engaged and never make it to the aisle. That is just how life goes.

Sometimes, it can be very mortifying if you have to pick up the pieces of your relationship with your detractors gleefully watching. And unfortunately, some of the people on this list had to do that.

Without further ado, here is a list of celebrities who got engaged but didn’t make it to the aisle

1. Sally Mbilu and Willis Raburu

sallay_wuillis.jpg

We all ooh-d and aah-d as Sally Mbilu flaunted her brilliant blue Tanzanite engagement ring which Willis Raburu had coughed up about 100, 000 Kshs for.

Jealousy was certainly rife when Willis whisked her away to a stunning holiday in Dubai and images of the loved-up couple were plastered all over social media. But somewhere between 2015 an 2016, all was silent on the Willis-Sally front.

No envy-inducing photos and certainly no lovey-dovey messages. It was said that the two had split and detested the presence of each other, a rumor the two declined to address.

2. Debbie Sanaipei Ntimama and Michael Okwiri

debbie_ntimama_and_okwiri.jpg

The former Miss Tourism Kenya and daughter to veteran Politician William Ole Ntimama was engaged to Vice President – Corporate Communications & CSR | Airtel Africa, Michael Okwiri.

The upcoming nuptials promised glamour, glitz and exclusivity, but the 5 Million wedding did not go as planned.

According to The Star, the two came to an agreement and called off the expensive wedding.

“The couple came to the decision after lengthy discussions and decided to call off the wedding. Sanaipei’s increasing professional and business obligations outside the country and Mike’s continued commitments in the country led to the couples decision to call off the wedding but they continue to be close friends.”A source told the newspaper.

3. Anne Kiguta and Steve Ngunyi

kigut_and_steve.JPG

Steve and Anne were set to tie the knot in February 2014 but Anne Kiguta called off the wedding after she allegedly learnt of Steve’s philandering ways.

According to Nairobiwire, Steve bounced back from the scandal and got married and it’s clear that Miss Kiguta has moved on as she is now a mother of twins said to belong to Jomo Gecaga .

 4. Adelle Onyango and Dr. Christopher Obwaka

Adelle_and_chrisa.jpg

Dr. Chris proposed to the radio presenter and activist during her birthday dinner back in 2013. It was said that the couple had enjoyed a friendship of six years and started dating mid 2012 before they decided to take their relationship to a new level.

Unfortunately, the two broke up shortly amid sleazy claims after a very public relationship which we were all privy to thanks to Adelle’s countless social media posts. Chris got married in a big wedding ceremony about a year after the break-up and Adelle started seeing a new man whose identity is still a mystery till now.

5. Avril Nyambura Mwangi and Tinashe Leslie Mugadza

Avril-2and_k3s.jpg

The two were said to have met after Leslie was referred to her when he wanted to do a bit of venture capitalism in the entertainment industry. They had a back and forth for close to a month, got to know each other and that is when Leslie decided to venture into Avril’s life. Lucky for him Avril was impressed by his intelligence and they started dating.

They got engaged soon after which was a slap in the face for Team Mafisi members who had pinned after the sexy singer for ages. The wedding took a while and the delay was blamed on cultural issues since Avril is Kikuyu and Leslie was Zulu.

But during a recent interview with Mpasho, Avril revealed that they had decided to cool off on the relationship and pursue their own things.

Ebru TV Beauty Is An Exact Replica Of Her Mom. Lord,I’ve Never Seen Two People Look So Alike (Photos)

OK,I actually have seen two people look so alike. Like, super alike.

For instance,William Ruto and his sons. Or all of his kids. Even David Rudisha and his Papa.

Lakini Doreen Gatwiri has such a sort of uncanny semblance to her mother (yes, uncanny) that we have to take a second look. And sure,it’s Mommy and daughter not two sisters.

The gorgeous damsel, who hosts a Youth show on Ebru TV besides reading news, has now unleashed her Mama to the public – as if she wasn’t enough trouble by her own dazzling self.

And sure, the apple does really fall not very far from the tree as Mama Doreen is an absolute striking image of her daughter, the fabulous TV star.

We need to add that she’s a lawyer too. And a soon-to-be advocate of the high court too of that will help your jealousy levels shoot through the roof. Haha.

“This Is Not Pain I’d Wish on Anyone Ever.” The Trend’s Panelist Speaks of Her Extremely Painful and Never-Ending Battle with Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition that approximately 176 million women in the world suffer from.

Unfortunately not much is known about this debilitating condition with many describing it as extremely painful period pain or even heavy periods with most of the sufferers unaware of how serious this is. The condition is caused by the endometrium (inner epithelial layer) growing outside the uterus. It can grow on the pelvic peritoneum, on the ovaries, in the recto-vaginal septum, on the bladder, bowel and in extreme cases on the diaphragm and in the lungs.

Women who suffer from Endometriosis complain of painful sexual intercourse, nausea and vomiting, heavy bleeding, chronic cramps, fatigue, and can cause infertility.

Jambi Koikai who suffers from the condition is aiming to raise awareness for this condition but today the endo-warrior was suffering from terrible pain which she talked about on her IG.

Faya_mama.JPG

Good morning…what a terrible one for me. So leo my cramps decided to attack me early morning. I’ve cried, wailed, moaned, scream, writhed in pain. This is not pain I’d wish on anyone ever. I can’t eat anything cos I’m on a vomit and running stomach spree. I can feel the endometriosis lesions in my shoulder and praying and hoping they don’t move to my lungs, this is excruciating pain. Feels like a saw is cutting up my shoulder. My legs are numb and I can only sleep on my right side. My hot water bottle is my best friend. Hot flashes, serious heat wave. Now this pain needs a cure. Today has been terrible. I can’t do much and mum always feel sad seeing me in this state. Any mother would. I’m in pain. But this too shall pass. I thought of the women in rural areas who face this pain and agony. I thought of women in prison. I thought of young women in schools who have no idea what’s going on with their bodies. I thought of women in the workplace who would never be given days off. This is pain that paralyses you, makes you crawl and smell death. The many surgeries we have had to undergo are a testimony that we can overcome this monster. Help us find a cure. #endowarrior #endoqueen #endometriosisisreal #wecanfindacure

But getting Diamond to perform outside the boundaries of Tanzania, you have to be prepared to part with $ 40,000 (Kes 4 million.)

A breakdown by Diamond’s management explains what event organizers have to be prepared to do to get Chibu Dangote to perform at their gigs:

First of all the team is going to Include 10 people.

You will have to manage Local transport during our staying there, return Air transport and Accommodation for the whole team.

Diamond Platnumz Management.

With that said, how much did Kenyan event organizers spend to bring Diamond to Meru? Watanashati Classics parted with a cool Kes 5 million to bring Chibu Dangote to Meru.

Contrary to Diamond’s standard charge of $ 40,000 (Kes 4 million.), the Tanzanian singer had to charge an extra one million shillings because the gig was far away in Meru.

Ghafla! contacted one of the directors at Watanashati Classics (wanted to remain anonymous) who confided in us that they spent Kes 5 million to bring Diamond to Meru.

In an interview with E!TV, Diamond revealed he was worth a whopping $ 4 million (Kes 405 million). With the amount he charges to perform and all those brand endorsements, surely Diamond is worth more than 405 million shillings.

Dr Ofweneke Explains Why He Decided To Propose To His Fiancée While They Were Both Naked

“I proposed Naked” was the statement Dr Ofweneke said that had the whole office burst into fits of laughter.

Dr Ofweneke revealed that the reason he decided to propose to his lady in this unconventional way was that he wanted to make his proposal unique and unforgettable.

“It was the best most unique way.” He said describing his proposal before adding” Everybody is busy doing flowers, people are doing helicopters while others are doing hotels. That’s cliché. It’s been done. Actually I had an idea, I was going to propose on the KICC helipad, arrange a table and bring Sauti Sol, or Hart the band.

So instead I thought of doing something memorable so I bought a very expensive ring, if your woman is worth it whatever you spend on her your will never feel it.”

dr_ofwenke.JPG

He then went on to add that after buying the ring, he had to come up with a way of proposing. So he woke up the following morning, created an argument and they both went into the shower, arguing feverishly. “Both of us were naked and still arguing. When she soaped her face, her eyes closed when she was bending and washing her face I rushed off to grab a ring then I proposed. She slapped me then said ‘yes’ ” he said.

Police Accord Diamond Four Chase Cars as He Touches Down and I was There to Experience it All. This Guy is the True Definition of a Superstar!

One hell of a weekend that was! How was yours? If you were in Meru like me, then you know it was a blast. All of Nairobi was there with their sleazy swag, balling capabilities and their hot sassy chicks who always know how to throw a major showdown.

The man of the show this weekend was the main man himself, Chibu Dangote aka Simba aka Diamond Platnumz who arrived in a chopper and upon arrival he was accorded an entourage consisting of four police chase cars. And daamn did he pull off one hell of a performance making our Kenyan artists look like a joke. The guy performed for a whole two hours and he had to be bundled out of stage by the organizers much to the disarray of the revelers.

All this however wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for Betin.co.ke who came through for me at the last minute. Have you ever had of Virtual betting? That stuff is just the truth especially the horse racing segment.

When I learnt by boy was not refunding my money which I had banked on taking me to Meru, I decided to play some virtual racing in an attempt to calm myself down and forget my sorrow. And that’s when my life events took a different turn because after two hours of playing, I managed to win myself a whooping 8K.

Now trust me that was one hell of a turn around. I just hollad at my peeps, my girl and it was definitely going down!

“They Can Keep Their Country, I Will Keep My Sexuality.” Openly Homosexual Gospel Artiste Gripes after Being Denied a Canadian Visa

I guess he won’t be seeing the land of ice hockey and maple leaves soon, unless someone intervenes.

Popular Gospel artiste Joji Baro is grumbling about Canada refusing him a visa because they fear that he may not come back to our country once he is in Canada.

In a Facebook post, Joji wrote:

Canada have just denied me visa on grounds that I’m likely not to come back because I failed to prove my family ties in Kenya and in Canada. I’m not surprised cause how am I supposed to prove I have a family connection with those that rejected me over five years ago? Two, since when did I have family ties in Canada? Do they really go through visa application at all? I doubt! What else do you expect from a country that is not ruled by a President… Huh? That is how Canada has been treating LGBTI activists from Africa and Asia for a very long time now. They can keep their country, I will keep my sexuality.

Joji_Bar.jpg

But this is not the first time a member of the LGBTIQ has been denied a Canadian Visa as a gay Kenyan activist Dennis Nzioka revealed.

“Canada, and particularly, their Kenyan Visa system, has historically denied Kenyan LGBTIQ activists Visas even for short stays despite proof of return. It goes way back almost 10 years ago when one lesbian activist was denied on the same flimsy grounds.” Dennis wrote consoling Joji who chimed in with “ Oh my God so I’m not the only one! This country why do they win big to host conferences in the first place… Smh. I feel horrible.”

Diamond Spends Sunday Night In An Apartment In Nairobi After Getting Stranded At JKIA

He was booked at the opulent Tribe hotel when he touched down. But a mix-up in Diamond’s departure saw him spend Sunday night in an apartment in Nairobi.

Diamond was slated to leave Kenya on Sunday night after his show in Meru, but apparently the promoter had booked him a flight on Monday.

Nairobi News reports that Chibu Dangote only discovered his flight was on Monday and not Sunday night when he arrived at JKIA from Meru ready to board a plane out of Kenya.

The singer and his entourage were forced to go back to Tribe hotel to book a room to spend the night. But to their surprise, the posh hotel was fully booked.

The 35 heads of state and thousands of other delegates attending the sixth International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) Summit, had booked all high-end hotels in the city.

Diamond and his boys were forced to do away with their VVIP status and scavenge for a ‘decent’ place to put their heads to rest.

Baba Tiffah settled for an apartment where he spent Sunday night with his team. The singer was slated to fly to Los Angeles, US where he was to shoot a video for his collabo with Ne-Yo.

KFCB’s Ezekiel Mutua Cracks The Whip On Singer Kaz And Actress Nini Wacera’s Open Lesbianism

“It is important to note that lesbianism is prohibited by the laws of Kenya. Article 45 of the Constitution defines marriage as a union between two people of the opposite sex.” Ezekiel Mutua.

Sometimes in April this year, actress Nini Wacera and Kaz announced the launch of a show that was giving lesbians the platform to interact and share their experiences.

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) didn’t pick the smell of Kaz and Nini’s show until yesterday. KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua woke up from his slumber to crack the whip on Kaz and Nini’s open lesbianism.

The no-nonsense Mutua revealed KFCB had launched a probe to establish whether the ‘The Spread Podcast’ ever aired on WGN TV.

He also warned producers against distributing content meant for public consumption without getting the green light from KFCB.

Below is what Ezekiel Mutua posted on Facebook:

Our attention has been drawn to a blog news highlight being shared online about an alleged ‘first lesbian TV show hosted by two popular lesbian celebrities’. ‘The Spread Podcast’ programme, reported on the http://kentv.biz website on 14th April, 2016 was allegedly scheduled to go on air as from 15th April this year on WGN TV.

While the Board is carrying out investigations to establish whether the programme was ever produced and whether the regulations guiding content production and distribution of film content meant for public exhibition were followed, the Board has established that the production was set to be distributed on WGNTV, a global video on demand service with a presence in Kenya’s cyber space.

If investigations reveal contraventions of established regulations, KFCB will take a firm action against the producers and distributors of the programme in line with the law.

The Board takes this opportunity to warn producers that it is against Section 4 of the Film and Stage Plays Act to engage in the production and distribution of film content meant for public exhibition/sale without obtaining a filming from the Kenya Film Classification Board.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that lesbianism is prohibited by the laws of Kenya. Article 45 of the Constitution defines marriage as a union between two people of the opposite sex.

Further section 162 to 165 of the Penal Code criminalizes homosexual behavior with a penalty of 5 to 14 years of imprisonment. Section 181 of the Code explicitly prohibits the distribution and exhibition of indecent content, attracting a penalty of a two-year prison term for offenders.

We take this opportunity to thank members of the public for bringing the matter to our attention. The Board will issue a comprehensive statement on the matter once investigations are complete.

Maasai Elders Refuse To Perform Cleansing Ceremony For Delamere Family Even As Tom Cholmondeley Is Buried In An Invites Only Ceremony

African science is real! Delamere kin risk a permanent curse from Maasai elders if they fail to abide by a compensation agreement that had been struck earlier.

Tom Cholmondeley was buried last Friday at the family’ Soysambu ranch in Naivasha. Daily Nation reports that Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Gilgil MP Mathenge Ndiritu and former Attorney General Charles Njonjo were in attendance.

Delamere kin had earlier struck a deal with Maasai elders to reverse a spell that was cast upon them when Tom Cholmondeley shot and killed Samson Ole Sisina, Kenya Wildlife Service Ranger, at his Soysambu ranch.

The terms of the agreement between the Delameres and Maasai elders included; 49 heads of Sahiwal cows, white and light red in color, for Ole Sisina’s family, a 27-acre parcel of land from their ranch and a five-bedroom house for the family, and payment of school fees for Ole Sisina’s 8 children upto the tertiary level.

Even though the Delameres had agreed to meet the terms and conditions demanded by the Maasai Council of elders, the latter has refused to reverse the spell until the former fully adheres to the compensation agreement.

The Maasai elders claim the curse cast upon Delamere family would affect them for generations if it is not reversed.

NOCK has been blamed for all the misfortunes that befell Team Kenya. Police have been arresting NOCK official after it emerged that they carried their families, friends, and lovers to Rio.

Apparently NOCK officials gave their loved ones a special treat at the expense of Kenyan athletes who barely surviving in Rio.

While all the blame has squarely been laid on NOCK officials, Mohammed Ali begs to differ. He dragged the President’s kids into the scandal saying NOCK officials were only emulating what State House does/did.

Moha was referring to a case where Ngina, Muhoho and Jomo Kenyatta accompanied their mother to a conference abroad when their presence there was not necessarily needed.

The KTN journalist termed NOCK scandal as ‘Fuata Nyayo Philosophy’.

Forget Meru, Diamond Platinumz Has Always Been The Omnipotent Lord Of Stage Performances And It’s high Time Kenyan Artistes Took Serious Lessons From Him

Technical skill, originality, and style always come into question when considering the dopest artistes, but the increasingly important live show is sometimes left out of the discussion. A great live show, however, always helps pave the way to stardom, and with the fact that we Africans don’t really buy music, concerts are important for securing a loyal fan-base, an invaluable means of winning new fans, and a way to make money without having to release countless albums that sell fewer copies than the artiste’s IQ score. .

This past weekend, Diamond Platinumz had a concert in Meru where he gave a performance for the history books, It’s safe to say that Mr. Chibu Dangote has superseded his bongo king status, and become one of the most successful African artistes artists of all time. He has achieved it all. He is at a point where he can afford to just relax and even perform for 45 minutes but he doesn’t do that. He still gives his best and goes on for hours.

But I am surprised that people took this long to realize how good Diamond is on stage. What he did in Meru isn’t something new. It’s simply what he does. No Kenyan artiste at the moment can safely say that they are a gifted performer. They all just try. Some are ever too eager to finish so that they can roll away with groupies or go home to sleep. No one really dies for the mic like Diamond does.

All the world’s musical legends were gods on stage. I am talking Elvis, Presley, the Beatles, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Tupac. I don’t understand why Kenyan artistes never realize this fact and improve on their delivery.

When it comes to good music, so much extends beyond the record itself. Musicians aren’t simply selling their music to passionate fans. They’re satisfying and adding to an entire culture, each time they take the stage.

Lyrics projected into a microphone can inspire both a cult following and a devout group of enemies. Each word polarizes people into becoming lovers or haters, ensuring everyone at the show is either with or against them.

While other artistes are struggling to figure out why they aren’t conquering the African market, Diamond has it all wrapped up. He not only releases the hits, but he also makes sure everyone that buy a ticket to his show get value for their money.

Ever since he broke out, he has been a singer who can hardly contain his excitement on stage, spreading positive energy as infectious as the live music itself. His dedication reinforces the fact he is unlike anyone else at his level. The constant fluctuation between planned songs, the rhythmic freestyle and his odes to the audience ensure that every concert is a journey, not just an appearance

Diamond’s arenas are packed with people who know the words to every song. That is proof enough of greatness.  If you ask 20 people who have been to the Tanzanian crooner’s concert what they thought of it, you’re likely to get 20 different answers, ranging from “amazing” to “unbelievable” to “one of the livest shows they’ve seen this year  So when you’re at a Diamond show, it’s mostly about him as a character, cooking the crowd up into a state of based hysteria and spreading his message of love and positivity. At times, it’s a little difficult to decipher if you’re at a concert or watching live performance art, but either way it’s hard not to have a good time, especially when the lady next to you is screaming and dancing  like she’s possessed

While many Kenyan artistes huff and puff, the WCB head never seems to break a seat. At peak powers, he is a force of nature. His animated delivery and rapid fire flow turn music into a physical spectacle, the sort of feat you imagine requiring hours of not only practice, but physical training. His catalog–full of annual hits that detail his evolution and longevity–provides the perfect material for Diamond to flex his superhuman singing ability.

The Meru show did indeed prove to us that Diamond truly delvers. But there have been many other equally great shows. It’s only that this one had hype to it after the media tug of war between Citizen TV and KTN. It’s still good that people got to realize that we possible have a future legend amongst us.

The Girls, The Celebs, The Dancing And The Booze… Mad Love For Kenzo As He Makes A Major Comeback (Photos)

The girls came in droves making a statement with their sleazy outfits that indeed Kenzo was about to make a major comeback.

Kenzo Matata is the singer who brought us the hit ‘Mama Milka’ among other songs. He had taken a sabbatical but now he’s back in the game.

Last Saturday Kenzo officially reintroduced himself back in music with a gig at Aqua Blue Lounge. He was launching his new song dubbed ‘Maintenance’.

Avril, Wyre, Calvo Mistari, Rapdamu, Kush Tracey, Vivian, Obinna, Kendi, Shaniqwa, Didge etc were some of big shots that were at Aqua Blue Lounge.

It was as if the gig was only open for chicks because they heavily outnumbered dudes in the ratio of 3 to 1. And they all dressed to impress.

Kenzo was shown mad love as he performed his song but his moment came when he sang ‘Maintenance’ which by the looks of things is on its way to top the charts.

See how things went down at Aqua Blue Lounge in the gallery below:

As KTN And Citizen TV Were Fighting Over Him,This Is What Diamond Platnumz Did In Meru That Got Him Crowned ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ (Photos)

Last Saturday, all roads led to Meru for what can now be easily classified as the biggest concert of 2016. Much better than anything you’ve attended since January – and definitely much more memorable.

It was the much-hyped Diamond Platnumz concert in Meru that saw two media houses nastily lunge at each other’s necks over bragging and exclusivity rights.

Scared of Citizen TV’s ruthless dominance of the airwaves,KTN fired off a stern warning letter to the Royal Media guys warning him against hosting Diamond or broadcasting any interview of him on their channel.

Standard Group, apparently, were the official media partners of the Diamond event and there’s no way they were going to let the notoriously popular guys from Communication Centre,Hurlingham hog the limelight and state a coup right under their noses.

Working with a very shrewd and no-nonsense lawyer,Citizen TV was scared stiff and they had to immediately shelve any plans of hosting the King of Bongo. Even an earlier-recorded interview of Diamond with Lulu Hassan had to be scraped at the last minute as Lulu ruefully announced on air that she wouldn’t be airing the much-anticipated for sit-down after all.

It was a weekend of much drama and adrenaline… Caused by who has slowly become a true African living legend,Diamond Platnumz aka Chibu Dangote

He did air on the popular Betty Kyalo news show, finally. But after a very stiff legal war had been fought – and bloodily won – behind the scenes.

What makes two otherwise-genial media houses almost go to war over a simple musician, you might ask.

Well, here’s why Diamond Platnumz is worth fighting over. Literally.

I drove for six straight hours from Nairobi to Meru. Yes,SIX.

Meru is far. Not a little far. It’s just FAR.

The traffic from Juja to Thika was absolutely insane. It literally ground to a halt as there was absolutely no freaking movement for over an hour and a half.

We just sat in the car and even turned it off. It made no sense leaving your engine running for over an hour of no goddam movement.

Things did clear up though and it was a smooth ride until around some place called Kambiti… Just past Keno where again, things became monstrous.

There was a minor accident for every ten kilometers across the whole stretch.

And as we maneuvered some mess that had been caused by an apparently-stupid accident, that saw one saloon car swept off the road and perched on a little Hill,we noticed a black sports car that had either broken down or just knocked down.

We saw some guys trying to fix it. And as one of the guys arise to love around the car and check it out,we realized who it was ; Colonel Mustafa, the Ogopa DJ’s rapper formerly of Deux Vultures.

We hooted and hollered ‘Mustafa’. And drove off.

Rest of the journey was drama-free. Thank Goodness.

We flew past Mwea and past Embu and past Runyenjes and past Chuka and past Igoji and past Chogoria and past Tharaka and past Nkubu without  making even the slightest stopover.

We were hungry as f**k and terribly needed to pee. Or take a couple pics. But no,everything had to wait. You don’t want to drive to Meru in the night.

The distance from Chuka to Meru is one of the most dangerous roads ever invented – it’s a whole steep stretch if Hills and valleys and corners and bends and bridges and rivers and hills and dangers and also the road that features the notorious national black spot – Nithi Bridge.

We didn’t want to die. Didn’t want to plunge into a river and definitely didn’t want the darkness to catch up with us before we’d made our way around those demonic curves and bends.

And then I saw a huge – and very scary – billboard horrifically written ;

DANGER! YOU MUST SLOW DOWN! THIS IS THE NITHI BLACK SPOT. YOU MUST SLOW DOWN. YOU MUST SLOW THE FUCK DOWN! YOU MUST! DANGER!

Man! I’ve never been that scared if driving. Ever.

“Cabu Gah slow down aki. Twende na speed ya 30. Ama hata 20. Please please! ” Martin Oduor, one of Ghafla writers fearfully implored me.

I’ve never driven that slowly. Ever. Waaaaah.

The Nithi Bridge has killed more people in history than the entire regimes of Idi Amin and Slobodan Milosevic combined.

Yeeeaaaayyyy. We’re in Meru! Finally!

The traffic from Meru town to Meru Polytechnic University was absolutely insane. Just freaking terrible. It took us a while 45 minutes to cover a 10-minute stretch.

There were cars and cars and cars and cars from Meru town to infinity. Hundreds of mathaskanking cars.

First,we stopped pulled over at Makutano to book a room where we’d retire after the long night ahead of us. We found perfect rooms and booked.

It’s now time to PAAAARRRRTYYYYY.

“Huku parking imenjaa mbratha… Huwesi park ndani… “a soldier manning the Meru Polytechnic gate says to me in a very distinctive Meru accent.

“Imenjaa. Hata mutu haoni mwiso wa mangari… ” he added.
I had to park across the college… Next to hundreds of other cars. I hate parking in the open. Sucks.

The queue leading to the venue is terribly long. Starts from here to Massachusetts,America.

I call Keyfar, one of the Watanashati Crew members (the guys who brought Diamond to Kenya) and ask him to kindly pick me at the gate.

Keyfar takes sixteen years before showing up. He’s busier than sixteen bees in sixteen honey farms.

“Simama huko! Kama hauna ticket simama huko! ” some rude-as-hell female cop us yelling at everyone.

” Na kama hauna pesa enda ukalale. If you have no money go warm your bed! ” another male cop yells.

Fuckin assholes.

The crowd around the gate has ballooned. It’s commotion allover… Crowds and crowds are bulging around the gate, crashing into each other, piling over each other. It’s almost becoming a stampede.

Keyfar comes over. He calls me,picks me up and ushers me on.

“Huyu ni Cabu Gah… Ghafla… Cabu Gah Ghafla…. Cabu Gah Ghafla…. ” he keeps repeating at every security point.

I’m feeling like I could address the nation. Haha.

Inside, the action has started. There’s dozens of dancers and artists curtain raising on the stage with a local MC trying his best to liven up the crowd.

It’s cold AF.

We walk over to the VIP gate. I want to walk in but some huge security dude insists on seeing my tickets and asking me some bloody fool maswali.

I. Am. Cabu. Gah. Bitch.

We walk in to the VIP section drama free.

It’s around 11pm. I walk over and buy some five Tusker Cans. Marto doesn’t drink. Awww. I buy my girl some ka-drink I can’t recall the name.

And then we sit through a grueling 3-hour curtain-raising marathon and at around 1.30am,Jalang’o and Fred Omondi walk onto the stage.

Crowd goes wild. Jalang’o hypes up the masses like the true hyping legend he undoubtedly is.

We are sweating like a maafaka. The cold is gone!

An hour later,it’s time for the Kenyan King of Pop….. Namelessssssssssssssssss!

Jeezuz Christ I love me some Nameless. He’s so classy. So legendary. Such a freaking star. So sexy. So big. So evergreen. So beloved. He’s the greatest and the bestest Kenyan will ever have.

Nameless tears up the place. Dancing his life away and almost wrecking the stage.

Hit after hit after hit,Nameless is a King in every sense of the word. Pure musical royalty.

And noooowwww…. Without further ado,put your hands together for the President of Wasafi Diamond Platnuuuuummmmzzzz!

Oh. My. God.

Crowds goes bonkers. Girls lose themselves. Crowds invade the VIP section. Girls are screaming and yelling themselves lame. The whole field descends into lawlessness and it almost becomes a maddening rampage. The people are roaring and clapping insanely. It’s a total mad house. All in the name of Diamond.

I see three police chase cars drive into the backstage… And then I see some three male dancers jump on to the stage…. And then I see the legend himself, Diamond Platnumz jump into the stage. Clad in a white top with a black sweatshirt underneath it,white sports shoes, two pure gold chains, two pure gold bracelets,a sparkling gold watch,round-framed glasses,a Michael Jackson-esque Fedora hat and a crisply-ironed black blazer.

A star has just steeped on stage! Meru goes insane!

I’ve never heard such loud screams my whole life. I’ve never been pushed around and shoved aside that much. I’ve Ber seen the kind of hysteria and mass madness that I witnessed.
The shouts were deafening. It was like a desperate scene from an Apocalyptic movie.

meru11diamc.jpg

Like the true superstar he is,Diamond tore through a frenzied marathon of all of his best hits. From Mbagala to Lala Salama to the oldest of his songs.

Everyone is singing along. Word by word by word.

And then after six songs,Diamond removes his sunglasses and asks,

“Tuendelee and tuende tukalale? ” crowd yells” TUENDELEEEEE! “

He throws his sunglasses to the ground, chucks off the Blazer and screams,

” Haaaya! Wacha show ianze sasa! “

Crowds goes wild. Like, super wild.

After another six songs, the swaggering African superstar says

” Tuko hapa mpaka asubui. Siendi kulala mimi. Nacheza ngoma zangu zote. Hata mchana ikitupata hapa mie sina shida… Sitoki Meru mimi! “

Crowd roars. Girls scream. Everyone has their smartphone out… Recording this unforgettable moment of history.

meru22diamd.jpg

This is Diamond fu**in Platnumz. He’s the KING!!!!

” Usiniulize kwa nini…. sababu utanizingua…. ” He croons…

” Wangari wanataka kulewa? ” he yells to the supercharged crowd.

All hell breaks loose! Oh. My. Freaking. God.

meru44dia90.jpg

He then launches into ‘Ukimwona’ and then ‘Mdogo Mdogo’ and then ‘Kesho’ a song then ‘Nasema Nawe’ and then ‘Make Me Sing’ and then ‘Utanipenda’ and then ‘Ntampata Wapi’ and he goes on and on and on…

It’s been two hours since Diamond stepped on the stage. And he’s still on the stage. It’s 4. 30am in the morning. And Diamond has no plans of going anywhere.

“Baby Oh Nanaaa…. ” he starts.

My. Goodness.

He’s sweating and panting and still dancing.

This dude is super human. A goddam power machine.

All hail King Diamond. Born

meru55jdiamd.jpg

By the time he’s performing ‘Number One…’ and ‘Zigo…’ if you’ve ever had any doubt who this man is,your doubts were cleared that day.

Never have I ever seen a musician perform the kind of incredible musical miracles I saw with Diamond.

He was born Naseeb Abdul Juma. He will die an icon,a supernova that will forever be remembered. And ever and ever.

Amen.

This Is Why Diamond’s Interview With Lulu Hassan Was ‘Banned’ On Citizen TV

Lulu Hassan interviewed Diamond Platnumz but unfortunately the interview was blocked from airing on Citizen TV.

Diamond touched in Nairobi on Thursday ahead of his concert in Meru on Saturday night. But before he flew to the miraa capital, he had several interviews with media personalities.

Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan was among the luckily few that had the privilege of interviewing the Tanzanian superstar. Diamond was also to make an appearance on 10 Over 10 which didn’t happen.

But unfortunately Diamond didn’t make it to Citizen TV on Friday night. Standard Media Group who were the official partners of Diamond’s gig in Meru, blocked Diamond the Tanzanian from going to Citizen TV.

Apparently the agreement between Radio Maisha and Watanashati organizers (who partnered with SG for Diamond’s gig in Meru) gave Standard Group exclusive rights on marketing and media coverage of Diamond in Kenya for the Meru concert.

After learning of Citizen TV’s intention with Diamond, Standard Group through their lawyer wrote to the organizers of Diamond’s concert in Meru reminding them of the dire consequences of breaching their media sponsorship agreement.

“It has been brought to our client’s attention that the artiste Diamond Platinumz, who constitutes the object in the media sponsorship agreement with our client, is scheduled to appear on Citizen Television from 10pm on 26,08,2016. This appearance shall be in direct breach of the Media sponsorship agreement to which you are bound. Our client has incurred considerable expense in marketing and availing publicity for the concert contemplated under its agreement. We have instructions to take appropriate legal action against you to vindicate our client’s rights under the agreement without any further notice or reference to you.” The letter by SG read.
