Check out the latest cypher in town

At the rate that cyphers are coming out these days, its just a matter of time before every other rapper makes it a priority. There’s nothing to complain about though, since all the cyphers coming out of Kenya are actually really good.

This cypher right here titled ‘Crush Groove Cypher 666’ is really lyrically cirtified. You may not know some of the rappers that drop bars here, but you will definitely love their flow and delivery. They have that touch that all ill rappers have, and it’s all in the delivery of the lyrics.

Well, this cyphers hasa two of the recently broken up rap group, Coolagang, namely Coolkid (Taffie) and GNX (Kevin Grants). The other rappers in the Crush Groove Cypher 666 are Bilari (from Weusi Familia), Q and Mwakenya.

Apart from the rappers, the other interesting thing that I’m sure will impress you is the deejay’s skill on the decks.

Check out the video below.

Touching: Eric Wainaina gives us yet another passionate and uplifting song (video)

Eric Wainaina has always had a way of reaching deep into the hearts and souls of his listeners, impacting on our thoughts and entire lives. Eric Wainaina’s music is the type that will leave you thinking for a while, but in a relaxed state of mind.

Always uplifting listeners’ spirit and hopes even when there seems to be non. How many Kenyan songs can you gain strength from by just listening to them? I’ll tell you this up front, not much! Sadly, we are all about partying and all the epic times (which is okay by the way),but at times it just helps a lot to have artistes like this who can take us back in time and show us exactly what we have been through and remind us that we need to avoid the same road we took at that time.

That is what his new song, ‘Rain on you’ is all about. Eric’s smooth voice brings out the emotions that this song will derive from you, whether you like it or not. You just can’t help but feel privileged and blessed to be alive and well at this very moment. With all that is going on at these times, music like this could be a necessity. Something to keep the little hope left alive.

The video too, is one to bring tears to your eyes. I especially love the ending of the video. The sadder photos are replaced by those of happy moments and triumph.

You just have to see this for yourself. Check out the song below.

US-based Kenyan Artistes Tell the Story of a Kenyan Politician

One Kenya is a collaboration of Karisan Media Productions teaming up with Anne Wachera, Christine Mumbi, Njeri Kariuki and Frank Nderi from Dallas, Texas, and the legendary Mercy Myra from from Atlanta, Georgia.

The creation of the song was intended to bring diaspora vocalists together in show of unity and harmony relating to the outcry for better leadership and governance in their beloved country, Kenya.

The song tells the story of a Kenyan politician who has stolen the essence of humanity, who have selfishly declared war against his/her people by choosing to enrich himself/herself, while the Mwananchi  suffers to the brink of non-existence.

The song also calls for people to stand tall and firm and elect a morally upright, sane, caring individual who practices servant leadership for the sake of those he/she leads. One who will do for the people, per the people for the greater good of our people.

The executive producer was Njeri Kariuki while the songwriter and composer was Anne Wachera. The track was recorded at Kitchen Studios. Check out One Kenya below.

Kapella gets another cypher in. This time, he brings in J’Mani and company

News got out that the hip hop group Coolagang broke up and the rappers decided to go separate ways. So far, I haven’t heard much from individual rappers of the group but it seems as though Kapella is the one still hard on his grind.

Kapella just dropped another cypher, ‘Best at this Art Cypher’ that has been pending for a while now, and in it, he features a couple of rappers, among them, J’Mani, DOM, Bilari and Rabsari).

Personally, I love the simplicity of the video and the plan behind it, especially when the rappers show up on screen from different positions, do their thing, then dissapear in their own ways. Ain’t never seen that so far. Really cool.

Check out the video below and tell us what you think about it.

Kenyan Enters RZA’s (Wu Tang Clan) Competition for Tarantino Film. Needs Your Help to Win

A Kenyan beatmaker has entered a competition where he stands a chance to win over $10,000 worth of prizes. Wu Tang Clan’s RZA is holding a competition where producers are given the chance to remix the soundtrack his latest film’s soundtrack, Built For This.

Alongside RZA, The Man With The Iron Fists also stars Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu and Jamie Chung among others. Artistes whose music has been featured The Black Keys, Kanye West, RZA, Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, Corrine Bailey Rae and Wu Tang Clan. The film was written by RZA and Eli Roth (Hostel) and directed by RZA. The Man With the Iron Fists was produced by Quentin Tarantino.

Nali Katana explains, “I was inspired by the fact that it feels like a warrior/gladiator/conquest movie so I felt need to have powerful orchestral hits and percussions. I used some Asian gongs to fit in the setting and of course, made use of the stems because this is supposed to be a remix, not an original, hence complementing the original producer Frank Dukes. Props to him.”

The winning track will get  a national release on RZA’s new label, Soul Temple, official The Man with the Iron Fists poster, copy of the film’s soundtrack on CD, copy of the film’s score on CD and premium headphones with noise cancelling and a stylish design, all autographed by RZA.

On top of that, full studio equipment including PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2, Ableton Live 8, two Adam A8X Monitors, Novation MiniNova, Focusrite ISA-TWO, Shure KSM42, Studio Accessories Kit and a complete DJ package.

So, far the leader just over 500 votes. So get voting for Nali Katana as he prepares to return home next year to work on projects with local artistes. Listen to his remix below, go here, register and vote. Voting is simple: every entry has a little vote box.  You can log in through your Facebook and click the little thumbs up in the vote box. Competition ends on November 2nd, so hurry.

OJ of Tahidi High is now a Dad (Photos)

It seems the fever baby is sweeping across the celeb circles. Barely a week after we told you about Tallia Oyando’s new born baby, it now emerges that she is not the only new celeb parent. OJ (Dennis Mugo) of the Citizen TV’s Tahidi High has now joined the “father zone”.

OJ introduced his bundle of joy to the world for the very first time on Monday when he posted, “Hi world meet my son, Ethan Mugo. You dont know him…yet.” on his Facebook page. The Tahidi High star who could not hide his joy immediately posted the baby’s photo as his profile picture.

OJ son
Friends, fans and family flooded OJ’s timeline with goodwill messages and on the same note we at Ghafla wish to send our laudatory message to OJ and his family on their baby boy and wish Ethan Mugo a healthy life.

DNA and family unleash the start studded ‘Fimbo ya pili’ video

So, you thought Octopizzo’s ‘Bila Mic remix’ was star studded? Wait till you hear and see this new video from Grandpa Family. A lot of stars, a lot of humor. Grandpa’s latest track ‘Fimbo ya Pili’ was released a while back and now the video is out too.

At first, I thought this was DNA’s track in which he features all these other great Grandpa Records artistes, but it turns out that it is the entire Grandpa Records Family that equally worked on it.

Trust DNA and company to come up with a track that will definitely get people talking and making jokes about. This guy might have just mastered the art of attracting listeners through out of the ordinary lyrics. Lyrics that leave you thinking, “what the hell?” while bumping your head to it.

This new Granda Family jam brings out all the celebrated names from the recording house and even introduces some new ones. I was really surprised to see Ng’ang’alito show up in this video considering this is really not his style of music. But I guess that’s what family is for, and this Grandpa Records family is just tight like that. Even reggae artiste Shamir is in this one.

What an epic video this is. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out below.

Kenya’s Cleverest Female Celebrities

Right about now, you might be wondering, “cleverest?” Yes! At first, while we were discussing this idea of an article in the office, we were like, “will we really find them?” That was right before we started brainstorming and discovered that there are lots of smart young celebrity women right now and they need to be appreciated.

Thus, this list. These are just but the top five of Kenya’s smarted, most intelligent female celebrities (and they got beauty too).

5. Size 8
Oh yeah! I love it that you probably have that dumbfounded look in your face right now. This lass can not only shake her booty to the awe of onlookers, both male and female, but she also got brains and she ain’t wasting it. Music is just her hobby. Size 8 received a schorlaship to the University of Manchester some time back. Isn’t that something?

4. Wahu
She got it going on. She even made a marvelous come-back in music, which she is also good at. Her husband, Nameless is one intelligent architect, so you know he had to get an intelligent lady as well. Wahu earned a degree in Mathematics from the University of Nairobi, and is looking to become a teacher.

3. Amritpal Kaur Kalsi
This is another case of extreme beauty with brains. Kalsi was a flawless model, the type that is admired by all other models. Loved by the camera and all that. She also tried her hand in music at some point. But talent is not all that she was working on. Academically, she has achieved a lot. Where should I start, oh yeah! She first went and got a degree in dentistry at the UON, then pursued a masters in forensic dentistry at the University of Western Cape and ended becoming East Africa’s pioneer forensic odontologist in late 2011. That is not even half of it. She even lectured at the University of Nairobi, at 27 years old till date.

2. Esther Arunga
She got all her education from abroad. She studied it all, from media, to law and finally ended up in the profession that she has always wanted and worked hard for, being a news anchor and a lawyer. Don’t let all those schinanigans related to Hellon fool you. This is one smart lady right here.

1. Julie Gichuru
From the way she talks, her powerful oratory, as soon as she opens her mouth, you can just tell that this is a well informed and educated lady. Julie Gichuru has a Masters’ degree in administration, international business and World Trade Law attained from University of Wales in Cardiff, UK. What’s even better and more captivating about this beautiful lady is that when she speaks, if you are paying enough attention, some intelligence might just be rubbed off on you. Right now, she is one of the most respected and infact, one of Africa’s most powerful women.

I’ve Figured Out What Ikechukwu Anoke Wants To Do In Kenya, And It’s Crazy

Ikechukwu Anoke, better known as “Ike” Is the Group CEO of M-Tech communications. M-Tech is a Nigerian company that makes solutions for mobile networks and such. He is also the man in charge of Taurus Musik. Taurus have been aggresively signing artists in multi-million shilling deals, but what is not clear is Taurus’s mission in the country. They have been operating under a veil of uncertainty, but I have finally figured out what Ike wants to do with Taurus Musik, and it is going to be big.

Have you ever wondered why Nigerian music blew up all of a sudden, and now there is so much of it on our airwaves all over?

Nigerian music blew up because Nigerians finally began setting up REAL record labels(note that production houses are not record labels). What is the function of a real record label? Their main function is to handle:

1. Scouting of artists

2. Financing production

3. Marketing and developing artists

4. Selling albums and booking concerts for an artist

Once you have all these things taken care of by the might of an entire company, that is when you can build mega stars like D’Banj and P-Square. A REAL record label is able to quickly scale the fame of an artist across Africa, and the world. Nigerians have been setting up record labels for the past few years, and that is why their music industry has blown up all of a sudden.

Ike wants to set up Kenya’s first real record label.

He has seen how record labels have worked in Nigeria and he wants to replicate their success here. I support him very hard on this, let me tell you why. The biggest problem with Kenyan entertainment right now is that all the building blocks are in place, but our artists are just missing that final push to international stardom. There is no one who can finance quick production of songs, brand an artist a certain way, market them and book for them entire world tours. If all these things are done, then Kenya can have it’s D’Banj or it’s P-Square. The one problem so far has been that:

Record labels take a TON of money to do well.

The capital you need to basically act as a financier of talent is enormous, but don’t worry, Ike has it. He is CEO of M-Tech.

Taurus Musik so far has had some success with Camp Mulla, but it remains to be seen whether this massive project of Ikechukwu Anoke will work out. I have my thoughts on how the strategy could be better. That’s a post for another day. For now, leave your interesting or creative responses in the comment section below:

The Coolest Song Nairobi Half Life (And It’s Not Ha-He)

Ghafla! gets a lot of fairly unrelated queries in its inbox. From song requests (like we’re a radio station), record deals (who’s lying to people that we sign artistes?) and film schedules. But we have also been receiving emails and tweets asking about a certain song that plays on Nairobi Half Life.

Setup
Cedric asks Mwas if he minds going out for drinks. They end up in Westy where they talk some deep family stuff that shows clear contrasts between their lives. And then the most important lesson Mwas learns in the whole film: how to dance in a Barbie club (okay, maybe not the most important lesson).

“Do it like you need it/Do it like you’re hungry/Do it like you’re crazy/Do it so delicious,” The lyrics go as the Cedric and Mwas’ dancing gets vigorous. “Oooh, aaah…” as the Nairobi skyline slowly interrupts shots of the two energetically daggering their hands into the air.

People have been asking about the title of the song that plays during that particular scene. Well, it’s called Forever People (Do It So Delicious). The track is off Just-A-Band’s 2009 album, 82. Lyrics and production by Just-A-Band while the vocals are by Njoki Ngumi.

The band made a clip which used the track in the background for their video art exhibition last year, later released this year when parts of the exhibition were posted on YouTube.

Some have asked why the track is not listed in the Nairobi Half Life soundtrack album. That is probably because it’s not an original soundtrack, it was a pre-existing track that was picked for the film. Which explains why Ha-He was also not included in the OST album despite playing an important role in the film. Check out a “video” for Forever People below.

Kenyan Artiste Through the First Round of the Grammys

This year has seen some really good productions from Kenya or by Kenyans. From Camp Mulla who have received a nomination for almost every major international award from MTV Europe to BET. Then Nairobi Half Life became Kenya’s first official entry at the Oscars.

Now, there’s a US-based Kenyan who just made the first round ballot of the Grammy ballot. In the first round, his debut album as a solo artiste, Aya Ye! Moving Train was accepted in the following categories:

Best Urban Contemporary Album
Best New Artist
Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist
Best Engineered Album (non-classical)
Producer Of The Year

According to his consultant and executive producer of his previous albums (as the member of his previous bands), Phillip Roy, “There is the second round, if he gets picked for it this 1st round…the second round will determine the final nominations.”

KG Omulo started out as a member of the gospel accapela group, Nawez, back in 1997, which included Ketebul artiste, Winyo. Then he formed KG and The Band after moving to the U.S.

Now going as KG Omulo, he released Aya Ye! Moving Train on 14th January to critical acclaim even being featured on Washington Post, NPR and the Jazz Journalists Association naming his album as the Best Debut CD.

Africa’s Top Director to Shoot P-Unit’s “You Guy” Video

It’s without a doubt that P-Unit is one of the top music groups in the country thanks to its exceptional music that identifies with all its fans. Well, P-Unit has another surprise for its fans as it’s set to have the video of its hit-maker single, “You Guy”, directed by Nigeria’s top video director Clarence Peters.

Clarence Peters is one of best music video directors not only in Nigeria but the entire continent. Having won director of the year and best music video in different music video awards, Clarence is the most sought after director thanks to his popularity (3 of every 5 videos seen on TV is directed by him). The legendary director is also the brains behind Camp Mulla’s “Party Don’t Stop” video (so you know what to expect of P-Unit’s video).

Speaking to Ghafla exclusively on phone, one of the mambers, Gabu revealed that video will be shot either this weekend or on Monday next week. He also added that more details of the shoot will be provided one day to the filming. Gabu told his fans to expect something hot, typical of their videos.

Be sure to keep it Ghafla for more on this.

Bamboo Reveals His Future Music Plans

Recently during Akon’s press conference at the Ole Sereni, K-South’s finest hip hop artiste Bamboo divulged that he is recording a collabo with Kenya’s top teen hip hop group Camp Mulla.

It will be interesting to see the resultant of this coming together of two powerhouses; one of which is a veteran in Kenya’s music while the other is just starting out yet has so much to be proud of. It may seem kinda far-fetched to say that the track will be a massive hit but if the artistes’ recent works is anything to go by then we can expect nothing short of a club banger.

Bamboo who holds Camp Mulla in high regard hailed the group for the exemplary performance and even securing a nomination in the prestigious BET Awards. He also told his fans to watch out for more music videos from him.

Uganda’s Juliana Beats Nonini & Nameless to UK’s Top Award

Talented Ugandan female artist Juliana Kanyomozi has added another accolade to her awards’ collection by winning a BEFFTA-Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts award in the category of best International Afrobeats Act at this year’s 4th edition held in UK over the weekend.

Juliana beat Kenya’s Nameless and Nonini, her countryman Chameleone, WizKid, DBanj, Wande Coal, Zahara, Iyanya, Ice Prince, Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie and Tiffany in the Best International Afrobeats Act category. The BEFFTA awards recognize the best showbiz and entertainment in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, U.S and globally.

“Hey family, we won the BEFFTA award yessss! Thank you for all the support you showed through your votes. I couldn’t have done it without you. Uganda, East Africa, You did it.” Juliana said in her acceptance speech.

Bamzigi’s “Mutumia Morogi” Video Finally Out!

Bamzigi’s long awaited music video to the wonderful electro jam “Mutumia Morogi” is finally out!

The video features scenes from Nairobi such as an eatery along Moi Ave, it has them driving around this our Nairobi. They are laid back and it even seems to be another night out with your boy recording the events.

Then there’s the pissing fight that Bamzi and one of his boys engage in just before they head out for “Kikoy Fest”. Ladies and gentlemen, the reason why i wasn’t in the video at this point is because i was in the VIP section. But i digress.

This song couldn’t have had a better video. Check it out below!

The Top Ten Best Radio Presenter Partnerships (Best Chemistry On Air)

Which radio partnership have been the most entertaining to listen to? Which two radio presenters have had you tuned into their show and probably even their station jjsut so you can listen to the pair?

w430.jpg

#10. Raptcha and King Kafulicious
I never understand half of what these guys said and my mummy never let me listen in long enough in the morning to this show but they little i got was hilarious. I still don’t know from whence they got their names: Raptcha the Sayantist and King Kafu but they were funny. I don’t know why Raptcha was let loose but what i do know is that given time these lads would have created a brand that would have rivalled Maina and King’angi’s all things ceteris peribus. And by that i mean if they could contain themselves and control their natures.

3676_419624041426650_47989174_n.jpg

#9. Tina Kagia and Marcus Olang’ (Breakfast with Tina and Marcus)
I loved these guys. They didn’t resort to buffoonery even once or ethnic laced jokes. Just good smart humour. They had a chemistry that had me believing they were old friends and though they often took contrary positions in debates and discussions, they did so as old friends would -without giving a hairy rodent’s posterior. They went in on any and every subject! Good stuff!

#8. Marcus and Leo
These guys were hilarious. The fact that one is Ugandan not withstanding. I have to admit that i struggle to get Ugandan humour just as much as i struggle to understand what in God’s good name “Mi-ji-ng-o” is. But Marcus was a godsend. He often had me roaring with laughter. The two always had an extra quip to add to a joke to stoke the fires of laughter just when it threatened to die down. Goodstuff.
And this collaboration was so huge that when they left Capital, that time slot reeled for quite abit before finally finding it’s footing. That is testament enough to what the chemistry Marcus shared with Leo wrought.

792d891071ec9b83dd6c57c327a3baa5_M.jpg

#7. Caroline and Jalang’o
Again, after baiting us then sending our teeth a-quavering with an unnecessary sucker punch, Caroline Mutoko makes another appearance on Ghafla. I remember listening to Caroline in the morning as my mummy drove me to school and not feeling an ounce of excitement build up. But then again, that was just me. There had to be a reason why my mummy found her interesting. But a couple of years later, she teamed up with Jalang’o and Larry Asego. Finally i had something to smile about as i got dropped to school. Then Larry got rotated to another segment and it was just Caroline and Jalas. And i have to admit that they have kindled a spark of chemistry between them. And all this was managed without diluting Caroline’s nature. Goodstuff Jalang’o!

#6. Ciku Muiruri and Nick Odhiambo (Evening Drive)
These guys are funny but unfortunately, I feel Ciku’s busted eclipses Nick. Nick is a boisterous chap and listening to him I often find meself visualizing a bull in a china shop when he’s with Ciku immediately after her “Busted segment”. She needs to find a way to incorporate him whether or not the skit is her brain-child.
I say this because when the show starts off, they are quite the pair. But when busted is about to air, he has to become a passenger. i rate this partnership very highly (I think it should have been number 2 but this fact cut off so many dede Chim marks!

cess.jpg

#5. Maqbul and Cess Mutungi (The Jam)
These by far are my favourite. They are rambunctious, effervescent and damn funny! They don’t resort to buffoonery to be funny but rely solely on their wit and sarcasm to accomplish this. They are also my kind of people: funny, loud and unfettered to silly notions of social decency. They talk freely but without crossing the very faint line so many often do. They have fun doing what they do and their peels of laughter often rent the air and are as genuine as my dental formula.

#4. Eve d’Souza and DJ Styles
These guys had radio chemistry long before it was a word familiar to any other radio personality. They were friends who shared the same taste in music and a deep understanding of each other. Style is arrogant -and not the endearing brand of arrogance found in Uncle Chim Tuna but an off-putting arrogance and Eve knew this. Eve was a people person loved by all.
When Styles went on one of his condescending and patronizing monologues, Eve used her charm. And when Eve was getting heavy with her charm (yes, at times this is a bad thing) styles would step in to create equilibrium with his douchebagery. *sniff sniff* Do you smell that? It’s the scent of perfect harmony.

342333389.jpg

#3. Shaffie Weru and Kalekye (The Drive)
Although we’ve had our run in with Kalekye Mumo which saw her take to air and call us cabbages (how is calling me food -a necessity for existence and sustenance an insult anyway?!) I shan’t begrudge her the fact that her partner has made the chemistry they share work. Shaffie teamed up with Kalekye and everything since has been history. They are funny and their comebacks witty and they rib each other like old friends would. They don’t pull their punches when they go in at each other but it’s always lighthearted.

#2. Mbusi and Bonoko (Air Goteana)
These guys have proved just how wide their reach is. And their influence over sheng and urban inner-city culture is shocking. They dream up words and they become official words. And matatus are always locked on to their shows. few if any tune into their competitors shows.

#1. Maina And King’ang’i (Maina and King’ang’i in the morning)
What can i say about these guys! Their combination defines radio chemistry! You can tell that they are friends from their banter and that makes the chemistry real. They rib each other about things only friends would dare and sometimes even complete each other’s sentences like an old married couple would.
Whoever dreamt up this pair and saw it to fruition should be commended and possibly given a chopper because of how brilliant the idea is.

Camp Mulla Give Us a Glimpse of Their Hot New Album

Hip hop group, Camp Mulla, held a listening party for their new album, FuNKYToWN, at Taurus Gardens.

Save for one song, they concentrated on unreleased material from the new album. Shappaman Kass explained how Nairobi’s funkyness inspired their debut album, “We once saw this cool guy on the road. He looked like a guy we would know but we didn’t.”

The group members took turns to explain inspiration behind the music. It started of with The MC (Taio Tripper) presenting the album title track, Funkytown followed by Karun who presented the inspirational Papeyo (Don’t Ever Give Up) sampling Zanaziki before they performed both tracks.

K’Cous was next for Sunday Swagg, which he explained was a sample of a track by The Spinners which he really liked before urging the attendees to listen to the original. Then Taio introduced a song which he said was the group’s personal favorite. “The song samples tunes from one of the best bands in Africa, Just-A-Band. If you were keen enough to listen to Tingiza Kichwa at the end, you’ll know what I’m talking about.” They then proceeded to perform the jazzy Where Do You Come From?

The MC also presented their latest release, a collaboration with Nigeria’s WizKid, Prices. Karun presented the last track, End of the Night, which she described as Party Don’t Stop Part II.

FuNKYToWN was released on September 22nd and is available in Nakumatt and Text Book Center for only Kshs. 250.

DJ Creme is now a Singer

You’ve only known him as a deejay but now it emerges that DJ Crème De La Crème can actually also vocalize songs and not just selecting and playing them. DJ Crème recently released a new single featuring Proff.

Christened “Kidogo”, Proff unleashes fresh lyrics towards a lady he is trying to woo convincing her that he is the best among all the suitors after her love. Though DJ Crème does not sing much in the track, the song is definitely worth listening to.

Abbas Says K-Nel Tried Swindling Artistes by Claiming He’s a CEO

Abbas appeared on Homeboyz Radio to release his new single but the subject of his latest beef with K-Nel could not be ignored.

Besides explaining how it all started, he also accused the rapper, music promoter and entrepreneur of fraud. “K-Nel was trying to say he was CEO of Phoenix (Records) and telling artistes he is going to sign them.”

According to Abbas, he was trying to convince the artistes that through MCSK, he will market their music in Germany. He further clarified that even if that were true, one would have to clear with the German copyright body and not MCSK. “These are the type of people we are trying to avoid. I’m trying to make people aware.”

It was a beef that emerged right after Abbas’ return from his German tour a couple of months ago. On the same night that he returned, he was to perform at K-Nel’s Hip Hop Slamdown show, for which Abbas says he hasn’t been paid.

Underground Hype: Introducing Aries Wyde

There are alot of underground artists trying to go mainstream and when i started out here at Ghafla i had set out to give them a platform to be heard.

But i dropped the ball along the way and now it’s time i start again. This segment i’d like to introduce will be called Underground Hype and is for artists who have music worth listening to. However it will have constructive criticism. The type you need to become a better artist. And without further ado, i present to you:
Aries Wyde.

1349163542_172108596195330_5386739_n.jpg
This lad has a track out called “Completely that was produced and mastered by Maich Blakk and the Herbalist so you know the instrumentals are on point like a pin. The beats are too loud such as to drown out the vocals nor are the vocals too loud so as to shriek over the track.
The track has Aries singing and while he doesn’t go off key, i am a strong believer in showcasing the vocals.
All in all the track isn’t a bad track and you should give it a listen because Aries doesn’t have too far to go before blowing up and becoming a household name.

Give the track a listen and let me know what you think.

Beef! Abbas Explains His Beef With Former Friend K-Nel!

Abbas was just on Home Boyz Radio with Raquel Soni of Home Boyz Radio and he opened up about his beef with erstwhile friend and ally K-Nell.

Abass explained his side of things by stating that when he decided to work with K-Nel, it was as boys and as such he didn’t think of insisting that a contract be drafted. And as such he feels betrayed by the recent actions of his friend turned nemesis.

k-nel.jpg

And when he was asked how much money was at stake he intimated that it was too little for him to state and that by stating the amount he would really embarrass K-Nel. Apparently, Abbas had just arrived into the country and even had to leave the bags at the entrance so he could get on stage to perform which he only did for the sake of his fans as K-Nel had already failed to honour his end of the bargain.

Abbas says that he even only agreed to perform because it was his boy who’d asked him to because the amount in question is paltry and as K-Nel had approached him as a boy he didn’t expect to be stiffed of his dues.

Clearly this beef will; not abate anytime soon from the writings on the wall… K-Nel, over to you. Your side of the story is eagerly awaited!

Ringtone’s Compelling Act of Generosity

Ringtone was recently in Meru, and he met Meru fan who lives in Australia.
The said fan claimed that he and his kids are a big fans of Ringtone’s music, and that he had been looking for the singer for a long time. Ringtone also felt that it was God’s plan that they met up.

The two went up to the hotel the Australian was staying in, and they made their way to the reception. The Aussie suggested, “Ringtone, why don’t i give you a token for 2000 dollars?”

Ringtone thought about it and said, “Let the glory be to God, not to you. There is no need to give me the money.”

Later on, a friend called Ringtone saying that there was a charity which could use his help. Ringtone saw that he could have put that Australian’s offer into the charity, so he friended him on Facebook and now he is praying for god to touch him to bring the money and do God’s work.

Incase you have been wondering, this is what goes on at gospel rave events

Ever since these gospel rave events have been coming up every other day, controversy have build up that this shouldn’t be the behaviour of gospel artiste and believers alike. That this is just an excuse to get to rave, which is actually a temptation that they should be fighting.

Well, personally, I really wouldn’t mind if the gospel peeps wanted to have a little bit of fun all through the night. Still, that doesn’t stop those that are bent on destroying everything right. Thus, the revelation of this video.

‘Club 316’ and ‘The Lounge 254’ are now some of the biggest gospel night events that have got the youths enjoying themselves all night long, while at the same time keeping to their faith.

After all the controversies about some of these gospel rave events were brought to our attention, I expected to see drunk youths all over this video, grinding to gospel music, since that was the insinuation in the first place.

Turns out that these guys, at Club 3:16, are just having innocent fun. Dancing to their music and all. Nothing immoral as expected by most.

Check out the video to the ‘Club 3:16’ event that went down at the Abondoz Restaurant some time back.

Stunning Photos Of Amina, HBR’s Sexiest Presenter

Amina is the host of Homeboyz Radio’s “The Source” with DJ Hassan, and “My Top 10.” She is also an event MC, and most recently, she stepped into the music scene with her debut single, “On Me,” a collaboration with rising star Jay A.

So the video for “On Me” came out a few weeks back, and it was hot

{youtube}dgE7pXKBL-Y{/youtube}

But one thing was conspicuously missing from the video…

Amina was not in it.

This led to people mistakenly thinking that the main video chic was Amina. When I asked her, she told me that she was not available to shoot the video, but she allowed Jay A to go ahead and record it nevertheless.

I therefore took it upon myself to obtain photos of this girl and make sure people knew exactly who Amina is. Here are the pics:
