Big things are happening for the Boys Choir of Kenya!First they performed at Barack Obama’s inaguration in 2009,later they got to perform with the “Promiscuous” singer Nelly Furtado at a We Day event.

The ‘We Day’ is an annual youth empowerment event attended by thousands of students that is organised by Free The Children charity.The event is held in cities in the United States and Canada.This year’s We Day will be held in Toronto and Vancouver In Canada.It will be a star studded event with many dignitaries such as Koffi Anaan former UN Secretary General.

Darren Criss who plays Blaine in the Emmy Award-winning series Glee will host the show.Other stars who will share the stage with the Boys Choir Of Kenya are America’s Barenaked Ladies,Demi Lovato – Award-winning singer-songwriter and Free The Children ambassador and pop-rock sensation Jonas Brothers.

Born in 1986  the alluring singer burst into the limelight with her song  ‘Mama’  that talked of forbidden young love looking for approval from their parents.The alumnus of  University of Nairobi  studied at the School of Art and Design graduating  with a degree in Design.The Nakuru born lady is also an actress in addition to being a designer and a singer.Her break-out role was as a musician and Leo’s love interest in MTV’s Shuga.

Grand Pa records is one of Kenya’s heavyweights when it comes to releasing hot jams and from their recent track record, you can tell that they are looking to dominate. And this new release by Libby Klement seeks to further the march of this army!

Libby Klement has been a member of the Grand Pa Army for a minute now and as a reward for their loyalty, they have decided the time has come for her to bask in the sun! and she doesn’t dissapoint with this musical offering titled “Rusha Mikono”.

I have to admit that when I heard the name of the jam, i though it was one of those lame one-liners of yore, you know, “Rusha mikono juu kwenye hewa, nikama munapewa!” but boy was I wrong. No wonder Thee MC Africa (of Camp Mulla) once advised me albeit via twitter to think deeper, think wider and think harder.

The track is a fantastic musical offering that tell about the plight of a lass in a relationship with an unfaithful git. The yob in question is only faithful when he is around her but as soon as he leaves, other lasses enter stage left!

The gossip mills have been on overdrive since it was revealed that Emmy Kosgei’s was getting hitched to the Nigerian cleric and mogul Anslem Madubuko. Opinions were aired,criticisms passed and rumour mongering was on an all time high but that did not slow down the Tau Net Nelel singer.

In fact she got the kind of wedding that could only exist in a fairytale,she did not have one but three weddings that were slated to cost approximately 1 billion shillings!The first wedding was a traditional wedding held yesterday in Abuja Nigeria .The second wedding will be held tomorrow in Lagos Nigeria at the Revival Miracle Cathedral.The hymeneal will be invite only and the swanky reception will be held at the lavish Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Lagos.The last ceremony will be at Emmy’s backyard where prominent people such as the president,deputy president and two former presidents will grace the occasion.

Juliani is a man with many feathers on his cap and he is about to add another. The conscious rapper has just been appointed as the Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet patron in Kenya. This means that he has joined a list of of his peers such as Oliver Mutukudzi (Zimbabwe),Karola Kinasha (Tanzania),Miriam Makeba, Ray Phiri (Both of South Africa),The late Malanga Tata (Mozambique),our very own Eric Wainaina  among others.

As a patron he is more or less a good will ambassador and is expected to do among other things:

• Mentor /empower young Umoja artists from the 8 different countries
• Represent Kenya in other countries during tours and camps
• Share his experience as renowned artist
• Spread the Umoja Cultural Flying carpet gospel
• 

He will be touring with the team to many areas both in Kenya and other countries.

What is Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet?

Umoja – Cultural Flying Carpet “South” – is a collaborative development program and involves the participation of 11 cultural institutions from four different countries: Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Norway. Carpet “East” includes Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Norway. Umoja cultural flying carpet is a program working for peace and development of society through international cultural collaboration. The Flying carpet brings young artists of these cultural institutions together in cultural camps so that they can create together. Umoja cultural flying carpet aims to develop a worldwide network of programs, institutions and individuals. Sarakasi has been member of the Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet since 2007 and has been participating in annual international and regional camps. In these camps young artists (around 20 of each organization) and trainers create cultural collaborations. Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet is funded by the Norwegian Government.

first off, allow me to say that I do not subscribe to the culture of dowry. And that is inspite of me fully embracing African culture. Seriously though, like FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) this practice has been overtaken by time. it is now moribund and we should do away with it.

I have often joked that the only time I will willingly spend my resources on paying dowry is when I am offered a BOGOF deal in which I get two daughters for the price of one! And you can run and tell your mother i said it!

But not everyone is of my school of thought. And in the same breath, not everyone abuses the custom of paying dowry. And it would seem Emmy Kosgei’s family doesn’t view dowry as an excuse for extortion.

Four cows, four goats, a billy goat which will be given to the bride’s mother and 12,000/- in accordance with Kalenjin culture.

In early August, comedian-turned-radio host, Peter Kaimenyi better known as Kajairo hang up his mic and headphones after a long stint on afternoon radio.

His departure from NMG’s Q FM left the radio station with a void that needed an immediate replacement. The vacuum left by Kajairo was obviously a huge task for the management to fill as his replacement was supposed to be a personality who would contentedly fit into Kajairo’s shoes.

Fortunately for the management, it did not have to outsource a substitute. Ladies and gentlemen say hello to the new host for ‘Maafte’: MWAFREEKA!

Many times in life, death comes unexpectedly, touching us in ways that fill our hearts with grief, anguish, and pain. Sadly, for one Influx Swagga this is what happened.

Plans were in top gear and everyone was looking forward to Influx Swagga’s Wazito album launch on his 26^th birthday at an invites-only event in a Nairobi club on the 31^st of August 2013. However, his events’ manager has announced that the launch has to be postponed.

It has been about 7 years since we saw teenage singing sensation Czars.Many wonder what happened to the Amka Ukatike  singer who got us seriously jamming to his songs for a fleeting moment.It is said that before his KCSE exams in 2006,he just vanished and no one has ever heard or seen him since,it is like he fell off the face of the earth!

It was speculated that he was terrified of the life-changing  of the exams thus his disappearance.The rumor mill has been in overdrive ever since he vamoosed with people alleging that the star was shacking up with an old lady in ‘Mogadishu Ndogo’aka Eastleigh others say he is residing with a wealthy white lady living a ‘Richie Rich’ kind of life.

Citizen’s Willy M Tuva decided to get information about the star’s disappearance and who was in a better position to reveal this other than the Star’s father.Talking to Willy,Czar;s father revealed that the son went for the KCSE rehearsals then came back home excited about the prospect of clearing high school.Czars then changed out of his school uniform and left the house saying that he was going to visit a friend.That was the last they saw of the teenager.When the father realised that the son had taken too long to return home,a manhunt was started  and went on for two days.On the third day the dad contacted the police,but 7 years on still there is no sign of him.
The father concluded by saying that he still believes that his son is alive and that he will one day come back and when he does,he will be welcomed

with open arms.

We had earlier announced that Edward Maya the Romanian musician,performer and composer was set to perform in the 254.I have good news for you Stereo Love fans,The 27 year old musician is as we speak in Nairobi  Kenya!

Born Eduard Marian Ilie on June 29, 1986,Maya launched his first song as an artiste called Stereo love which topped the Romanian Single charts.The popularity of Stereo Love grew in leaps and bounds making it a favorite in clubs all over the world.The video to the song has garnered over a whooping  199 million views on you tube.

Maya has worked with Romanian artistes such as Vika Jigulina(Stereo Love)Akcent,Blaxy Girls and Dj Sava among others.This year he released his first album The Stereo Love Show which was released under the Mayavin label.Other singles under his belt are This is My Life,Desert Rain and Mono In love all of which he performs with Vika Jigulina.
