Tony, the former member of M.O.G has had a rough time. From once being accused of rape, to being accused of siring a son out of wedlock -allegations I was informed were disproved to eventually being kicked out of the group he had started with his brother and friend. Sad indeed. But the one constant source of sunshine for the lad has been his girlfriend.
And so it is that after putting up with every calamity that has befallen him, the lass gets to the finished line. Why am I talking about relationships as a race? Because women seem driven; they seek to leave the girlfriend phase and enter the Mrs. category. And I for one am happy given the fact that short of love, the two really had nothing in common. From background to profession.
But the love of Jesus Christ and the love that they have for each other held the couple together. And so, now for the pictures of the engagement:

It’s finally sinking in that one of Kenya’s hottest commodities in terms of looks and talent ,Avril is off the shelf.
The ‘Kitu Kimoja’ singer is getting ready to marry the man of her dreams, a South African investor and by the look of things the wedding could be happening any time soon.

Bootylicious Avril posted this photo whose caption revealed that the wedding is very close The countdown begins..#Excited #PreparationsThings

As usual, recording of Churchill show went down on Thursday evening at the Carnivore but on a very different atmosphere and setting. Check out the photos here ….

Taurus Musik has most recently signed one of Zambia’s biggest artistes ER’.
Born Patterson Chibela Chikesenge 27 years ago ,ER started rapping in April 2011 and has since established himself as a rapper/ singer and performing artist as well as a music producer and Song writer.
His first single Aka Red Naka Black feat Chef187 was the track that caught Taurus Musik ‘s attention .The track received a lot of positive attention and was on heavy rotation not only in Zambia but in most of southern Africa.
ER’ has recently released ‘Picture Perfect’ which is expected to top charts throughout Africa. Just as the name suggests, the song is a love song with a catchy afro pop feel to it and features Lizwe, another Zambian artist.
With Lyrics delivered in English and local Zambian language Nyanja, ER tells the lady in question what he wants in a woman and how their love is perfect.
Enjoy the track below
{youtube}iJGF_T__w0M{/youtube}
The other signee Eddie Black is the ultimate hiphop artist. He has that amazing, hit making rap flow that makes his music sure hits every single time. He has previously worked on a number of successful Zambian Collaborations including Bangumfweko Featuring Peezey Cables and Black Majik featuring Yung Majik.
Eddie Black is set to go Continental with the release of his first single alongside Taurus Musik ‘Mujulu’ which has an Authentic African feel. In the track Eddie has cleverly incorporated folk instrumentals which liven up the track.
Check it out below:

The lyrics refer to being sky high and never touching down which is what this talented young artist is anticipating for as his hits top the charts.
We have all been there. That awkward, confusing and not forgetting sweat jerking moment when you are forced to chose between love and your career.
Hollywood insiders report that Lupita Nyong’o could be in such a fix, just when her career is about to take off she allegedly wants to get engaged to world distinguished rapper boyfriend Knaan but this could just nip in the bud of her fruitful career.

Lupita and Knaan after the Oscars (PHOTO:Matthew Symons/Coleman-Rayner)
Star Magazine reports that Lupita’s squad is greatly against the move although “She’s crazy for him, but she knows how much is at stake. Her Hollywood dream is in sight, and she’s on the cusp of a great career. Her heart says yes, but her brain knows it’s too soon.

You gotta love the person who calls Colonel Moustapha a socialite. And today, that person is Adelle Onyango, the mid morning presenter on Kiss 100. Why did she call him a socialite? Because he is. Her words not mine. Anyway, she was delving deeper into the saga that was Colonel Moustapha and Huddah Monroe when she decided to give her two cents on the matter.
For those of you not in the know, Colonel Moustapha had to apologize to the women of Kenya after some Coastal women protested his objectification of both Huddah and an anonymous lass with whom he had taken pictures with while they were in various stages of undress.
Then Adelle asked why he had to apologize since he had done nothing wrong. She then proceeded to play a recording of a phonecall convo she had with Nyota Ndogo who was still livid and Adelle then said, “I don’t know why he had to apologize. He was fully dressed!”
Finally, someone who agrees with the true tenents of feminism. Huddah is a reasoning adult who consented to having pictures taken with Colonel Moustapha while she was topless. She is an adult and should be held responsible for her decisions, not Moustapha.
So, say Moustapha was wrong. I dare you, I double dare you!
Mechi uno!

Almost Every actor/musician/model dabbles in something else on the side, some actors such as Nick Mutuma dabble in Music, Brenda Wairimu is an actress cum model while the beautiful Lucy Waigera is an actress stroke presenter.
As it turns out one of Kenya’s most popular actresses and presenters is also a model. Brenda Mwai shared a photo of herself during her days as a model and she was quite a sight to behold

Brenda Mwai had a brief stint in Tahidi High before heading to Str8 Up where she then switched to hosting a daybreak show on KTN called Morning Rise. Brenda then left Morning Rise and is currently pursuing personal projects then she will head back to TV
The music industry is in a perpetual state of vicious competition and the best thing about this is that it means that it is constantly evolving -or rather our musicians are. (MOVED UP / MOVED DOWN / SAME SPOT)
Stella Mwangi has slowly but surely established herself as a fierce, artistic rapper worth not only your time but your money.
With hits such as Lookie-Lookie, Bad As I Wanna Be and Hulla-Hoop we cannot expect anything less than absolute perfection from the Norway based Kenyan rapper.

The spirited rapper has dropped Koolio, a track basically about keeping your cool no matter what. The track is totally on fire with lyrics such as
I am not a gansta, but im acting kinda like a gangsta,
I do not fear a thing, sh*t i see crazy things
Man you should visit Kenya and get some gangsta in ya
Check it out for yourself

The Westgate style terror attack was to happen last Saturday at 10:30am at a busy mall in Eastlands. Aim to kill 500 people.
— Dęnnís Ökarí (@DennisOkari) March 30, 2014
This is the rather chilling and ominous tweet sent out by NTV’s lead investigative journalist Dennis Okari who was celebrating the fact that the fact that terrorists didn’t attack the mall. But it also served as a chilling reminder that Kenya is still vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
For those of us who lost loved ones during the Westgate attack that occurred late last year, the pain is still an ever present memory: a reminder of the day Kenya’s security forces failed it’s people. For those of us lucky not to have been caught up in the crossfire, the day goes down in infamy as the day when Kenya as a nation was held hostage by al Kebab -sorry, al Shabab militants killed Kenyans indiscriminately.

And so when I came across the rather scary tweeet by one of Kenya’s most celebrated investigative journalists I just had to share. Why the attacks didn’t occur as planned is still unclear. Did the country’s security apparatii save the day or did al Kebab -I did it again, sorry- did al Shabaab militants come up with the runs?
The answer is a toss up but I for one happen to be very happy nothing happened.
I was trawling the internets for stories for today when I came across a very interesting piece that was posted by none other than Lupita Nyong’o on her instagram account. Why was it interesting? Well, Lupita had run across Lupita -the soda. And that is as ironic as it is funny. And the irony wasn’t lost on her as she shared the picture and LOLs.
And here the picture is:

All Lupita, all the time!
I cannot believe the amount of sexy girls who have endorsed Kenya’s Kiss Bandit! This is actually shocking! Nay, choking. I am choking off of the jealousy! Check out why exactly I am envious below:

Anto Neosoul has dropped what might be one of Africa’s best Soul albums of this decade and beyond “STARBORN”.This Kenyan singer’s ownership of his own unique, lovable sound has made him instantly recognizable and beloved precisely because his music never disappoints.
It challenges you to develop a greater love for sound and a discerning ear for the deeper groove.
Anto drops records that dare you not to recognize his attention to detail. He lays his life bare to invite listeners to experience his personal evolution as a singer, songwriter according to tenets of unbridled funk and lyric ingenuity.

This 16 track project is brimming with absolute fire and a timeless sound that should afford it a place in the collections of any soul music lover worth his/her salt.
AntoNeosoul has written all the songs and the music is produced by Dillie, Provoke, Jesse Bukindu and Kanyeria who will definitely set the bar for great Kenyan music production.
The only collaboration is “Turn it up” with the indomitable Wangechi.
Anto who is signed to Pine Creek Records credits label owner and Executive Producer Peter Nduati (CEO Resolution Health) as the brainchild behind this product and Mike Mburu as “the bridge” that sustained him to make it happen.

In the album appreciation, it is evident, they believed in Anto Neosoul and he continues to feel that support.
Anto has sung about Africa and the stereotypes labeled by the first world, he prides himself as the best lover any girl could wish for in “Hujawahi” and in another classic “Addicted” he reminds us that he is arguably Kenya’s best male musician .
A STAR has truly been BORN and from the sound of things, Kenya is about to be placed on the international music scene map.

And here are more kids in action,

The first time they teamed up it was for a Calif produced track “Vile Tafanya” which also featured Jua Cali. But back then, things were simple. Simple times, simple friendships. Then like everything else, the situation evolved. And since then, it has been difficult to so much as spot the two friends together.
But they teamed up once again and this time it was for the greater good of society. Aye, they teamed up for some CSR of sorts and the day found them at a children’s home putting smiles on the children’s faces. And why was that special? Well, becuase this was no photo op, they actually interacted with the kids. Check them out below:

Where were they? Flomina Childrens Home in Kayole.
Catherine Kamau is one of the hottest females we have ever seen in the entertainment industry. She stars on Citizen TV’s Mother-In-Law, a show about a matriarch who heads a rather unconventional household. And that was where we were first introduced to her but since then, her career has taken off in leaps and bounds.
Away from that, I recently came across a picture of her doppleganger and maybe, just maybe,Catherine Kamau’s father has some explanations to issue. Check out the hot lass and her look-a-like below:

The Florida 2000 hosts an exclusive party to all it’s card holding members on Saturday 5th April from 9pm.
Citizen Television recently re-branded into something bigger better and more exciting. Thanks to Citizen TV, Prime time is no longer an off the mill depressing affair. Citizen weekend was given the much needed zing with a section called Fashion Watch.Fashion Watch is basically a fashion critique segment where a panel of fashionistas look at the embarrassing fashion fails and win of the week.
The panel includes Lillian Muli, stylist Annabel Onyango, Robert, Ian Mbugua, drum’s editor and red-haired Carol Odero. On the hot seat last week was Governor Evans Kidero, the feisty Orie Rogo Manduli, her daughter and lastly Juacali
First on the hot seat was Kidero’s ‘torn sock’ that had been doing rounds on social media and causing quite an unnecessary uproar and elicited an apology from Kidero’s wife. The panel felt that every man should be responsible for their sock affairs and should not step out in torn sock.Lillian however said that maybe his sock tore in between morning and the time the photo was taken

Photo :The People
Next on the chopping board was the grand and gaudy Manduli who did not fail to stand out with a peach kitenge dress paired with a raisin purple head scarf and sash that matched not only the headgear but the bride’s bouquet too.
The fashion panel felt that she was trying to upstage the bride and yet it was her big day, they also felt that the enormous necklace and bracelet were just a bit too much for the outfit. In summary they felt that Manduli should have pressed pause on the flamboyance and let her daughter shine on her big day

Manduli and daughter at her daughter’s wedding (Photo Cate Mukei)
Next came the bride who wore a dull grey dress that just did not have that ‘wow’ factor that a bride’s dress should have. They opined that the dress was just plain, ill fitting and the bride needed to show a little more skin
Juacali and his Versace suit were not spared either, and the very prominent label earned him the dreaded showy label that is associated with the ‘new money’ generation.

But it was not all criticism as I got to learn a few things such as loafers should not be worn with socks but if you suffer from feet odor, pop socks will do.Also loafers should be worn with linen and your pair of socks should always match with your socks!
Maina and King’ang’i this morning are addressing a rather foul subject matter; filthy women. You know the type not to grab a shower -not even a french bath for a couple of days then subject everyone especially their partners to the stench that is their bodies. Bleurgh! And the callers have truly shocked me! the number of women who are running around being unhygienic is too damn high!
From women who do not bathe for two days to women who go an entire week without showering and the particular lady in question doesn’t even wear panties! I was shocked by the way people called in to say that they know such women. If the women I know did this, Uncle Chim Tuna would be mortified! I would slap a…

You didn’t bathe? Do you think I am a fish monger?

Tune in to listen to the madness!

They say that music is a universal language. Aslong as the song is good, you will be able to get people from different cultures and creeds and even races singing along. And Elani are an example of a group with good music. I have said for a while now that Elani have good music and that fact is finally getting appreciated.
As I was trawling the internet for stories, I came across this video of toddlers singing along to Elani’s “Milele” and the two African American girls look so adorable. They had me daydreaming of rainbows and teddy-bears and unicorns as they sung along. Check out the video below:

Kenyan entertainment is a scene filled with sharks and tuna. Ironically, one shark is called Tuna. The thing I have found to be most unique about Kenya’s entertainment scene is the rate at which we run through celebrities is scary! A person could be hot this year and by next year, struggle for a feature on an upcoming artist’s track.
The sea is even more rough for socialites. Last year, everyone wanted to know more about Pendo. Whenever we’d talk, This year, no one is bothered. It’s as if she didn’t exist. Which is sad given how often i used to pester her asking her to put out music while she had everyone’s attention. And that can leave anyone jaded; being a 21 year old hasbeen.

Kenya’s entertainment scene is littered with examples of singers and musicians who were at the top of the apex at one point or another only to be knocked off when they got complacent. you know the type, they walk into events expecting attention and constantly talk about the glory days when “kukuwa celeb ilikuwa kitu cha maana!” -the type exclusively found at open bar events.
And then in Kenya, there are those who for one reason or another, left for the diaspora. Whenever they return, they do so to find that the entire landscape has changed. And Kenyans are an unforgiving lot. They refuse to recognize you. If anything, when they do, it’s simply to spite you with offhand remarks or backhanded compliments.
Kenya actually has the distinction of being the only country in which the landscape is littered with 21 year old has beens! What notoriety! But in a way I guess that this is a good thing -silver linings and all that- because it means that one must always strive to be relevant and that keeps entertainment sites such as Ghafla at the heart of entertainment! Not just as reporters but as trend spotters and analysts.
Yesterday, Smirnoff decided to bring the beach to the good people who patronize Tortilla i.e USIU students and what a plan that turned out to be! The Party was one for the days. Beautiful women (isn’t USIU known to be the campus with the most beautiful students anyway?) and awesome DJs. Check out part two photos of how epic the party was;
