Forget Kanye West’s ‘Famous’ Here Are Kenya’s Most Controversial Music Videos. Number 6 Is a Gospel Artiste

Since it premiered at ‘The Forum’ in Los Angeles and streamed on Tidal last Friday, people cannot stop talking about Kanye West’s NSFW music video ‘Famous’

The video showcases Bill Cosby, Taylor Swift, Caitlyn Jenner, Ray J, Kim Kardashian, Amber Rose, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour, George W. Bush and Kanye West all lying naked on a giant bed.

The video has caused controversy with some people who found it disrespectful and invasive since some of the celebrities featured did not consent to it.

While others like Lena Dunham called it ‘one of the more disturbing “artistic” efforts in recent memory.’

As Kanye’s video continues to trend due to the controversy it garnered , today we look at some videos which have been controversial in the 254

1. Nishike by Sauti Sol

‘Nishike’ was the epitome of ‘good boys gone bad’ by Kenyan standards as the boys sang about sex and looked like ripped sex gods in the video.

By international standards, this video was child’s play but it caused such a huge fuss here that they lost some fans and lost some corporate endorsements.

All that over a shirtless video!

Controversy really sells as the video has close to 2 Million views on You Tube

{youtube}KYFQRuqQ7EM{/youtube}

2. Mfalme wa Mapenzi- Sanaipei Tande

2014 was a steamy year as ‘Mfalme Wa Mapenzi’ dropped soon after ‘Nishike’ showcasing a sexy Sanaipei Tande gyrating in lingerie in one scene and soaking up in a bathtub in another.

Again, by Kenyan standards this was steamy and indecent.’

{youtube}0vRpq3oJQcU{/youtube}

3. Blaqy’s Money Maker

Maybe this video was controversial because it was tastelessly done. In one scene a greased up Risper Faith shakes her money maker and writhes on a table much to the chagrin of viewers who thought it was a tad too much.

The lazy lyrics did not seem to help the video but controversy aside, this video went viral.

{youtube}o9mAxagA8Gk{/youtube}

4. Juala by Circute and Joel

Way before ‘Nishike’ and ‘Mfalme wa Mapenzi’ there was Manyake (Juala) that hoped to encourage the youth to used condoms to protect themselves from diseases. The message however seemed to get lost in the ‘balloon zina maji’ and other raunchy lyrics that had parents up in arms.

{youtube}udOe4TSt5_E{/youtube}

5. We Kamu-Nonini

Back in the day, Nonini knew how to get parents all turnt up over his bawdy lyrics.

Before these other youngins’ Nonini was the original king of controversy with lyrics like ‘ushawahi guzwa mahali ukasikia kukojoa’ driving parents crazy.

{youtube}dduIq3zMBag{/youtube}

6. Missi-Willy Paul

The backlash mainly came from the gospel industry simply because it was shot in a club setting and had liquor bottles .

All in all it was actually a good song.

The Late Jacob Juma Predicted The Sacking Of Dennis Itumbi Three Months Ago. I Mean really, look at This

The late Jacob Juma was a man of many predictions and revelations some which turned out to be true.

Some have come to be confirmed when he was already dead including the most recent case when he mentioned Angela Angwenyi to be among those who siphoned money from NYS. Then it was thought to be just another false alarm only for the auditor general to confirm it with his report.

Given that he used the online platform he had many clashes with Dennis Itumbi the former director of digital and diaspora communications for the state.

In one of the many run-ins, Jacob Juma told the former PSCU man his days were numbered. This is what he posted and many have been surprised after it came true wondering just how well informed the man was.

Dog Saves Elderly Woman From Rape In A Maize Plantation

A dog in Uasin Gishu has proved to be an unlikely hero after its coincidental intervention helped save an elderly woman from a rape ordeal.

The elderly woman, 74 years of age was walking heading to her son’s residence in Chepsiria sub-location when she was pounced upon by a man from behind who dragged her to a maize plantation while attempting to undress her.

She was however saved when a dog which had been trailing her followed them to the scene scaring off the would be rapist who took off thinking they were being trailed.

The granny gave a description of her attacker which led to his pursuit as he was suspected to have been a close neighbour. She is very much thankful for the dog’s intervention saving from what would have been a scarring ordeal.

Browsers Eating Into Your Credit Once Bundles Run Out is No More After Safaricom Introduces This Curtailing Measures

Have you gotten sick and tired of browsers eating into credit after bundles run out? Worry no more as Safaricom has stepped in, finally…….

Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) yesterday unveiled a suite of products designed to enhance experience for customers on its network.

The tools – which aim to hand customers more control on how they use voice, data or value added resources on the network – include the Safaricom Guarantee, My Data Manager and My Subscriptions, all of which are freely available on any handset in the country.

“Over the last few years, we have invested an average Sh30 billion a year to build the best network for Kenya. However, we are aware there is a great deal of opportunity to enhance the experience on our network for our customers. The collection of products we are launching today aim to provide our customers with increased control over the services they use on our network,” said Bob Collymore, CEO, Safaricom.

As a service that will enable the company to offer refunds to customers should they experience a network disconnection, the Safaricom Guarantee will leverage the extensive investments Safaricom has made in building the most advanced network in the country.

Through the first-of-its-kind promotion, Safaricom has committed to refund customers with up to one (1) minute of talk time if they experience a network disconnection during local calls to other Safaricom subscribers.

Bob_2.jpg

“As the sector continues to evolve and focus shifts to quality of service, this strong commitment demonstrates the belief that Safaricom has in its network and is testament to the fact that Safaricom continually innovates on behalf of its customers’ needs,” said Information Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru.

Safaricom also launched My Data Manager that gives customers power to control data bundles usage, allowing them to restrict browsing on out of bundle rates. This development will seek to resolve instances where a customer’s data bundles run out and the network switches automatically to the more pricier airtime option when surfing the Internet.

My Subscriptions Management hands customers power to view their active subscriptions (Data, SMS, Skiza and Premium Rate Services) and manage their subscriptions by adding more services or unsubscribing from active services.

“We are firmly focused on enhancing the experience of our customers and believe that these initiatives demonstrate of our solid commitment to our customer’s needs,” said Mr. Collymore.

Safaricom becomes the first operator in Africa to announce such initiatives, and is the first in the world to offer a real-time refund for network related call disconnections.

NOTES:

·         Safaricom Guarantee and My Subscriptions Management are available to all Safaricom customers and will require no action on the part of the customer to sign up.

·         My Data Manager may be accessed by dialing *100# for PrePay customers and *200# for PostPay customers.

New York Times Refuses To Apologize To Dennis Itumbi And Uhuru Kenyatta Over Their ICC Article

Since mid-last week a New York Times story done by James Verini has elicited a lot of interest in Kenya.

Given that the story covered ICC, the Kenyan cases, focusing on Louis Moreno Ocampo and the Kenyan President, it was expected many would want to read and there would be quite a huge reaction.

The article elicited a harsh response from the now defunct PSCU while it had Itumbi threatening to sue the newspaper for saying he was under investigations by the ICC. Both parties demanded an apology and a retraction of the statements. However, the New York Times has stuck to its article and issued a statement dismissing any apology and retraction demands.

Here is the unedited version of their statement

“In a June 24 statement sent to Kenyan journalists, the communications office of President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya took issue with an article by James Verini in the June 26 issue of The New York Times Magazine, appearing in print with the headline ‘Trial and Error’ and published on The New York Times’s website on June 22 as ‘The Prosecutor and the President‘.

The article concerns the International Criminal Court’s failed attempt to prosecute Kenyatta on charges related to the violence that followed Kenya’s 2007 presidential election.

In the statement, the office suggested that the author of the article had not contacted Kenyatta’s office for comment. This is untrue.

Verini attempted on numerous occasions over the course of months to solicit comment from Kenyatta’s office through official communications channels.

Verini’s efforts included numerous emails, phone calls and text messages to Kenyatta’s chief and deputy spokesmen and two other aides.

On two occasions, representatives of Kenyatta’s office briefly answered or returned phone calls and suggested the possibility of further response, and on one occasion they scheduled a meeting to discuss the article with Verini, but the meeting was canceled, and responses to emails, phone calls and text messages eventually ceased entirely.

Throughout this process, Kenyatta’s representatives were informed of the subject of the article and did not at any point address it.

A fact-checker for The Times Magazine also emailed Kenyatta’s chief spokesman and received no response.

The statement also took issue with the article’s reference to Dennis Itumbi, the director of digital innovations and diaspora communications in Kenyatta’s office.

Itumbi’s investigation by the International Criminal Court is a matter of public record. As Verini’s article notes, he was not charged.

The Times makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of what we publish. Verini’s article was based on extensive interviews with dozens of sources in Kenya, The Hague and elsewhere and thousands of pages of court records, and was reviewed by editors and fact-checkers.

While The Times conscientiously corrects any factual errors that we learn of, we have not at this point found anything to correct in this article, and we continue to believe it is both accurate and fair.”

“Police Were Under Pressure To Have Me Locked Up.” EX NTV Investigative Reporter Opens Up About His Unwarranted Arrest

He was arrested by some 13 CID officers and taken to Muthaiga Police Station in a convey of four SUVs. Such kind of rare ‘privilege’ is only accorded to hardcore criminals and not a respected journalist.

Many could smell malice judging from the way Yassin Juma was arrested by a contingent of plain cloth police at his at his house in Donholm.

Yassin Juma was among many bloggers who were arrested when Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery ordered a crackdown on keyboard warriors considered to be errant.

In his recent post, Yassin Juma explained what transpired on that fateful day. He claims the police were under intense pressure from Interior Ministry to have him locked up based on hearsay.

Yassin refuted claims he had gone into hiding to avoid fresh arrest. He says he will never run and if death comes he will confront it head-on.

Below is what he posted:

“This is to inform the public that I have not gone into exile as suggested by some blogs. Yes I have been threatened (together with my family) in the past and it still continues from people who think I have a lot of information that should not be relayed to the public. I will continue to do what I do right here in 254 na wale wanashida itabidi wajifunze kuishi na mimi hivo hivo as long as I operate within the ethics of the profession as an Investigative Journalist. I will make it clear here on a past issue ….in my last arrest the police were under pressure from Interior Ministry to have me locked up only to find out that the information given to them was based on heresay and there were no photos of our dead soldiers as peddled by “watu wa Mkono” wa serikali so called digital what? and Interior Ministry communications office. It was an embarrassment to them that they found nothing on me and a waste of tax payers hard earned money to send 13 CID officers and four 4×4 vehicles to have me arrested out of heresay and intimidation and not facts. Kifo ni Mara moja….I fear the Creator not the Creature …..ile siku nimeandikiwa ikifika imefika …there is no two ways about it….Meanwhile I am very much in 254 itabidi tubanane hapa hapa”

Corazon Kwamboka Sheds Her Shady Ways To Become Motivational Speaker To High School Girls(photo)

Corazon Kwamboka the learned socialite has been cutting quite a different niche from her world touring counterparts.

As the others are busy globetrotting, she has been more or less grounded in the capital busy with her fashion store. Occasionally she has engaged in the rare venture like penning an article in a leading daily commenting on a legal subject. Now she seems to have been bit by the motivation bug. She is currently doing rounds motivating young girls in secondary.

She started in Highway High School and will now be heading to her alumnus according to her posts. You may wonder who dares invite her but if there is anything we have learnt with the current high school youths is they have their own role models.

You can ask Matiangi and the MPs who did a harambee at a school only for it to be burnt moments after they left. Here is Corazon celebrating her new ‘job’.

I was requested by Highway High school to give these beautiful young women some words of encouragement ahead of their forthcoming mock exams( which is a mirror of KCSE) as the A student that I am. Tomorrow I head to my former high school Lwak Girls’ High School for the Golden Jubilee! I love my town Kisumu

Kwani Alikuwa Amekaliwa Aje? Woman Celebrates Her Divorce With A Prison Break-Like Cake Written ‘Free At Last!’ (Photo)

After a divorce people usually sink into depression, others throw themselves into work but this woman surprised many with the over-the-top party she decided to throw after her divorce.

The woman identified as South African is pictured cutting a cake written ‘free at last’ with a ball and chain placed on the cake.

The ball and chain is usually a humorous but derogatory term for a person’s significant other especially those that smother the person or clip their wings.

So this woman might have undergone some serious b.s. Today being #TBT we take a look at one of the most viral pictures this year:

10 Types Of People You Find In Eastlands

I wrote about Eastlando peeps a while back when I was still a novice but l guess it’s time to expound a little more. Eastlands or ‘Eastlando’ is a vast residential area in Nairobi. Like every other hood, it has its peculiarities and idiosyncrasies. I’ve lived in Eastlands most of my life. I grew up in Donholm when it was still underdeveloped then stayed with my bro in a single room in Riruta Satellite and Pangani for a long time. Right now I have a two-bedroom house all to myself in a gated community yet I am just in my mid-twenties. By the time i am 30, I’ll probably be owning a ten million dollar mansion in Marbella. Can I get an Amen? I won’t mention the estate i currently live because I don’t want to find whores lined up at my door. Of course I just had to brag. I am Etemesi. And Etemesi never shies away from braggadocio

Stereotypes aside, there is no better part of the city to experience the ‘real’ Nairobi life than Eastlands. My heart is still in Eastlands and I have hundreds of buddies there. I could win an election in one of the constituencies in Eastlands. It’s only in ‘Eastlando’ where you’ll go to a shop and find a guy buying the weirdest combination of things:  “Nipatie condom moja, maziwa ndogo na wembe.” The interesting part is that the guy is buying all those things on credit. It’s amazing, the kind of characters you’ll come across, especially in residential ‘plots’. Here are the most common:

1.       Mama ‘Moshene’

She’s the ‘mama yao’ aka gossip queen. This lady knows everything that happens in the plot, real or imagined. She’s always talking about other people and what they do. She loves criticizing yet she’s far from perfect herself. She’s always keeping secrets of her own but meddling in other people’s affairs. When you get fat, she’ll say you are on ARVs and when you get thin she’ll say you might be infected with HIV. The sorry part is she’s shapeless herself, looking like a sack of viazi from Molo

2.       Broke guy/jobless guy/idler

This is the kind of guy you’ll always find present in your hood. Most of the times, he likes hanging out ‘kwa base’ with the boys and chewing ‘mogoka’ or ‘miraa’. This is the guy that always has problems paying the rent and his house gets locked up by the landlord from time to time. The idler also prefers asking for assistance and small loans from friends instead of looking for money.

3.       The annoying caretaker

Caretakers make life a living hell for the tenants. Their favorite past time is harassing tenants who are doing well in life with petty issues. The annoying caretaker will knock on your door just after you bring in that chick that you’ve been dying to smash. When you don’t open the door, he’ll start shouting, “Fungua! Ni caretaker! Nimekujia ile pesa ya takataka. Haujalipa miezi mbili!” By the way, a good number of eastlando girls prefer action with ‘lights off’. I haven’t figured out why yet.

4.       The hustler

This is the guy with the deals. He’s always selling different kinds of black market commodities. Sometimes, you’ll see him suspiciously looking people entering his house. The hustler is generally a good guy but occasionally police will raid his house looking for a stolen phone that he was brokering. They never really find anything and end up releasing the guy.

5.       Players

Players and whores go too far when it comes to the seduction game. Once in a while you’ll find them involved in catfights because they stole someone’s wife or husband. These are also the kind of people that piss you off. Just when you are experiencing your dry spell, they bring in a different catch every night. To make matters worse, the women that players bring in their houses are always the screaming type. During sex, they yell like a slave that’s being flogged in that popular TV series called ‘Roots’

6.       The drunkard

At 2am, when you are going to take a piss, you’ll find the drunkard guy at his door trying to unlock the padlock. Most of the time, the possibility is always that he had been standing there for the past hour unable to locate the padlock because he’s seeing several of them. Sometimes he gets frustrated and starts banging on his door while shouting, “Fungua!” yet his house is locked from outside and there’s no one in. I love drunkards.

7.       The hot chic

There’s always that chic that most men at the hood have their eyes on. She’s always sweet and humble and guys find all sorts of excuses to knock at her door. The list of suitors stretches out from the landlord to the broke guy. The sad part is always she ends up giving in to a guy who doesn’t even deserve her. Then you ask yourself that ultimate question, “kwani huyu dem aliona nini kwa huyo mse?” But that’s ‘eastlando’ for you.

8.       The noisemaker

The noisemaker assumes that everyone loves riddims or Young Thug songs. The most expensive item in his house is the woofer and he makes good use of it. Just when you are about to relax, you are kicked out your peace by ‘Nyongwa’ on full blast. Sometimes, early on a Saturday morning when you are clogged with hangover and yearning for some deep sleep, you are woken up by ‘Panda….Panda….Panda’ on maximum volume. Surely, these are the kinds of guys that make you roll up your shirt’s sleeve then go ahead to kick their ass

9.       The family guy

This is the guy with lots of kids who are always running around the plot. How his big family fits in his small house always remains a mystery. Try being friends with one of the kids and they’ll tell you, “Jana usiku tuliona daddy akilala juu ya mummy. Kumbe daddy sio mzito hata!”

10.   The misplaced guy

This is the guy that owns a Land Cruiser but lives in a bed sitter. You can’t help but wonder what the hell is wrong with him. Every morning, you see him leaving, wearing his expensive suit and looking all flashy. Sometimes the guy disappears for days before coming back. After racking up your brain for a long time, trying to analyze the guy’s confusing life, you finally conclude that he might be a criminal.

Si Huyu Atazaa Akispin! A Heavily Pregnant DJ Pierra Causes Awe As She Goes By Her Deejaying Job While Her Belly Gives The Impression The Baby Could Pop Anytime

Some say her baby would be a DJ just like her. Pierra is surely passing on some skills on the desks to her unborn baby!

She’s such a strong woman! DJ Pierra Makena is on her last phase of pregnancy and nothing can separate her from her love, the spinning decks.

Kenya’s queen of spinning decks is heavily pregnant, she will be due anytime soon. Women tend to be extremely tired during the final phase of pregnancy, but not DJ Pierra.

The eye candy is extraordinarily active even as her belly has all the tell tale signs the baby could pop anytime soon.

DJ Pierra caused awe when she was spotted deejaying during her recent baby shower. And she seemed to be enjoying every second of it.

Rashid Abdalla, Larry Madowo Jeff Koinange And Other Top Journalists Whose Jobs Are Under Threat At Nation Media Following The Restructuring Process

With the looming restructuring process at Nation Media Group, there are plenty of jobs at threat with many prominent names from journalists to show hosts being among those set to be affected.

Some may be affected in more ways than others since for some what the process means is simply a loss of one show or function. For others however, the next few weeks will probably be the last time they set foot in the prestigious media house. With the scrapping off Nation FM and QFM and the merging of QTV with NTV there will be numerous guys losing jobs and as past experiences in other media houses have proved, even big names are not spared from the axe.

Larry Madowo and Jeff Koinange

larryandjeff.jpg

These two are definitely the biggest names that could be affected. However, they have bigger jobs elsewhere and all they are losing is a radio platform as their shows are going to be lost inevitably. Jeff Koinange hosted a country music show while Larry had his Larry Madowo Show.

Rashid Abdalla

rashidabdalla.jpg

He is one of the prominent names in the Swahili hosts and journalist fraternity working at both QFM anf QTV. His stint at QFM ends with the end of the station but we reckon the merging of QTV and NTV will still get him a spot as he is among the best talents both at news anchoring and show hosting. His legion of fans should also serve him in good stead.

Jimmy Gathu

jimmy-gathu.jpeg

Having been poached to come and boost the ratings of the fledgling and newly re-branded Easy FM, the veteran media personality finds himself out of work again. You can always trust him to resurface somewhere else but currently it does not look like NMG is anywhere in the offing.

Munene Nyagah

munenenyagah.jpg

Ever since he made the switch to Swahili and TV he has lost quite of the touch and mastery of the masses with which he had people glued to. At his peak he was one of the Kings of radio but his desire for a new challenge sees him likely to be among the biggest losers of the new decision.

Ken Walibora

The prominent author and Swahili professor had a commentary show at QFM but that does end with the closure of the radio station. He probably will not feel the loss given his range of skills and published works.

kenwalibora.jpg

Other QFM and Nation Fm presenters to be affected include Eunice Waithera, Karis the comedian and QFM, Chris Okinda, Mimmo, Sally Kadot and Zetty Binti Omari.

DENNIS ITUMBI : The Rise And Fall Of A Notorious Government Blogger.

Hacker. Government Blogger. Twitter bigwig. Digital spokesman. Online antagonist. Controversial blogger. Sycophant. Wheeler-dealer. Spin doctor. Mentor. TNA activist.

These were the many names used to refer to Dennis Njue Itumbi, some unsavory and some flattering. Itumbi was born and brought up in Embu – Or at least, brought up largely in Embu,a sleepy, dusty town some 120 kilometers northeast of Nairobi. A town renown for political surprises, rich greenery, industriousness and a calm, amiable people who have existed for decades in bountiful peace.

But unlike his people,Itumbi was far from a bland individual – He was tenacious, tumultuous, combative, daring, very creative, shrewd, brilliant and a serial go-getter.

The son of a feared High School Principal,Itumbi rode through the dusty maze of a turbulent high school stint to become one of Kenya’s most bankable school playwrights and thespians before moving into blogging and later,Government wheeler dealing.

Few knew Itumbi until March 2012 when he was dramatically arrested by Flying Squad officers and detained in the coolers for a straight four days, with his disgraceful ordeal captured on camera and sensationally played to the Country on every News Bulletin.

Back then,Itumbi was but a mere blogger with an eponymous blog that boasted a tagline that went ; Facts,First and Fast.

He was a astute blogger. And a very adept creative writer and spinner of facts.

Immediately after his ignominious arrest and unconditional release, arrested for alleged hacking of the ICC website and tampering with Witness information, the young man’s star started to rise – stratospherically.

He quickly became of the Country’s most eligible bachelors and had the whole female species of Television throwing themselves at his golden feet.

His online presence became bolder. And his Facebook followers multiplied overnight. Within months, the dashing son of Embu was now commanding thousands of followers who waited,in bated breath, for his daily updates, musings and idle rants.

He quickly became the Kikuyu Nation’s answer to yet another abrasive and notorious blogger – Robert Alai.

Where Alai failed,Itumbi excelled spectacularly.

And then the battle for online supremacy between the two was born.

To boost his emerging notoriety,Itumbi would sue Robert Alai accusing him of falsely criminalizing him over the ICC saga.

The story made news- Big news that would make it even to the NTV version of The Trend we had back then hosted by the witty James Smart.

Itumbi’s online notoriety had just but started. There was more where that came from and Itumbi was never afraid of a nasty Twitter combat with any of Raila Odinga’s belligerent foot soldiers starting with the pugnacious Robert Alai.

Every attack that Alai leveled against the Government – Or Uhuru Kenyatta – was thwarted by a very clever Itumbi who, like a little fox, never missed a chance to outwit the Opposition and drumbeat for the Government or Uhuru Kenyatta.

itumbi.jpg

Dennis Itumbi proudly sandwiched between The First Couple

During his epic arrest,Kenyans were shocked to learn that this little boy from Gichugu lived in a massive bungalow in Thindigua, along Kiambu Road- One of the most expensive and coveted addresses in Nairobi.

And then rumors stated flying – rumors that claimed that the beautiful mansion that Itumbi was opulently living in was a gift to him from Uhuru Kenyatta because there was no way a blogger who relied on simple dividends from Goggle Adsense could ever afford to live in such a palatial home.

The rumors still abound.

And Uhuru Kenyatta’s generosity is still legendary.

Itumbi would work extra hard over the 2012/2013 electioneering period, warding off Robert Alai, painting a perfect picture for TNA presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta and pretty much doing all the dirty and filthy work for Uhuru Kenyatta in a bid to see him secure the Presidency.

Every attack on Uhuru by either bloggers,Opposition Leaders or the harsh online community was met with a stiff resistance from Itumbi and a very concerted online fight that would go down all day.

Itumbi had laid his soul down for Mr. Kenyatta. And he did it with a passion and zeal that was unmistakable.

And after the man clinched the seat,it was now time for kickbacks. And Itumbi would the among the first to benefit.

How do we reward a young man who tirelessly and diligently fought for my turbulent Campaign and election as President? And a man I hope will be instrumental in my fight against the ICC charges? Mr. Kenyatta must have wondered.

By creating an ambiguous communication entity attached to the State House in which I would throw in Dennis Itumbi and map out a rather silly name for his job description.

Boom.

And just like that, Itumbi was appointed as the Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President of the Republic of Kenya. Or simply put,Blah Blah Blah.

No one understood what Itumbi’s job really meant. Or what exactly was he really meant to do in office all day. It was one of the most laughable and delirious jobs ever created. But a brother had to be rewarded.

With much gusto and zeal,Itumbi took up his role. He immediately got down to business – working closely with Thomas Kwaka,or Big Ted,yet another fellow with a job description that was profoundly suspicious.

That was 2013. And all seemed smooth.

He kept barking at the Opposition. Mocking Raila Odinga. Flipping the bird at Kalonzo Musyoka and demonizing the whole Opposition at any given chance.

Dutifully, the man appeared on pretty much all TV talk shows to sing endless praises of his employer and to engage in a dusty showdown with his detractors and the enemies of the Government.

Beautiful photos of him snuggling close to The President would then be shared across the Internet for all to see and gawk at-and Facebook couldn’t cope.

In no time,he even became a full State House factotum, doing pretty much anything and everything for The Big Man.

He became Uhuru Kenyatta’s most loyal adherents, fervently carrying out the diktats of the man to the letter – abrasively fighting for him, defending his Government like a dazed military junior and yelling at the Opposition at all times.

He became a Government sweetheart loved and loathed in equal measure.

And then he became boring. And out of touch. And lame.

He started sounding like a broken record. And looking like JJ Kamotho back in the dark KANU Era.

What looks like a proud father-son moment

His once flowery Facebook page was reduced to a boring Pro-Government monologue littered with humdrum photos of The President and His Deputy crisscrossing the Country on whatever activity they were up to that day -although he tried to liven things up by introducing a now-redundant segment titled Pastor’s Moment on his timeline.

Still,Dennis Itumbi,the fiery genius,was gone.

He became a out of touch praise-singer flagrantly defending a Government he pictured perfect and blameless.

Twitter was tired of him. So was Facebook. And then,it was only a matter of time.

In a bid to please his masters,Itumbi stopped at nothing to represent – or misrepresent – the Government.

He issued many official statements. Many. Some his own. Others, from the Government.

He became a whole ball of confusion – even to his own employer.

The allure started fading away. The man started saying too much. Divulging too much. Talking too much. Misrepresenting his employer too much.

Lately,he became too out of step with The King. He waded into too many waters, got into too many fights, held too many opinions and issued too many uncoordinated statements.

It was time to tame the boy. Time to allow the kid to cool down first. And fast.

And now,as we speak, the King’s staunchest defender is JOBLESS.

Long Live The King.

Exclusive: Even Before He’s Done Enjoying The Accolades Of His New Song, Popular Comedian Splashes Major Dirt On Bahati. Terms Him A Sham, A Snitch And Living A Lie

Bahati is living a lie, that’s according to his former friend turned foe ‘Njoro wa Mboga’.

Before Bahati launched his new song ‘In Love’ at KICC on Tuesday night, he sent invitation cards to friends, family and fans

Alex Mathenge was among the lucky few who got the invitation cards; Bahati and him know each other in depth.

But Alex didn’t attend Bahati’s video launch at KICC. Instead he took the invite and recorded a video titled “Bahati Mockery Video: I don’t attend fake gospel ministries!!”, and uploaded it on YouTube before he threw the invite in the dustbin.

“This small boy has the liberty to invite me for his sham ‘gospel’ music launch after what happened between him and I. Boy you are going nuts.” Alex captioned his video.

Ghafla! Was curious to find out why Alex was splashing dirt on the humble Bahati. By the way Alex Mathenge is a comedian popularly known as ‘Njoro wa Mboga’ on viral Orange TV advert.

alex45pppmate.jpg

Alex Mathenge

We contacted Alex to seek explanations for his bitterness and sheer distaste, and Alex opened up to us spilling the beans on Bahati.

To start with, Alex revealed he used to be friends with Bahati and he’s actually the one responsible for his social media pages before Bahati disrespected him and fired him altogether.

Friction between Alex and Bahati started sometimes in January when Bahati took a sabbatical from social media. He deleted all of his posts on Instagram and went silent on Facebook.

Also Read: BREAKING NEWS! Bahati Goes Missing…Deletes Instagram And Dumps Facebook. 4 Days Later,His Fans,Friends And Colleagues Are Worried Sick.

Apparently Bahati’s disappearance was meant to give him relevance so that he could get traction when he launched his song “Itakuwa Sawa”, Alex told Ghafla. He however took a bit long and Alex decided to take things into his own hands and he posted a condolence message to fallen KDF soldiers killed in Somalia; huge mistake!

Bahati was furious, he was deranged! He didn’t want anything to posted on those pages. The extent of Bahati’s exasperation became evident to Alex when  snitched on him to the police with claims that he had posted photos of dead KDF soldiers killed in Somalia which the Cabinet secretary had banned.

Alex was arrested and taken to Kasarani police station but was later released as police didn’t have any evidence to charge him.

After the incident however, it was clear things would never be the same. Alex steered clear of Bahati’s path avoiding him like the deadly Ebola virus. He even handed over his pages to him to do with them as he wished and he didn’t want anything in return. He was clearly done with this person which he didn’t comprehend anymore.

Like he explained in his video, Alex claims Bahati is portraying a different image to the public while his own true character was stinking, he couldn’t believe it when he received that invitation card. It was truly a mockery to him.

Ghafla! tried reaching Bahati for a right of reply but he didn’t respond to our calls. We texted him too but he ended up giving us blue ticks.

“Prezzo Wants Me Despite Being Engaged.”Pendo Reveals the Genesis of Her Rivalry with Prezzo’s Fiancée Michelle Oyola

About a weekend ago, Michelle Yola, Prezzo’s fiancé plastered clotheless photos of Pendo all over her Instagram at the same time taking shots at her. This further fueled their ongoing feud which involved verbal abuse and two physical fights during the last season of ‘Nairobi Diaries’.

Adelle Onyango called up Pendo to get the tea on the ongoing feud and basically get a proper down low on what’s going on exactly.

Pendo said “I have seen the photos on Instagram that were posted over the weekend. It was not even one photo; they were like 5 of them. It’s so sad that someone has the time to put my photos all over her Instagram, I would never put any picture of anyone over my Instagram.”

She then revealed that Michelle’s posts have been free marketing as her Instagram page is growing in leaps and bounds.

Pendo

So what is the cause of this beef? Adelle asked.

“Beef ni juu ya Prezzo. Mimi sijui Prezzo anataka aje na mimi. I’m actually lost” Pendo said before giggling.

“Is Prezzo hitting on you?” Adelle asked to which Pendio reveled with “Kind Of.

Robert Alai Sings A Different Tune And Sides With Rival Dennis Itumbi After He Got Fired. Reveals the Real Reason Why Itumbi Was Sacked From His Prestigious Job At Statehouse

Robert Alai and Dennis Itumbi are like Blue Band, milk and porridge, they do not mix. They are sworn rivals; but Alai was singing a different tune after PSCU was disbanded, leaving Itumbi jobless.

He showed empathy for Itumbi and his pals after they lost the source of their bread and butter:

” Morning Kenyans. We can disagree but we must agree to argue for the rights of those we disagree with. So Itumbi, Buku, Ng’eno, Kinyua and many others were employed by PSCU as staff. They “were” civil servants.

Now Nzioka Waita claims to have sacked them and disbanded PSCU. What about their livelihoods? Their bills, loans and obligations? What wrong did they do? Did you ask them to “show cause”? Are you just going to destroy lives of these young men without any thought of what they will do with themselves?

What about the 36 bloggers? Don’t you know that you just increased unemployment by 20%?

Every rightful thinking Kenyan must wake up and fight for the rights of everyone including those they have not agreed with. Not even a letter has been sent to the group.

Let me tell you one thing. In 2012, Nzioka was nowhere doing the hard and dirty stuff for Uhuru to be President. Now he is screwing those who fought for Uhuru to be President. Nzioka will not last here. He won’t. Mark this post. “

He then went on to disclose that unlike popular opinion, PSCU was not dissolved because of the controversial NY Times article.

” PSCU has not been disbanded because of the NY Times article. It’s because of the struggle by NSC to shutdown Twitter and Facebook during the elections.

Key State House operatives have been threatening members of PSCU who have argued that such a move would get people off their living rooms into the street.

NSC is determined to make sure that social media is shutdown during the elections.

The most tragic bit is that even Nzioka Waita thinks that it will help Jubilee if they rig and shutdown social media. Government is not like private service. People need to think.”

Joblessness Looms As Nation Media Groups Closes Down QTV,Nation FM Amid Other Changes

Anxiety rocks the Nation Centre after the Media Group announced the closure of a Swahili-only news television QTV and as a result ,the station shall be consolidated into one brand NTV.

In a three paragraph press release sent out earlier this morning, the rationalization process will also entail shutting down of the traditional radio stations at the twin towers media house.Currently NMG has QFM and Nation FM  under its stable.

“In this regard,we wish to announce the rationalization of our broadcasting division. This will entail consolidating our two television stations into one strong multi-lingual television under one flagship brand NTV.We are also scaling down our traditional radio business in Kenya(Nation FM and QFM) and Rwanda (KFM)…..,”affirms Clifford Machoka,Head of Corporation and Regulatory Affairs.

QTV was launched in a pompous event at The Carnivore Grounds in April,2012 in what was described as wind on change that was sweeping the local television scenes. However, the station’s performance has been dismal over the recent years. In the latest geo-poll ratings,QTV slumped to the 6th position, coming one slot behind the Royal Media Services new kid,Inooro TV. Advertising agencies have since shifted allegiance owing to low viewership.

The company, according to the media critics has always been rebranding year in year out with very little to show.Mid 2015,the company went on an earth-shuttering process that saw some radio and TV presenters sent home.It is difficult for individual self-growth.

NTV suffered a major setback about two months ago after their popular YouTube channel was flagged in what was a clear copyright infringement.

On the fate of the employees, Machoka expressed his regret as the move is likely to lay off a number of the staff. He however pledged to help them manage through this tough transition. The rationalization steps are effective from today 30th June.

President Uhuru Sacks His Spanner Boy Dennis Itumbi

Hours after returning from his three day state visit to Botswana, President Uhuru dropped the shocker on his Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).

Dennis Itumbi was the director of digital innovations and diaspora communications in Kenyatta’s office until yesterday when he was shown the door.

Four PSCU members were sacked in what the head of public service, Nzioka Waita, termed as “concerns of unstructured communications”.

The four include Dennis Itumbi, Munyori Buku (Senior Director of Public Communications), Eric Ng’eno (Head of Messaging at the Presidency) and James Kinyua (Branding and Events Director.)

Statehouse spokesperson Manoah Esipisu was retained since he’s the only one who seemed to be doing his job diligently without misrepresenting the president and engaging in twitter shenanigans like Itumbi.

The bad/good news about PSCU was announced last night by Nzioka Waita who released a memo stating President Uhuru Kenyatta had gotten rid of his communications team.

Word has it that the PSCU members were restricted from accessing State House prior to the announcement about their dismissal.

H_art The Band keeps Their Promise To Release Songs Without Their Recording Label’s Blessing. This Is The First Song

H_Art the band made the decision to go alone releasing songs their recording label had held on to and the first attempt is quite promising.

The band just released the audio for their recent hit on Mdundo and it basically picks up where Love Phobic left. The song features heavy bass and drums backgrounds and continues the love theme the band is quickly becoming a specialty in. Titled For You the song has all H_art The Band hallmarks from the mellow verses to the spoken word and fans have already been enthralled by it going by their comments.

The audio quality is good even with the meshed up effect. You also get the feeling that the spoken word is over done a bit you want more singing and a perfect spoken word verse since the song’s beginning build ups so much promise that kinda falters towards the end.

The straightforward delivery of Uliza kiatu and Nikikutazama that has made them so simple and enduring classics somehow lacks here but then a new approach is welcome and this looks like the song to grow on one. At least the group is releasing something. Here is where you can listen to the song and get to judge.

Ultimate Survivors! Seven Kenyan Celebrities Who Have Defied Time And Setbacks To Still Remain In The Showbiz Scene. No 6 & 7 Even Slept With The Same Woman For Relevancy

The Kenyan showbiz scene is very vicious and unforgiving. There is the competitiveness of the industry and difficulty to break in, the hustle for a platform etc.

When these factors are added to the judgmental and unforgiving Kenyan audience, it is really easy to understand why some acts fade just as you were about to get to know what they were all about. The industry has no respect for status, the effort and even the standing. Once the journey down starts there is no coming back at all as ones career is archived. Yet, there are some who have defied the trends. They are not always popping and they can even take a year or more from public limelight but they are always around the business and when they come back they cannot be taken as a comeback for they really never did leave. They have mastered the act of still being relevant even without having anything happening at the time. Here are 7 such celebrities in Kenya who can never be written off.

Big Pin

Whether you want to talk about pioneers, the E-Sir legacy the artists with numerous comebacks etc, Big Pin is a consistent name. It is hard to even recall off the head the last song you heard from this Jatelo but you can be sure it was a club banger. Somehow the artist still gets regular gigs and his opinion is always sought on trending issues.

Sheila Mwanyigah

Sheila Mwanyigah has been around the block and done pretty much everything from music to modeling to show hosting and now news anchoring. She is never going to leave even if she doesn’t always make news, she will be much closer to the epicenter than the periphery.

Jua Cali

There was a time he was the most happening male artist in the industry, and it was quite an extended time. Nowadays, he lives on the reputation forged during such times and the once in a while song he will release. He still gets the numerous gigs and corporate functions and endorsements just to prove that he is the Baba Yao and he has taken the grind to a different level.

Nameless

The master of riding on one hit song per year is the ultimate survivor in showbiz. Nameless has never bothered with an album and will never do one. However he has seen the industry at all levels and always came out on top. Like Jua Cali he is still the man to go to for many corporate gigs and still commands high performance fees regardless of the fact that his recent song is still several months old and came after almost a year from the last one.

Eve D’Souza

When she left Capital FM in quite a huff, it seemed that was the end of the former radio queen. Immediately after leaving Capital FM she went on to form her productions company and came back this time to TV screens as a lead actor in her production Auntie Boss which has proven to be quite popular. She also opened her own clothes store and is still a popular events host. She has quite mastered the art of invention.

Prezzo

CMB Prezzo has used hook, crook and luck to remain relevant even if it means pulling scandalous moves like what he did with Betty Kyalo on live TV. He has had to change relationship partners, involved in a gunfight, been a BBA finalist dissed reconciled with rivals and now he is in Nairobi Diaries. It doesn’t matter how the situation reflects on him, for Prezzo all publicity is good publicity and just like that he is still one of the ever present celebrities in the showbiz scene.

Colonel Mustapha

The unluckier version of Prezzo, Colonel Mustapha has also gone quite the full circle in the quest to always be relevant. While Prezzo has Jaguar as the eternal rival he has Nyota Ndoga, both have had numerous relationships and all had a thing with Huddah and all will do anything for fame only that Mustapha gets the heavier stick for his actions. Still you can be sure Colonel will still be around the scene long after several present acts have gone.

University Professor Reveals How She Taught Her 11 Yr Old About Sex And The Interesting Results (Photos)

Professor Stella Nyanzi is a name that is somewhat approaching legendary levels.

An accomplished scholar, it is however her support for Besigye and her opposition for Museveni that has seen her name become news staple. Her antics and recent stripping to prevent being ousted from office are now part of folklore.

This morning she revealed some curious parenting tip that has sparked debate on just how much about sex and the material used should a child be taught. The university professor decided to teach her young kid everything including the use of condoms and the end result is quite hilarious. From her own words,

“I had the ‘condom talk’ with my eleven-year-old daughter. I explained the dangers of unprotected sex, without blinking. Feeling like a Ninja-Warrior, I pulled out a packet of black condoms. She asked about the colour. I told her I preferred condoms that look like the real thing. Luckily, she did not ask for details about the colours of things.

So I talked about the tip of the condom and how it is important to squeeze out the air before rolling it up the waiting specimen. We practiced squeezing gently in order not to tear the tip. She asked about how women with long varnished finger-nails squeeze out the air without tearing the condom. I referred her to her auntie with long varnished finger-nails. God bless their next meeting!

And then I talked about disposing of the condom after using it. I was careful not to leave out any age-appropriate detail of condom-use for my darling daughter. And then I asked if she had any question.

“Yes, Mama Stella,” she said enthusiastically. “I have a question.”

“What do you want to know?” I asked with a sense of foreboding.

“So, how big does the condom become if I blow it Mama?” She asked.

“Oh, big, I guess,” I replied cautiously.

“Please, please, please Mama Stella, can I blow it and see?” she asked.

“Sure. Here,” I said as I held out a condom.

“Eeeooww,” she made a face at the oily lube on the condom.

“For smooth entry and travel,” I explained.

And then my daughter blew and blew and blew the condom. It got much bigger than the balloons we usually blow to decorate our party-rooms. She put it onto her belly-button and it nearly touched the floor. We laughed at the joke. And then, just as the child she is, my daughter began to play catch with the blown condom. She threw it up into the air and reached up to get it. Our condom talk was over!

Here are photos of the daughter with what she did with the condoms:

Here Is The Latest Kanyari Miracle Trick Meant To Defeat Witchcraft And Earn Him More Monies (Videos)

For all his showmanship, fake miracles, indecency and use of God’s name for personal gain, Bishop Kanyari still amazed quite a number of people by his entrepreneurship spirit and brazen acceptance that he did what he did for material gain.

To Kanyari, the fact that he uses God’s word and false miracles is not the bigger picture but rather the fact that people accept God and believe. He has repeatedly said that all his substantial wealth is from his church’s income and miracles. This time round he has gone over the 310 seed money.

Kanyari is back with an even more inventive method targeting the women who tend to be more superstitious. He has come up with lesos which are spiritually anointed and set to act as shields against witchcraft and the devil’s plans. Here is a video of the pastor in his latest spiritual entrepreneurship project:

Shots Fired At Raila Odinga After He Hosted Little Ida And Her Family At His Capitol Hill Office (Photos)

Cord leader Raila Odinga has came under heavy fire after a meeting with Ida and her family at his Capitol Hill office.

So yesterday Raila hosted Michael Mukono Ekalale, his wife Agnes Lokidor Mukono and their two kids at his office.

Raila revealed he met the family in Lodwar months ago and he was impressed after he found out that the family’s young girl had been named after his wife Ida Odinga.

Hosting Idah Raila, daughter to Mr. Michael Mukono Ekalale and Mrs. Agnes Lokidor Mukono from Lodwar who visited me in Capitol Hill earlier today. The young girl is named after Ida Odinga. I had asked the family to bring her to my office after I met her in Lodwar a few months ago.

Well, most folks were impressed with Raila’s humble gesture until other photos of Mukono family hit the internet.

Critics have shared photos of the Mukono family trekking somewhere in Umoja after the meeting with Raila.

Raila’s political detractors claim the Cord leader duped Kenyans the Mukono family came from Lodwar yet they were spotted in Umoja walking like they knew every panya route in Eastlands. Look at them below:

Wololo! Elani’s Hottie Maureen Kunga Accused of Bonking Diamond Platnumz in Arusha. This Was Her Response to These Accusations

Elani’s Maureen Kunga is one FIIINE lady, so Diamond Platnumz was the envy of many men when a certain blog broke out the news that he had ‘feasted’ on the dimpled beauty.

The blog alleged that Elani met up with Diamond and the two got it on but that rumor is laughable. Simply because Diamond was at the BET Awards when this rumor broke out and Elani was in Dar. attending some wedding.

The trip reacted simply with this after the report broke out.

Diamond Reveals His Worth In A Live Interview… He Is A Dollar Millionaire (Video)

Before he became Platinumz, Diamond’s story was akin to many other artistes out there.

Talented, huge potential and looking for that mega break to avoid the risk of hitting a plateau. However, he had plenty of hard work and thirst which coupled with good management and hit after hit, he soon got to the Diamond Platinumz status and still keeps to his grind.

His act now from endorsements to investments and his music records and shows have seen him accumulate quite a fortune and a flashy lifestyle to match it. In an interview with E! the artist revealed his worth and it is quite a lot something Kenyan celebrities can only dream of.

According to Diamond Platinumz he is worth $4 million which is slightly under the half a billion Kenyan shillings at about 405 million at current exchange rates.  He is a millionaire in all currencies and proof that a music career does pay even in this region. Here is a video of that interview as recorded:

‘Next You Will Hire Street Children To Replace Kanjo Officers’ Kenyan’s React To Shocking Sonko’s Uhuru Park Plans

It appears policy making and the structure of his manifesto might be Mike Sonko’s greatest undoing in his quest to be the next Nairobi Governor.

It has taken five years of ding a balancing act, trial and error, ruffling feathers and donating to every need and cause in the city to have build Sonko’s credibility as the next governor of Nairobi.

Long dismissed as unschooled unproven and lacking the necessary management aptitude to efficiently run the city, his actions and mostly populist actions especially at the grassroots have built him into one formidable foe with a support cutting across all the political divide. The rather dismal performance of the incumbent governor Dr. Evans Kidero has also lent credence to Sonko’s claims that all experience and academic titles amount to nothing if someone does not have the wishes of the masses at heart.

in terms of sheer popularity, you will be hard pressed to find a more popular politician in the Capital and for a moment everyone seemed to have forgotten his managerial skills until when in an interview on TV the Senator when answering what he will do with the traffic congestion in the city he said he will turn Uhuru Park into a bus terminal for buses from Eastlands. This one point has placed him in clash with virtually everyone including staunch supporters. It has also opened him up for ridicule and criticism from his critics who point out he lacks in visionary goals for the city based on sound research and backed with facts.

Kenyan Police Car Driving On The Wrong Side Of The Road Involved In Road Accident (Photos)

Road accidents that are caused by sheer recklessness and impunity are usually the preserve of Kenyan matatus and drunken drivers coming out of their night exploits.

This morning however, the very people expected to maintain law and order were involved in such an act resulting in an accident destroying a parked car. A police car driving on the wrong side on Valley road and at quite a high speed according to witnesses ended up ramming onto a Mercedes Benz.

No casualties were reported but the incident left many vilifying the police accusing them of not leading by example and not following the very rules they are required to enforce. Here are photos of the incident

Caroline Mutoko Rushes To Save Larry Asego From An Angry Mob After He Made An Unforgivable Gaffe On Single Mothers

Classic FM’s Larry Asego learnt his lesson the hard way when he messed with a wrong lot, single mothers!!

Classic FM’s Larry Asego is sitting in for Maina Kageni (Maina has taken a sabbatical) on his morning show on Classic FM.

Larry yesterday made a big mess while trying to engage the audience on a topic that has been dominating headlines in Kenya.

The recent cases of increased arson attacks in High Schools was the topic of discussion on Classic FM. Larry innocently asked whether kids from single mothers should be blamed for torching schools.

Larry poked the question on twitter and soon an online onslaught was launched against him for ‘looking down’ on single moms.

Caroline Mutoko had to jump in to save Larry explaining that the tweet by the Classic FM presenter was an error.

Battle Of The Millionaires…Uhuru’s Cousin And RMS Owner Macharia Fight Over 550 Million Property

Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Ngengi Muigai and the Chairman of Royal Media Services are engaged in quite a titanic battle over the ownership of a 100 acre piece of land near Karura Forest.

According to Ngengi Muigai, he was was part of the directors of Sceneries Limited  a company which bought the piece of land in 1988. The other directors were SK Macharia and two other businessmen Mr Kibe and Mr.Karanja. he says that the other directors would later swindle him out of his share. His constant battles with Macharia led the National Land Commission to investigate how the company had come to sell the piece of land for 550 million to Kenya Re.

Mr. Macharia however has moved to court and is seeking the commission to be blocked from making a rule on the sale of the land. This is because he says he will have to pay back 550 m to Kenya Re and the issues raised by Muigai and his witnesses to the National Land Commission were done in his absentia.

However, Muigai has countered this saying not only was Macharia present but also he participated in the NLC proceedings. The two have been engaged in a battle for the land’s ownership since 1991 and now the fight has moved from NLC to the courts whose ruling on Macharia’s petition is awaited with 550 million at stake.
