Ezekiel Mutua recently had a chance to exert sweet, sweet revenge on a journalist who said that he would never get to the U.S.A due to the banning of LGBT content in Kenya.

He shocked his Facebook followers when he decided to audaciously flaunt his diplomatic passport before bragging about how well connected he is.

His followers were shocked that a man of his standing can flaunt a passport like a socialite while others wondered out loud if his acquisition of the diplomatic passport was actually legal.

“Well, I not only got it but it came on a Diplomatic Passport and I didn’t even have to go to the Embassy for biometrics or pay the visa application fee. Alfred Olango met his death after his sister called 911 three times after noticing that her brother was behaving erratically. But this call proved fatal as the police shot down the mentally ill man in the streets of El Cajon, San Diego, California.

Witnesses and Olango’s family said that the police came and tasered Olango before shooting him severally.

His sister Sarah who was with him at that time told Alfred not to put his hand in his pocket and asked the police not to shoot the brother .But they did.

“I did not call the officers so they could kill my brother in front of me. These people just messed me up for life. How are they just going to shoot my brother just in front of me? And I told them why can’t you use a taser gun? Shoot his legs!”A tearful Sarah said.

Following this incident protesters have taken to the streets of El Cajon in protest over this death.

Royal Media Services (RMS) has recently lost one of their most popular presenters close to a year after poaching him from Media Max.

Kelvin Migongo a.k.a Kijana Patpat is the man behind one of the most listened to reggae shows in Kenya; Karibbean Connection which grew its wings at Milele F.M. The show which ran from 10 a.m to 2. p.m catapulted him into fame, thus earning him a job at Hot 96.

But the young man had his last day at Hot 96 this Tuesday.

Kijana Pat Pat will be heading to Qwetu Radio as the Head of Production while doubling as a reggae presenter every Saturday. He is expected to start his job on 3rd October.

The month of September has ended on a grave note following the death of long-serving media personality Waweru Mburu.

News of this tragedy broke out on Twitter and other social media sites and reliable sources have confirmed that he passed away after a brave battle with Gastric cancer at the MP Shah Hospital.

Waweru will be remembered for the wildly-popular Yaliyotendeka show that had listeners glued to their radio .

Citizen TV’s Mike Njenga and Robert Alai joined fans that have thronged to social media to mourn the radio legend.

Diamond Platinumz bought a luxurious house for his wife Zari Hassan.

For many, this was a guilty present coming on Zari’s birthday designed to make up for his philandering ways. If that is the case, then it is quite an expensive way for making up. Diamond Platinumz went shopping in Morelata Pretoria and got the house from an online trading site making the payment last Thursday.

The house had been set at the price of 2,480,000 South African rand which translates to about 18 million shillings. The house comes with five bedrooms. Three lounges, two garages, servant quarters and a swimming pool.

Seated in his taxi at the Galito’s taxi bay along Moi Avenue, Nairobi, Meshack Ochieng’ was pondering on where he would get money to fulfil his bank commitment of repaying a loan he took to finance his taxi business.

As an independent taxi driver, these are tough times in the industry for Ochieng’. There is a proliferation of taxi hailing apps that have dealt a big blow to the traditional taxi operators. The customer numbers are dwindling and with that the daily earnings. The end of the month was fast approaching and he still had not made enough money to pay his monthly instalment.

 But on Sunday, September 25th, 2016, two hours before the start of the weekly Pambazuka Live Draw, he decided to purchase a Pambazuka National Lottery. He had been playing the lottery for a while though the much he had won was Ksh4,000.

Lady Luck was to nonetheless smile upon him on this day since, after the live draw was conducted, Ochieng’ was a lucky winner of Ksh109,982. He had correctly matched five out of the six lucky winning numbers.

“I cannot explain the feeling at that moment. Immediately I saw the message, I showed it to my brother who asked me to send him Ksh2,000 via M-pesa,” quips Ochieng’.

 Ochieng’ straightaway knew what he would do with the cash. The heavy load of seeking means through which he would get his loan’s monthly installment had been lifted. “From the win, I will easily pay two months installment and still have some change to put into savings,” he says with a grin.

 Knowing that he was a whisker away from winning Ksh11 million mini-jackpot, he says he will continue playing as he aims to win not only the winning jackpot, but also the overall jackpot that currently stands at over Ksh100 million.

Last week, American hunk Trey Songz jetted into the country for Coke Studio Africa where he was to feature as the main act.

Coke Studio is a non-competitive music show that brings together diverse African music talent for world-class showcases, while giving upcoming artistes the opportunity to work with some of the best local and international music and production talent. 

This year’s edition saw artistes from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Togo, Ghana, Cameroon and Ivory Coast come together for this continental show.

Crowd favorite Vanessa Mdee was also in the country and got to spend some quality time with Trey Songz, snuggling up to him in some photos and a video. Pictures that had people claiming that the Tanzanian beauty was cheating on her Tanzanian boyfriend Jux Juma with ‘Mr. Steal Your Girl’

Vanessa has now come out to hotly refute these rumors. Speaking to Bongo 5 Vanessa said “The video and pictures going around are misinterpreted, I worked for MTV and had met Trey before, we were cool then and are cool now.I respect him [Trey Songz], Juma and all our fans.”

She then went on to add that these rumors have been spurred by enemies of progress, “ Being a female artist in Africa, people are always waiting for any opportunity to tarnish ones image , and disregard years of hardwork and success. Watch this space am about to give them more. Kazi tu.”

Zari Hassan recently celebrated her birthday in the most grand of ways with her husband Diamond and her daughter in Zanzibar.

Wema, Diamond’s ex is celebrating her birthday today and Diamond’s mum and sister have taken to social media to celebrate Tanzania’s sweetheart.

 

This has caused a flurry of reactions on social media with many interpreting this as Zari has a strained relationship with the in-laws and Wema is their preferred choice.Mainly because the two did not wish Zari a ‘Happy Birthday’ on social media and they were conspicuously missing in action at Zari Hassan’s glamorous party in Zanzibar.

Last Sunday a Rongai matatu caused an accident that took the lives of four passengers on board. A first year student of Multimedia University was among victims who perished.

At least 7 students of Multimedia University were on board the ill-fated Rongai matatu that caused the grisly road accident in Langata last Sunday.

One of the students succumbed to her injuries while 6 others sustained serious injuries. Cynthia Akoth, a First Year student at Multimedia University, passed on at the Kenyatta National Hospital where she had rushed to receive treatment.

The deceased had only been at the varsity for three weeks; she was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Applied Communication.

Her death sparked demonstrations yesterday, Multimedia University students blocked a section of Magadi road and lit bonfires paralyzing transport to and from Rongai. Police had to be called in to restore order.

When the 13 km Outer Ring road is complete, then Thika Road (or is it super highway) will definitely lose its glory.

Overpasses and underpasses are on the 13 kilometer stretch of road, as in the perennial traffic will simply be a thing of the past. Outer Ring Road links Thika Road at Allsops and Airport North Road at Taj Mall in Embakasi.

President Uhuru launched the expansion of Outer Ring road in January 22^nd 2015. The construction of Kenya’s most modern road was financed by the European Union (EU).

Even though the construction of Outer Ring road was meant to last for 3 years, the beauty of the 13 Km road is already conspicuous from the sections that have been completed or nearing completion.

A 75 year old man in Nyeri County has been mauled to death by vicious trained German shepherd dogs.

The old man identified as Francis Mathenge was accompanying his cousin and relatives visiting his cousin who had just undergone surgery. Along the way near his cousin’s house he was left behind and entered the wrong compound mistakenly. Unfortunately, the owner of the compound had left his German shepherds dogs unchained to protect the home.

The old man was viciously attacked by the dogs tearing his clothes and fatally biting his neck repeatedly. His relatives, on noticing that he had taken long to arrive, got out and heard the man’s cries and the ferocious dogs barking. They came into the compound and with the help of other neighbors took almost half an hour to restrain the dogs and free the old man.

By now the old man had passed out. He was taken to Nyeri County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Here are some of the photos of the unfortunate incident.

Memories of “Gerrarra Here” exclamation resurfaced yesterday when former Citizen TV anchor claimed people in America always tell her she reminded them of US First Lady Michelle Obama.

“Quite a number of people, especially on my visits to the US, have told me I remind them of Michelle Obama (greatest compliment ever!). I always believed that was more about soul and spirit than actual looks, but based on this pic I am rethinking that!” Julie Gichuru captioned a photo of Michelle Obama.

It’s not clear whether she meant she mirrors the US First Lady in terms of physical appearance, character-wise or accomplishment.

But from the reaction on social media, Julie has nothing in common with Michelle. Kenyans unapologetically trolled her for making a fool out of them; some were sarcastically wondering whether they needed a special magnifying glass to see the similarities Julie claimed she shared with President Obama’s wife.
