Now that Groove Awards are here, it’s time Kenyan Gospel artistes were told the truth…the  hard simple and plain truth.

Well, no one is better placed to do this than one of the founders of the biggest awards in Kenya currently, Talanta Awards. The founder of the awards has added her voice on the current issue concerning the behavior of some modern day artists behavior and music. According to Meggie Waruri the Talanta Founder, artists actions have affected how they are viewed and even their chances at awards as well. Here is what she said,

The masses/fans dictate your lifestyle, you live according to their expectation, they place demands on your daily life. You run around looking all flashy on the outside while you know very well you are broke within your Spirit, your soul and your pocket too. I insist, if there is a point,a truth, IT always proves itself there is no reason to work so hard proving it.

If you find yourself working so hard to prove a point just know there is None in the first place. Maturity is living your authentic self, connected to the ONLY One who holds your future, Living ONLY according to His dictates and that is the fullness of Life He, Jesus died for. To have our body soul and Spirit in Harmony free and whole, Its the Long route traveled by the daring few but their FRUITS are evident, their fruits bear witness to their authenticity in God and self. The masses make you a “star” and break you to pieces shortly. Superstars in holly wood rise and fall hard on the same distortion. The enemy and his CAHOOTS have absolutely NOTHING for free. his cahoots are those he uses to reinforce diabolical strongholds of cultural belief systems. Hand outs make you their slave, flashy blings add value to No One, Value is what you carry within; When you put effort where it matters then mature is added to your name. God gives Gifts, He will sustain them and open doors that no man can close. The FRUITS of the spirit in us take us through at Gods’ pace, not ours or fans. Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko is perhaps the busiest law maker in Kenya. Apart from his usual duties in parliament, he also meets the electorate on a regular basis, but last Saturday the story was different.

Every Tuesdays, city residents stream in to Mike Sonko’s office on the 25th floor of KICC as early as 5:30 in the morning.

Sonko has to beat the morning cold and make his way to the office to meet his guests and attend to their needs. The Senator also responds to emergencies e.g accidents that occur in the city on a regular basis.

Apart from that, the Nairobi Senator also has to show up in parliament to represent Nairobians in the deliberations of the Senate.

Lots of work for him right?? Anyway, Sonko still manages to dedicate a portion of his super busy schedule for recreation.

The philanthropic lawmaker was last Saturday spotted at the expansive Chaka Ranch in Nyeri County taking part in adrenaline rush sport. Sonko raced a quad bike on the rugged terrain on the ranch.

The escapade at Chaka Ranch offered him a brief break from his tedious duties. He drove back to the city in high spirits and later on we heard he was at KNH to see a Kenyan girl who was severely burnt by her employer in the Middle East.

Chipukeezy was slated to walk down the aisle with his sizzling hot fiancé sometimes in November last year.

Wahu and Cindi Sanyu from Uganda recently released a new hit, and as expected they were touring radio stations in order to promote the new jam.

Wahu was recently at Radio Maisha where she got to talk about her new track with the dynamic breakfast show duo, Alex Mwakideu and Jalang’o.

After the show, they shared a photo where they each planted a slight kiss on a chuckling Wahu, a photo that triggered quite the reaction from their fans who jokingly accused them of ‘fiising’ on Nameless’ wife.

TPF romance?? Ian Mbugua spoke to Ghafla! about Juliana Kanyomozi’s pregnancy!

Leading Ugandan entertainment site, Big Eye, reported that former Tusker Project Fame judge Ian Mbugua was the alleged baby daddy of Juliana Kanyomozi’s unborn child.

“Former Tusker Project Fame judge allegedly responsible for Juliana Kanyomozi’s pregnancy” Big Eye titled their headline.

To start with, Juliana hasn’t publicly confirmed she’s pregnant leave alone being knocked up by Ian Mbugua.

The Ugandan singer lost her only child, Keron Raphael, who passed on at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi in 2014.

Ugandan blogs have reported that Juliana is pregnant with another child, and Big Eye even hinted who’s responsible for Juliana’s pregnancy.

Big Eye says Ian and Juliana have been dating secretly and that the songbird was even planning to travel to Nairobi where she will deliver her child.

Ghafla! contacted Ian to clarify the claim and he was totally amused though he didn’t deny or confirm he was a dad to be.

“Yes I am (referring to whether he heard about Big Eye’s claim). Had a good laugh. I really really really hope you’re not going to ask me to comment.” Ian responded to Ghafla’s question.

From the gesture, Ian obviously denied impregnating Juliana Kanyomozi.

There have been claims that Octopizzo had split with his baby mama and that they were fighting a court battle over child custody. Ghafla! had a chat with Octo and he laid it bear as to what was really happening.

The plight of Mary Kibwana Kamango has prompted Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to plan for peaceful demonstrations against Lebanese and Saudi embassies in Nairobi to demand for their immediate closure.

The Nairobi Senator dispatched his ambulance to pick Mary from JKIA and take her to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.

Mary was SEVERELY burnt by her employer in the Middle East. Sonko revealed her evil boss deliberately set her on fire on 17^th April 2016 as she was going about her chores.

“Our investigation revealed that on 17th April 2016 while Mary was attending to her normal duties her employer deliberately set up the gas cylinder causing fire that injured her severely.

Despite her calls for help, she was neglected and ignored only to be rescued by a neighbour who managed to put off the fire. Later that day, her mobile phone was confiscated by her useless employer while she was taken to hospital. It took several days before her family got information of her tragedy. The cell phone number for her employer who set ablaze our Kenyan sister is +962795681190. Due to the nature of Mary’s injuries, she was transferred back to Kenya.” Sonko wrote in part.

How many times do you put the words excellence and Kenyan artist together in a sentence and actually feel it’s well deserved? None right? And I can’t blame you, most of the time Kenyan artists don’t have a lot top put on the table.

Unless it’s Sauti Sol who have really gone that extra mile to put Kenya on the map, I had really little hope in Kenyan artists until I was introduced to Karay Blue and the likes of DJ Mo, Nazizi, Collo and MOG who have come together to do the unthinkable.

They have decided that their music won’t be all about making us wiggle in the club but about helping the less fortunate in society. In this instance their main focus will be kids leaving with autism. In the forefront of it all is Karay Blue who is right now as we speak prepping herself to drop a whole album purely dedicated on kids with autism.

It will be the first visual album to celebrate mothers, families and communities living with loved ones with autism through music geared towards improving livelihoods for the capacity buildup in addressing autism prevalence around the world.

Most of the songs in the album done alongside the artists named above are not only supposed to entertain but also push this all important agenda.

The album is scheduled to drop on the first of June so be on the lookout for something out of this world.

Popular comedian Chipukeezy has revealed how Sonko’s daughter Saumu played a major role in his landing a job at Kiss FM along Caroline Mutoko.

Speaking to Lillian Muli, the comedian said that it was after a joke he made seeking to date Nairobi’s Senator daughter that he got a call from Caroline Mutoko who was also watching the show.

Chipukeezy’s act impressed many except the Senator who was not amused especially as Chipukeezy aim for dating the girl would have been to ‘feast’ the senator’s money.

The musician from Kisii self styled Mfalme Agwatta had taken the refix game a step up from Kajairo redoing a range of songs from Sauti Sol’s Sura Yako to Gold Digger. His new hit Nyanchama done in his native Kisii language is a throwback to the time when modern music was filled with the richness of vernacular language. It celebrates the beauty of wedding praising the bride. Agwatta was a former radio presenter at KBC before moving on to Citizen Radio as a creative producer.

The arrangement is attuned to his flow allowing for a perfect delivery you get to appreciate the fast flow of Kisii language. Here is the song which has already done quite some rounds on several media stations. 

 

Back in the day, when Vera, Huddah and Pendo were starting out as socialites, they were notorious for sharing some risqué and sometimes clotheless photos of themselves.

The rather winding May is coming to a close.

The last couple of days has seen conversation around the topic of sponsors and how moneyed men are reshaping the dating field to the disadvantaged of the young man with nothing to spill and lavish a lady with.

Well, it appears, it is not just the young men at a disadvantaged. There are cases of young men being lured to the hands of richer women and not just because of beauty but the promise of a better life. The women need not be old, just single and looking for a young stud. This is the unfortunate case of one Irene Adhiambo.

She was married to Edwin Ongondo as his wife for ten years and the couple have two children. Edwin who is a fitness instructor then met the Mexican Deputy Head of Mission Maria Fernanda Camara Perez sometime in July 2015 and the two have since been an item including having an invite only wedding.

The aggirved Irene who quit her job to take care of their sick daughter says she has tried everything from calling Maria to writing to the Mexican embassy of their employees behavior to no avail. She says she has resigned to her husband getting a second wife but fears he will relocate elsewhere leaving her with the burden of taking care of their two children.

The songstress recently revealed who messed her on her big day. In a chat with Standard Digital, ‘Watu Na Viatu’ singer said her photographer was responsible for her ghostly appearance.

She says the photographer didn’t come with enough lighting equipment making her look darker in the photos he took.

Cheryl Kitonga is now reaping the wages of hanging out with Jacob Juma on the night of his murder. Her life has been turned upside down ever since Mohammed Ali unmasked her.

Monday 23^rd May Mohammed Ali dropped a controversial exposé ‘Kaburi La Wazi’ that unmasked the woman who was with Jacob Juma on the night that he met his end.

Moha ruffled the feathers of leading feminists who caught hormones by his decision to unmask Cheryl Kitonga.

The repercussions of his action have changed the life of Cheryl forever. Pulse Magazine reports that she’s having a rough time at her work place and her parent’s residence in South B where she stays.

Random strangers are reportedly harassing Cheryl some even demanding her to tell them who killed Jacob Juma.

Cheryl’s boyfriend is also bearing the brunt of his girlfriend’s alleged promiscuity. He was trolled terribly that he decided to delete his social media presence.

All is not well at Churchill Show as some comedians are grumbling about poor pay! Ghafla! had a chat a few of these comedians and their stories are saddening.

Two days ago, YY quit Churchill Show citing a threat to his career as the reason why he decided to give up on the comedy show.

The main issue that is making some humorists feel sick to their stomach is the pay. So how much do they make at Churchill Show?

A Churchill Show comedian (let’s call him X) told Ghafla! They are paid Kes 1,000 per show every Thursday.

The money he says is meant to take care of their welfare that specific day. If the comedian’s act is shown on TV, the humorist gets an extra Kes 10,000.

In short, if a Churchill Show comedian manages to appear on TV four times in a month, he will earn Kes 44,000 by end month.

The problem comes when the comedian doesn’t appear on TV; if this happens it means they will only take home Kes 4,000 a month for performing on Thursday night during recording.

Now you understand why YY said his talent was too strong to be killed by Computer Desktops; he wasn’t appearing on TV.

The sad part is that the editors are the one who decide which act will be shown on TV and which one will not.

Comedian X told us he struggles with his bills, especially rent, particularly when his acts are not shown on TV which translates to no money.

Even more disturbing, Churchill Show comedians have NO contract with Laugh Industry. They are simply there to perform earn whatever they are paid and go home.

But another Churchill Show comedian (let’s call him Z), who had no problem with the status quo, defended Churchill saying comedians are free to seek side hustles since their boss has no issue with this.

Z told Ghafla! Over 80 comedians turn up for auditions every Tuesday. Of those, only about 14 or 15 will be selected to perform on Thursday.

Given the time that Churchill Show airs on NTV on Sundays, only a few best of the best acts will be shown.

The time frame on TV simply can’t allow all acts to be shown. Z says Churchill has given comedians under his umbrella a platform to launch their talents and seek greener pastures.

He cited the case of Eric Omondi and Chipukeezy who despite having their own shows can still ‘sneak’ back and drop performances at Churchill Show.
