Retired President Mwai Kibaki is in London and is expected to fly back to the country tomorrow as the body of his wife is brought back for burial.

The body of Mama Lucy Kibaki is expected to leave London at 5.55pm on Saturday and arrive home at around 4.30am on Sunday aboard a Kenya Airways plane.

Kibaki is already in London, he joined Kenyans attending a prayer meet for his late wife Lucy Kibaki in the English capital on Friday evening.

The prayer meet was held at the Kenyan High Commission. Kenyans living in the UK were invited to the event which happened from 5.45pm-7pm event.

At a time when many local and other continental acts are moving to SA for their video shoots, it appears that the local audio production is still tops.

This can be attested by the recent move from Grandpa to sign Cindy Sanyu. The lady has been quite massive with her hits. Speaking on the move, Grandpa CEO Refigah was proud of the move and said

She will be performing at Deep west Resort in Nairobi on saturday the 30th of april club one on one in busi on the first of May, Sixty four Lounge in Nakuru on the 6th of May, Twenty Four Resort Eldoret on the 7th of May, then Voi, Kisumu, and Machakos-dates to be announced later. Phase two will start in July after a tour of the U. S.
Cindy is currently ridding high with the big collabo Tempo remix with Dufla and Ndi Mukodo ft Navio. Her song Selekta is still a big tune!”

Her signing will give the record which has been on a recess quite a fresh breath of life.

Yesterday heavy downpour left many people stranded as the torrential rain rendered most roads impassable.

However, hundreds of others where left without a place to sleep. In Huruma, a story building holding 100 units collapsed killing 7 people and leaving the Red Cross, Police and NYS with an uphill task of recovering those trapped underneath. According to witnesses, the two bottom floors of the building caved in due to the heavy rain and the ones at the top followed.

121 people were saved by the rescuing efforts which were still ongoing. The Deputy Governor was at the scene during the rescuing operations and promised to demolish any building that does not comply with the set standards. Here are some of the photos from the incident;

She was sending them money from Europe in hope that she would quit her prostitution job abroad to return home a millionaire. But the shock that greeted her when she came back home forced her to commit suicide!

A lady called Jessica returned to her native Uganda in hope that she would be living life in the fast lane as she quit her job in Europe.

Jessica was alleged to be in the oldest profession business and was saving money in hope that she would quit being a hooker and return home to do something ‘decent’ with her money.

The Ugandan was sending her family money to invest in various businesses but the family was instead squandering her life savings without her knowledge.

Upon returning home, Jessica received the shock of a lifetime and decided to deal with the depression by committing suicide.

She hanged herself leaving behind a note instructing all persons, including her mother, who flittered away her money to pay it back so that it could be used to give her a befitting send-off.

The tragic incident happened last month.

As if a customized bus isn’t enough for their tour, Sauti Sol has added a chartered plane to the means of transport that they are using for Live and Die in Afrika Tour.

The quartet recently unveiled a customized bus that they are using for their countrywide tour to popularize their latest album.

Sauti Sol will be performing today at Simba Club in Kisumu City. The group arrived in the Lakeside City before flying again to Nanyuki.

But they didn’t fly a commercial jet this time round, Sauti Sol used a chartered plane to fly across Kenyan sky for their missions at different towns.

Polycarp Otieno aka Fancy Fingers shared the group’s fun moment on a chartered plane. He said they flew a chartered plane from Kisumu to Nanyuki and back.

“From Kisumu straight to Nanyuki on a chattered plane. Then back to Kisumu tomorrow morning for the #liveanddieinafrikatour Kisumu Edition. God has been great to us. Team no sleep. Like literally”

Nairobi has been pounded by heavy rains that don’t seem to stop anytime soon. The heavy downpour has wrecked havoc causing floods and deaths.

The sight of flooded roads, washed buildings and cars are now all too familiar in the eyes of Nairobians. But yesterday Mother Nature caused death.

Four people sheltering from heavy rain along were killed as Department Of Defense (DoD) walls collapsed on them.

“I lived in the streets for more than eight years after my father chased me and my six siblings away from home. I used to sleep around Globe Cinema area together with other street boys. As a street boy I used to do all manner of things from helping people park their vehicles to snatching and stealing side mirrors”

He was later called for an interview at Ghetto Radio and later made a presenter. But he has not forgotten where he came from. As he says…

“Later on I was called in as a co-presenter in the popular afternoon show called Goteana. I now have my own house and I no longer sleep in the streets. I also have a car and I am building my mother a house in Banana. As a way of giving back to the community, I visit a children’s home every week. To accomplish this, I usually set aside sh20,000 from my salary every month. Last Christmas I shared a meal with more than 2000 street children in Uhuru Park, where we cooked and ate together:”

He has also worked on more empowering projects especially for the older street youths. all these without too much fuss and publicity only when probed does he divulge the information.

“I have also opened several car washes for some of my former colleagues in the streets besides renting others houses. My vision is to build a street children rehabilitation center where these homeless people will get at least a meal everyday and a place to spend the night. The facility will also have a rehabilitation section since most of these street people are addicted to glue, bang and other drugs”

There are compassionate people out there! Evelyn Muchocho adopted Eric Omondi and schooled him in one of the most prestigious private universities in Kenya!

Sometimes in May 2015, Eric Omondi narrated how his foster mother took him up as her own son when his mother passed on.

“So here is the story…The lady in the picture is called Evelyn Muchocho, she is my foster mother. In 2002, two weeks after I lost my mother I met her in church, she requested that I see her after the funeral n I did. A month before this my mother Margaret Omondi was to take me to KTTC (Kenya Telecommunications and Technical College) what is now known as the Multimedia University on Mbagathi road, but then my mum fell sick and was hospitalized, the focus changed from my college fee to hospital bills. Evelyn took me to Daystar University and ensured I graduated against all odds, this (Daystar) is where I met my friend, Dad, brother n mentor Churchill. Evelyn took me into her house in early 2004 when I lost my dad n I lived under her roof n care until 2010 when I finally graduated. Whenever I go back home I go back home to her…on this day that people are celebrating their WCW I celebrate my mother Evelyn…I love you mum…God keep you in perfect peace and lift you forever more. (That boy on my lap is my cousin).”

The comedian was once again showing off his mother as they posed for the camera together with his brother Fred Omondi.

President Uhuru will today lead the world to set fire on the largest cache of ivory ever destroyed at a go by any country. But the irony is that his family has been linked with the illegal trade of ivory!

There have been whispers here and there about the burning of seized ivory; critics argue that the burning of 120 tonnes of ivory at Nairobi National Park is pure PR. Rights Activist Boniface Mwangi is among those with that school of thought.

Boniface encouraged the Kenyatta family to set up an elephant endowment fund instead of engaging in cheap PR at Nairobi National Park.

He reminded the Kenyattas of their involvement in poaching and smuggling of elephant tusks in 1970s, and politely asked them to use the money they got from the illegal trade to preserve the few remaining elephants and rhinos.

Below is Boniface’s message to the Kenyattas:

“Very possibly by 2025, these magnificent creatures will be completely extinct,” –President Uhuru Kenyatta

History repeats itself. Tomorrow President Uhuru will set fire to more than 100 tonnes of ivory. Two Presidents before him, Moi and Kibaki, have done the same, a “fake” public gesture to show their governments’ commitment to fight elephant killings. What President Uhuru will not say, is that not a single person has ever been convicted for ivory possession in Kenya. Ivory is confiscated, a few people get arrested, arraigned in court but no one has ever been convicted to date.

In 20 years elephants will be extinct in Kenya if we don’t stop the poaching.We know the poachers who shoot the elephants are just foot soldiers and the containers confiscated at the ports belong to powerful people in government and in the elephant killing business. The people shipping ivory out of Kenya aren’t peasants but powerful people in and out of government.

Journalist Dennis Onsarigo, did an investigative story in 2014 that revealed President Uhuru’s government was aware of the identities of the top 11 poaching kingpins and was protecting them from prosecution.

Since 1989, Kenya periodically destroys ivory without convicting persons implicated in ivory trafficking. So, as the President light’s that fire to ‘destroy’ the ivory, can he go after those benefiting from the poaching business? In Kenya elephants don’t die, they are poached.

Stop the poaching!

If the government does not act urgently before the remaining elephants are killed, my children’s children may never get a chance to see an elephant in the wild. There will be no rhino’s for sure.

PS: It would be nice for the Kenyatta Family to set up an elephant endowment fund. It’s a historical fact that the president’s family played a role in the poaching and smuggling that almost wiped out elephants and Colobus monkeys from the face of Kenya.

Immediately after the 1974 elections, the Kenyatta family was linked to illegal ivory trade, which was earning the Kenyatta family and other close relatives $10 million (equivalent to about Sh100 million today) per year, as the country’s 120,000 elephants were killed at an annual rate of 20,000! – Source Charles Hornsby in his book, Kenya: A History Since Independence (1963-2011)

It would be a good gesture to use some of the money they earned from the trade to preserve the few remaining elephants and rhinos.

The usual interaction with Kenyan Police leaves many in the public regretting their encounter.

A survey conducted by Cytonn, a real estate and investment firm, has classified Nairobi’s most expensive estates in terms of rents paid per individual hood.

If you intent to live in Kitisuru, Karen, Muthaiga, Riverside, Runda, Ridgeways, Spring Valley or Westlands, then make sure your monthly income is between Kes 300,000 to Kes 1 million because this is the range of rent house owners charge clients in these estates.

If you think that’s expensive, then the first cluster will sweep you off your feet. Rent in Nairobi’s most expensive estates, Rosslyn and Nyari suburbs range from Kes 1 million and above.

The third cluster; Kilimani and Kileleshwa are for those earning between Kes 150,000 and Kes 300,000 a month.

The fourth cluster are households earning between Kes 50,000 to Kes 150,000 which includes most middle class hoods; Donholm, South C and South B, Langata, Ngong, Rongai, Ruaka, Kasarani, Kahawa, Dagoretti and Kikuyu.

The fifth tier is for middle class lower who make less Kes 50,000 a month; Embakasi, Githurai, Kariobangi, Kitengela, Komarock and Ruai.

Poor hoods were not ranked but obviously anyone who can survive with less than a dollar a day (Kes 100) lives in Kibera, Mathare, Mukuru and any other slum in the city.

Four years after losing his wife, KNUT’s Wilson Sossion got a second chance at love when he met the love of his life Vivian Kenduiywa.

Mr. Sossion and Vivian got married without much fanfare at the Attorney General’s office. Today, the two lovebirds invited friends and families to a ceremony at their home in Tenwek Bomet this morning on the 29th of April. The ceremony was to celebrate the blessing of their marriage vows and  also as a warming ceremony.

Years ago, it was viewed as a success for an artist to have a music video, quality didn’t matter so much then, consumers were alright with whatever that was aired, but things have changed drastically.

Music videos are a huge deal today, heck, in fact, music videos have become a quick way of selling more copies of a song or album. It’s no wonder that more and more artistes are rustling up millions of shillings for a three or four-minute video.

In just under a decade, the amounts spent on music video production has sky-rocketed making artistes across Africa to dig deeper into their wallets. Kenyan artistes have since realized that a great audio with a sh*tty video will take you nowhere.

I personally think, there is still room to have even higher quality, especially in terms of audio production, mastering, song arrangement and overall songwriting, composition and structure. Kenya’s most successful boy band Sauti  Sol teamed up with Tanzania’s Ali Kiba to release Unconditionally Bae. The song has received a positive reception, and is a must listen to in almost any party spot you visit. The video was shot by the super talented South African video director, Justin Campos of Gorilla Films. This must have cost a hell load of cash right?

Singer Jaguar famously known for his Kigeugeu hit song, has been making very calculated moves when it comes to this music business. There goes a saying that nobody is ugly, ni pesa kukosa, and I couldn’t agree  more, we have seen how now very polished acts used to look a few years back. And trust me, money can move mountains. I know some people who used to say that Diamond Platnumz had bigs lips and all that nonsense but if you asked them what they think now, the tale done changed.

Anyway, the Maliza Umasikini singer Papa Dennis decided to reach out to Nigeria’s Korede Bello in his latest Wonder. Rejects Bahati and Willy Paul fired back at Larry Madowo after the NTV journalist taunted them in a social media post.

Groove Nominations 2016 has caused friction after two gospel heavyweights Bahati and Willy Paul missed nomination slots.

Citizen Radio’s Mzazi Willy Tuva sought Bahati and Willy Paul’s comment on Larry Madowo’s controversial tweet.

Larry alleged that Groove snubbed Bahati and Willy because of their ungodly lifestyles.

“Neither Willy Paul Msafi nor Bahati nominated for Groove Awards 2016 presumably for not living a Christian life. ‪#‎ComeAsYouAre?” Tweeted Madowo.

Asked what he thought of Larry’s tweet, Bahati said Larry himself wasn’t holy.

“Siko kwa gospel kwa sababu mi ni holy. Unajua mi sihubirii holy people, una understand? Ye mwenyewe (Larry) si holy. No one is perfect. Holy ni God pekee yake.” Bahati told Mzazi.

Willy Paul however had no kind words for Madowo:

“Yeah nliona (referring to Larry’s tweet) we all know Larry Madowo, si unajua anaandikanga tu saa zingine bila kuconfirm, of which anyway ni kazi yake. Kila mtu anaweza ongea venye anataka”

Now, the Pulse Music Video Award Winner- Ndegz ,is back with a brand new club banger ‘BALAA’ . This marks Ndegz’ first official release of 2016.

The title Balaa directly translates to mean Problem, but in context refers to the voluptuous figure of a woman being a sight to behold. The song sang entirely in swahili describes a night out as Ndegz is captivated by the hourglass figure of a lady who just so happens to be with her boyfriend. This proves no obstacle as Ndegz continues to pursue her regardless.

A US police dog was given a befitting send-off that our own human policemen and women in Kenya can only dream of.

K-9 Kye, a 3-year-old German shepherd police dog that served for Oklahoma City police was buried with full police honors.

The dog was killed by an armed suspect who fatally stabbed it before K-9’s handler shot him dead as well.

The dog was pursuing the suspect when it grabbed him by its teeth and the man reacted by stabbing it multiple times.

The incident happened in US in 2014 but photos of K-9’s burial which were shared recently have caused a stir on social media.

The funeral could easily be mistaken to that of a senior person in US armed forces; the four-legged cop was buried in a flag-draped casket and K-9 Kye was accorded everything that a deceased police is given during their burial.

Months after it declared war on ISIS shortly after the insurgents attacked Paris, Hacker group Anonymous declared war on child labour laws, human trafficking violations and corruption through a project dubbed OPafrica.

The underground activist group known for their signature Guy Fawkes mask started their ‘Op Africa’ scheme by striking a government owned telecommunication firm in Tanzania then went on to mutilate 2,532 South African websites now the group has its eyes of Kenya. Specifically the ministry of foreign affairs.

As Hacknews reports, the group conducted a sophisticated cyber attack on the ministry and leaked “confidential and non-confidential PDF and Docx files from the ministry server including email conversations, security related communication, international trade agreements and letters discussing the security situation in Sudan where government forces are fighting the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA).”

Speaking to Hackread one of the members of Anonymous said “We have 1TB of data but at the moment, we have leaked just one portion of it. In few days you will receive full disclosure of the data – We the Anonymous will stand against corruption, child abuse, and child labour! The government of Kenya should have expected us”

Just when you thought Citizen TV’s Anne Kiguta was the only pregnant news anchor this season then appears NTV’s Jane Ngoiri. 

So at least two anchors are pregnant this year, and we also know DJ Pierra Makena is expecting a bundle of joy anytime.

NTV’s Swahili news anchor Jane Ngoiri is heavily pregnant with her first baby. Jane walked down the aisle sometimes last year though her wedding didn’t receive much publicity like Janet Mbugua’s or Betty Kyallo’s.

It was expected ‘something’ would happen soon after the wedding and indeed it has happened as evident with Jane’s belly.

It’s not clear when she will be due or how old her pregnancy is but since it’s her first time experts says she must be 6 months or somewhere close there.

KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion yesterday exchanged vows with his sweetheart in a low tone event held at the Attorney General office.

Sossion has been a single father for close to four years since his wife passed on in 2012. The fierce KNUT secretary general however changed his marital status yesterday.

Sossion and his wife walked to the Attorney General’s office where they exchanged vows rocking white African wear.

The ‘wedding’ was totally a private affair which only witnessed by a handful of friends and family, apart from the folks working at the AG office who officiated their union.

The death of 19 year old Hannah Mageri who is said to have died after smoking shisha at a club has shocked the whole nation. The CCTV footage at the club sheds light on what really happened that fateful night.

K24 were the first to break the story and they said the girl died after smoking shisha at a club. Club LXIX (69) has since laid bare details of the CCTV footage.

The club’s director Robert Mutahi issued an official statement following the incident and he said the deceased at no time smoked shisha at Club 69, according to the CCTV footage of the night she partied at the said club.

Three days ago we learnt about the death of Hannah Magiri a client who was at Club LXIX on Saturday16th April. Speculations are rife from all sources claiming how she met her untimely death. The management of Club LXIX would like to put things in perspective as per our CCTV Cameras and follow up investigations. The lady checked In at the club on Saturday 16th April at around midnight accompanied by two friends who we learnt yesterday are Wairimu and Caro (all Neighbours) They partied together at some point having conversations with male friends. From the CCTV Cameras, at no point did the deceased or her friends take SHEESHA as claimed by rumours and the K24 feature. Even on assumption that she did, then its only fair to say that all the THREE including the person who prepared the SHEESHA would have suffered same fate.

They continued having fun and at exactly 3:45am she (Hanna) left the club on her feet accompanied by Caro and Wairimu. Before she left she said goodbye to one of her cousin by the name Ann (regular client) who was at the club that time.

We have no idea what transpired the next two days when she met her untimely demise however from our CCTV footage and with the help of friends and clients we managed to track the cousin on Tuesday 27th April. She agreed to come to the club. At around 8pm we met and enquired about her last conversation with the deceased and the status at home and this is what she had to say; (The conversation was recorded for reference purposes)

1.From the recording Ann clearly states that the girl never went home but spent the night at some guys house who happens to be a neighbour.

2. She was taken home on Sunday at around 2pm by the same guy with stomach problems and was taken to the hospital later on during the day.

3. She passed on the next day evening Monday 19th April at Tigoni Hospital.

4. Perhaps for fear of the consequences, we learnt the friends Wairimu and Caro never explained anything to the parents especially where and when they parted ways.

Since her death on Monday 18th April we learnt about this incident on Tuesday 26th (2 weeks later) from rumours. Until now, no one has reported the case to the police station and no family member from the deceased has showed up at the premises to enquire or seek any clarification. Yesterday however they sent K24 media to cover the story and our managers explained to them that we were still investigating the matter since we had just learnt about it. They went ahead and featured a story that is damaging without any facts. We will therefore pursue legal action against them on this front.

Having said that, a family has lost a loved one and we sincerely do pass our condolences. Speculations, competition taking advantage and politicising the issue is very reckless, immoral and insensitive to the bereaved. Lets all respect that.

Club LXIX has CCTV footage and an audio statement which we will share with the CID, Police and any other third party who has a stake in this case. Am also calling on the family to come and take part in the viewing of the CCTV. Lastly we would like them to finally file an official report and share the doctors report with the police so that formal investigations can start to ascertain what happened in order for justice to be done.

Club LXIX is a legally established business operating under the laws of this country and we would never sell or stock contraband/ adulterated products that are unfit for human consumption. Most people ask why we don’t stock half and quarter spirit bottles, the answer is because they are highly compromised. This is a move we adopted from day 1 to safeguard our clients. We can never compromise when it comes to our clients health and we will continue to maintain this safety standards because every client is worth more alive.

Dennis the menace has a new catch whom he has been spotted with at different hangouts in the city, especially Langata’s 1824.

Sometimes in November 2015, a young chocolate brown girl caused frenzy when she was spotted ‘bathing’ with money and hanging out with a politician who was said to be her sponsor.

That chick, Julie Marjorie, is now enjoying the best of what retired Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech has to offer.

Their escapade apparently started at 1824 where they were spotted quaffing booze before they left together with another girl in Oliech’s sleek Mercedes C-200.

Marjorie went ahead and recorded herself in Oliech’s car while the ex Harambee captain was driving and we happen to have those clips. .

Those clips prove that Dennis might have retired from international football but he’s still way deep in the fisi game.

Ghafla! contacted Marjorie to find out if she was the ‘official’ girlfriend of Dennis Oliech and she told us they are just friends. She didn’t expound further.

Sheesha smoking, which many young people indulge in nowadays possess numerous and not forgetting major health risks.

From cardiovascular diseases to lung cancer to chronic bronchitis the effects of smoking from a bong are well known. We have heard of people contacting diseases after a long-term use of the substance but rarely do we hear of people dying from a night out with Shisha.

Now, mystery surrounds the death of 19 year old Hannah Mageri from Kiambaa, Kiambu County who died after smoking some hookah at Club 69 in Ruaka.

Hannah is said to have left for the club with her friends and fell sick soon after smoking. She was returned home unconscious where she was rushed to the local Mũcatha Clinic before being taken to Tigoni Hospital where she succumbed.

Blood tests conducted on the young girl revealed that the Sheesha could have had drugs in it.

Shaken neighbors and family friends are now demanding for an explanation to her death and justice for the family after attempts to get information about what led to her death proved futile as the management of the club refused to corporate.

But what happens to a strong lion-heart man who cheats, even repeatedly? 4. Be mindful of when you blow your load. A Kenyan who served as a nurse at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi became a global sensation after Hollywood released ‘Concussions’.

Concussion is a movie based on the life of Nigerian doctor Bennet Omalu who discovered a chronic traumatic condition associated with NFL football players.

Dr. Omalu was played by Will Smith while his Kenyan wife Prema Mutiso was portrayed by Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Prema Mutiso worked at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi before moving to America for further studies where she met her Nigerian husband.

Prema became a global sensation after ‘Concussion’ became a blockbuster though it was denied nominations on 2016 Oscars.

The Kenyan is now a permanent resident in America living in California State with her Nigerian husband and kids.

‘No Guns to Town’ singer is in town but not without drama, the Jamaican caused a stir at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) with a strange reggae ritual.

Ghetto Radio has flown in Jamaican singer Natty King for a concert dubbed Tambua Eastlando Reggea Concert this coming Saturday.

Natty stunned Kenyans at JKIA when he touched down. The Jamaican removed his shoes and sat down on a chair before reggae enthusiasts who had come to meet him started washing his feet.

Thought his feet were stinking after the long tiring journey to Kenya that’s why he had to wash them? The washing of the feet is a sign of humility according to Rastafarians.

 Dressed in mostly white, the willowy morning show host popped champagne with his friends as he unveiled the white BMW X6. He also gave us a look into the car which boasts of top-quality interior with extra-comfy white leather seats.

TMZ reported earlier that Prince had overdosed on the highly addictive drug, Percocet a few days before his death last week and his plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the airport where he was given a ‘save shot’ to save his life.

Percocet also known as ‘Hillbilly Heroine’ is a prescription pain reliever that can cause ecstasy and heightened pleasure when taken in large doses.

He had been given this prescription to cater for his hip pain after undergoing surgery six years ago. Following this disclosure, Daily Mail also revealed that Prince had been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS 6 months before his death but had refused to take ARV’s believing that God would heal him.

National Enquirer reported that Prince weigh a mere 36 Kgs before his death and ‘Doctors told Prince his blood count was unusually low and that his body temperature had dropped dangerously below the normal 98.6 degrees to 94 degrees.

‘He was totally iron-deficient, very weak and often disoriented. He rarely ate and when he did, it all came right back up. His face was yellowish, the skin on his neck was hanging off and the tips of fingers were a brownish-yellow.’ A source revealed.
