The Truth: Bahati Finally Breaks His Silence Over His “Beef” With Willy Paul

Last weekend, on Sunday to be precise, word went round that Willy Paul was throwing tantrums about taking the stage as an opening act for Bahati and DK Kwenye Beat but Wily Paul came out saying that story had no substance. But I wanted to get Bahati’s take on things and lad was kind enough to indulge me.

Why do I say kind enough? Because Bahati is actually camera shy even though he is a celebrity. And he is humble. A humility I cannot understand. He was so shocked when I told him he is actually the hottest star in Kenya right now, the lad thought I was buttering him up. And God’s Chosen Blogger only butters up his toast!

I got him to come through the Ghafla office and this is what transpired when he spoke about his so called beef with Willy Paul:

Ghafla: Juzi ninaskia kulikuwa na issues kati yako na Willy Paul. Sijui either weee ama Willy Paul alitupa matusi kule Tribeka.

Bahati: Mimi sijui kutukananana! Ile matusi kubwa najua ni fala wewe. Lakini one thing mimi ninataka kusema na ninataka sana sana watu wa-understand, kila artist a-understand. God ametupatia different calling. Si think tukonatime ya kubif because hatujamaliza calling yetu yenye God ametuwekea.

Kenyan Rapper Xtatic Set To Perform Alongside Nikki Minaj And Mackelmore!

When Xtatic signed a major recording deal, I was ecstatic. Why? Because I figured it was going to open up doors for Kenyan artists other than just Xtatic. but that was before I fully appreciated how record labels work. And then I came to see that they they have to approve every move their artists make to ensure that they are financially viable -to them. But I digress.

Anyway, Xtatic has managed to land an awesome gig though, she will be performing at Africa’s biggest music festival down in South Africa: The Tribe One concert. And she will be performing alongside the likes of Nikka Minaj and Mackelmore:

Dr. Hassan Wario Arero Finally Breaks His Silence: This Is Why The Artists Performing At The Smithsonian Festival Were Not Paid

This is the official statement from the government on what happened this past weekend and why it resulted in Kenya’s representatives at the Smithsonian Folklive Festival not being paid:

he Government of Kenya is catering for all participants showcasing at the Smithsonian festival in Washington DC and I wish to shed some light on the boycott by Kenyan artists at the Smithsonian festival over claims of unpaid dues.

My Ministry encountered some technical challenges in remitting all allowances before the arrival of the participants in Washington. We were however able to cater for all the air tickets, food and accommodation for all participants and officials.

Allowances up to 28th of June have also been settled. I met with the entire Kenyan delegation on the evening of the 27th of June at their hotel of residence to explain and reassure them all that we shall settle the arrears within the shortest time possible.

The boycott on the 28th at the festival was unfortunate and it was led by a few activists. On the whole bringing Kenya to Washington DC has been unparalleled success in the history of the arts and heritage in our country’s history.

As we move forward energized by this success we, as the organizers of the festival, take this opportunity to once again apologize for the delay on our part and to reiterate our commitment to ensuring we continue to hold successful events that will make Kenya stand out on the global map of arts and culture.

The Kenyan drum is booming melodiously on the stage here in Washington DC as I am writing this article.

Thank you to all the artists on stage for contributing to this Smithsonian Festival 2014 becoming a resounding and truly memorable success.

Thank You

Dr. Hassan Wario Arero

Amani’s Take On Vera Sidika Bleaching

There has been a raging fiery debate in Kenya following Vera Sidika’s bleaching/skin lightening procedure.

There are those that feel that it’s her life and what she decides to look like shouldn’t bother us others however are feel that her decision to change her look is too extreme.

Amani was recently interviewed by Ghafla and had this to say about Vera’s bleaching saga:
“Whatever you are doing to achieve your agenda, you do it do it as long as you do not cross my path. That’s my policy on everything but as an individual I would not do it. I love my skin color.

amani2.jpg

Adding that” Bleaching for me is the same thing as plastic surgery, in my opinion it’s the same as plastic surgery. I would prefer to embrace what God has given me, but if you feel you are not happy with it, there are consequences to all these things which are kind of scary.”

Aibu Ndogondogo: Government Fails To Pay Kenyan Stars Again! Kenya’s Shame Exposed In Washington DC (FULL STORY)

Kenyan politics of kleptocracy and greed came to a head this past weekend at Washington DC when Kenyan artists refused to take the stage at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival this past weekend with the slogan “No shilling, no singing” was the by word. Needless to say, Kenya was humiliated as our dirty laundry was put on display in the heart of the seat of power of the “free” world.

On their part, the artists had this to say:

mambo_si_poa.jpg

We the Kenyan artists offer our sincere apologies for not being on stage as expected. We are in a sticky situation with our government regarding our payments and with no commitment forth coming…

The Washington Post responded to the spectacle as follows:

A group of Kenyan musicians scheduled to perform at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on Saturday in the District canceled a 2 p.m. show to protest their country’s Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts, alleging that their members were being denied payment.

The artists decided to boycott after discussions with representatives of their government, dismaying dozens of audience members, some of whom had traveled from cities across the country specifically to support the Kenyan musicians.

The group — which performs a range of Kenyan music — has been rehearsing for the performance for months. According to a statement members released Saturday, they are demanding payment for their travel and living expenses for the festival as well as respect from their government.

Eric Wainaina, a famed musician in Kenya, said he and others wanted to play but also felt as though the ministry and the Kenyan government needed to receive a message.

“This dispute is about us resolving sort of systemic malaise in the government, you know, it’s systemic rot. It’s happened before,” Wainaina said. “And that’s the reason this sort of drastic measure’s been taken.”

Officials with the Kenyan embassy in the District did not respond to requests for comment Saturday.

Sabrina Lynn Motley, festival director for the Smithsonian event, announced the closing of the stage until further notice Saturday afternoon and encouraged audience members to visit other exhibits at the 48th annual festival while the artists worked to resolve the dispute.

This year’s festival, which runs through Sunday and then from Wednesday to July 6, focuses on China and Kenya.

The group said they deeply regret disappointing the Smithsonian as well as the American people.

“Every artist you see here is a master of their craft who now stands slapped in the face by the Government of Kenya,” the Kenyan musicians wrote in a joint statement.

 altAvy3VJ3yJuwUCxxkNpsv1LLwlj1mXL4opE0czDP9jtL7.jpg

When I spoke to my source in government, it was said that Hassan Wario also failed to honour their promise to the artists even after an issue arose during practice sessions. Apparently (although I must note that this is all allegations) the artists were asked to practice for 6 weeks before they departed and all of them cancelled all their other gigs just for there to be a delay in disbursement of funds. Keep it Ghafla as we attempt to reach the relevant government authorities for feedback.

‘Deciet’ Short Film Represents Kenya at The 35th Durban International Film Festival

I really like it when the young guys are doing great stuff in the Kenyan entertainment industry, since it clearly shows that the feature of the industry is great! And 21 year old Mark Kaiyare is one of the youngest filmmakers in Kenya who are actually doing something.

Just this year, Deceit (Short Film) was nominated for the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria and caused ripples not just in the Kenyan film industry but the entire African industry. With the films cutting edge twist and suspense has made the short film credible across the continent. This time, the film is the only short film from Kenya and East Africa to be officially selected for the prestigious 35th Durban International Film Festival. The film will be showing at the festival from 17-27 July 2014.

tyueu.jpg

Deceit is a suspense-thriller centered on infidelity; things are at first glance simply distant between Ted (Peter Kawa) and his wife Sheila (Lizz Njagah). But the tension rises when Sheila’s lover; Ben (Mark Kaiyare) enters the picture. What follows is an unexpected ending that’s both inventive and bittersweet. The film is written by Mark Kaiyare & Mark Wambui and creatively directed by the incredible director Mark Wambui.

Critics such as Sam Kiranga of Film Kenya and Zuqka Magazine (Daily Nation) have praised the film and quoted ‘One of the very first Kenyan movies to contain a not-so-obvious plot line with a highly unexpected and superbly creative ending

fshswy86557.png

The film is courtesy of Evolve Entertainment & Chromatic Pictures Africa. Produced by first-time producers, Simon Chege & Mark Kaiyare who are only 22 years old of age shows the Kenyan Film industry’s future looks bright especially from young upcoming filmmakers.

Pinky Ghelani Defends Esther Arunga’s Family Following the Death of Their Young Son

Since Esther Arunga lost her son to a staircase accident she has had no peace. From being beside herself with grief, to being questioned by the Australian police and getting hate on social media.

As you can imagine the self-righteous brigade had a field day referring to her as a ‘bad mom’ while journalists have been pestering her for an exclusive.

Pinky Ghelani is of the opinion that people should just lay off Esther Arunga’s business and allow her to breathe a little

Pls give Esther Arunga’s family a break.. They r also going thru a hard time. Don’t just be calling them for the scoop. Show due respect

It’s very sad to hear.. #RIPestherarungasbaby.. All we can do is pray for her. 🙁

18+ Only! “Trapped” Moment for a Doctor With His Ex Turns Sour

Trapped is a hilarious comedy. Making their last show “Dangerous Affairs” seem like a prayer meeting by comparison.

Summary;

“Trapped” has a hospital set-up. The doctor is doing a prep for the lecture he is about to give to an assembly of gynecologists in less than an hour. During his rehearses, interruptions bound; medical staff rehearsing their quartet dancing routines, his ex who was once a cleaner in the hospital comes with news that she gave birth to their daughter 16years ago who is now in search of her father and there is that small issue that his harsh wife knows nothing of the past liaison.

And in the spiraling chaos of deceit, false identity and manic cover-up that ensues, the mission is to avoid the daughter, pacify the ex, keep the chief specialist and hospital deputy director at bay and fend off various distractions, among them a patient from deep in the village excited by the goings-on and an inquisitive police officer.

You are not a ‘certified’ socialite until you release a twerk video and Risper Faith is currently the undisputed queen of the ‘twerk’.

After Corazon Kwamboka became a socialite earlier this year ,in true socialite fashion she released a ‘twerk’ video that had us like:

People later begged her not to subject their eyes to such an atrocity again. But Corazon was undeterred by the negative feedback and has released another Twerk video, covered up and dropping it like it’s hot.
