Traffic Cop Snubs Motorists To Attend To Girlfriend (Video)

After watching this video I could not just believe how patient some people can be. Not that am so impatient, no, but after watching this video, share your thoughts.

Imagine driving on the road then you are flagged down by a traffic police officer who proceeds to ask for your driving licence then just as he starts inspecting it, his girlfriend emerges from nowhere. Then the unexpected happens.

The cop walks away with his lady, your DL in his hand to the side of the road where the chic spreads her shawl on the grass and the two start catching up as you wait in your car. At some point, the cop even shows the chic your DL as if seeking her approval whether it is in order. He then walks back to an angry you but before you drive away in disappointment for time wastage, he points at a hidden camera and just then does it dawn to you that you have been taken for a king-size ride.

Controversial Condom Ad Coming Soon To A Screen Near You!

After all the ruckus this ad unnecessarily kicked up and eventually being taken down, which seems to me to have been ploy to earn some sitting allowances for the “concerned parties involved”. And maybe Uncle Chim Tuna is a cynic but National Aids Control Council has announced that they will involved more stakeholders into the making of the new condom ad.

Basically, that means that church elders and leaders will be involved in the making of the new condom ad. I’m not savvy on civic maters but i do believe that they will be able to collect a sitting allowance as they deliberate.

And just what is the definition of “stakeholders”? Because i believe that as a frequent condom user, i should also be involved in the consultations. I feel that because of my extensive use of condoms ranging from the cheap free things given by the government (sometimes the pocket is weak but the lust is real) to the more high end products i have used them all ergo i am a qualified expert.

That means that you should hold tight and wait for the new condom ad . Read what Jesus had to say about the ad here.

Kambua is Still Standing

The Holy Bible has always called on Christians to be prayerful and remain steadfast in their faith in the face of life difficulties. And renowned Gospel artiste and Inuka host on Hot 96, Kambua knows this too well.

The dazzling singer has just released a new song “Bado Nasimama”. “Bado Nasimama” is Swahili for ‘I’m Still Standing’ and is the third single off her upcoming 3rd studio album, “Umetenda Mema”.

Bado Nasimama is quite an inspiring song, one that many can relate to in the journey of life. Kambua sings of the grace and mercy of God that has kept her standing, and encourages others to keep the faith, and continue on pressing on to the upward calling of Christ.

The song has a reggae feel and was composed and performed by Kambua herself and produced by Salibok & Saint P. Check it out below;

Kris Eeh Baba Headed To Kamiti Juvenile Prison

He brought you Gospel hits like Katikia Yesu, Mmh Baba and even staged some of the most energetic performances at different concerts but now Kris Eeh Baba AKA Kris Erroh is totally on a different mission.

The Gospel singer will be joining Talanta Kenya to raise funds that will go into the purchase of computers for the Kamiti Juvenile prisons. According to the co-founder of Talanta Kenya, Alex Milenye, Kris will spearhead the initiative to computerise the Kamiti Juvenile prison where a music festival will be held To do this we will host a music festival on April 29 at the Kamiti Grounds.

Speaking to Word Is, Alex said that he got the idea of furnishing the juvenile prison with computers when they visited the prison as part of their CSR activities and was given a tour of the prison facilities.

“When I got to the computer lab I saw that they only have three computers for the 35 or so juvenile inmates. Each of them need to access the computers during learning and since Kamiti is a corrective centre, I thought it is is a good to get them more computers,” said Alex

The concert will partner with other like-minded organisations like Princecam and Elfu Tatu

Classic FM’s “Busted” Is Fake. Here Is Undeniable Proof

Earlier this week, some rubbish website posted an “investigative” piece, claiming to have finally found evidence that Ciku Muiruri’s show “Busted” was a fake. David Mugo, the writer of that piece, ended it by smugly saying that he was waiting for Ciku’s response. Well, little if that writer had done a little bit of research, he would have found that Ciku admitted in a court of law that her show is all an act, and that Ghafla! covered that news a year ago! I pointed out this fatal flaw in the piece, only for my comment to get ‘moderated’ and David Mugo even went as far as to call me personally to ask for me to keep off the website.

So dear Mr. Mugo, since you don’t want to admit your flaw, just to jog your memory, here is the article from 18 APRIL 2012, written by Uncle Chim-Tuna that should have ended the debate on “Busted”‘s realness:

Do you remember the “OMG” piece on “Busted” that ran a while back last year? October 21st to be exact?  If you don’t, it was the piece in which the beatiful, creative& industrious *says me all starry eyed* hostess of the show tricked some mathe -Agnes- who was allegedly having an affair with some married guy -her boss Nicholas- into believing that he was HIV-positive. The mathe then proceeded to repeat OMG for what seemed to be an eternity.

{youtube}EbgRB4GKAEk{/youtube}

Moving on swiftly, that piece has lit a fire under not just said the hostess’ seat but under Classic FM’s aswell. OMonday, word broke out that the recording was proven to be fake.

In the assesment of the Media Council of Kenya, Ciku was casual, reckless and negligent. While being cross-examined by the commission, Ciku ”admitted that sometimes she could fabricate a story and does not rely on a real story to ‘bust’ a spouse, and therefore creates an entire fictional account of ‘busted’.”
”She stated that she understood that the tenets of journalism were to entertain, educate and inform. She stated that she was not familiar with the Code of Conduct for the practise of journalism,” MCK quoted her as saying.

Classic FM which is owned by Radio Africa Group Ltd, was ordered to pay the fine within 14 days.Classic FM was fined Sh800,000 which it was mandated to pay to the Media Council Complaints Commission. The commission found the radio station guilty of discussing and exposing an individual’s HIV status on air without seeking his consent.

For those of you not familiar with the concept of the show, the hostess simply creates a scenario (bends the truth a little) to pull a Joey Greco on unfaithful people. It would seem that the Media Council Complaints Commission want to set an example so whether or not the hostess actually exposed an individual’s HIV status on air without seeking his consent or fabricated the whole scenario is immaterial.

The complaint was lodged by a non-governmental organisation, which argued that even though it was not true that the person referred to was infected with HIV, the broadcast was in disregard to the right to privacy and confidentiality of people living with the disease. The nightare doesn’t end there as the complainant was also advised to lodge a complaint with the Equity Tribunal to initiate the necessary criminal proceedings should it find that the radio station and the host of the programme committed offences which loosely translates to more litigation fees& fines.

Larry Asego Uses Supreme Court As Excuse To Abscond Work Then Demands Pay

It seems Larry Asego has the coolest boss ever (I hope my boss won’t read this) because he’s always been on his case. If not trying to convince him to use his (boss’) office for a party, he is demanding to be paid before the elections.

Well, the elections are over but Larry and his colleagues are still malingering arguing that they have taken up roles at the Supreme Court. He then goes ahead to ask the boss to pay them for the days he has been off.

Here’s the rest of the story;

Dear boss, wassup you guy. Yaani you’re the illest. As in post election illest. Not illest as in of unwell but as in of no one be like that one of p-square. Robert Alai Gets President Elect Uhuru Kenyatta To Apologize For Reckless Statement!

Just days after being released from custody, Robert Alai has gotten to enjoy a small victory. Though small, it is still a victory. Here’s how it played out:

Robert Alai put out an audio clip of a recording purportedly of President Elect Uhuru Kenyatta at the Jubilee retreat in Naivasha. The audio clip went viral on the internets. The clip was of President-elect, Uhuru Kenyatta spoke in a denigrating manner about the Supreme Court judges overseeing the CORD petition. He referred to them as “some six people”.

NTV carried the story of the very same clip on video on their YouTube channel, and it caught the attention of Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta who then issued an apology.Say what you will about Robert Alai and his antics, but at the end of the day even people who have had run ins with him can’t help but be impressed by his fearlessness.

After Failing To Shine in Politics Former Sports Anchor is Back in The Newsroom

They say east or west, home is best because there is no place like home no matter where you go, you will always love your “home”. And former KBC sports news anchor Milton Nyakundi knows this too well.

After a short and futile stint in politics, the authoritative sports journalist is ready to get back to the newsroom. Nyakundi was vying for the Speaker of Nairobi County Assembly but lost the bid to Ole Magelo. Thursday, Nyakundi confirmed that he is back in the mainstream media and that his active contribution will be felt in a few days.

“Glad to be back in mainstream media so if you’ve missed my contribution to sport then follow me as I will be back in that business of sports journalism in the next few days”, declared Nyakundi. He however remained tight-lipped about which media house he has joined. Nyakundi is set to start his new assignment immediately after Easter as a sports journalist, his forte.

Ghafla! wishes Nyakundi the very best in his new assignment.

Shaffie Weru Commemorates The 1 Year Anniversary Of His Humiliation At Nax Vegas

One year ago, Shaffie Weru was out to watch rugby. He had one too many at the 10 a-side rugby tournament and things got thick fast. He was eventually unceremoniously ejected from the venue.

We broke that story last year and you can read about it here. But when all was said and done and the sting of the humiliation was numb, Shaffie issued a statement that you can read about here. He infact compared it to the Hangover 3.

But time mellows all and everyone’s hindsight is 20-20. Shaffie emerged from that humiliation a better man. He recently took to twitter to tweet the following statement:

@ShaffieWeru

It’s been Exactly a year since my #NAxvegas Drama I’m not proud of what went down& that’s why I’m coming back a changed man @freshology254.

That means he’ll be back for the 10 a-side rugby tournament a better man. If nothing else, this is the mark of true maturity. Especially when you look at his initial reaction below:

Kenyan Online Radio Redefined

Kenyans love listening to radio and if you want to know what are the major radio stations from this country just browse this list of radio stations. Anyway, that’s story for another day. However, radio has been revolutionized with the arrival of online radios in the country.

Such a radio is Randy & Vamp Chartshow. The online radio is the perfect definition of “less talk, more music” with a dedicated crew that counts down biggest hits from around the world every week. Set up last year, the radio is hosted by Randy and Vamp flanked by an in-house deejay, DJ Fab.

Randy is a celebrated radio presenter / radio producer / voice over artist that has been in the african entertainment scene for close to a decade and he has managed to work with alot of big brands and companies in terms of advertisement and radio production. On the other hand, Vamp is a celebrated and well respected graphic designer in the African scene he has been in the entertainment industry for half a decade and brings with him a lot of experience and creativity in terms of entertainment.

As for DJ Fab, he is among the freshest disk jockey thus far and has had quite a run working with huge names in the Kenyan music industry like DVJ MOBI of monster radio and DJ NRUFF of urban threat radio.

Top 6 Most Inspirational Love Stories From Kenyan Celebs!

Love is passion, relationships are hard work. I personally prefer to focus all that effort into making money and being that guy. But that’s just me. And this isn’t about me. It’s about love and war in our entertainment scene.

Being a celeb usually puts untold pressure on relationships which are already pressure cookers to begin with. But somehow, these couples have managed to weave a beautiful fairy tale for themselves and for their fans.

Please understand that there have been ups and downs even in these relationships but that hasn’t stopped them from soldiering on in the name of love… Ok…. I can’t handle any more emotions. Let me just get down to the list. Enjoy!

#6. Octopizzo and his lass

It takes alot to accept someone who already has a child. Trust me on that. Single parents often find moving on into new fulfilling relationships hard. Octo found someone willing to make a real connection with him. That ladies and gents, is the strength of love.

Pic of the Day: Octopizzo’s Hot Mzungu Wife

#5. James Smart and Remmy Majala

This couple has taken to the internets to declare their love! They’ve been sending each other love messages back and forth on twitter and i’m happy the feeling makes a chap as huge as James Smart all mushy and mellow. I’m happy for James and K24’s Remmy Majala. That is the strength of love people!

#4. Redsan and Delilah

Little is known about Redsan’s lass Delilah. He has done his bit to protect her from the glare of the adoring public. That is actually how i would conduct my relationship if i were a celebrity. But the thing i like about this relationship other than the fact that he protects her is that Delilah has held him down even when he was still on his come-up! She has been with him through thick and thin and they have stood the test of time. That is the power of love for you. Not even time can erode it.

#2. Juliani and Brenda

These guys have to be the youngest power couple out there. She is drop dead gorgeous and he is successful. He is actually the only gospel artist whom alot of secular and underground rappers respect lyrically. And you can add me to that bandwagon. Juliani is the definition of ashy to classy. From selling eggs to riding in a Mercedes.

Everyone had an opinion about their relationship when they went public. The Christians might as well have lynched them and the secular lot didn’t react any better. Everyone wanted to know why he chose to date an individual not associated with gospel and everyone spoke to Brenda Wairimu as though she were performing her act of charity by dating Juliani.

But they paid everyone no mind. They kept living and loving. And that is the power of love people. Love doesn’t care what the world thinks, because the person you want to share your world with is content.

#2. Nameless and Wahu

These guys started dating while Wahu was still in university. She was actually his dancer. And the cheapskate stiffed her on 2,000/- that he owed her for a performance. But alls well that ends well it seems. They are now married and raising Tumiso together in wedded bliss.

A few years ago however there were rumours circulating about a possible divorce but they emerged from all that stronger. That’s love for you. Even when others count it out, it finds a way to rise above al the doubt. It’s resilient.

#1. Sheba Hirst and Eric Wainaina

Eric Wainaina stumbled. He fell for one of his co-stars in a Broadway production that was all Kenyan. If anyone is to blame, he is. Most women would have left him. Tiger’s wife did. But Sheba stayed by her man. She stood by him when he deserved it the least. And he understood what that meant as i’m sure any yob north of 21yrs of age does. That is true love.

Sheba understood that life isn’t always perfect, but love is. And it’s healing. Sheba is a wise woman who understands the importance of speaking life into her man: If you love a man, encourage him, believe in him and be his peace. Denzel Washington said that.

If ever a love story made this love athiest believe in love, it has to be this particular story.

Wait, why didn’t i write this up on Valentines Day? You should also probably check out this piece on the sexiest wives and girlfriends of Kenyan celebrities.

Kenyans Batter Down Tanzanians & Ugandans in GFC3

Last night, Kenyan duo consisting of Francis Ngigi and Kepha Kimani flew the Kenyan flag high in the Guinness football Challenge show to become the first Kenyan winners fighting off tough competition from the other teams from Tanzania and Uganda.

A great combination of the brains and skills, Francis Ngigi and Kepha Kimani put forth an impressive performance to beat their tough opponents from Uganda and Tanzania, after losing to Tanzania last week. The dynamic duo scooped USD 3,000 (KSh 258,000).

In the competition, Kenya was represented by two teams, the red team known as ‘The Hawks’  36 year old Donald Otieno and a football coach in Mombasa  and 22 year old Awdh Mbarak  a student in Mombasa  . The second team from Kenya was  the black team Known as ‘The Blues’  23yrs old Francis Ngigi and 25 yrs old  Kepha Kimani.

Francis Ngigi, a businessman was taking on the brains challenge while Kepha Kimani a Games Coordinator and practiced sportsman, was taking on the skills challenge.

Speaking after the show, the two newly crowned Guinness Champions were all jovial having managed to sail through to the finals. “We are extremely happy to have come this far and to have emerged winners, it’s a crowning moment for us and we are grand that our hard work has paid off” said Kepha, the brain of the team.
The two will have the opportunity to ‘Play for their Country’ in the Pan-African phase of the show to be aired later next month where they will meet teams from Cameroon and Ghana.

High Court Dismisses TNA’s Bid to Expunge Former Citizen Radio Employee from Its List

The High Court in Nairobi Wednesday threw out a case filed by Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA party seeking to have the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) compelled to allow the party to review its list of nominees for the Senate.

TNA was seeking to review its list of nominees so that Joy Adhiambo Gwendo, a former employee of Royal Media Services, could be removed from the list and replace her with Lydia Mathia. Gwendo had earlier cleared with the station after tendering her resignation for the creative assistant role she previously held ,to assume duty as one of the nominated Senators under TNA.

TNA’s national chairman Johnson Sakaja explained that the party had moved to court not to target any of its nominees but to protest reverse discrimination where one of its nominee’s names was dropped. He added, “Lydia Mathia’s name was dropped purely because of her ethnicity. Is that fair?”

IEBC reportedly picked Gwendo instead of Mathia for purposes of “regional balance”, something that Sakaja totally disagrees with saying that IEBC should not be allowed to vary the nomination list.

Top 5 Biggest Entertainment Companies In Kenya!

Kenya’s entertainment scene is finally blooming in no mean part thanks to Ghafla but it still has a long way to go. But never fear, it will grow to become just as big as Nigeria’s in no time. but do you know the biggest companies in Kenya’s entertainment scene?

i’m sure you don’t. And biggest doesn’t necessarily only take monetary terms into account. I’m also looking at clout and presence. I’m looking at bouncebackability and spank aswell.

#5. Ogopa DJs

These guys have crossed over from being just a production house to getting involved in artist management and video production. And they have done so successfully and over a long period proving that they do indeed have longevity.

#4. Mo Sounds

These guys started out as a Dj outfit then they got such a brilliant idea; why not do corporate events as well? And from there there was no looking back! They flew right off the handle but fortunately for them, their gamble paid off! They are currently one of the biggest entities in Kenya’s showbiz right now1

#3. Insyder

These guys started off with a big dream. They were going to supply school kids with entertaining reading material of a periodical nature. They have now grown into doing events and even have their own award show to speak of.

#2. Blackstar

These guys started by organising gigs and parties. They grew to organising the youth oriented aspects of TNA’s campaigns last year and this. There has been no turning back for these guys. The C.E.O Machel Waikenda is now a nominated Member of Parliament in waiting.

#1. HomeBoyz

These guys have grown a conglomerate from disc jockey equipment. What more could you ask for? From mere amusement to a form of self employment to now having their fingers in various business interests related to entertainment and owning a franchise of teams.

Watch War-Witch At The Nest This Friday For Free.

Every friday, The Nest has a movie screening where they show you movies that are hard to come by. I went last friday for the screening of Robot and Frank. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to notify you prior due to technical hitches the website was grappling with. These movies are courtesy of Lucille Kahara’s Muse KE.

The feature for this week is Kim Nguyen’s ‘War Witch’. The movie’s synopsis reads like a gut wrenching tale! The cast consists of Serge Kanyinda, Mizinga mwinga, Alaine Bastien among others.

“Montreal-based filmmaker Kim Nguyen paints a poignant and harrowing portrait of Komona, a 14-year-old girl (wonderfully played by nonprofessional actress Rachel Mwanza) who has been kidnapped from her African village by rebels to become a child soldier. She escapes from the camp with an older albino soldier and experiences for the very first time the joys of a peaceful and loving life, but a fresh tragedy will force her to confront and fight the ghosts haunting her mind” After reading that part I wanted to stop but curiosity got the best of me.

Although inspired by a real story that took place in Burma, Nguyen decided to film War Witch in the Democratic Republic of the Congo without giving a specific location to the plot. He worked on the film for 10 years, watching and catching children’s points of view with his camera and mixing in tightly edited flashbacks in which the spirits of human beings appear with an ultra-realistic and violent storyline. But War Witch is also a poignant and impossible love story filled with magic, picturesque images, and even light moments like the powerful visit to an albino camp or the chasing of a white rooster.

Ghafla’s Nali Set To Host TV Show!

On the 19th of February, we did a piece about Zuku looking for a sexy female to host a show. The show is called Hyped East Africa. The winner would be catapulted to the forefront of East Africa’s celebrity scene and would host the show alongside DJ Nijo.

Well, Ghafla’s Nali Sharon decided to try her luck. And for a reason unknown to me, the producers chose her as the next host. I’m thinking to myself, “Hmmmm! I thought they said sexy hostess….. How did she possibly qualify?”

But what’s done is done and dusted. So now I will be forced to not only put up with her at the office but on my TV screen as well? For shame! Check out some photos of the lass chosen for the gig below:

IMAX Marks 1st Anniversary in Kenya

There’s nothing that matches the experience of watching a movie at IMAX, nothing! When watching a movie in any IMAX theatre, it’s like watching a different movie altogether; great Images and powerful sound.

Everything from the movie itself to the theatre’s technology and design has been developed and customized to make you believe you’re part of the action. This is the revolution that IMAX brought to the Kenyan movie theatres.

Even though the company has only one theatre in Kenya (IMAX 20th Century, Mama Ngina Street) the response they have received has been tremendous considering it has given Kenyan movie lovers an opportunity to watch movies before their official premiere. Friday, the company will be marking its first anniversary since setting up base in the country.

To mark the great occasion, IMAX is giving away fantastic prizes to anyone who will watch the premiere of Oz at the cinemas between 29 and 31 of March. You can also tune in to Hot 96 every morning for a chance to win movie tickets.

Ghafla! Throwback: How Many Of You Remember This Song?

Sorry Generation xaxa, xema, pouwar, qwendar you may not know about this classic song that was always played when you were probably still wearing diapers and feeding from the bottle. While you were at that, there this song that was the epitome of “patriotism”.

“Patriotism” because though it heaped praises on the then President, Daniel Arap Moi, you were all expected to sing along as a sign of harmony. It used to go like this;

tawala kenya
tawala kenya tawala
Rais Moi
tawala kenya tawala

peleka kenya mbele
peleka kenya mbele
Rais Moi
Peleka Kenya mbele

tuna imani na uongozi wako
dunia yote ya pongeza
ee baba tawala

Of course it is no longer being played on radio stations because it has been overtaken by events and no longer available in music stores. Luckily though, Kenya’s premier video library site for streaming of movies, popular TV shows, comedy skits; Kenya Box Office (KBO) has this video. The song was recently featured on the site and brings back the memories. Click HERE to watch it performed by the original creators.

Lies That Bind Producer To Sing For Charity

Lies that bind is one of those drama prone televison offerings that paint Kenya’s different scenarios in near accurate light.

It even won an award, through Maureen Koech who was feted for emerging the best supporting actress at the recently staged Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards held in Lagos. Well it’s producer who I wrote about here will be on stage tomorrow with the children of vision Africa for a charity show.

http://www.actors.co.ke/en/news/Dorothy%20Ghettuba.jpg

Check Out This Video Of Huddah Twerking

Yesterday i posted a video of Shee shaking her derriere and i stumbled across this YouTube submission of Huddah doing the same.

The video has however received more than it’s fair share of hate from Kenya’s online trolls but personally, i don’t really see why. You can check out Shee Waruinge’s video here.

Watch Poison Ivy At Safaricom’s Michael Joseph Centre!

This play has run before, so it was a pleasant surprise when I saw Caroline Mutoko posting about it. That stopped me straight in my tracks.

I just shared about an event happening at the same venue this saturday, read about it here. Now, the first rule of marriage from the ‘garden of eden’ was, man shall leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife. That law when flouted, is the basis for an epic battle. Mother in law is infact one of the most popular programs on telly. But what happens when the problem is not the mother in law, but a sister?

Meet Poison Ivy, the one on whom this play is predicated upon. The synopsis is simple. “Chris and Olive just got married and can’t wait to start their new life together. Unknown to them, Chris’s favorite sister Ivy has a grudge against Olive, because Olive is his new number one. Ivy wants her place in Chris’s life back. Chris on his part, firmly believes that family comes first… but which family?”

From the synopsis above, it is clear that this is a a story line that a lot of people can relate to. Sibling rivalry is what younger siblings undergo, not wanting to let siblings go and start new lives is what adults grapple with.

The play will be staged at the Michael Joseph center, Safaricom house on the 5th of April at 7pm. For tickets call 0725040951.

“In brief Poison Ivy is a captivating and hilarious play about a young married couple whose bond is quickly tested by the intrusion of a Pretty but Poisonous sister.” is how the director describes it. Below is a video of Wholesome Entertainment, explaining what these guys do. The are the people behind this awesoem production, with Seth Busolo being the creative director.

Kubamba Krew Now Also on K24

When K24 raided Citizen TV they not only made away with anchors and behind-the-scenes guys but also some of the presenters of top shows at the station.

Last Sunday, K24 unveiled a brand new Gospel show and you won’t guess who the hosts were; former Kubamba Show hosts on Citizen TV DJ Johny Celeb, DJ Sanch and DJ Soxxy! The three talented deejays unveiled the new Gospel show, The Switch, with a totally fresh idea.

the switch k24 logo thumb
Just like its name, the show switched from the monotonous studio show to have it aired live outdoors, on the rooftop of one of the buildings in Nairobi. It was really interesting to see a show hosted out-side, a unique concept implemented by the producers.

Waakanai Lectures Facebook’s Scanty Women

Am sure sometimes when you go through your friends’ list on Facebook you are left wondering how you became friends with certain people, especially the damsels that have names like Beautilious Curvaceous Mami or Sweetness Hagalicious Gyal and such like names.

Anyway, that’s not the issue. Most people on Facebook, and you’ll agree with me on this, take offence with way some of these lassies who dress skimpily in photos and upload them on Facebook. Among those who have a problem with such ladies is Classic 105’s number one fan Waakanai AKA Big Poppa. The outspoken listener took to his Facebook Timeline and spoke (or is it wrote) his mind about the issue.

Here’s his rant;

Dear Females

You don’t need to be in your bra and panties, arching your backs, biting your lips to get attention.
You think your beauty is based on the amount of likes/comments you get on those pictures you
upload on Facebook; coming from n*ggas who don’t give a sh*t about you? I know you love the attention; it makes you feel good, proud, noticed, & loved. But it’s not the kind of attention you want for yourself… Guys will see you as the “easy” type. Try putting some clothes on, and show us your face more. You’re beautiful just by showing us who you are all covered up, might sound corny to you all but, it’s true. Every girl is beautiful; it just takes the right guy to see it. You are special in your own way!

You heard?

Betty Kyalo: From An Accident Casualty To A High Flying TV Anchor (Part 2)

Badly bruised face

The injuries she sustained from the accident were so serious her family were scared how she would react when she saw her face.

“For a while, my brother and mother would not let me see my reflection because they knew how I would react. But during the hospitalisation period, one day I was being taken for an X-ray and I caught a glimpse of my reflection. I  immediately sunk into depression. I felt like my life was over because I knew I could never be a news anchor,” she recalls with a sad smile.

After undergoing eight surgeries Betty finally left the hospital in October 2005. She was a changed person and her friends noticed it.

“I have always been a free spirit and so I have a lot of friends but for a while, I did not let my friends visit me. I wanted to be alone.” The journey towards recovery was rough, she says.

Betty_Kyalo5.png
“I not only had to learn how to walk again, I also had to learn to live with my badly bruised face. My doctors had advised my mum on grafting (surgically removing skin from my thigh and adding it to the left side of my face) but she did not want me to go under the knife because I had already had eight surgeries in two months,” she says.
That month was spent recuperating at home and visiting lawyers to follow up on the case.

“I would walk in town and everyone would stare at me because of my funny-looking face. This traumatised me and I had to go for counselling to help me deal with it,” she says.

“At first, I was worried and scared about my future, but I reached the point where I stopped worrying and left everything in God’s hands. I refused to wallow in self-pity and took control of  my life,” she says resolutely.
Interestingly, when she let go and let God take charge, she started noticing signs of a miracle.

“In December 2005, I started noticing small patches of skin returning to my face. I did not think much of it but by March 2006, believe it or not I had new skin. The only thing I have now left from the accident are memories and the scars on my neck. Even today when my doctors meet me, they still cannot believe I am the same girl who had half a face. It was a miracle. I became confident and aggressive about my dream. I realised I did not have time to waste because every moment I live is a precious gift,” she says.

betty_kyalo3.png

She went on to complete her studies and joined Daystar University where she studied Communication. She later got an opportunity for internship and it was then that her talent was discovered. The rest is history.

At first she had believed she needed to hide the scars on her neck but she says now she wears them like jewels.

“They are my story. I feel like I stared death in the face and I lived to tell,” she says.

Betty Kyalo: From An Accident Casualty To A High Flying TV Anchor (Part 1)

Mention the screen sirens at KTN and her name will not miss on the list. The stunning anchor even made it to the list of hottest TV news anchors last year. Ladies and gentlemen am referring to Betty Kyalo.

A car enthusiast, Betty describes herself as “a Kenyan with mighty dreams turning into reality”. Easy going. Lover of carsHer journey to success has been a thorny one characterized by many stumbling blocks but she did not let them get in her way to a successful career. She recently spoke to Shirley Genga about her past and it wasn’t as rosy.

Betty comes from a humble background; she grew up in Ongata Rongai and Kahawa West and was raised by her mum. Even though her parents were separated, her father was still present in her life.

“I am the second born in a family of four. I have an elder brother and two younger sisters,” she says.
Growing up, she idolised veteran TV anchor Catherine Kasavuli. From the moment she discovered her, a young Betty knew she was also destined for television.

“I originally wanted to be a nun because they looked so angelic and peaceful in church, but I guess television was more appealing,” she says with a cheeky smile.

betty_kyalo4.png

“I wanted it so much, I would practice reading the news in front of the mirror and I would read it out loud,” the bubbly presenter who attended Olerai Primary and Uhuru Gardens Primary schools recalls.

While attending Kangundo Girls High School, Betty continued to prepare for her future dream career in media by ensuring she performed well in English and Kiswahili. However, her life took an unexpected turn on August 6, 2005 when she was in Form Three — something tragic happened.

Life changed forever

“While crossing the road from Railway Station to Gill House in Nairobi, on my way to meet up with a friend for lunch, I was hit by a Double M bus. I fell to the ground and I was dragged under. I was a mess,” she says. “I fell on my left side and injured half myself badly. I broke my left elbow and jaw; I fractured my collar bone and four ribs deflated my lungs and half of my face was grazed,” she recalls with a tinge of sadness.

Betty was rushed to hospital by Good Samaritans. “I could not walk, go to the toilet on my own and even do basic stuff. The skin on my face was grazed so badly I had no skin on the left side of my face. My jaw was unstable and when I tried to speak it would move. I was hospitalised for two months,” she says.
