How Mzee Ojwang’ Met Mama Kayai 32 Years Ago

Mzee Ojwang’ and Mama Kayai are not only members of the longest serving cast in Kenya TV history but also the most recognizable screen couple. Vitimbi has been on air for 27 years but the two met much earlier than that.

In an interview with Passion Magazine, Benson Wanjau, who plays Ojwang’ revealed that he met Mary Khavere (Mama Kayai) in 1980 when she made her TV debut on Darubini.

“It gave us the opportunity to tour Germany in early 1980s,” he told Passion about Darubini. Darubini ran for five years on the state broadcaster before it was replaced by Vitimbi with members of the same cast.

Alaine collabos with Wyre and sings in Swahili

I take my hat off for this guy. First he attracts Cecile’s attention and ends up collaborating with her on a remix which jumps straight up to the top of the charts immediately after release. Months later, he collaborates with the legendary Morgan Heritage and now Alaine? Kudos Wyre.

Don’t you even think about asking me why I’m already praising and applauding this collaboration when we haven’t even heard this product. Make you know that the song, ‘Nakupenda Pia’, was briefly sampled yesterday night on Homeboyz Radio and I have to come clean about this. As soon as I heard this song, I did everything in my power to get it. I was even ready to go ‘pirate’. I know, shame on me and all, but I still would have done it if I found it. Resisting was futile.

I later found out that the song is not complete yet. They haven’t even finished with the mastering. For them to sample it on radio before completion, should be evidence enough to prove its hotness.

What makes this song even more interesting than it already is is the fact that Alaine actually makes an effort of singing in Swahili and guess what… she nails it.

Oh man, I just can’t wait for the release of this song. According to the production house, two weeks or so should be enough for everything to be complete and ready.

Legooo!

Former TPF4 Contestant Endorses Peter Kenneth’s Presidential Bid

KNC’s Presidential hopeful, Peter Kenneth has received support from former TPF4 contestant Stephen Nyabwa AKA Steve. Steve, who emerged the second runners up in TPF4 tweeted urging fellow talented youth to support a Peter Kenneth presidency.

“if you believe tunawesmake follow @Peter_Kenneth and learn the real reasons why he deserves your vote” tweeted Steve and added, “if you are talented and want a leader who cares about your talent growth and development follow @Peter_Kenneth and let him win your vote”. tweeted Steve.

steve nyabwa
Steve has also been urging Kenyans to vote in conscious leaders in the coming General Elections.
“Kenya will never change until we the people roll up our sleeves dirty our hands and demand better results from our leaders. Have you verified why you have chosen to vote for person a? Will he deliver to you what you expect?, if we as Kenyans have no expectations of our leaders we will vote for anyone. Get expectations and standards and we will get great ones, all have a duty to our country, to spread and inform those that do not know, do your duty and be a Kenyan. Do something dont just sit n wait”.

Julie Gichuru Cautions Her Facebook Fans

Citizen TV’s Sunday Live news anchor Julie Gichuru yesterday came out to warn her fans about some malicious people on Facebook masquerading as her and swindling guys of their hard-earned cash after promising jobs that are obviously non-existent.

“Good people please note that there is an imposter on fb running a scam, promising people jobs for money. This is a con. Do not send your hard earned money to these people. Remember jobs are not paid for, you either go through a competitive recruitment process or you are headhunted…you should not pay for a job. Be vigilant. And to the conmen and women out there… Siku za mwizi ni arobaini!” read the Facebook post.

This comes barely three weeks after a man was busted by police for impersonating Kirigo Ng’arua, another Citizen TV anchor, on Facebook after defrauding a number of unsuspecting Kenyans.

An Open Letter To MCSK

MCSK has decided that deejays should pay 21,000/- a year for a license that gives them the right to play music done by local artistes and deejays are up in arms!

And it’s quite understandable that deejays are in uproar given the way artists are keeping quiet. Luminaries in the deejaying field have already come out to express reservations about paying artists to play their music. DJ Stylez, DJ Kaytrixx, DJ Prince, DJ Vin have raised issues with this new directive. And allow your dede Chim Obiajulu to teach any of you artists still too bullish to see sense a thing or two:

The deejays being told to play your music will simply blacklist you. that means that your material will not get any love at the club or in matatus or in radio mixes. Where does that leave you? I’ll tell you where, it leaves you in the dark.

But fans of African music fear not, we will get inundated with Bongo and Ugandan flavour and more importantly, more Naija music will play in the clubs. Artists need to understand that as Papoose rapped, “Shout out all the deejays/ cos without the deejay there is no rapper!”. Find a way to strike a balance because if deejays get scared off playing your material, you are the one to lose out!

I can empathise with the need to earn off your talent but to do so at the cost of alienating deejays? That is too steep a price to pay! I maintain that artists, deejays and MCSK need to sit down to work out a winning formula.

Jemedari Unveils His Mixtape Cover

Jemedari recently released a track that came out of his Twitter altercation with Hits FM.

While releasing the track this week, he announced that it was off his IVPLAY mixtape which is set to come out soon.

The rapper has now unveiled the cover of the mixtape and let us in on the artistes who we expect to hear in some of the tracks: Point Blank, Zosi and Virus.

IVPLAY was produced by Rilla, the Beatmaker. I love the cover. Photo shoot song and album covers just don’t cut it anymore. Click on the pic to enlarge. Check out the track that came out of his Twitter beef here.

PHOTOS: Daddy Owen & Denno Accept Kshs. 2 Million from Kisima Awards

Daddy Owen dropped out of the Kisima Awards claiming that he was trying to make way for upcoming artistes.

He came back with a moving performance and won the ultimate prize that saw him win Kshs. 2 million, half of which went to his collaborator, Denno, on their Mbona track and the rest going to the Mbona Foundation.

The pair were at the Serena Hotel for a press conference to accept the cheque for the amount. Check out the photos of them receiving their prize for winning Artiste of the Year below.

Kenyan Deejays Threaten NOT To Play Local Music

So, the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) wants all Kenyan deejays to pay Sh.21,000 a year to get a license to play Kenyan songs. This news has not gone down well with majority of the deejays with a significant section threatening not to play ANY local music in their mixtapes.

Some of the top deejays took to Twitter to vent their anger against this move by MCSK terming it draconian. Check out;

DJ Stylez of Code Red:
#dearkenyanartists if I were you, I’d find a way to make sure that mcsk doesn’t touch the djs. If they do, kenyan music will die. Did you know that djs can easily do a whole night without playing 1 local song, easily!!! I expect you to STAND with the djs when MCSK attempts to do this, just like the djs STAND by YOU. STAND with the THE DJ, or, career death is inevitable. Now let me get back to the decks. #imdone

DJ Kaytrixx:
The MCSK wants all Kenyan Dj’s to pay 21k a year so as to play KENYAN MUSIC…Is that a step in the right direction? I can be able to pay but what about the upcoming Dj’s? Bye Bye Kenyan Music…

DJ Prince:
#dearkenyanartists Find a way to make sure that mcsk doesn’t touch the djs. The beef that will result from this will take a toll on you.

DJ Vin:
#dearkenyanartists Find a way to make sure that mcsk doesn’t touch the djs. The beef that will result from this will take a toll on you. I wouldn mind if it was put on paper those who arent for the idea of Djs paying for their music. For clarity purposes

This debate prompted other industry stakeholders to voice their sentiments;

Arthur K:
my opinion on the ongoing discussion on djs in kenya paying a fee to mcsk……let me say tis… the djs are as important in the music industry just as the artists are important and a working mcsk is also important …. so we should all look for the good of everyone in a balanced way…..which brings me to my question ..HOW MUCH IS THE LICENSE FEE FOR THE DJS PER YEAR? …after tat question is answered then i will proceed with my statement…..Wesleydj Wesley Arthur Kamau its Ksh.21,000……….. thanks dj wesley….which means its ksh 1750 per month…my opinion is.. tis is too much especially for guys who are hustling and trying to make it in the industry as a dj…another thing that needs to be put into consideration is … djs play in clubs, functions or events or parties that have already paid for licenses to mcsk, hence we should all trend very carefully when we again go out to tat dj on a personal level… now i also know tat djs do their own personal mixes and make money from it but to charge them 1750 a month is too much… so if they are to pay ….. we should assess at what point does a dj makes money directly and not by playing in a club or event… but by their own initiative tat does not involve any other party…. and on average how much do they make……mcsk should have a seating wit djs of all walks from the big shots to the dj in kisumu who has no name but is a dj in his own rights and agree on a very reasonable amount becoz my fear is mcsk top management might be in doing tis in good faith but once u send ur guys out there to check who has paid and who has not , thats where the problems will check in and we can all agree tat especially out of nairobi djs play a lot of kenyan music and its important but the minute a dj in nyeri is harassed coz he couldnt afford 1750 then we are not going in the right direction….

Bernard Kioko of Bernsoft LTD:
I think its misleading for someone to say its 21,000 per year and not say what MCSK is allowing them to do once they pay! Please remember DJs do various activities with music. There those that DJ in clubs, there those that make mixes and offer for sale, there those that DJ for events and there are DJ who do it for the hobby. My position is and has been, if you DJ at a club and the music you use is acquired legally, then the club should be paying for a license to broadcast. If you make mixes and offer them for sale or download or streaming (like many DJs are doing) then there is need for a license and 1750 is a very little amount IN THAT CONTEXT. DJs must consider that they are trading in other people’s property (song). The Kenya music industry is not young anymore. We cannot continue to hide behind this because this continues to be the reason why international music records are coming to kenya and taking our our talent and exploit it elsewhere – and keep the money out of kenya. Further to this, DJs need to understand that this is not an issue SPECIFIC to local music. MCSK has been mandated by EMI, SONY, UNIVERSAL, etc through NORM(an association in SA) to collect money for international music. If you know this industry well that should tell you that DJs will also need to pay for international music. So other than DJs just reject the proposal they should engage MCSK to understand what they are paying for and how its done in other countries. Its about time artists started earning from their music. ON THE OTHER HAND – MCSK is not the only body that is suppose to collect money. KAMP and PRISK also are suppose to be collecting money for use of music. For some reason KAMP and PRISK have not been as strong and visible as MCSK is and that is causing us a problem – but we have been engaging them for a solution and we have had some meetings. The role played by DJs is very very crucial in the growth of music in any country but the current crop of DJs must also remember that the industry started on a wrong footing and that change has to come in order to fix the industry. If we have artists earning from their music, then they get to make better music and therefore DJs wont complain that the music is poor quality.

I think all the parties involved (MSCK, DJs & artistes) should reach a consensus before this matter gets out of hand.

Gospel Artist Implicated In Sex Scandal Comes Out To Clear His Name!

I just got off the phone with the artist accused of impregnating a lass then advising her to procure an abortion.

And this is what he had to say, “This is all a lie. There are people trying to bring me down because my music is currently doing very well and i am beginning to enjoy God-given success. The truth of the matter is that i have never received any of the alleged phone calls or texts. If indeed the lady in question exists, let her come forward and stop hiding in shadows. I will assume full responsibility of the child as it’s father. I am a man who takes care of his own.”

That can be interpreted as Mr. Kibe throwing down the gauntlet and challenging Nairobi Exposed to reveal who the mystery lass is.

Now Uncle Chim Tuna weighs in. I do not judge. Lord knows i have been through alot and i am not clean enough to judge. However, there seems to be a drive to purge the gospel industry. That in itself isn’t a bad thing but when we go about it without any proof, it becomes a witch hunt.

<Willy Paul>

Pulse did their job and reported a story about misbehaviour between an asyet unnamed gospel artist and a secular singer but that has snowballed and now even Facebook pages are taking on a vigilante role. Uncle Chim Tuna asks that you give facts and no, a phone number isn’e conclusive facts nor is a rumour in the extreme gossip section. I empathise with the people involved in these scandals because their reputations are being sullied without evidence. What their families must be going through is unimaginable!

Read about the allegations being made here.

And Yet Another Top Gospel Artist Implicated In A Sex And Abortion Scandal! What In God’s Name Is Going On?

I have no idea as to whettin dey appa! What in heaven’s sweet name is happening in the gospel industry?! Mr Kibe a.k.a KimDanny is the latest gospel artist to be mentioned in a sex scandal!

And this information is courtesy of the Facebook page Nairobi Exposed which claims that they got this story from a young lass who claims to have been impregnated by the gospel artist! And the scandal doesn’t end there.
Actually, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The lass claims that after she realised she was with child, she informed Mr. Kibe who promptly asked her to procure an abortion before it was too late! The scandal has spiralled out of control with the mother of the lass in question reportedly getting involved.

And again, i reiterate that the information on this article is wholly derived from Nairobi Exposed who claim that they gave the gospel artist 24hrs to contact them but he chose to remain silent which forced their hand and they went public without his side of the story.

Here is how they ran the story:

15th November 2012: Ten things you should know this morning

Morning fam. Here’s what you need to know this morning;

#1 Take a look at Octopizzo’s condoms.

#2 Cartel puts finishing touches on his new hilarious track, “Rescue”.

#3 Willy Paul denies that he had sex with Pendo at the KICC basement.

#4 The lady rumoured to have slept with Gospel artiste, Willy Paul, says the artiste begged her for Sh.15000/=.

#5 Classic 105’s Maina Kageni is going back to school.

#6 Pendo, the lady who was allegedly caught pants down with Willy Paul visits Ghafla for clarification.

#7 Check out Kenya’s most expensive performer.

#8 Check out Cartel Katenga’s studio.

#9 Blogger Robert Alai reveals his polygamous intentions.

#10 Willy Paul is a liar: Alleges the lady he is rumoured to have slept with!

Now you know. Have a superb day and remember to keep it Ghafla! for more scoop.

The Most Expensive Kenyan Performer Is…

The market for performers has been booming of late, especially with the entry of big corporates like Safaricom, who have recently come into the entertainment industry with a bang. This has led to entertainers charging an arm and a leg to have them show up at an event.

The cost of doing concerts has began to flabbergast promoters! The musicians have all started quoting six figures, the lowest being 150,000 KShs for a normal club event. This turn of events comes after a time when people were used to paying celebs below 50k to show up. But the corporates are willing to stump up the cash, so now its a different game altogether.

The most expensive entertainer right now is Redsan, who charges 600,000 Kenya Shillings for a club appearance. He is known to believe in laying low, and only coming out for the biggest events, so this tactic suits him well. For what it’s worth, he usually shuts it down when he comes on stage, so the value for money is evident.

What do you think of these new celebrity rates? Are they too much, or too little? Leave your interesting or creative responses in the comment section below:

Rufftone & MOG in Confusion

After disappearing from the active music industry for quite some time to concentrate on music production and other business ventures, Gospel sensation Rufftone is back. This time, the “Mwikhulu” hit maker is incorporating another Gospel group that has been active churning out hit after hit.

Called Confusion, the Lampstand Records video will be out by Saturday and we expect that it will be an instant hit. Rufftone was passionate about working with MOG and thanked them wholly on his Facebook timeline after the video shoot at the Boma Hotels on Mombasa Road.

Be sure to catch the video on Ghafla! when it comes out.

The Lady Rumoured To Have Slept With Gospel Artist Willy Paul Says He Begged Her For 15,000/-!

And the interview continued!

Uncle Chim Tuna: Aye, we’re back and the thing is Willy Paul vehemently denied you: he dey turn Simon Peter. But you claim you know Willy Paul, how do you know him?
Pendo: First off, the question should be where did i first meet Will. When we first met he was at Sauti Academy. And back then it was just “hi”, “bye!”. The second time i met him was at Kisima. What he’s saying that i forced him (to take a photograph with me) is a lie.

UCT: Yeah, he insinuated that he was unwilling to have a picture taken with you but you were insistent and he capitulated so that he’d keep his fans happy. Apparently he was with J.Blessingz and he wasn’t feeling pictures but you more or less forced him.
P: As far as i know (laughs) J.Blessingz wasn’t even there.

UCT: So Willy Paul, you’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth! If J. Blessingz was indeed there, the onus is upon you to prove it. The burden of proof is yours.
But moving on swiftly, the way Pulse ran that story, it would seem they have proof of what they allege to be your indiscretions. They were not gun shy about it, they came out with their guns blazing. This is a situation where you can’t bull*defecate* people.
P: I agree. As i said, when i saw the article, i didn’t freak out, i said to myself that this is kawaida gossip. There’s one thing they didn’t do though, they didn’t put names and that’s my problem. (Looks at the camera) pulse if you know what you are doing, do this, you know guards were there, a journalist came to our aid. Give us proof. Where are the photos? Put the photos up! I don’t care, it’s not me so i don’t care cos you’re spoiling my name! It’s not good!

420400_3743060942771_1812549884_n.jpg
UCT: Pulse, there you have it, she’s thrown down the gauntlet! The burden of proof is upon you now.
P: And Will, you say you don’t know me yet i have your texts (which we have seen and will put up as proof). I have received calls from you even after you spoke bad! N***a, really? Should i… Man, speak the truth, you know me, i know you. It won’t hurt, you won’t die.

At this point, Pendo got emotional and opened up to say something else.

P: You say i’m a gold-digger. If i’m a gold-digger, why were you asking me for 15,000/-? For what if i’m the gold-digger?! N***a, i work! I do my own s**t! I don’t need your money! I have proof! I have your texts! And mark you, remember who you abused!

And now, a Nakuru All-Star cypher

Rappers like Khalimani Tha MC hold it down on this cypher titled ‘Cyphertron Nax’.

Check it out below and give us the feed back on the rise of the number of cyphers by the country’s rappers.

Exclusive: Willy Paul A Liar! Says The Lady He Is Rumoured To Have Slept With!

Ladies and gents, we have the pleasure of introducing Pendo; the lady rumoured to have had a fling at Kisima Awards.

Well, today she came to see her dede Chim Tuna to have a little chat. What came out of the interview was nothing short of explosive. The attractive Pendo held no punches especially after her erstwhile friend Willy Paul took to radio (Tina Kagia’s show) to denounce her. What i thought was a joke (Willy Paul even taking the rumours seriously and even dignifying them with a response) has now become a sad story.
Pendo didn’t come off as fake, she came off as a genuinely hurt lass who feels betrayed by her friend (Willy Paul’s) refusal to in the least acknowledge her as a friend.

398708_2545033192826_648111589_n.jpg
Uncle Chim Tuna: So tell us about yourself as an individual before we go into all that. So what have you been upto?
Pendo: Uhm, ok. i’ve been upto alot. First i’m a singer, i’m a model and i’m a designer in my own way. My name is Pendo and don’t say a.k.a Pendo, Pendo’s my real name. I want to release a song, actually, it’s called “Washa”.

420400_3743060942771_1812549884_n.jpg
UCT: Aye, cool. Let’s just get into it. So for those of you who don’t know, Pulse ran a story about a gospel artist who they claim was busted having sex at the KICC basement with a secular artist during the Kisima Awards. but when you sought out the chaff from wheat, it was Willy Paul and you that they were talking about. So Pulse never ran any names so why did you and Willy Paul come out?
P: I first saw the story on Pulse but when it came out, it didn’t bother me cos i knew it wasn’t me. I never freaked out or anything, i was just like argh! It’s just another rumour. Until Nairobi exposed called me out. Apparently they had a source who even claimed that Will and i had been seen holding hands in town -that’s a lie! Immediatel;y after the Nairobi Exposed story ran, guys connected it to the Pulse story.

UCT: How did people respond to that story?
P: Will called me up early in the morning and he was angry. He accused me of fabricating that story but i don’t blame him. It’s understandable because i know alot of media personalities. But he went to the extent of saying i paid Nairobi Exposed to create that lie but come on, why would i use someone like Will when i know industry heavyweights whom i can ask for favours?
We even met face to face with Will and tried to sort everything out. He even explained himself and said that he was really angry and had even contacted Nairobi Exposed to say that he doesn’t know me. I was like, “Seriously? How can you say you don’t know me and i have texts from you?”

UCT: That’s interesting cos Willy Paul was on One Active with the lovely Tina Kagia and he basically threw you under the bus. He said that you are an artist looking to benefit from his traction.
P: What i’d like to say about that is how can he say i am looking for fame through him when he knows full well that i know alot of industry heavyweights? I could have used them, not Willy Paul! It doesn’t make sense!

Pendo, the lady who was allegedly caught pants down with Willy Paul visits Ghafla for clarification

This is currently the hottest and most controversial story that has ever come from the Kenyan gospel music industry.

Willy Paul was allegedly caught pants down having sex with a secular artiste known as Pendo at the KICC basement during the Kisima Awards show, according to the Pulse Magazine.

Willy Paul was interviewed by Tina Kaggia today morning on this story and told his side of the story, putting Pendo’s reputation in the mad.

Frustrated, Pendo walked in the Ghafla offices and laid the story on us straight. The interview is going on right now as I put this down. All the facts. Turns out the guy isn’t as honest and pure as it appears (not our words).

The video and articles from the interview will be up shortly. This is by far the biggest beef and controversy that we have seen in the gospel industry and you won’t believe the revelations that Pendo has given us.

Keep it Ghafla people. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS.

Cartel puts finishing touches on his new music ‘Rescue’. Hilarious track

So we told you about the new track that Cartel from Katenga Entertainment has been working on. Well, it’s not out yet and we had earlier stated that we didn’t have enough information of the track, but we do now.

According to Cartel, the song ‘Rescue’ is all about the man who has more love for his clande than his wife/girlfriend. The type that would come up with the craziest of excuses just to spend time with his chips funga. Cartel uses a comic approach to this and like all his previous songs, this will leave you cracked up.

To put it in Cartel’s words, “It talks about how men lie that they are sleeping but in real sense they are with a ka-chips funga. The girlfriend calls the man at night for rescue but instead of the man coming to her rescue, the man lies that he is sleeping in his new vitaform mattress (kumbe ako na madem ka watano) and that he will give her a high five in her chicks (kumchapa makofi). On arrival, the man asks the girlfriend what is burning and if he should come with an ambulance or the fire brigade.”

There you have it. The song will be released on the 1st of December 2012. Keep it Ghafla for the exclusive view of the video immediately it’s out.

Willy Paul Denies Ever Knowing Pendo, the Girl He Was Accused of Having Sex With

An upcoming singer and model, Pendo, came forward and denied that she was the individual Willy Paul was caught with at the KICC basement during the Kisima Awards.

Willy Paul has remained fairly quiet about the whole story but today he made an appearance on Tina Kagia’s One Active radio show, his very first interview after the incident. And while he was there, he denied ever knowing Pendo.

Pendo said that she is friends with Willy Paul but nothing happened on that day. But Willy Paul said, “I don’t know this chick. Hata mi ilinichanganya.”

On being asked about how it is then that they were spotted on the red carpet taking photos earlier, “We don’t talk, we met at the Kisima Awards. The photo–I was standing there with my promoter, J. Blessing when the chick grabbed me from nowhere. I wanted to refuse but Blessing told me, ‘we ni nini? Chukua photo na fan.’ From hapo, I heard that story.”

He also dared publications who claim to have evidence of the incidence to come forward. “If there were saying the truth, they’d provide the photos. Na wakileta evidence fake, utashtukia God ametoklezea na akafanya maneno.”

Tina Kagia also made him aware about Pendo’s upcoming music career, which he also said he did not know about up until the point it was mentioned in the interview.  “Whoa! If that’s it, then it makes,” insinuating that Pendo is using the situation to further her career.

And his message for the admins of Nairobi Exposed, “Whoever it is, mungu amsamehe. Hajui kenye anafanya.”

Rapper Comes Up with a Comic Book

Rapper, MC and freestyle artiste, Point Blank, is also a brilliant illustrator and graphic artiste. His works have appeared in publications like UP Magazine, Insyder Magazine and Tinga Tinga Tales among others.

The Channel O Emcee Africa finalist now has a monthly comic book publication titled Home Guard. He also publishes and produces it through his  PBE Productions Ltd.

Home Guard tells the story of two Kenyan detectives, Timothy Chief and Ben Kipter, who protect the citizens of Kenya from organized crime, murder and trafficking of all forms.

PBE Productions Limited is a production company based in Nairobi, Kenya involved in visual and verbal media. from monthly comic publications to annual graphic novels, literature is the backbone of the company.

Willy Paul Denies He Had Sex With Pendo at the KICC Basement

Rumors that a gospel music artiste was caught having sex in the parking lot of the same venue he was attending an event have been doing rounds in the last week.

As days went by, rumors started circulating that the gospel artiste was Willy Paul. The event was said to be the Kisima Awards and the parking lot, the KICC undeground basement.

On Tina Kagia’s One Active show, the artiste addressed the claims, “Truth of the matter is–okay, I dunno anything about the story. Hata mi vile niliona kwa Pulse nilishtuka. There were only three gospel artistes at Kisima, Emmy  Kosgey, Daddy Owen and I. I also wondered, huyu ni nani aliingiwa na shetani?”

He further explains his reaction when he saw that he was mentioned on a Facebook page, “I saw Nairobi Exposed wrote my name but I wasn’t surprised. We need enemies to. They want to make me look bad, lakini haiwezi wazito.”

Video: The Maranga Maina Tribute concert at the KNT yesterday

If you’ve already seen the photo gallery of the event that went down yesterday in celebration of Kenya’s entertainer, Maranga Darling at the Kenya National Theatre, then you probably know that it was one of the most memorable and epic event.

The concert saw fans, friends and celebrities attend to celebrate Maranga’s life and it was a good one. Watch the video of the event below courtesy of Uliza Links.

May Maranga Maina rest in peace.

Another hilarious music and video from Calif Records

Calif Records has so far been known to be the home of musicians who might have been comedians in another life. I mean, most of these artistes that come from Calif Records could easily compose lyrics full of hilarious incidents that they have been through or might have just imagined. Either way, you end up laughing.

The videos themselves, done by Charles Luch, are always as comic as the tracks themselves. We have seen it in Jimwat, Mejja, Pilipili (back then) and even Jua Cali and now, I can see it in this new track by Love E featuring Ala C titled ‘Tujirushe’.

This video has Calif Records written all over it. There is no way you could confuse this track to have been produced elsewhere. The humor in the lyrics is also visual in the video. These guys just crack me up.

Check out the video below.

Willy Paul Denies Beef with Fellow Sitolia Singer, Gloria Muliro

Willy Paul made an appearance on Tina Kaggia’s One Active radio show. He spoke about how got into salvation and his inspiration being J. Blessing, who he said is also his producer.

On some controversial matters, he was also asked about the apparent conflict about his track with fellow gospel singer, Gloria Muliro. The two have apparently had conflict about their hit song, Sitolia. But the singer denied there ever being problems concerning the track.

“There was some misundertsanding but everything is working out well.” On being prodded about the issue, he said, “Hakuna, there was no drama. Ilikuwa tu story. We’re cool, in fact, we’re more than cool.”
