As you are all aware, singer Avril is officially off the market. She recently got engaged to a South African investor much to the chagrin of her hordes of admirers.

The fact  that Avril is not only beautiful but also famous means she has had a huge selection of eligible bachelors to choose from but she chose this specific man.

Speaking to pulse the singer revealed why she chose her Fiancée. Here is an excerpt from the interview

“He stands out from all the other men I have ever dated because he is more interested in knowing and hanging out with Nyambura and not Avril, the singer. In fact, he came to find out that I am an artiste and actress a few months into the relationship when he was watching Shuga; and saw me.”

Nazizi is one of the pioneers of Kenyan music and Kenyan hiphop but sadly, her marriage did not work and she’s now seeking a divorce. Sad. What is even sadder -for her husband are these pictures Uncle Chim Tuna was sent:

We first took notice of the Longomba brothers Christian and Lovy Longomba in 2002 with their club banger “Dondosa”. After it became a hit,the dynamic duo went ahead to produce more  songs such as “Piga Makofi”, “Shika More” and “Queen”.

Their musical ability could be attributed to the fact that they come from a musical family their father being a member of the legendary Super Mazembe, their grandpa a member of TPOK and their uncle is renowned Congolese musician Awilo Longomba.

The brothers have been pretty much a no show but the boys are back and back with a bang. They are set to release what I slated to be the song of the year ‘Just Got Paid’

Caroline Mutoko is not a happy lady. She is unimpressed by Stevens Muendo’s team over at Pulse who he allowed to run a story about her wealth even after she expressly asked them n ot to interfere in her “boring private life”. How do I know this? Well, I have a sleuth of a colleague who knows just how to get things to happen.

In my possession, Uncle Chim Tuna has an email complaint in which Caroline Mutoko sarcastically calls out Stevens Muendo for playing about and allowing the story to go to print. Personally however, I can relate to Stevens Muendo’s dilemma: to run an awesome story or to ignore it?

Fortunately, it’s Stevens on the receiving end of this one. That said, she was rather sarcastic in her request to be overlooked for the article but ce sera sera! Check out the email below:

This morning, Huddah Monroe burst open a can of worms when she broke her silence over her alleged relationship with Colonel Mustapha. After numerous attempts to reach him bore no fruits, Citizen Radio’s ‘Mzazi’ Willy M Tuva finally got hold of him.

Speaking on Tuva’s show, Mambo Mseto, Mustapha started by saying that Huddah is lying and that they were in love until most recently when a photo of Mustapha snuggling a ‘fan’ surfaced online.

“Huo ni uongo. Kama mtu hayuko class yako mnapigaje ukiwa sindiria? Mbona hakupiga na watu wengine?”

On allegations that Huddah cautioned Ogopa’s management against releasing a song in which Mustapha featured her, the ‘Lenga Stress’ contends that in the first place Huddah cannot sing!

“Huddah ajui kuimba, Huddah ajui ku-rap,” reveals Mustapha adding, “Huddah ana hasira nyingi sana. Hakueza kungoja sauti yake itengenezwe kulingana na beat.”

Alluding to the chic she was spotted with (photo below), Mustapha said that the chic is a fan but a certain blog belonging to a leading radio station claimed that he had dumped Huddah for the said lady.

This, Mustapha says was a contributing factor to Huddah’s unforeseen decision to withdraw from the song at the last minute.

When ‘Mzazi’ sought to find whether there was any sexual relationship between Huddah and him. Mustapha is responds in affirmative.

“Hizo vitu zote tulikua tumefanya. Tuli-date. But kulikua na kitu kama hio,” adding, “Na kama anataka kurudiana na Prezzo, labda Prezzo amembembeleza kuwa wanaweza rudiana, amwambie tu Prezzo ukweli kile kili-happen na Prezzo atamsamehea na watarudiana tu fresh.”

Meanwhile he reveals that he will be dropping his jam next week even though without Huddah’s vocals. For now they’re scouting for a singer who can fill in.

Once in a while, celebrities announce that they are launching campaigns or products; some launch but do not make the grade while other campaigns do not even launch.

Nonini’s color Kwa Face is one of the few campaigns that have actually succeeded. No PR stunts here. The campaign aims at sensitizing people about albinism and people living with the condition. Nonini does not stop there; he goes a step further and provides sunscreen lotions to the people living with albinism. Sunscreen is imperative to people living with albinism as they are more prone to skin cancer unlike their counterparts with melanin. The color kwa face campaign paid a visit to wajir where they donated sunscreen lotion to the albinos

Size 8 recently released a track titled “Yuko Na Wewe” which is a very nice song that throws a curveball at the listeners as it starts off in a very soulful RnB way only to flip to reggae instrumentals. Anyway, the track is a very nice mellow track that praises God for always being by your side in trying times.

And the video is finally out. The video opens with a nice quote from Deutoronomy 31:8 then cuts to a scene with people lamenting, one having been given bad news in an envelope the other, a lady, crying for unknown reasons.

The image quality is crisp and the transitions between cut scenes seamless making it look like it was a one-shoot video. The video tells the stories of various characters going through personal and professional strife with one, a lady, having relationship woes with an abusive husband and in yet another, a mother negligent mother allows her son to run off onto the road and he is run over. You catch my drift.

Kalamashaka were one of the first Kenyan groups to start rapping. Back then the only genre that got airplay was RnB and gospel at that. But they dared to dream. They dared to be different. And that cemented their places in the annals of Kenyan musical history. If anything, it cements them firmly at the heart of it. They were the first to make rap cool and to do so with a gritty underground feel as they wove words to tell their inner-city stories.

They put Dandora firmly on the artistic map and in doing so and doing so well, got the attention of Africa and certainly the world too. they were actually the first Kenyans to feature on a Channel O chart with the song “Tafsiri Hii“. Pure joy! But they have since fallen from grace as the Kenyan entertainment scene wasn’t as well organized and structured as it is today -not to say that it’s in awesome shape but I am admitting that it was none existent back then.

The group found themselves shackled to the slum and it’s ways and the lack of education and knowledge on how to turn their talent into a solid business venture cut them and left them jaded. They are all now reported to have had serious issues either with the law or alcoholism.

Vigeti is the man whom I speak of, he was the member of Kalamashaka released for remand after serving 6 months for stealing car-parts. Ironically, it was reported that he was released on the same day Jaguar went to Industrial Area Remand Prison to shoot a video about being incarcerated under false charges.

I’m definitely staying on my lane…

A mention of Kangemi paints a picture of a heavily populated urban informal settlement characterized by substandard housing and grime where mugging is the order of the day. However, that’s not the case because just like South B (Kenya’s Hollywood), ‘Ungem’ boasts of top artists.

Kelvin Kiprono aka Insectdudu and Bob Onyango aka Terra of the group, Tuffskills, are an afro hip-hop duo set to redefine music from Kangemi. Both born in late 80s, the lyrical maestros fell in love with music from an early age. Living in the same area, they would hook up and compose lyrics and it’s those early roots which have given Tuffskills a foothold of what they do and how.

They launched their music career in 2005, recording with various producers like Sinpare (Tuff Audio Studios) and collaborated with many other artistes. Young, ambitious and passionate about their craft, Tuffskills delves into traditional sounds and draw from a strong social conscience and Nairobi life experiences to catalyze their energy into songs which have deeply relevant lyrics and wonderful melodic hooks.
