April is definitely set to be more kicking than March if all the events scheduled for the month are anything to go by. The Guinness Evolution Party is without doubt set to be the biggest party and with good reason, Jamaican dancehall sensation Konshens is set to be the main act.

The dancehall heavyweight well known for mega hits like “Gal a bubble” and “Do Sumn” is leading a line-up of top local artistes including leading Kenyan reggae star Wyre, King of Genge Jua Cali, the ‘King of Fundamentals’ Ken wa Maria, sexy and sassy R n B artist Habida, and Dj Joe Mfalme as well as Kriss Darlin’ who will be the MC.

The Guinness Evolution Party is slated for 12^th April 2014 at the KICC in Nairobi and will be open to all Kenyans over 18 years and tickets will be available for sale at Kshs. 500 from 26^th March 2014. According to Marketing Manager for Guinness & Partner Brands, Arianne Okong’o, “The Guinness Evolution Party  is not only a way of introducing our new-look bottle to our consumers but to also bring a unique experience to them and thank them for their continued support over the years.”

The Guinness Evolution party is the first of a series of events across various regions of Kenya including Nakuru, Meru, Kisumu & Mombasa. Given Guinness way of doing things in a big and unique way, then the showbiz and party scene is certainly set for livelier times. The countdown to April 12 officially begins!

Earlier this week we told you that the Pull Up Mi Bumper hit-maker, Konshens, is on his way to the 254. A few hours ago, Konshens, just confirmed the same.

Since it’s now official that the dancehall sensation is on his way to Kenya, already, Guiness has placed banners on the dailies confirming that Konshens will be the main act at The Guinness Evolution Party slated for April 12 at the KICC starting from 7PM.

Other entertainers in action that day include, Jua Cali, Ken Wa Maria, Wyre, Habida with DJ Kris Darlin as the MC and DJ Joe Mfalme on the 1s and 2s.

This week on CNN International’s ‘Inside Africa’, Kenyan-born CNN anchor Zain Verjee shows viewers the rich history and culture of this incredible gem, Watamu.

Capturing Watamu’s current popularity as a global destination for water sports such as windsurfing, kite surfing and other attractions like its Swahili culture, history and Gede ruins among others.

Join Verjee as she explores Watamu’s diverse marine life, tests her skills at some of the water sports on offer and journeys through the ruins of a nearby ancient Swahili town. Along the way, she meets Ben Kelliher of Tribe Water Sports, and Ali Hassan, a Curator at Gede National Monument.

“Modern Watamu is an exciting place for water sports enthusiasts but it also offers some ancient Swahili culture with some wonderful mangroves and you will see spectacular sunsets,” narrates Verjee.

‘Inside Africa’ also explores historic influences on Watamu Waterpark, from ancient Swahili culture to the Omani empire to the Portuguese and Vasco Da Gama, which form part of the most important historical sites in Watamu.

I have always said that Kenyans are not entertainers. I am being proved right by every artist who elects to turn to West Africa for lessons on how proper entertainment is done. And for that, they chose the most beautiful language in Africa -second only to Luhya. And that language ladies and gentlemen is Igbo.

And that is precisely the language used to even name the track which uses a style of instrumentals associated with Naija music. That said, kudos to the prioducer who created the fast paced Naija instrumentals and kudos to both VKP and Saint P for making this hit track because trust me when I say that the track is a sure shot winner!

The trackk is called “Imela” and that is Igbo for “thank you”. So from that you can already tell that this track is in gratitude to God for his mercies. The subject matter also holds as they wonder why they kept finnicking for something more exciting yet God already had their backs. Check the track out below:

Anto Neosoul is just that guy you see in a studio working on a track with another artist and you’re sure it’s going to the top of the pops country wide. I however must admit that I am not a fan of Mr. Seed’s style because I do not understand why he sings like a Nigerian but be that as it may, one fact I will never begrudge him is the fact that he is making his style work for him.

Both artists are hot and Mr. Seed is gospel royalty. Anto Neosoul did a song with DK Kwenye Beat and though he isn’t a gospel artist, other big time players within the gospel fraternity have been beating a path to his doorstep asking for a collabo.
That said, I came across a very interesting picture of the pair chilling in a studio exchanging ideas and I realized this could be the making of a serious gospel hit I was witnessing so I decided to share it with you:

Nazizi Hirji is the poster child for flexibility in music having done hip hop, reggae and dance hall oh- so- flawlessly.

Since she strutted into the limelight with her ‘Let’s Get Down’ hit with his Rapcellency Prezzo, she proved that she was a force to reckon with. This made us gravitate towards her, like flies to a moth to share some of the Nazizi goodness. She later linked up with Wyre and formed one of the greatest duos ever ‘Necessary Noize’

Together they brought us two albums; ‘Necessary Noize’ (2003) and ‘Kenyan Gal, Kenyan Boy’ (2005) which still rock our airwaves and iPods to this day. But just like everything else,the reign of Necessary Noize came to an end and they had to rule solo. But as a solo artistes the former members of Necessary Noize each shone with Nazizi bagging 17 awards including a Video of the Year at the Channel O Video Music Awards in 2007.

After taking a hiatus from music Nazizi is back with a new album that is rumored to be the best thing since sliced bread. Just like every Queen, Nazizi deserves a King and her King is her very adorable son

Maina and King’ang’i in the moprning is never without it’s controversies and LOLs. But today, it has started off on a very controversial note. Yesterday, a male caller called in to weigh in on the topic of the day that sought to find out who the antagonist is in relationships when the man begins to sleep with the househelp.

And all sorts of callers rang in from the cuckolds to the outright misogynistic -the full spectrum was represented. But one caller stood out from the rest. His opinions were in a word venomous. He called in and while he was giving his opinion, made the following statements; “A wife is nothing more than an over glorified househelp“!
