Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Victor Wanyama, has revealed he performs a ritual before getting to the pitch to play. And Avril Nyambura is part of it.

Victor Wanyama was in town over the past weekend to take part in an international friendly match between Harambee Stars and Mozambique which was held at Kasarani Stadium.

The Tottenham player-cum-Harambee stars captain lead the Kenyan team to victory on Saturday, the match ended 1-0 in favor of Kenya.

Wanyama revealed he has a ritual which he performs before he gets to the pitch to play; he told Nairobi News he always listen to Avril and Sauti Sol’s songs when travelling to stadium for English Premier League (EPL) matches.

He praises Avril and Sauti Sol’s songs saying they help him ease nervousness that players have before they get to the football field to play.

“When travelling to the stadium for league matches, I usually put on my headphones and listen to some music, mostly from Sauti Sol or Avril, wonderful stuff that makes me relax and prepare for the task ahead.” Victor Wanyama told Nairobi News.

Faith Muturi has finally unveiled her son’s face three days after she delivered him. Unlike most Kenyan celebrity mum’s the TV personality cum business lady did not waste time hiding her handsome son as she to introduce him to the online community through her social media pages.

Well, the baby boy Lemuel Imani Gakio is a photocopy of his dad George. The excited mother shared a collage photo of her son which she captioned using a long text that will probably leave many in tears of joys.

She went further to reveal his name and what it means. Being a Christian, the business lady made sure to give her son a name that will reflect on him and his character. She wrote to say,

Lemuel is also similar to Emmanuel- you are a constant reminder that God is with us. The name Lemuel is of a king who gave wise counsel in Proverbs 31. Son, you are royalty. The A-list Hollywood actress is marshalling her fans to sign a petition that will see thespians earn better wages.

New York’s Broadway Theatre is the incubator of budding thespians wishing to make it big in Hollywood. A lot of actors and actresses who have starred in a number of Hollywood blockbusters started their journey at Broadway.

Lupita Nyong’o has also featured in a number of plays at Broadway, the most notable being ‘Eclipsed’; a 2015 play about five Liberian women and their tale of survival near the end of the Second Liberian Civil War.

The Kenyan actress has since come forth to reveal thespians starring on plays at Broadway earn ‘peanuts’; she says their salaries are below minimum wage.

“Did you know that Off-Broadway salaries are often below minimum wage?! Join me and sign this petition to show your support for higher wages! Everyone deserves a living wage!” Lupita Nyong’o captioned a video she was grumbling about poor pay.

In the video, Lupita highlights the struggles of living in New York City with an unsustainable salary that Broadway offers thespians.

“I have lived in the US for 13 years and in that time I have taken buses, trains and planes to get to New York to experience the incorporable artistry of the theatre… But unfortunately the wages are anemic and quite frankly unsustainable as a living wage in New York City,” Lupita complained in a video.

A shocking case of cannibalism has hit the social media; photos of two men arrested with human body parts have send chills down many people’s spine.

Many people thought cannibalism ended with the dawn of civilization but apparently there are still people out there feeding on human flesh.

The last incident that was closely related to cannibalism that shocked Kenya to its root was way back in 2010 when serial killer Philip Onyancha confessed to killing and drinking his victim’s blood.

But even Onyancha didn’t eat human flesh; two men from the neighboring Uganda exclusively preyed on fellow human beings for meat.

Uganda News reports that police caught two men red handed feeding on human flesh while still even possessing some of the yet to be cooked bodies on 29th October.

Locals in Kiboga village report that the two men had been killing and feeding on fellow village mates; they said people had been disappearing without a trace.

Human head was also being boiling in the sufuria in the suspects’ homestead. It’s not clear whether the two men were feeding on human flesh out of hunger or their cannibalism was linked to a cult.

It may sound crazy to many people but Akothee doesn’t mind her high breed dogs consuming 2 cows a month.

Some four weeks ago, Akothee had 30 dogs at her posh retirement home in Rongo, Home Bay County. She was complaining how her pets were breeding faster than her.

The flamboyant singer revealed she wasn’t willing to give her dogs out despite the fact that they were consuming meat equivalent to 2 cows per month.

“Wao am offloading some pets yawa, they be too much , they keep on giving birth like their owner! but they ain’t bringing anything on the table apart from security , atleast they are loyal friends , am soo attached to them, they are 30 as per yesterday, they were consuming a whole cow per month, now its 2 cows report from my farm manager , am afraid if I give them out for free they might be mishandled ,for free things got no valu.” Akothee wrote on Instagram.

Fast forward to November 4^th 2016 when she appeared on the Trend, the ‘Give It To Me’ singer revealed she had four more dogs.

“Why do you have 34 dogs?” Larry Madowo asked Akothee during an interview on the Trend.

“Because they are loyal friends. They are loyal to me” Akothee answered Larry.

Her dogs don’t live in a pen, they stay with her in her palatial retirement house; and they are accorded treatment that befits a human being.

“As artists, we don’t have to rush into signing deals with record labels, we can make our own money using social media. Don’t settle for less. As for me don’t call if you can’t afford to raise one million shillings for a collabo.”Akothee disclosed.

Funny the singer is yet to work with any local artist for a major music project. But the last song she did solo ‘Yuko Moyoni’ has over 450k views in just three months. So judging from her success, Akothee is right to demand 1 million for a collabo.

But women too have been caught in acts of bestiality, the most memorable case being the 2013 incident in Mombasa where 11 Kenyan women were arrested after they were found shooting a pornographic movie with a dog.

The ladies were being paid 3,000 shilling each by a Swedish man for the scene with the dog, which had been trained to devour human cookie.

Several miles across the Ocean, an Australian woman has been locked behind bars after she was found guilty of engaging in acts of bestiality.

27-year-old Jenna Louise Driscoll was charged with bestiality way back in October 2014 after police found her bestiality videos. The video showed Driscoll performing obscene acts with her bet dog.

The eye candy pleaded guilty to bestiality when he appeared before Brisbane District Court on November 18^th 2016.

Daily Mail reports that Driscoll was also found guilty of three drug related charges. The Judge said bestiality acts were ‘repulsive and goes against order of nature’, and asked authorities to lock up Driscoll until Monday when she will be sentenced.

Last Wednesday December 7^th, Larry Madowo and Boniface Mwangi blocked Mwingi West MP from overlapping along Parliament road. But the lawmaker still ended up defying the law anyway.

Larry Madowo and Boniface Mwangi caused a scene along Parliament road when they blocked a Landcruiser ferrying Mwingi West MP, Bernard Kitungi, from overlapping on the wrong side of the road.

A no nonsense Boniface Mwangi got out of the car which was travelling in the opposite direction to the legislator’s SUV and shouted to the MP’s driver who was overlapping.

Video showing the legislator’s Toyota Landcruiser Amazon KBW 491H going back in the lane with traffic after Boniface intervened, went viral on social media sparking commendation on his part and condemnation on the part of the Mwingi West MP.

Well, it turned out the legislator still ended up showed defiance and broke the law after Larry Madowo and Boniface Mwangi blocked his posh Landcruiser from overlapping.

Larry Madowo says the legislator’s Landcruiser went pack on the opposite lane and drove on the wrong side of the road soon after they drove off. Mark you traffic police officers were at the scene and they did nothing to stop the legislator from breaking the law.

“I’m going to block this guy,’ I told my friends casually and maintained my lane. We stopped just moments of a collision and levelled with the elderly driver. The man on the passenger seat, Mwingi West MP Bernard Kitungi, remained on phone and actively ignored the building commotion. By that time, my friends Boniface Mwangi, Elijah Kanyi, Sam Soko and Anthony Ndung’u, had jumped out and were either recording the scene or dressing down the duo. We forced him to reverse and join the back of the right lane. As soon as we drove off, thinking that our civic duty was done, he went back and drove on the wrong side.” Larry Madowo wrote in part as he narrated the encounter with Mwingi West MP.

Actually they even attempted some radio interviews and most of them turned to be a total mess. Much questioning at Radio Maisha even led to Willy Paul walking out on an interview when he was pushed to the wall to explain whether whatever he was doing was Godly in any way.

What came out clear however was that majority of Kenyans felt there was a disconnect between God and the artists who are allegedly propelling his message. The narrative being advanced is that theirs is not a matter of preaching the gospel but creating controversy, going commercial and cashing in on the whole hullabaloo.

The fire has since died off but it seems it started about a year ago; just that majority of us didn’t get the memo. It was started off by one SBJ who out of the blues decided to drop a song and in the midst of it all called it Nyonyo (female breasts in Kikuyu).

Yes, the song is apparently about how God should keep giving him Nyonyo as he’s appreciative as opposed to other people who receive it and either discard it or give priority to other things; I assume actual female breasts.

A case filed at Milimani Law Courts in 2007, Alldean Satellite Networks (Kenya) Ltd vs Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) provided the much needed insight into the cunning operations of the mafia-like corruption cartels boss.

On the 27th March 2007, Kibera court gave the then KACC (now EACC) a search warrant to investigate the premises of Guy Spencer Elms, David Raffman, Dhanji Virdee Advocates and Primarosa Flowers Ltd in connection with the shocking Anglo-Leasing scandal that doomed and continues to hurt Kenya’s economic fortunes.

For the unacquainted , Anglo Leasing is a multi-billion shillings corruption scam; Anglo Leasing Finance was paid about 3.2 billion to supply the Kenyan government with a system to print new high-technology passports; other fictitious companies involved in the scam were given money to supply naval ships and forensic laboratories.

Alongside the chief architect Deepak Kimani, several other high profile people were implicated in Anglo Leasing scandal by then British envoy Sir Edward Clay and whistleblower John Githongo.

In its investigation, KACC named several entities that were deeply and critically involved in the Anglo Leasing scam. The anti-corruption body adversely mentioned Guy Spencer Elms of David Raffman, DhanjiVirdee Advocates and his company Primarosa Flowers Ltd co-owned with Deepak Kimani, in connection with the dubious contracts that defined the scam.

But KACC was never going to succeed in pursuing crucial prosecution of some of these very powerful and well connected individuals because they had the resources and the knowhow to maneuver and beat the justice system.

In Alldean Satellite Networks (Kenya) Ltd vs Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC), the applicant Alldean Satellite Networks, a company associated with Guy Spencer, moved to court to accuse KACC of being in contempt of court for lawfully raiding the premises of Guy Spencer.

In this display of tactical manipulation of court process and misuse of applicable law to alter the course of justice against persons implicated in the Anglo Leasing scandal, Guy Spencer Elms sought to beat the Kenyan justice system in its own game by maliciously seeking punitive prosecution of Mr. Kiarie the Chief Magistrate Kibera court and KACC officers for dully executing their lawful mandate.

Whereas it is the contention of most that the battle on corruption must persist, albeit with heightened diligence, it will only be until the likes of Guy Spencer and ilk are brought to book will Kenyans stand a realistic chance of winning the war against corruption.

Ugandan authorities won’t stop tormenting Joy Doreen Biira; the KTN anchor was charged with abetting terrorism following the bloody Kasese massacre.

Late November 2016, Joy Doreen Biira, her husband Newton Kungu and a few relatives were locked at Kasese Police Station for what Ugandan authorities termed as sharing photos and videos of a military operation against a tribal king.

The KTN anchor had to travel back to Uganda after she was released from police custody for the hearing of her case which was mentioned in court on December 8^th.

Just when she thought Museveni and his brutal police had stopped going after her family since she was cooperating with authorities, the unforeseen happened.

Biira’s father was briefly detained by Ugandan police early Tuesday morning December 13^th. The KTN anchor broke news about her father’s arrest on social media.

“Receiving reports of my dad being detained … reasons not yet confirmed I pray he’s just being asked to write a statement or answer to a few questions … that would be okay. Hope it’s nothing serious,” Joy Doreen Biira posted on Facebook.

She later confirmed that her father had been released after he was questioned by authorities.

“Dad is okay and a free man. he was only asked a few questions – like I said earlier it’s nothing to worry about.”

Yesterday the Kenyan Entertainment scene woke up to some grotesque news that one of its pioneers, Mzazi Willy Tuva had passed on in the tank explosion in Naivasha that claimed over 40 lives precious lives.

This was a lie propagated by some briefcase blogs which thrive on provocation and false alarms. It was so bad that Mzazi had to make an announcement on the internet just to assure his fans that he was alive and kicking.

Sadly, he’s not the only celebrity who has been killed by the internet this year; they are many others including international singers and actors.

On December 2, a Friday, a faceless blog came out to announce that former popular Tahidi high actor had passed on. It claimed that the actor who played the role of a student bad-boy at Tahidi high before the allure of the corporate world came calling died after experiencing breathing problems in his house. Well after quite the panic, it was declared that OJ was alive and well with most of his time now dedicated to fending for his wife and kid.

Popular celebrity Beyonce has also been a victim of this eventuality this year after she was declared dead sometimes in October. The internet claimed that the singer died during her performance at the Tidal X: 1015 concert in Brooklyn due to excessive bleeding. However, the singer is alive and well and was very active in campaigning for Hillary Clinton in the recently concluded US elections.

Another celeb who has been killed by the internet this year is Jaden Smith, actually more than once with most recent occurrence happening in September where the lad had been accused of committing suicide.

Brad Pitt was also not spared either. Shortly after getting divorced by his wife Angelina Jolie, fake reports started doing rounds that the actor shot himself in the head, as he was under stress. But it is pretty clear to all that the actor is alive and kicking and was recently spotted at the premiere of his film allied.

Last but not least, Miley Cyrus is yet another celebrity who was brutally murdered by the internet. Sometimes around October, some reports started doing rounds that the singer had died in her bathtub after a massive case of drug overdose something which came out to be a hoax as she was spotted the next day in her tiny winy booty shorts twerking herself away. Diamond is surely making inroads in American entertainment industry thanks to popular RnB crooner, Ne-Yo.

Newly formed National Super Alliance (NASA) would be the major stumbling block for Jubilee re-election bid in 2017, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has predicted.

Mutahi correctly predicted UhuRuto victory over Cord in 2013 in what came to be famously known as ‘tyranny of numbers’.

The political analyst relates Uhuru’s downfall to a wave of change that has been hitting the African continent where incumbent presidents have been losing election to a united opposition; it started in Nigeria where Buhari unseat President Goodluck Jonathan, then in Gambia where Adama Barrow defeated Yahya Jammeh though he has refused to relinquish power, and most recently in Ghana where incumbent President John Mahama conceded defeat to Nana Akufo-Addo in the recently concluded elections.

“I have my doubts that a decisive victory is possible. But failure to win decisively has two consequences; can lead to a run-off and a run-off against NASA could just turn the tide against Uhuru Kenyatta. If Uhuru wins marginally in the first round or in the run-off, Raila will force him into a coalition government at almost zero options. 11 General Service Unit (GSU) from an elite squad tasked with protecting the president perished in the grisly road accident in Naivasha. One of the officers who died was a lady.

GSU officers from the Presidential Guard based at State House were among 43 people who died in the freak accident that happened in in Karai area along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

The officers were traveling back to Nairobi from Bomet where they had gone to protect the president in his tour of Bomet County.

A total of 12 officers were travelling in a Toyota Landcruiser registration number GKB 961G; only one of them survived the ordeal.

Groove Party is on the MOVE!

Reports reaching us have it that the Groove Party with Safaricom, which has been the annual go-to gig for tens of thousands of gospel music fans on the 31st of December every year, will not be held in Nairobi. As someone who personally has been a faithful attendee of Groove Parties over the years, this is rather shocking news to me, and I’m sure the same applies to all the other many loyal fans.

However, not to despair. Word has it that the organizers have moved out to 2 new locations – in Thika and Machakos towns – where each town will host it’s own star-studded line-up of Kenya’s hottest gospel artistes and DJ’s.

It has also been whispered that Celebrity DJ’s DJ Mo and DJ Sadic have been selected as the official ‘Crowd Pullers’ for the 2 Groove Party events, dubbed ‘GP on The Move’ with each DJ using their influence to fill up their respective New Year’s Eve Groove Party roster with the top Gospel entertainers and fans.

 

 

If this is confirmed, it will be one of the boldest moves in Kenyan entertainment to date.

Last Sunday December 11^th the country woke up to disturbing news about a freak accident that happened in Naivasha/Nakuru highway.

Briefcase blogs quickly rushed to report that Citizen TV host, Mzazi Willy Tuva, was among the people who perished in the accident.

But apparently Tuva ‘survived’ the ghastly accident because he was nowhere near Naivasha when it happened.

The Mseto east Africa host got wind of his own death and he stepped forth to set the record straight; he issued a statement condemning his ‘killers’ and went on to assure his fans he was alive and kicking:

A heartless hairdresser cut a woman’s pleasingly stylish weave after her boyfriend who had accompanied her to the salon fled without paying her bill.

An incident in Zimbabwe has left the whole world wondering what a lady might have done to her boyfriend to abandon her at a salon without paying her bill.

A lady only known as Nothando went to Rich and Famous hair Salon to get her hair done. She was accompanied by her boyfriend who was to pay the cost of getting a new golden weave on her head.

H-Metro reports that Nothando’s sweetheart excused himself to attend to important matter as his girlfriend was getting her hair done at Rich and Famous hair Salon.

The boyfriend promised to return in a short while before the hairdressers were done sprucing up his girlfriend.

The long wait began properly after hairdressers finished beautifying Nothando; minutes quickly turned to hours and her boyfriend didn’t show up. Even her attempts to call and text him yielded nothing as she didn’t get any response.

But a Nairobi court has dismissed the case filed by Roshanara Ibrahim on ridiculous grounds; the ruling concluded that Miss Ibrahim’s petition against Ashleys Kenya Ltd lacked any legal basis.

“I’m happy to state that the court was not swayed by all the theatrics that had preceded the case and that justice has prevailed in the end amidst all the false narratives and claims that had been propagated in the media,” Ashleys Kenya Ltd, Terry Mungai, was quoted by the Standard.
