5 Reasons Why Kenrazy Should Just Retire Already
Let me be clear. Music isn’t like soccer or wrestling; it doesn’t require that you have anything other than the proper vocal and mental tools to engage it. Honestly, I’m not really against the idea veteran artistes making music. I’m more against people that don’t make good music anymore continuing to make music.
Kenrazy has been around for a while now. The last few years have been nothing but awful for the artiste for a number of reasons. Yet, he continues to go on and on. His songs this year trigger a screeching effect in our ears rather than a lulling one. The ‘Ti Chi’ hit maker is horribly past its prime, having become insignificant in the local scene, and is now left making a joke of himself.
I say this with eyes wide open. There is absolutely nothing more that Kenrazy has to offer, and the best thing for him to do is to stop making music before he ruins his legacy any further. This article has five solid reasons why he should just quit for good.
Poor song writing.
Most contemporary music fans would agree that the last time Kenrazy released a satisfactory song was when he released Hivo Ndio Kunaendanga and Vitambi. But the only reason why these two singles rank in the upper echelon of his works is because the other artistes featured on them also delivered. After that, the lyrics have just dwindled to deplorable levels. They are waay off. The last truly amazing Kenrazy song released was “Ti Chi,” and that was way back in 2007. I was still learning about vertebrae and World War 2 in high school. Ever since then, most of his tunes are just poorly written pieces of rehash. They are predictable, laced with absolutely stupid lyrics, and display no creativity whatsoever. It is almost as if the guy has nothing to sing about any more. Aaargh.

He won’t embrace change
If you’re not surprised that Kenrazy is still around and making music, you probably have no idea who he is. Well, at one point, he was one of the most influential and forward thinking artistes in the 254, but while others have carried his torch into the 2010s, he seems contented jumping around as if we are still in 2008. Yes, he remains weird and unconventional, but the boundaries of Kenyan music have expanded well beyond where he’s operating, and if he’s not pushing boundaries, then he’s simply not doing what is required. Aint nobody gat time for that.
Repetitive And Annoying Beats
One thing that is particularly dull with Kenrazy these days is his stale material – his flow was cool about 8 years ago but now his beats just seem like watered-down run-offs of his greatest hits. They aren’t demonstrably different at all. If my artiste in question is going to keep shoving his music into our ears, then he should have grade A material each and every time he is in the studio or better yet; a whole new persona. Last year, Kenrazy returned with his egotistical grandpa star persona, it worked really well because the fans believed there was something new about him. Hell no. He has brought us back to his redundant flow. May Thor save us from this invasion please
The glory days are long gone…leave the past behind
Far too often, musicians cling to their past with desperation and lack of dignity. Their roam with the desire to reignite old infernos. This is usually due to their lack of outside resources as many professional musicians fail to see other opportunities outside of the industry. However, we don’t care. Figure out a transition thing and leave the past behind. The 2014 Kenrazy just isn’t as cool as the 2007 Kenrazy. There is a relevance factor to incorporate here and the simple fact is that it is just time to let it go, man.
I know nobody that likes him
Before this article, I conducted a popularity survey on Kenrazy through my social media platforms. I manage a couple of big pages and I have over 14,000 followers on Twitter too, so I used these resources to find out how many people like the guy. Oh dear…….no one at all. There are few music acts that I have more contempt for than the Jipuka rapper and that’s just how it is. A successful artiste needs to be popular and Kenrazy just doesn’t measure to that at the moment. Quit Sir before it’s too late
