Kiss Breakfast is usually one of the most tuned in shows in Nairobi, so I am sure that Kalekye and Shaffie’s absence for the last 3 weeks has not gone unnoticed.

Kalekye shared photos of her enjoying some quality time in Brazil, so we thought they had gone on holiday.

But as an insider tells us that there is more than meets the eye about Jeff Mote and Chipukeezy taking over the morning show.

The reason that the Kalekye-Shaffie duo was given a ‘break’ was because of the dismal ratings; numbers were really bad as they were not able to connect with the morning audience. Bringing in their Drive show vibe to a morning show is said to have blown up in their faces.

Unlike their predecessor Caroline Mutoko who attracted both young and old, the two seemed to put off a lot of the older guys and younger guys could no longer relate to them so they were given a break.

Jeff Mote and Chipukeezy hitting the morning show was sort of an experiment to see if the ratings would improve. The source also divulged the possibility of Caroline Mutoko picking up her mic again as a last ditch effort to save the station.
