‘Ashawo’ Hit Maker Goes Down History Books. Find Out What He Did
Popular Gusii music rendition guru, Agwatta, might have been quiet for a while now but he certainly wasn’t sleeping on his talent. He has been busy behind the scene writing his name on history books.
Agwatta became a household name in Kenya while he was doing renditions of almost all hits in his Gusii dialect. Even though his renditions were in vernacular, he won the hearts of many just by his unique style of singing.
The most popular rendition that put him on limelight was ‘Ashawo’. (Originally sang by Nigeria’s Flavour). Following the success, Agwatta soon released other renditions that sealed his name on the wall of fame.
The singer has since been silent with his renditions; his whereabouts remained unknown till now. He was busy engaging himself in other genre of arts.
Agwatta has written and directed two plays for Elimu Academy and Nairobi Primary. The two plays were screened in Nakuru at the Drama Festivals today. He is also the defending champion for a record four straight years.
Plays aside, the rendition guru also directed a couple of movies, namely; Double Cross, Time, Maya among others.
Agwatta’s name has certainly been written on history books for his role in plays that won awards for four years.
