Ghafla Explores: Class, Splendor and Ultimate Fun at the Airtel Trace Party at Galileo #AirtelDXD

As you probably know by now via all your social platforms Twitter, Facebook and Instagram all roads last night led to the Airtel Trace Star event at Galileo. This was basically an event to celebrate the great efforts put towards the success of the first episode of the Air Trace Music star.

Being an all invites red carpet and all, it was definitely a must attend and we were actually among the first to arrive. On alighting, there was DJ Joe already in the building and bubbling with desire to entertain which he definitely did. After the usual pleasantries we walked in as he posed for a selfie with a fan; Pretty light skinned lass who didn’t seem to get enough of him. Gaaad, I want to be a DJ when I grow up- all the attention, my goodness! But I digress……

Talking of pretty, upon entry, there was Muthoni Maingi Manager of Brand Assets, Experiential & Digital at Airtel looking jubilant. Quite accommodating and hospitable, she led us in and asked one of the hot models at the door to lead us to a table. So many beautiful ladies in the building and as the saying goes, know it’s going to be a good night if the ladies are plenty, sassy and friendly; okay I made that up but still.

We got a table near the DJ’s booth, settled in, got the tweets flowing and with a double of Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks in hand, you can only imagine how my night was turning out to be. And the guests had started trickling in, the lads in their casual blazers and Khaki pants and the lasses on their arms in little black dresses which marched well with the make-up. I managed to identify Yvonne Bulimo formerly Tujuane and now host to Airtel Star show together with the pal Miss Mandi of Capital Fm. The talented Atemi was also in the building as well in the company of Airtel top notch marketing team.

After engaging in a bit of camaraderie everyone was settled down for the performance of the day. It came from Webi the 2014 Airtel Trace winner. He sang his winning single which is the cover of John Legend’s All of me and trust me he awed the whole crowd. I was also taken back considering I pay little attention to such kind of music and I must admit John legend as someone is coming to take over his kingdom.

We called him over for a small interview, after much struggle to extricate him from the ladies who didn’t seem to get enough of him and had a little chat on his journey in music and his ambitions; kid got ambition alright and I have a feeling he might actually come out on top. He talked about the endless possibilities and taking his music across international borders; Ghafla wishes him all the luck.

Our conversation was however politely interrupted by the great food servings that had come on our way and the incredible old school mixes that were now bumping courtesy of DJ Joe; told you he never disappoints. The liquor was also flowing and everybody was feeling all elated but I guess not as much as the Airtel team. They were already on the dancefloor getting jiggy and singing along to DMX, Mark Morrison and Aaliyah.

Soon enough everybody had joined them including the Mdundo team at the far corner who despite the woes they were facing with artists still managed to keep a straight face and have a good time. More food, more music and another double in the works and it was hard to get wind of the time. Daamn, it was to time to leave but not before saying hi to Joy Kendi who had just made entry. Trust me there is fashion prowess and then there is her and how she manages to make her outfits look good as her face, only she knows.

Why did today have to be work day anyway? *sigh* sadly it was time to bounce but all hail the many guys we left at the event still having a good time. Make sure to say thanks to your maker for giving understanding bosses.

As always Airtel never disappoints so many thanks to the entire Airtel team for allowing us to be part of the extravaganza.
