When KTN featured Anyango, the Chinese woman who plays Nyatiti and Luo songs perfectly and speaks dholuo excellently, viewers were mesmerized. We wondered how she mastered the language but it seems it is easy for many, not just her. After all they say Luo is a lifestyle, an application that you download and install!

Yester night was a night to remember for most of the Nairobians who gathered under the thatched roofs of Tree House Club in Westlands, Nairobi.

Owiny Sigoma Band brought the roofs down with their extremely entertaining songs sang in pure Luo blended with accented English, making everything wow.

The Band is made up of two Kenyans and a number of wazungus who make it a unique phenomenon and something that one would want to listen to forever.

With the house almost all-white, the band did their songs that earned them a MOBO nomination last year. Their most famous release is the Power Punch which catapulted them into international fame.

Spinning on its London-Nairobi axis, the MOBO-nominated group continues to redefine universal artistic and cultural exchange blending traditional Kenya nyatiti and luo music with Western songwriting and production techniques.

Owiny Sigoma Band is based in London but makes frequent visits to Nairobi for performances.
