Top Artistes Threaten to Terminate Their Contracts With Music Provider
Top music industry artistes are allegedly teaming up to form a united front to launch their bid to terminate their contracts with music providers MDUNDO.COM.
Mdundo provides an online platform for the masses to download the songs of various artistes who have signed up for the service; it has a mobile platform which can allow people to download songs and it also enables artistes to keep track of their fans and also generate revenue to artistes as a result of people downloading their songs.
Even so; some musicians are accusing Mdundo of robbing artistes. The artiste confirmed that they will issue an official press release by mid day today. They however outlined the reasons for wanting to terminate their contracts with Mdundo; they include: Breach of contract, underpaying artistes, mis-representation and exploitation.
Ghafla however reached out to Mdundo CEO Martin Nielsen to seek clarification to the allegations. Mr. Nielsen illustrated that Mdundo does not coerce artistes to sign up for the services as membership was voluntary and artistes could leave whenever they feel so. In matters of underpaying artistes, the CEO elaborated that each artiste earns Ksh 4 per every download and that there was no way Mdundo could con artistes as they have a system to show how many downloads the artistes got hence they could easily calculate how much the artiste was to earn from his song (s) download.
