Classic 105’s Former Presenter Ciku Muiruri Weighs In On Kalonzo Musyoka’s Tribal Slur

About a week ago, former V.P Kalonzo Musyoka refused to respond to a journalist’s question based on his name. According to reports, the former V.P refused to answer the  Q Tv’s reporter question on the basis of his surname ‘Muriithi’.

KOT vociferously condemned  the careless remarks forcing an apology from the former V.P.

After KOT expressed their opinion about the said issue, former radio presenter Ciku Muiruri weighed in too.

“When Kalonzo Musyoka refused to answer a question from a journalist last week because “his name betrayed him” – Ostensibly in reference to the scribe’s tribe- I was dumbfounded. After everything this country has been through, all the needless blood that has been spilt in the name of tribes, it’s hard to believe that a leader would say something as irresponsible as that. What on earth was he thinking?”

Adding that:

“ Kalonzo’s comments stood out because there HAS been a shift in how we view ourselves. A decade ago, his comment wouldn’t have merited a mention anywhere. Now it #trended and was discussed extensively. So, yes, we are not quite where we need to be but we will get there. So long as we continue to clearly and steadily denounce such comments – Poor show, Kalonzo, poor show! ”
