Gospel Video Banned By YouTube For Pornographic Content

Ringtone’s new video for the song ‘Mziki ni Dawa’ has been marred by controversy, especially for a gospel artist.

First there was the incident where someone stormed the set with a car, nearly crashing the gospel singer in the process.

Then now, it has emerged from Ringtone that YouTube allegedly banned the video for apparently containing pornographic content. But when you look at the video itself, it contains nothing of the sort. So what was going on? Ringtone says, “I think that was sabotage. My enemies are probably trying to have my video taken down using the report button on YouTube, and claiming that my content is explicit.”

From my own experience with frivolous YouTube takedowns, Google Kenya’s stance is that they don’t handle the cases here in Kenya. They are handled from YouTube HQ in the States. According to YouTube’s terms however, if a video is taken down, you can simply appeal the takedown, and the video will be put back up. If the game of back and forth goes on, it will be up to the accuser to provide legal evidence of the discrepancy.

Ringtone has emerged from this controversy as the victor, since his video is now back online and gaining thousands of views as the days go by. Here is “Muziki ni Dawa”:
