Album Review:Sarah Mitaru’s Self Titled Album
I love music, probably more than anything in life and I am always game when it comes to trying new music. As an avid fan of good music I realized that Kenya has a lot of talented singers. Just because you don’t hear a lot of them in the mainstream don’t mean they don’t exist. One of the talented nightingales is Sara Mitaru
Over a week ago, I got my hands on Sarah Mitaru’s new album and I got to sample it. And I loved it. There are two words that I can use to describe this album “Gourmet meal”. If you are tired of the “throw your fast food/hands in the air like you just don’t care” kind of music, I can bet that you will love album.

If you are into Asa and the likes of Carol Atemi I can bet that you will enjoy this self titled album. The album infuses the deep rich vocals of Sarah Mitaru with the likes of Bien Aime of Sauti Sol,Bezz and Stella Mwangi.
My favorite was The Game that featured Stella Mwangi. It’s a hit the road Jack (Ray Charles and The Raelettes vocalist Margie Hendricks) but more composed. The fourth track on the album, called Mala was pretty awesome with Money rating at 8 stars. The interlude to Money was rather hilarious and portrayed a funny side of Sarah trying to do the song in an American accent that she topped with a few quotes from Ken Wa Maria’s hit song Fundamental.
If you are looking for an album to gift someone with, a gift that they won’t bin as soon as you leave the door then this self titled album is for you. You can also treat yourself to this gourmet meal that took five years to prepare.
