Caroline Mutoko Faults The Media For Grossly Exaggerating The Story About Her House Being Robbed

Caroline Mutoko yesterday was in the news for having her house robbed.

While many media companies ran with the story, which at it’s heart was true, Caroline was nonplussed by the sensationalism that was being thrown around in the details. When she and Chipukeezy were going through the trending topics of the day in today’s show, she asked, “Chipukeezy, what’s trending today? Apart from me?” She then went on to add, “Where will I find 500k worth of jewelery? What is all this about 7 thugs AK 47s and other nonsense?” Implying that these saucy details were false. She quipped that they must be shooting a new season of Cobra Squad at her place.

Then her co-host Chipukeezy also took his turn to pile in, saying that he expected such stories from Daily Post, not our trusted newspapers. Caroline however, took a moment to appreciate that Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi had taken some time to listen to her complaints on the matter.

Admittedly, the breakfast crew also took some few minutes to lay in on Ghafla! implying we had no stories to write, so we talked about the robbery. In our defense I can say that we did not publish the ‘juicy’ details of the robbery. Only the quote from the chief, and the fact that Caroline and her family were asleep. I have looked over the call logs of Chimwani Obiajulu, and he did indeed try to call Caroline for her comment at the time, but she was understandably unavailable. Our code of conduct  dictates that since she was not mentioned in an unfavourable context, her comment was not absolutely necessary. We worked with the testimony of the chief and OCPD.
