Former Political Detainee Dennis Itumbi Condemns Threats On Journalists Mohammed Ali And Allan Namu
Jicho Pevu’s Mohammed Ali has been on the hot seat for his expose on what the KDF were up to during the Westgate siege that left over 67 people dead.
First the bullets came flying from a blogger who claimed that Mohammed was an Al-Shabaab sympathizer,hot on the heels of this accusation was a summon from the IG,Kimaiyo.
In his summon,the IG claimed that Mohammed Ali and his colleague John Allan Namu had acted in an unpatriotic way by airing the on-goings of the rescue mission that embarrassed the KDF badly.
This summon has caused an uproar from journalists and other Kenyans with people claiming that this was a way of muzzling the media considering that the journalists had exercised their responsibility to Kenyans by informing them on what happened during the Westgate Seige.This sentiments were echoed by government blogger,Dennis Itumbi who had this to say:
On the matter of my professional colleagues and friends John Allan Namu and Moha Jicho Pevu …. It is wrong to issue summons to journalists, whose only mistake is airing footage as received from their sources. On that I disagree with the police.
