Oyunga Pala On Fake ‘Socialites’.
Socialites, socialites, socialites, that seems to be the ‘it’ term in our country. Many have asked what socialites really are an what criteria is used in labeling a socialite.Oyunga Pala the veteran columnist decides to give his two cents on what he calls fake ‘socialites’.
This is what he says “Socialites is an elitist tag that is based on a prestigious education, a prominent family name,a high brow breeding and the wealth to justify the acceptance into a list of ‘so rich they have to be tolerated’. Basically a socialite is a rich person who is unemployed and whose life mirrors the high society party scene. They ooze class and are celebrated as high-end consumers who generally know how to entertain.”
He then continues”A girl shows up at the right party, displays parts angling for s press shot.Since the local paps cant figure out her back ground, they label her a socialite, which is simply a polite way of saying ‘who is that floozy who is just popular for hanging around rapper Prezzo”
