Stand Up Coast for Your Own

For the longest time now, Coast-based artistes and their fans have been complaining that most of the award ceremonies held in Nairobi do not recognize them. Well, they don’t have to complain anymore because the Kenya Coast Music Awards (KCMA) is here. The chairman of the nomination board, DJ Lenium, Tuesday afternoon announced that 80% of the vote will be collected through a dedicated cellulant number and the other 20% of the votes will be collected from Facebook.

He also released the leader board of the first 11 categories of the 33 categories and here’s how it looks like;

1. Gospel Male Artist Of The Year – Willy Paul – 6 Votes

2. Gospel Female Artist Of The Year – Mercy Lai – 51 Votes

3. Gospel Group Of The Year – The Great Mungaz – 3 Votes

4. Gospel Song Of The Year – Sitolia – 7 Votes

5. Reggae or Ragga Artist / Group Of The Year – Singa Babz – 11 Votes

6. Afro Fusion Artist Of The Year – Rojo – 2 Votes & Kidis – 2 Votes

7. Rap and Hip Hop Artist / Group Of The Year – Aldi – 18 Votes

8. Chipukizi Artist Of The Year – Crazy K – 2 Votes

9. Blogspot Of The Year – Mombasa Vibes – 14 Votes

10. Club DJ Of The Year – AJ, Ernest & Exotiq Each Have 1 Vote

11. Dance Group (Qatika Award) – G Clef – 7 Votes
